  1. 16 episodes as of now, unless they consider any extensions. The ratings are going through the roof, so maybe they will extend it too.
  2. I enjoyed Ep.10 too. It was considerably slower than Ep 9 and not a whole lot happened, but the drama kept me engrossed. Glad to see that Hae-In, in the end, managed to turn the tables on that fellow obsessed with her (I agree with you @ryanallright... It is nothing but obsession; he doesn't actually love her)... I didn't want to see an extended period of her acting like a noble idiot to save HyunWooo and all that crap. Kwakkie is still missing his wife and the "not his" son. Looks like he is going to take up boxing next episode. Haha The tractor scene with the MIL and DIL was sad... The connection between them is precious. What the hell is the matchmaker doing? I think she is still two-timing the two sides. Ah the irony of a foreign immigrant teaching the Madam farm work! The Madame is one of the most foolish characters I have seen in KDramas. So when are we going to see some good news on Hae-in's treatment? No sign of anything good. The preview looks really ominous. I hope they are not taking this to an actual tragic end, matching the name of the drama. I really hope they won't!
  3. Serious fissures are developing among the bad guys. The ringleader (mistress madame) is losing everybody from her side. I didn't expect her son to turn against her so soon. The story has become a bit more interesting, as the dude seems to actually care for Hae-in. As for the disgusting matchmaker butler, she deserves everything coming to her. I love the nice relationship building between Hae-in and her MIL. Also nice to see that Hae-in figuring out that HyunWoo had met her in high school. Lots of nice scenes in Ep 9. The dad getting friendly with the in-law, and drinking makgeolli... So how did HyunWoo's phone end up with the bad guy??
  4. Just started watching Ep.9... So much fun at the start of the episode. This drama!
  5. That is the Sunday OST that you said is for a DEATHBED, but you forgot to give the BED-worthy Saturday OST... Here it is! That was much better. I agree, the Sunday one above was depressing! By the way, I think the love-locks scene was shot at Frankfurt. Our male lead is superman. He can run between Frankfurt and Potsdam (Berlin) in minutes!!
  6. LOL... Do not worry, Kwakkie is not going anywhere like @xiashenghan hopes. He gets slapped by his sister though, in the next episode. Here is Netflix with a preview clip The drama continues to teeter on the edge of silliness, but I don't mind some fun scenes like that... The way the dad deadpans -- "Germany, Australia, or Fiji"... OMG. Haha
  7. A nice 7 minute video with subtitles from Netflix, interviewing the four leads. Looks like the drama shoot was all done before this interview. Kwakkie is really funny!! By the way, this seems to be the 1 year old child actor playing the "not his son" role that Kwakkie is talking about (from this article) I assume the cute boy will be there in the coming episodes. Doesn't this mean that we will be seeing a time advance? We have only seen Geon Woo as a small baby and not this old yet, right?
  8. Agree. I had predicted it last week; Glad you feel it too. She is going to switch sides, and bring that stupid brother of Hae-in's to his senses. I didn't know whether to laugh of cry, seeing Kwakkie learning how to ride a bike. If the man at the top (the chairman) is totally controlled by a psychopath who has been orchestrating this for 20 years, it can happen. But yeah, the family people (mainly Hae-in's mom and brother) are unbelievably foolish. Hae-in's dad may actually be a reasonable guy, and he has been suspicious of things, but he was always a bit weak in doing anything about it. Oh boy, are those scenes sad! The way HyunWoo cried when he knew she (feeding the cat) had lost her memory... The innocent look on her face like "what happened? why are you crying?"... Way too sad. The leads have been tremendous in the tear-jerking scenes. Me too! We need to see the evil gang's downfall. It is coming though. It looks like HyunWoo and the Aunt are getting their ducks in a row. And they have "Conan the destroyer" with them!!! I love that guy!!! The lawyer buddy too. That guy's scenes are always funny.
  9. You can go to TVN's official drama site's video clips page - https://tvn.cjenm.com/ko/queenoftears/video/?17019 .. Look for videos with [메이킹] in the video title. That is "making", as in making of the drama, BTS... There are some there, along with a lot of other clips. The site is extremely slow for me, though. Here are a couple of BTS clips from there: https://tvn.cjenm.com/ko/queenoftears/video/#clipLayerPopup/426301/눈물의-여왕-6-화 https://tvn.cjenm.com/ko/queenoftears/video/#clipLayerPopup/425551/눈물의-여왕-4-화
  10. By the way, it turns out that the guy who acted as the Doctor at the Berlin (Potsdam) hospital, is not an extra or anything. He is a well-known American-French actor by the name Sebastian Roché... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastian_Roché Apparently his wife watches KDrama and liked "Crash-landing on you" by the same writer and asked him to act as the doctor. Interesting. (I found this from a Korean article -- https://www.etoday.co.kr/news/view/2343798? )
  11. I swear! It is shockingly poor background check on so many people. How the heck did they let their son Soo Chul get married to that woman, who is supposed to be the daughter of an Ivy league professor?? LOL... It looks like the Masseur-turned-butler lady (Grace) is the one who set that up. Grace is an integral part of the scheme, but she may not even know that! ... She did not seem to be too close to Eun Sung to have planned together anything much beforehand, though they had clearly met before, as we saw when she followed the bellboy to find Eun Sung's room at the hotel. Like they were thinking that they are part of somebody else's scheme, or were there to plan something like they were doing it (unaware that somebody else had brought them together). Then there is the financial guy with those two, who "retired" and left Hae-in's father, which looked fishy to him. Actually Hae-in's father seems to have all kinds of suspicions and seems to trust only HyunWoo so far, though he is not showing it much to others in the family... So who brought Eun Sun, Grace, and the finances guy together? That somebody else is quite clearly the Chairman mistress. She is the kingpin mastermind... Tough to believe it, but I can kinda see that if the guy right at the top (the chairman) is totally controlled by the mistress, then this could happen. Others like Hae-in's dad, Hae-in's aunt, and Hae-in's dad's older brother can all be kept off-balance and misinformed by key people like Butler Grace, the driver (who was calling Hae-in's secretary in Ep 6 with Grace behind him), the finance guy who "retired" etc. These key people may have produced the right kind of fake background documents to fool the family into believing that Kwakkie's wife is an Ivy Leaue professor's daughter (kept away from limelight, so paparazzi wouldn't get doubts and investigate either; Remember her telling Soo-Chul not to upload any pictures, because his dad/mom wouldn't like it?). They all talk about this competing chaebol "Chairman Yeom", whom I think we have never seen. The family has been duped into believing that another chaebol group is the enemy, as the Chairman keeps believing it -- all thanks to the Mastermind Mistress. Hae-in's mom is dumb, Hae-in's paternal uncle has been framed and kept away by the Mistress (remember her lying to Hae-in's dad about his brother?), and Hae-in's aunt is only now beginning to investigate things, as she was too crazy to do anything systematically before. The mistress, who is an old criminal from early 90s who took on a fake identity, became the chairman's secretary by at least 2000 (the date when the chairman spoke at the orphanage with grand kids Hae-in and Soo-Chul also going with him, when the mistress was sitting in front). She already had her son Eun Sung at the orphanage, got him the chairman's scholarship to go abroad, and she had identified Soo-Chul's wife (Da Hye) then itself at the orphanage. She brought in Da-Hye during the last 3 years with the help of matchmaker Grace, who was already planted inside the family. It must be the Mistress who got the masseur matchmaker to use the shaman story to fool the chairman and his daughter-in-law, because she was internally giving that pillow talk to the chairman, as we saw too. Brilliant! All in all, that Mistress "step Grandma" has planned and executed a fantastic long-term plan. Hae-in falling for Hyun-Woo was the one thing that she did not anticipate and could not stop, and Hyun-Woo will be the one who will thwart her plans in the end (with "good people" with him, like his friend lawyer, Hae-in's secretary Na, and her aunt). I think Hae-in's dad will be with Hyun-Woo, though quietly... Most probably Soo-Cheol will join along the way too after some time (and maybe his wife will break ranks with the evil group too). Buckle up for a ride...
  12. Not the baby that we saw. The grandma mistress had a child way back before she is supposed to have died, with her old name (in late 1993 as per the Private Investigator's document). She had a child in jail. That child is now over 30. It is almost surely Yoon Eun Sung, the villain. We saw one scene earlier where they both walked past each other and the drama showed that there is some connection there. She must know that she is his mother (because we saw her being at the orphanage too), but we don't know if Eun Sung knows. The dad of the baby we saw is not Hae-in's brother Soo Chul, but quite surely Eun Sung. We saw that he and Soo Chul's wife are really close and have had a longtime relationship, with the cigarette scene today.
  13. Yeah, I was also surprised that this kind of major trouble to start and come to a head with so fast with so many episodes to go. I wouldn't want to see the bad people not getting caught and making everything unpleasant for too many episodes.
  14. Today's episode 6 brought out her early background... She may well have been a hostess earlier, but now clearly part of the gang of four (including the grand stepmother) who have been setting up a grand scam over a period. But we also saw a small hint today that she *might* switch sides later, as she probably likes Kwakkie and sympathizes with him. But... Jeez, what an episode it was, today! Quite a bit of stuff there today, and excrement is about to hit the fan, on a lot of things. Once again they had a striking final scene. How will HyeonWoo get out of the elaborate trap now? I know he will, but it won't be easy!
  15. Yes she is, but she is not evil or anything.. Just a village-level small-scale manipulator. That kind of interference in siblings' lives and even making use of them for money and selfish interests are all tolerated and even somewhat accepted in traditional close-knit village families in Korea and elsewhere around the world (not in places like US and Europe, of course). Many people even think they have a right to make use of their richer siblings like that! But often they do care for the siblings, and won't push it too far to an evil extent, unlike the higher-society dysfunctional family manipulators. I am not justifying Hae-in's sister-in-law here. Just saying that the drama's intention may not be to show her as a bad character, but rather more like a goofy lady for humor purposes. Most Korean viewers might only take it that way too, and would not think too much of her selfish manipulative acts, unlike we international viewers! So don't think that the sister-in-law is going to deliberately do anything too nasty to give trouble to HaeIn and HyeonWoo. EDIT: I assumed you were not talking about the other sister-in-law (Kwakkie's wife) - she is more than manipulating Kwakkie. I think she is evil.
  16. I loved the scene at the cafe with the sister-in-law! Hae-in saying "not the kind of money in the dramas"... And then what she does when they leave!! lol This is turning into a really good romance story. Who knew, after the first episode! Hyunoo aced the final scene emotions... The best was the line "didn't you say you wouldn't make me cry?" (yeah, the drama is taking this gender role reversal thing seriously!) She went batshit crazy in the kitchen! What a manipulator. She has the chairman by his you know what. It looks like she was the orphanage director or something earlier, and probably not the mother of the detestable fellow (Hae-in's "male friend") like I wondered after the last episode.
  17. An interesting article from the Korea Times newspaper 'Queen of Tears' challenges patriarchy, strikes chord globally https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/art/2024/03/398_370967.html They talk about Hyun-woo preparing food with other sons-in-law, the reverse Cinderella story, etc. Good reading.
  18. You are right. This is why I said I got an occasional vibe like this is a 50-episode weekend drama. Like setting up some elaborate story lines, with much of the family dysfunction details quite unclear even after 4 episodes. I don't mind it though. Nothing has looked too boring, except that matchmaker lady scenes. I hate that character. Just take her out of the show, please!! But the drama has had a really impressive rise in viewership. 5.9 to 8.6 to 9.7 to 13.0 in four episodes is about as steep a rise as I have ever seen for a drama!
  19. He is, as we saw in Ep. 4... It surprised me though. The matchmaker is a lightweight character. Not the type we would expect a high-profile hedge fund manager from abroad would be working with. She was pregnant and something happened, as in Ep.4... But that may not be all there is to it. There may indeed be more stuff that we are not privy to, yet. By now, it is clear that her "tough lady" act was always a protective mechanism of some sort, and that she is actually quite a vulnerable person.
  20. The striking final scene of Ep 4 that Netflix Philippines posted: It looks like a lot of people were struck by how well that scene was done, based on all the comments below, there. On re-watching, I am even more impressed at how well both of them acted. All the emotions on their faces. Whoa...
  21. By the way, this drama occasionally gives me the vibes of a weekend 50-episode drama, the way the two families have been brought in, with some of those characters getting some decent screen time. A little unusual, but I like it. I like the village scenes and crazy dysfunctional big-family memorials and all that. I also liked Hae-in's interaction with the kid (HyeonWoo's nephew).
  22. That was all a set-up for maximum effect, as we see by the 4th episode. She has totally changed. The dude did plan divorce and was actually planning to make some handsome cash from it too, with "groveling at her feet" and all that part of his plan with his lawyer... But now that she has changed, and he has also changed, it seems like they are actually falling in love again. It is lot of fun. Seeing these other characters conspiring "for" him, without his knowledge, I get the feeling that he will figure them out and will be the "good guy" who will join hands with his sister and brother-in-law later. Showing him as a not-so-bright character early may again be a set-up by the drama for effect, when he turns the table on others. Let us see.
  23. Haha, that is not from me. It was @partyon who started talking about "Kwakkie". It took me a little time to figure out too, that it was Kwak Dong Yun, the actor playing Hae-In's brother Hong Soo Chul. @partyon was watching this mainly for "kawkkie" and I was trying to get @partyon to watch the drama ... I agree that he is a good actor who has done well in so many roles that he deserves a lead role somewhere, rather than all the cartoon character roles he gets because he is good at what he does.
  24. Boy was that scene well done!!! I rushed over here to talk about it because it almost shook me up, and you have already talked about it. The expressions on Hae-in's face when he yelled at her at first, were striking. Holding back tears and not wanting to say anything that would show her vulnerability. I think we got a glimpse of what may be in store, matching the title of the drama. We had really not seen much of "tears" so far. The last few minutes of the episode... It was all surreal, and so beautifully shot. Wonderful cinematography, with the soft music in the backround. Almost haunting. Wow. No, no... He won't be. It all changes quite a bit from the second episode onward. Having seen till the end of ep 4, I would recommend that you should watch this drama. (But Ep 4 did not have a whole lot of Kwakkie, though we see that others are conspiring on his behalf, seemingly without his knowledge, trying to use him)
