  1. good drama, good ending...though many wishes for Ki Young and Kang Mi to have a little sweet moments are not granted...but with madcow and true-story-writer rather had their moments of truth ( meaning they are about to go dating   ;)

the scene with Ki Young bringing Wo Hyun's son to the cemetery to say hello and pray to a friend (with the kid unaware of the truth) was  very touching, i had watched the drama first without subs then rewatched with subs in it, this particular scene still makes me cry.

i'm quite satisfied on this one...hope for the next So Ji Sub project to be a romantic drama....with a good partner.

anticipating for the coming dramas to start soon and be hooked once again....

    have a good weekend everyone!

  2. This only has 20 eps ryt? Gaaaahhh i wonder if they will still add some cute/romantic scene? Lol im still hoping...not that overly romantic though, more like cute/butterfly-in-stomach scene! Hehehe Speaking of which, i just watched ep 16 with no sub, and there was a scene when i think byungsoo? (the guy that has a crush on the main lead) gave her flowers and perfume and when Gi Young saw it, i think he was kinda jealous ryt? Lol I hope they'll have more intimate scene together! Like only the 2 of them. Kekekek

    :P

Oh btw, did Gi young told the bad guy that he really is giyoung at the end?! Oh my....i wonder whats going to happen now on the next ep! It seems like they are not trying to hide anything from each other anymore.... And i knew it! The old boss guy that acts like Woohyun's father is a bad guy!!!

  3. Hello Auntie Mame,

thanks to your being persuasive, Baduy can't say no to you....and regarding to this drama i'm very much at lost...like someone who is deaf, but much worst than that because a korean speakers though deaf can mouth-read what was being said in a certain stituation.

i'd watched the 2 episodes in a row....i dont want to be hanged at the end of the avant-dernier and wait for the final the next day. Am very happy about the ending but not totally till where i read Baduy's recap, because i was so uncertain at the end part, going on separate ways may also means ( at the voiced- over ) that they'll not end up together.

i am so much in respect in TO personality....seeing what becomes JS but still wants to assure SR that they are going to "become life partners" though angrily spoken but its understandable at that moment....and funny how SR's sister tackling her about being jealouse to TO staying overnight at JS house.... i say its normal cos she's afraid that TO may eventually change his mind and will go back to JS of which SR will accept it with a lot of understanding given the situation.

yes, after reading all Baduy's recap, i have a great admiration on this writer on how she/he brings out or unfolds the story of this drama...there's logic in it all.

the 3 % hit of this drama, i dont know much it this were a cabled diffused drama but i think ( for me ) because of 1. the essence of the story, 2. good portrayals of the actors , and 3. the good writing.

thanks again to Auntie Mame and Baduy! i'm off to another good ride....

  4. I would like to say thank you very much to baduy for the insights she posts here even though its just to answer auntie mame's request...still i benefit from it and so the others too...

@ auntie mame...with the 1 to 9 guessing game of the conversation about the in-laws finding the affair, i'm in the same observation...and i may tell you that with all the bad mouthing they throw over SR...they in return receives the bad karma now...husband being in the rumor for sexual harassment; mother-in-law indebted due to her addiction of the online-card-game and the sister-in-law who critics her to much will soon find out that she herself is not in the perfect marriage and whats most painfull is that its with her bestfriend...

but i'm sad at your perception that TO may go back to JS...because i think that he and SR are so good together...during his visit to SR's mom, where he talks to her while she devours the bread he brought...he seems to confide his unexplainable feelings in an unexpected moments towards SR and him taking decision of leaving his family behind means he's a man of conviction...but if he goes back to his wife he should have not started this relationship with SR...but anyway...just like what Jane Birkin's songs says (auntie's mame's post)...it may happen but it's a mess...i hope for them together...

  5. Wow, Auntie Mame got me to take a look at this one, and although I've only got to the end of ep 3 so far, it's knocked me flat. Never have my socks been blown so clean off by the first few episodes of a Kdrama. In fact, they've been blown so far into the irretrievable distance that frostbitten toes are a distinct danger (it's that sort of weather in the northern UK this Easter).

The plot management, the editing and the acting are so skilful that I can well see how it can make sufficient sense for people with little or no Korean to get really drawn into it. Understanding what they're saying in detail does of course make it more gripping still, but I reckon anyone with a nose for a fine drama will get more than enough of what's going on, even if they don't understand a word of the verbal language.(there are other forms of language that you don't need a grammar book or a dictionary for, and this drama deploys them to the max.)

One word of advice to anyone coming fresh to this: don't look at that relationships diagram near the top of the thread yet. It contains at least two massive spoilers that you'd be better finding out about in the way the writer obviously intended, rather than having them thrust at you up front.

I must say, on a more trivial note, that it's so good to have a drama which is not only free from the obligatory feckless-family- member-with-a-heart-of-gold-underneath-a-Souvenir-of-Hawaii-shirt "comic relief" character, but also makes no use whatever of duct tape to mask out brand names. I had a most undignified screaming fit at the sheer fatuity of rampant duct-tape cover-ups when, a couple of episodes of Fashion King ago, even a totally clapped-out 1950's model hand sewing machine had to be turned into an "inger", presumably in case the sales of fourth-hand clapped-out 1950's sewing machines made by "rother" took a hit in third-world flea-markets as a result of this particular product placement.

In the hope that it will get a few more people started, I'll translate in this post the teasers for the first three episodes that appeared on the JTBC website. I don't want to read any more of them yet myself, because I personally prefer not to look at such material for episodes I've not yet viewed. One thing that does strike me about these outlines so far is that JTBC obviously employs someone who knows how to construct decent Korean sentences to write them, unlike the teaser previews of the major networks, which are sometimes maddeningly sub-literate as well as either deliberately or accidentally misleading. However, understandably enough, they do leave important things out, because they don't want to give too much away.

    Ep1

To settle ferocious arguments with her husband about their son's schooling, Seo Rae finally agrees to move with her family to Daechi. She calls on their new neighbors, bringing rice cakes, but she's met at all the doors just by domestic helpers. All she wants is to get her son into a private prep academy, so why on earth does he have to pass an exam?

Soe Rae doesn't find it easy to adapt to life in Daechi. But then, a man starts to gradually find his way into her heart.

[The essence of what you need to know about Daechi is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daechi-dong especially the section "Education" Unfortunately, the links to further sources at the foot of that page (including the one about the astounding number of hagwons) are all dead. Surprisingly, the corresponding Korean Wikipedia page is a mere stub of a stub and more or less useless.]

    Ep 2

Tae Oh willingly agrees to make the arduous journey to the nursing home where Seo Rae's mother lives to give her dental treatment. Seo Rae is moved by the warm and friendly manner in which Tae Oh attends to her mother. On the sea journey back in the badly storm-tossed boat, Tae Oh finds himself suddenly wrapped around Seo Rae...

    Ep 3

Tae Oh revisits the nursing home on the island. Seo Rae, rather to her own surprise, is delighted at the news of Tae Oh's renewed visit there, and this seems to open up interesting prospects for her. [that last phrase in my translation maybe goes a bit further than the Korean original, so I'll give that as well: 미래는 그런 서래가 신기해보인다.] Meanwhile, Ji Seon tells her that to be a source of strength, a mother has to be strong in herself, and she offers to teach Seo Rae Judo. She suggests they should practice together every day.

thanks so much Baduy....but can i ask for more, please???

  6. I've been watching the videos.  Unfortunately, I don't understand a word of what's said.  Yet, the soul-mate-ness between the two of them is very apparent.  Otherwise, how can him whistling a tune over the phone, to her, bring forth my tears.   That was a beautiful scene in ep. 11.

And, morals aside, their feelings for each other are still beautiful.   As it has been stated many times before, one can neither lead or alter where the heart goes.

As for 'people', I'll just quote Linus Van Pelt, "I love mankind.  It's people that I can't stand."   I've always found it amazing that people think they are such geniuses that they are capable of running other people's lives, by telling people what to do.  And, for the people who have so much time to comment on other people's lives, they have too much time on their hands.  Go get a job!  tongue2.gif

I really wish there were subs or recaps for this drama.

@minggay68:  You are so correct about the two songs.  They do perfectly describe the situation in this drama.  :)

    Hello Auntie Mame;

Glad to have someone, a familliar-name in the kdrama-addict-fan-world here in this thread aside from imbestigador, bonds, dramaok, andy33 and me and of course the undying support of semifly for uploading all ( all recent kdramas ) the episodes...i'd been following this drama because there's Lee Jung Jae in it ( i like him and so is dramaok, hehehe ) and the drama itself got me much of interest...because it seems like sooooo real life happening situation...and yes its true that not understanding all what they are saying leaves us a big hole...me trying to catch some familiar words and just like a puzzle tries to understand a little of the situation but not good enough...i am even more excited to watch this first than the two other good dramas too...maybe a kind soul out there will grant our wish for a RECAPitulation of each episodes... thank you in advance!

thanks for your Ratings Info...it means that its picking up telespectators...because also its well executed by the actors and the story is like what in the reality happens...its not picking up here in the blog but i think lots of people are watching this drama...

  8. Just saw the episode and honestly I dont like the ending. I know she loves KM and he loves her back and they kinda end up together, but it was not officially...Just pissed with the ending...worst ending....sorry guys.... But I was like: OMG whattehellla ending....

I have to make a reply on to this your message because i was wondering, that this is infact the last episode...the first half doesnt bring me to climax or whatsoever feeling or maybe because it is in raw, i didnt understand the details said...it is the worst ending indeed of all the drama i'd watched...too bad...

  9. Wow, not much of followers here, maybe not yet...but i really like the theme of this drama...two entities, both married, happen to fall in-love...just like what a song goes... "its sad to belong to someone else when the right one comes along..." "you were minding your life and i was mindin' mine too"....

and it's just so understandable why they fall for each other...her husband and family are too much to handle...and he, his wife wants to lead a "genius" life whereas these two YSR and KTO only wants a non-complicated life (but life is always that complicated, just like the people around them too ;) ) ... the situation throws them together, it's a sin but its also a sweet feeling...or maybe a love and lust???...i dont think so....but were still at the beginning of the story so am curious to know the progress...

and yes, KHA here is totally diffirent from her role in Midas...while LJJ whatever his role, just like what dramaok says "always oozes such manly charisma with soft sexy edges"...

  10. After i finished the second episode and the preview, i think i'll be following this drama...the actors are of the matured age and its not that cutie-pie-rom-com-drama but also i like Lee Sung Jae (since Lawyers in Korea) ... i just hate the S. Korean society...their way of gossipping...it kills me! :( I just dont know if in reality its really like that...but still i love watching kdramas ;)

  11. have to say something about MW: infact SHE IS a victim of the Dowager and Minister Yoon's evil plot (to have the powers only for them)...manipulates the young innocent mind of the child where she only thinks of having the most handsome and intellec guy (yeom ) for her, its her obsession...and i understand her when she says that she has no regrets of the sins she committed just so she can have Y ( Y is every girl's envy to have and since she's the princess the spoiled brat in her says she has to have him or not and this is what the dowager saw in her, the vulnerability...)...question as to why she keeps silent after all those years, but because she has been rassured by her father not to say anything...and speaking of the father the king...he himself has been trapped by the dowager and Yoon but before that he himself is a parent to very young girl being used and imposed a sin she did not commit so how can a father accept that??? the father king is what i found at his time a weak king, weakened by the love for his daughter....but most of all the Dowager and minister Yoon had well planned their plot that it complicates the royal family where the king has no power or can not move on anymore...maybe that's the reason he dies....SO now it's up really to Hwon of playing the cards at its best, he should imposed his role as a king especially not to be manipulated by Yoon ( whom we saw trying to convey YM of another evil plot but i doubt so cos we saw him drawing secretly a dagger ready to attack YM but YM himself i think is aware ) and be ahead in actions ( i think its what he did like giving detec. Hong a list of what to do)...we saw that the Dowager had her heart attack by talking all mighty back to the king so maybe this will weakened her physically and or might paralysed her mind and body...good punishement for her...and as for Yoon, i should like that Ari's ghost will take charge of the revenge...,....for MW? i'd rather not imposed a punishment for her....we ask "how can she live through facing her MIL and Y after what she did???", well - there's this thing called "conscience"...in everyday where lives with the people around her (Y, MIL and YW) her conscience will eat her mind off to pieces...that everytime Y speaks to her with kind words will be like daggers digging to her heart and mind, that everytime MIL and YW smiles at her are like guilty arrows shooting thru her...so she'll end up of what? a crazy person!!! One more thing...B is someone even during their childhood is very envious about YW and now they're grownup she will always be envious towards her...because at the end she is NOT the real queen...and i feel so sorry for her and its the fault of his evil father.

  12. Wol is the girl!!! OMG I love her determination!!

And I think King has something in his mind. He's a smart-a**. He loves Wol enough not to get her killed.

Haish. I really need sub right now!

Yes, i am with you...the King is smart...he just cant act unwisely like that to save a shaman girl, since he can not declare yet if she is YW, lack of proof but time SOON will come since the SKKY scholar's been observing the process, he's even with the police taking Wol and he was there during the beating (so heartbreaking)...that is why HS been pleading Hwon not to do drastic decision (this is just my guessing).

I cant blame YM telling Hwon of not doing again this time to save Wol ( meaning YW ) but Hwon, i guess in his heart be it Wol or YW, he loves the girl, its the same strong feelings they both have, that's the reason also that before YM could say ( again my guess) to minister yoon that this girl they are punishing is YW, Wol speaks and says she's just a human talisman. And since Hwon is the king he has to do things accordingly.

In this episode, we saw a small part of MW here, but i guess it tells that soon, she'll be put in the open, being the witness of YW's death.

  13. I just finished watching episode 11 and something seemed a little strange to me so I was hoping someone could shed some light on the scene and/or its overall meaning. The scene is just after Hwon had confronted Wol about her past we see Nok Young scolding Jan Shil and telling her to leave. There was a moment during that scene when Jan Shil transforms/takes on Myung emotions/feelings for/of Woo/Wol. I'm a little confused as to how these two (Jan Shil & Myung) are linked. Jan Shil's psychic abilities notwithstanding was there some 'understood' moment that linked these two on a similar emotional level that say link Hwon & Woo/Wol? I know there was a moment early in Jan Shil live that Myung protected her (I remember a chase scene with a young Jan Shil on his back) but i would have a hard time seeing that as the sole reason for her 'connectedness' to him.

    *quoted image**quoted image*

With what you wrote....i should like to have it later when all the chaos about Wol/YW death revealed and the the King and YW being together at the end....for YM's sake...that he'll meet during a travel ( of which he has done before and came back knowing YW death ) a girl and that girl is the matured Janshil...that these two are destined for each other too.

    justawishfullthinking :wub::rolleyes:

  14. I am 100% sure that W won't do what BK expects...like what it says, high hopes big deception...the end part is just a big teaser for us...but NEVER W would do that...he is sworn to love the girl YW and since it says that the girl is dead, he is inlove with the woman in Wol with out him knowing its the same person.

I'm LOL for the ceremony, all the tralalala like the feet acupuncture and the tea...i was hoping that he pretends to drink it and later to spit-it off secretly...its true that its a long wait again for us but its good, we have a good drama to look for the coming days...like i'm exciting to wait for my gift to arrive.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  15. Wow I couldn't sit still when I watched tonight's ep. It's weird that the hairpin Wol saw didnt trigger any memories. I think she might have thought it belongs to Jan shil and not hers. Tonight we got to see Hwon's smile, tomorrow we'll get to see Wol's smile at Hwon (in the preview). I think Jan shil's confront with Shaman Jang was Yang Myung's feelings which were transmitted to her cuz she suddenly say mother why do I have to live for others to Shaman Jang and in the next scene Yang Myung said the same thing

...because Wol was not able to derobe it well to see it...ther were commotions she hears and so she immediately wrap back the thing..... :)

  16. Chrysanthemum Tea Kiss from Novel

    "내가 마시라고 하였다. 거역하는 것이냐?"

"I told you to drink it. Do you remember?"

이곳은 단둘이라는 주술이 범접할 수 없는 공간이었다.

그렇기에 월은 왕의 엄포에도 불구하고 액받이 무녀의 모습에서

    벗어나지 않았다.

This room was a place where the magic of being alone together could not exist. (Not sure about this part)

In spite of the King's strict instructions, Wol could not deviate herself from the appearance of a powerless shaman.

    "그렇다면 별수 없구나."

    "Then i have no choice."

Hwon starts drinking the tea. He puts his lips on Wol's lips with the warm tea inside.

The warm tea flowed into Wol's mouth from Hwon's, getting warmer as it flowed.

After Hwon confirmed that she swallowed the tea he took his lips off. Wol had a expression on her face.

It was a deep sadness that had no end. Hwon had pushed the tea cup to her again.

"네 손으로 사발을 들어 마시겠는냐, 아니면 또다시 내 입술을 사발로 삼겠느냐?"

"Do you want to drink the tea yourself or do you want to drink it using my lips as a cup, again? "

    월이 손을 뻗어 사발을 받았다.

Wol stretched her arms and took the cup.

I hope this scene is included in the drama. I really want to see this between Hwon and Wol!

Hahaha, love it...but i think they have to ask first a permission to "Mr. Vampire the Prosecutor"....a lip-lock is i think the only allowed but a steamy scene using his lips to let her drink the tea!!!! is so much to imagine. That is why i think she better grab the cup or else!!!!

4 more hours to wait...oh what an agony!!!

  17. Those near-real time captions on ionair.tv provided a great addition to my collection of accidentally apt typos.

In the opening sequence, the subbers were initially resorting to some improvised romanizations to name YW's function in the King's chamber. Then one of them must have quickly thumbed through a dictionary and come up with "psychic". Not very accurate, but anyone who'd seen the previous episode would know what was meant, so "psychic" it was for a few lines. But then, after Hwon had declared she must have been planted on him as a spy, the caption had him ordering his men to "throw that SPYCHICK out of here". Psychic ==> Spychick. Priceless. I wonder if any viewers thought it was in the original?

Wow Baduy, you're that smart to recognise this word trick "SPYCHICK" to treat "Psychic" w/out the k.... ;)

  18. ughhhhh NO PREVIEWSSSSSS @#$@%@$@ %@#$@#

it was just getting interesting too. :[

IMO Han Ga In's doing well.

I can see parts of young Yeonwoo in her acting.

Yes, very much like the young YW...even the timber of their voices are almost appropriate...and the natural beauty in them are almost alike too. The drama and the actor are very good, and also a well directed drama...a very heart-stomping scene, you can't deny that between her and Hwon, they have this very strong connection...they really are destined...not like when YM arrived in the port, there were no sign of that emotional recognition.
