SNSD are also no.1 on AmazonJapan.

I don't know who or where you are getting your info from, but Oricon & Billboard Charts, and Rekochoku charts say they have been doing quite well in Japan. Its not like they are barely making the top 10 in singles or weekly charts. What have your sources been saying about their popularity in Japan?

If SNSD who has held 3 debut showcases with 22k attendees, and every single releases of them in Japan has been certified "Gold", all these were jus hyped up by the media, then I can safely say every other kpop groups in Japan r the same.

they're doing pretty well as a kpop group who only started seriously venturing in the jpop business quite recently. charts & sales don't lie.

Everyone, thank for answering sincerely. I do see that they're topping charts, but when people comment that their not selling enough blah blah blah and that they don't appear in top magazines, I guess it makes me a little sad.

I guess I rely way too much on people's comments....

  2. Question!

I want to receive answers from those who actually know the world of JPOP, and not just some random fan.

Is it true that SNSD isn't really that popular in japan and they're just hyped up by the media?

    EDIT:

Ok, so who gave me a negative point? THis is a sincere question, and I'm looking for answers based on facts and not opinions.

I've been hearing lots of sad things about our girls that's why I'm asking.

  3. I think you really need the HQ so you can watch again. Airtimes were pretty much in accordance to their lines which means cameramen were not yoona/yuri biased. According to lines, yoona and hyo got the least lines.. so that means they both would be the ones with the least screen time.

    ____

cant wait for the 16th. the performance was awesome! Not too happy with the background voices but it didnt really affect the performance, however, as much as I love the individual close ups I was looking forward to watching the choreography live. hope there'll be another live performance so we can see more of the choreography and how awesome the girls are!

I didn't even notice Yoona until the very last part...now I have to rewatch.

Lol Perfume's A-chan was in super fangirl mode at the end.

    EDIT

I forgot to say, I also wanted to see the choreo more than the individual shots. I was really looking forward to the random turning after Sooyoung's part...

  4. hey, you guys want to a take a trip down memory lane? back when they were still called "super girls"?

Actually the original thread has vanished completely from soompi tears.giftears.giftears.gif, I wish it wasn't though because those were the Golden days of Ultimat Soshi Bashing. But Luckily???? I found another thread, although this is NOTHING compared to the original Super Girls thread, I assure you that all Sones, will have a laugh trip when they read what people think of Soshi back then.

Ok, this is the actual thread. LOL! I seriously thought it had 1000 pages.

    http://www.soompi.com/forums/topic/34457-sms-new-artist-girl-group-so-nyuh-shi-dae-official-thread/

For the new SONES, this is the reason why we love SOSHI so much, no other girl group in the world has gone through what SNSD has.

  5. Regarding Taeyeon's leadership skills... I saw this at a Kpop forum. Its a very detailed analysis of her skills a s a leader.

    So...

    Taeyeon Jjang!!

But I guess all this is not obvious unless you are a Sone."

Credits to the original post ...

    IMakeMyPoint @ AKP

That was beautifully written, thank you for reposting.

I've only been a kpop fan for 6 years, but I've seen a lot of groups debut and leaders are definitely the first ones to gather the most attention. Every time some new group pops out, the first question is always "whose the leader?", and from all the leaders I've seen, Taeyeon is the only that leads and watches over from the back/ from behind, or however way you want to put it. Her leadership is done behind the scenes, when the cameras are turned off, and not in front of the camera for everyone to witness a leader taking charge in interviews, speeches, etc.

I think, no matter in what field, school, office, society in general, once someone labels you as a leader, you can't help but try to take charge ALL the time, but Taeyeon miraculously managed to pull herself out of that "notion" and didn't let it get through her head.

  6. do you have a videos where members are talking about their leader and vice-versa. Taeyeon is not a typical leaders so I am interesting in those videos. Thanks

I think this is a good video explaining what kind of leader she is. I actually love how she's not he typical leader trying to baby everyone and/ or being the one who answers questions all the time during interviews. She lets everone shine.

  7. out of most korean entertainment companies, sment is probably the most experienced in expanding outside of korea - boa, dbsk, the grace, the trax, and other sment artists officially debuting and concentrating in the japanese market; creating subgroups and adding members to super junior to officially debut and have activities in the chinese market, as well as having other sment artists who are mainly focused in the chinese market such as zhang li yin; and of course trying out the us market with boa. regarding sment's plans for snsd in japan, no one can really say for sure unless one is part of sment's management and planning division or something. but sment and snsd did give a few hints - (1) snsd's home base even for overseas/international activities will still be korea, (2) snsd will concentrate on group activities as 9 members, and (3) snsd's plans and activities for overseas/international advancement will be different.

anyways, continue to support snsd and help spread snsd love!

Thank you so much for explaining about this. I, Like many other international fans, was also quite worried for their lack of visibility on Japanese television. I'd really hate to bring this up,

but the moment I read that KARA topped Oricon Weekly charts and became the first ever in 48 years, I felt a little sad.

, I always imagined that it was going to be our girls who would claim that fame and again, I blamed their lack or Japanese promotion for it. But now I completely understand the marketing strategy that SM/UMJ has built for them, and it makes perfect sense . Soshi may be the boss now in Korea, but with so many other debuting, they need to make sure that they maintain that position no matter what by being visible in Korea despite promotions all over Asia, I definitely understand the importance of it now.

I guess all these worry came from the fact that we've been hearing how difficult it is to establish a career in Japan as a foreign artist, even in the days of TOHSHINKI, I now that many fans worried about them too at that time, with Johnnys basically monopolizing idol groups etc etc.

I just got back from SS3 Manila. It was great but I got a little bored and sleepy because we only had the cheapest seats so most of the time I was just looking at one of the big screens on the side and it felt like I was just watching some concert on TV. But I'm sure those with expensive seats had the most perfect time because the stage was HUGE and the boys were so close to the fans, like half a meter away(not kidding) from them, and they interacted with the fans A LOT, so those expensive seats were definitely well worth the money that they paid for.

Henry said that out of all the countries they've been to, we were the loudest. I'm not sure if he was telling the truth or just wanted to make us happy because when I watch fancams of the concerts from korea, those girls were loud as well, also, no matter what even, basketball game, cheer dance competition or whatever, we've always ben that loud, so the intensity of it wasn't something new to us I guess, so I was kind of surprised or *scratched head* when Henry said that. I mean it was a concert after all, we are suppose to be loud.

Henry's performance was one the shows highlight for me. He was so charming and great and the whole time he was performing, all I could think of was that this kid has enough charisma and talent to make it as a solo artist. He was THAT good to me. He really fired up the crowd. GO HENRY!

Suju boys, were amazing. Great voice, great dance with endless and overflowing energy. Don't mind what I said before, I'm just an extremely sleepy person. They were lots of fan service, and they were really really nice to the fans even if some were up in their faces(yes, it was THAT close)From where we were, they were just these tini tiny spec, but whenever they come to our side and I get a good look at them, they have very pretty faces and very fir bodies. All in all, Great Show. sucks that we had cheap seats, but oh wells, it's over now, just glad that I came.

xiam, yes i rmbr u as the one who 'shook' this thread with your comments.

but that's all in the past...chapter closed!

am glad that u did not give up on yongseo, especially yong.. :)

Thank you! Actually that was just one comment, but I guess it really hurt a lot of Yong fans, and since I'm a huge Yong fan now, I guess whoever will make comments about him like the one I said before will hurt me now the same way it hurt the people here.

Gosh I just love this guy; his charisma and everything about him. And I especially love when he calls Hyun, JooHyun, or however you spell it....

Hello everyone, I once posted something here that caused a huge drama, anyway, I'm back now and all I want to say is that I take back everything I said about YongHwa. The feelings I had about him then still remains true at that point in time, but he has definitely proven himself ten times over. I don't think SeoHyun would be the way she is now if it wasn't for Yong. He may be a bit competitive sometimes when they are playing games and I guess that's why I got annoyed with him in the first place, but when it comes to things that really matter, his manly and mature side shows.

I've been watching WGM since season one, there were great couples then, but Goguma beats them all. The development of their relationship looked so natural, from friendship to maybe, and hopefully even love.

I really do think that they're in love with each other. I mean we always say that to all WGM couples, but these two are different, they went through the whole process falling....

  11.

Just a piece of advice, if you're going to watch the movie, don't think about the book too much, just leave it at the very back of your thoughts, what you do need to remember though is the 6th film, and then you'll be all set.

If the first part was this good, the 2nd will be legend.

I really hated the people at the theater I was in, I don't really care if they read the books or not, but they were laughing at the parts where they shouldn't be like when Luna sat beside harry and said that they should close Dobby's eyes, some stupid people at the back were laughing. WTH??? And when they showed Charity Burbage at the beginning with her head upside down, people were laughing too...and they're not just one group of people, but random people through out the theater. THey obviously don't know anything about the movies, much less the book.

Anyway, I love the little scenes that they added, and didn't really mind those they didn't included because I think the movie was perfect.

I still find the reputations amusing. I went from 48 to 47 - apparently someone didn't like what I have to say, but I don't know where and when I said anything negative. ;D

here, you go....gave you a thumbs up, now your back to 48....geez,I'm so bored, 3am in the morning and I'm still here on soompi, worse, on this thread.

  13.

wow I have a negative 71 reputation...I'm a 100 % sure they all came from Goguma Thread posters....because of one negative comment I posted? amazing...And I'm actually one of the niceR people here on soompi....and have barely been posting for more than a year....

Just saw it last night and it was the best ever, I got goosebumps and I have to restrain myself from standing and shouting stupefy! hehehehe! I just wonder how they're gonna execute the second part of the book because, as much as I love the book -the second part sucks! I mean, voldemort was so easy to defeat after all to think he's the greatest wizard of all time. I just can't quite get it. The best part in the 2nd half of the book for me was Snape's death.

I can't wait to watch this!

I think Voldermort's defeat is brilliant. It was all very coincidental, makes wonder how it would've ended up if they didn't get locked up at Malfoy Manor...probably same fate but different means...

^well if you just bought it today then just go return it. problem solved.

Actually the policy for returning goods here in my country is quite different. You can't just return stuff especially if its in perfect condition.

Anyway, we went back to the store and thanks to my dad's persuasive skills, we got our money back.I think what also helped is there were also other customers returning the stuff that they bought from the sale...so we weren't the only once dissatisfied.

    Hello people.

I just bought a DS Lite today on an impulse, well not really. I've been thinking about buying DS Lite or a brand new phone for a few weeks, and when my sister said they were on sale, we went to the mall and bought myself a pink one. Problem is, I hate it now. I just want to get rid of it and get my money back. I actually feel really sick right now like I want to throw up or something. While I was searching on the internet for top 25 games to get for MY NEW DS LITE! I realized, none of these games appeal to me. I'd rather do the jigsaw puzzles on my sisters ipod than play this damn DS!

    I feel so miserable....

Hello, I'd like to clear things up more if that's ok with you guys.

someone sent me a very hateful message and it miraculously disappeared.

What's the difference between what that person did to me and what I said about Yong? Yong's a celebrity so I think I'm somehow allowed to judge him because I do have something to judge on, whether positive or negative, I can see him, although only on TV< but still, I have the means to know " a part" of him. While I, on the other hand am just behind a computer screen. Nobody knows me. so what the hell? Anyway, just wanted to let that out since I can't track this person and her message. Please let's not be hypocrites.

I'm a huge fan of snsd, so I guess you can say I'm definitely more of a SeoHyun fan, have followed her growth and blooming in the industry and I've been waiting since 2007 to see SeoHyun shine more than the other girls, and When I saw the way Yong had been treating her lately, I just got annoyed, probably the same level of annoyance as most of you must've felt when you guys read my post about Yong. He's not a grand jerk, definitely not, but it's the little things he do, or doesn't do that I noticed, and so I'd feel sad for SeoHyun. Maybe you guys can't see it because undoubtedly Yong is an adorable guy, him and the rest of CN BLue for that matter, but that's how I felt about Yong ONLY in the past couple of episodes. I definitely think I said that on my infamous post, I never said he was wrong for SeoHyun since WGM started.I know i said earlier that I only know Yong thru WGM, I guess I was wrong about that. I do try to keep myslef updated with various artists when I find the time and subtitled videos. Also, I'm pretty sure that just like me, most of you only know Yong thru youtube, soompi and WGM, what I know about Yong is probably what most of you also know about Yong( especially non-korean/japanese speakers). I think soompi is a good enough source for anything related to korean entertainment, so let's not discredit soompi by implying that I didn't do enough research on Yong before judging him. I 'd like to think I know enough thru soompi. Also, WGM is the only show we can see both Yong and Hyun together, not including 3-minute stage performances( anyone can be sweet and act all couple-y on stage) there's no other way to judge their interaction BUT in WGM, so don't think anymore amount of research on Yong will cahnge anything.

Just like you guys are probably feeling right now while reading my post, raged with anger, that's also how I felt at the moment I posted my comment. You all felt bad for Yong, while I felt bad for SeoHyun. I don't hate Yong, can't stress that enough.

Anyway, I don't think I cleared up anything, I guess what i'd finally like to say is, let's not get tied up in our own hypocrisies people.

    EDIT

I'd like to apologize to all Yong fans...I'm a fan-girl myself, of DBSK, SNSD, SUJU, artists who've been subject of so much criticism, I shouldn't have known what it would feel like to you guys before I posted what I posted.

  18.

    Hello Everyone!!!

I can't believe I become so popular around here.

First off, it's nice to know that I've encouraged people hiding under rocks to come out and cyber slap me across the face. Where ever did my original post go? Someone must have deleted it.

I tried reading each and everyone of your replies and some of you guys have managed to make such a huge deal out of it.

If I understood it correctly, most of you implied that I'm a YongHwa anti fan. Where that idea came from, I have no clue.

I never said I found Yong annoying from the very beginning. Give me proof if did. I only said that for ME, from MY perspective, MY observation, which obviously does not represent the rest of the world, just ME and only ME, the PAST FEW episodes, Yong have become annoying, to ME. He became very competitive with Hyun while teaching her how to play pool was just one that I noticed.

And yes, I only know Yong thru WGM and nothing more, it must have been a mistake on my part to say that Yong doesn't have as strong of a personality as Hyun. That's what you guys wanted to hear from me right? to say that I was absolutely wrong? Well, then, I apologize for voicing out a very negative opinion about Yonghwa, it was just an opinion I had at that moment, and seeing as this is a place for discussion, I thought it was ok to post it. I've been here since 2006 so of course I know that some of you will disagree, but spending so much effort only to disagree and defend isn't really worth it. I'm not an anti fan and I don't hate Yong so this doesn't affect me as much as you guys are probably imagining. I don't find pleasure in any of this like a twisted anti-fan. If I hate Yong, why only attack(if that's even the right word) him now? why not from the moment WGM began?

Do I look like a troll to you guys? just barging in the YongSeo Thread to create havoc?

All those aside, I love how dedicated you guys are to this couple, I miss soompi being like this, all these passion, seemed like it was gone for a long. But I used to be like this too and much more.

you guys can go back to a time when Xiam9 didn't exist in this thread. I'll still read thru the thread because I like yongSeo and WGM but I guess I'm not welcome to post anymore....

  19.

I miss the old people on soompi.

I wasn't a member yet before the crash, but I do remember that in 06-07, soompi was at it's peak; threads were still interesting, people were interesting, KPOP was still interesting...ahh, DBSK and SUJU, those were the days.

Soompi was really alive back then, now it's just full of repetitive and uninteresting threads and KIDS.

    And the Fanfic forum...eck...

I don't think there's anything we can really do to bring back the old soompi. A lot of the old members have probably out grown this forum, and a lot of Kpop artists who were popular back then are breaking up so there really isn't much excitement anymore. And I remember before, when a new artist will come out, people will really hype it up, but now so many new ones sprout up every month that it's not worth the thrill of waiting.

Let's just all hope for a soompi second wind.
