Anyway, back to the topic at hand before I digress too much and get carried away with these other issues.

 

As I'm not fluent in Thai I can't read the novels (unless they get translated), so can only base things on the TV show - but compared to Arthit's character, Kongpob's seems to be much more at ease with himself, who he is, his feelings and importantly with being in a relationship with another man. Arthit is still too conscious of how he will be perceived by others and probably only takes sneak peeks on what goes on outside the closet before locking himself back in again. The only place where he is comfortable being himself and with his boyfriend is at home, in private. This is much more common than you think, and the show actually touches on issues which are very real and experienced by many homosexual couples around the world. This disparity in a gay relationship - ie where one is more open and comfortable compared to the other - can be really challenging to deal with, as is shown in episode 7 when Kongpob asks how much distance he should keep in order for Arthit to feel comfortable.

 

The setting of Arthit starting a job for the first time and trying to find his way in a new chapter in his life, while having a boyfriend who is still in university can be a challenging one for a number of reasons - such as worrying about finding your role in the company, where you fit in, worrying about making mistakes, how well will you perform etc. In the meantime you're also trying to get your relationship to work when your lifestyles are very different (studying vs working). Throw in the issues raised above and it becomes even more difficult.

 

I liked the fact that the show brought up a lot of these issues - as well as the cutesy stuff- and applaud them for doing so. They were quite subtle at times and maybe not picked up by everyone, but for someone who has lived and still lives this reality, I identified a lot more with the characters and their situation - for example: being with your partner on a company social event (I can tell you it raises a few eyebrows!). In the end you have to decide for yourself what's more important to you - the person you love standing next to you or what people think of you. It may seem like a an easy decision but that isn't always the case.

 

And yes, we would all like to have seen more touchy feely stuff between the two (who wouldn't  - they're both gorgeous!), but you know what - it didn't massively bother me that there were just insinuations instead.

 

For me season 1 and 2 are almost two different stories with the same characters - standalone as opposed to one being a sequel to the other. I'm fully aware that wasn't the intention, and for that reason I can understand the frustration many viewers feel. At first I was also a bit bewildered by how the relationship didn't seem to be at the expected stage considering the timeline. But in the end I actually ended up enjoying the season 2 storyline more than the first, simply because it presented a more realistic setting - for me anyway. It was by no means perfect, for instance I would have preferred for the "extra" Bl couples to have been omitted altogether (I actually fast forwarded those bits) and to see more interaction between the two main characters. But nothing is ever perfect.

 

So I choose to reconcile the show by seeing the two seasons as two distinct storylines with the same characters. Maybe this can help people enjoy season 2 a bit more as well 

 

 

 

I agree with you in so many points.  I read the novels several times, and I like the 2nd season plot  a bit more than the first season. Here is my summeries.

 

Novel story plot: 2nd ss is a bit more realistic, but everything is possible in Thailand. 

I'm Thai and working in the university for years. So I think I understand the thouhts if Arthit well. If Arthit is a normal guy who has to deal with accepting his own self, Kongpob is an exceptional  chracter that hard to find. It almost like Khun Ploy creates Kongpob as a perfect symbol, and Arthit is flesh human. 

 

Screen plot and script: 1st season wins. 

I still don't understand why they added the relationship of Day and Tew that not exists in the novel. It ruined the flow, and did nothing for the whole story. The cost is less time to develop the real plot. The script writer also sucks. Almost the nice lines came from the novel or the actors' ad-libs.

 

 

Acting: the 1st season wins due to supporting roles.

In contrary with some people's thoughts, I think both lead actors did very well in both seasons. Singto had been critisized for his acting in the beginning of the 1st ep, pretty much because people didn't understand the charactor of Kongpob well. (IMO, of course.) Once the character of Kongpob is clear to the viewers, he get praised for the subtle acting. In summry, both lead actors do very well in both episodes.

The difference between 1st and 2nd is the acting of supporting characters.   Nai, Day and Tew were terrible, while P'Yong was just bearable. Tot and P' Earth were good. And the rest had too little role to be judged. 

 

Editing: The 1st season wins.

There're a lot of dramatic scene that need to linger on a bit longer. But no they want everything quick. 

And I don't know why the teasors of 2nd season always showed all important scenes, so it's like I don't have to guess anything for the next episode.

 

Just my opinion though.

Oh I forgot the bottom line. I still love both seasons more than any series in many years. Thanks for the original plot and the lead actors.

Well, I have to post again, because some of you deny what happened. Forget about it and deny it are different things.

 

What happened beteen Max and Changmin were between them. We don't know what was the reason that Changmin didn''t return the handshake, we don't know what Max did so Changmin acted that way to the CEO of big company, and we wouldn't know Changmin refused Max's hand if Max did not choose to post only the content that Changmin refused his hand. I call this bashing in public.

 

Max posted that HoMin was not forgiving as one of the reason THSK can't continue, didn't he? Now what should HoMin forgive and how Max's conclusion came like that, again Max didn't post it. I call that bashing in public as well. Were HoMin really not forgiving? We don't know. That was Max's thought and what he posted.

 

I judge by what we can actually see, not what we guess it be. And what I see is that HoMin didn't say bad things about Max, but Max did. That's why I mentioned bashing.

 

About the clarificaiton of 6:25, I didn't deny it totally. But I called it an addition of what left out in the 1st translation, because it didn't touch the subject that JCS parents mentioned that SM gave HoMin something.

 

And just like the 1st version, this version also put lots of their own interpretation.

 

They didn't say why they had to deny the existence of 6:25, even after the audio leaked, they claimed it faked at first. And now they admited the 6:25 and suddenly claimed that it's SM's stretegy to spread it.

 

If they want us to forget about 6:25 then let's forget it totally, why starts blaming others for the events that really happened.

 

Again I wouldn't mention this in the thread, since I saw it before here already. But it is mentioned here, so I think it's open for discussion.

 

I didn't try to change people's minds, but denying that Max never bashed HoMin when there're evidences is strange.

Not that I want to bring the 6:25 meeting issue back, but this clarification brought the issue back.

 

It's just like we can forget how Max bashed HoMin, but we cannot deny that it happened.

Do try to recall how it felt for many fans when SME put out those statements last fall. I would consider those much worse than Max saying basically that problems with continuing group work are not solely the responsibility of the companies or JCS but also have to do with Yunho and Changmin. Recall that they do have a role in this and are not merely passive bystanders.

As for "taking advantage", everyone in this is out to advance their own interests, including the members. They benefit from gaining the support of these companies just as the companies benefit from gaining them; I would be surprised if JCS had not in fact actively sought AVEX's and/or Mnet's backing.

 

 

 

 

I recall that when SME put the statement to the trio last fall, everyone here pointed figers at SME and call the company and LSM evils since then, the feeling for the 6 years under SME and more undertraining disappeared instantly.

 

 

HoMin have a role here of course at this point. But they didn't sue AVEX or do anything that make AVEX look bad in public eyes, why MAX did so?

I'm surprised that people here think it's ok when AVEX's CEO tarnished Changmin's reputation. Just because that he supported our 3 boys, it's ok to bash another member? Aren't we know that Chamgmin is the most sincere person? And he won't tolerate any 2-faced person. We keep bashing SM while SM just chose to sue now, not long ago. We actually don't know if AVEX chose to support only 3 long ago or was sincered in THSK reconcilation. I didn't mean that SM is better than AVEX, but things have 2 sides, and both companies work for their benefits.

 

 

Someone said it's "MAX"''s personal twitter, so it's his right to type anything. Well, it's the same account that he uses to promote their activities and ask for the support for THSK, while he actually has plans for only 3 members. His twitter is for the benefits of the company, after all.

 

 

I wouldn't type such a thing if AVEX was being more respectful to Changmin. If he wanted to publish something like that, he should as well tell us what he did to Changmin, so he got that response.

I think I know what you're thinking, but please check the numbers of seats in this concert and the prices of the tickets, which are totally different from the theatre capacity. I asked my korean friend to get the Mozart ticket for me too, but he said with 3,000 seats capacity, it's impossible for him. I think someone here misunderstood. He is one of the main performers, not the sole main performer. The ticket prices are 110,000 won for 6,000 seats. 99,000 won for 4,000 seats and 88,000 won for about 4,000 seats per day. This is a full concert, so i don't think they will perform only 7 songs. I'd be glad if the news is wrong and he gets to perform more, but I doubt he can do that in 20 days.

For AVEX, working with free men is easily than with the ones who belongs to other companies. THSK is the best-seller of AVEX now, the hault of activities is not good for AVEX. I belive that HoMin is silent because they love the company that create them and manage them to this point and they also love their members that live together for 6 years. Even with a little bit of hope, they wanted everthing to go back as closed as before. If HoMin chooses side, that'd be the end of it. Although international fans are jaejoong-biased, in soompi and in this thread the popularity levels of each member are not that different, at least of those who post the replies. Each popularity level in soompi changes every year, but over all the big jump was last year, and with all the problems're going on, it's still stable. So I'm pretty satisfied, just hope that all biased fans still buy the albums and singles if they like the songs, not just download them. If you don't like some songs, don't buying is OK as well. Being singers, either less or more profits, the sale numbers can make them proud and also in the spotlight. So I'm not in the boycott thingie since the start. For me, the staffs and resoyrces that make the albums and the songs are diffrent that those who works on concerts, meetings, CFs, etc. While the boys and SM can use the songs for concerts and promotions. Some of staffs and song writers get benifits only from the albums, so downloading the songs in the name of boycott is cheating on them. If you boycott it, don't download it, either songs or concert DVDs. I like "Break Out" a lot, but I don't like Xiahtic as a song (I like the performance, though). So I'm disappointed a bit, not because it's Xiah's song or any insecurity. I usually like THSK's B-side, so I was excited. Some B-side, like Take Your Hand, are even better than their usual releases. I still buy the single, the best album and Miroticon anyway. I don't like JCS's lawer. He is a smart guy and sure know how to give interviews. The problem is he always mention HoMin that they don't like the contract but don't want to sue for whatever reason that the lawyer said he doesn't know. My problem is that HoMin choose not to do it this way, so stop using them as a references or whatever. Stop mentioning them and end with the phrase "but I don't know the reason why they don't sue". They may or may not consider the contract. They probably considered the contract and see that it's still good (seriously it isn't slave contract like some people makes it sound like.). They may want to change some parts in the contract, but considered it doesn't worth the loss relationship with SM, the company that brought them to japan and all the success, along with their talents of course. They may....blah blah blah. If I go to see the lawyer if I should sue my boss, and after considering I decide I don't want to sue. i just be a silent reader before this, i'm a big fan of dbsk, but can someone tell me why uknow and changmin do not join the three of other member against SM,if they are unite together it will be more easier, i really hope they out from SM,

I know that you're just asking. Anyway IMO, please don't bring Shinwha and Eric in to DBSK case, I've read many of Shinhwa fans ditched Yunho just to praise Eric in some websites already. I start to get bitter because I have my own opinion on Shinwha case but I'm not a fan, so i don't want to interfere. If Yunho thinks it best for DBSK to stay with SM, he doesn't have to follow the other groups' footsteps as it isn't always a good example in every case. I hope the fraud about Crebeau is just a rumor. It's ridiculous that they demand the 3 boys presence in Crebeau promotion events. 1. MKMF awards last year were in question of how fair it is. ALL results contradicted with Golden Disc Awards. The big awards that DBSK got was freshly created (just for last year = 1 year only), so that DBSK fans and general public don't question Mnet. The huge gaps of large sales of Mirotic and on-line votings for DBSK lost to the scores of on-line charts and the decision from MKMF committee.
