Secret Love Affair ended with a blast!
It got.5.372% last night, No. 1 among all General Cable Programs. Not only that, this series had set so many records:
* SLA is the ONLY Mon/Tue Drama on JTBC that reached 5%* It is the highest rating General Cable Drama for this year (General Cable networks are composed of JTBC, MBN, TV Chosun and Channel A)* It also got the highest rating among all dramas aired on any cable channels this year.* It is now the second most watched Drama among all General Cable channels, just behind Childless Comfort, also aired on JTBC.* It is also the 11th most watched General Cable channel of all time. -
@lisafansisca , YAY! 8.8%! That's the first time for a General cable drama to reach such peak! So happy!
Anyway, Most of Viki's content is blocked in our country. -

You know, if I'm in the SLA marketing team and want to make big sales on the Directors Cut DVD, I'll just add that short little epilogue showing HW and SJ's happy ever after and Bob's your uncle....it will be ker-ching ker-ching all the way to the Bank!! Come on! Give us that little bit! I will most definitely buy the DC DVD if they give me that!!

Seriously, I am not a regular here at Soompi. I rarely post comments on a Korean Series that I liked because I'm busy at work and school. Thanks to SLA, I have learned that I should come home early every Monday and Tuesday, facing my computer screen while having my dinner, and to sleep late. i have never done this before, and I enjoyed it.
It has been a roller coaster ride, this drama offers a variety of emotions that will fill you up. you will laugh at one point, after that, you'll be crying a lot. That's what I appreciate about the series, and credit should be given to Ahn Pan Seok who directed it nicely, to writer Jung Sung joo for giving us an almost flawless writing.
We should also give credit to our OTP, Yoo Ah In and Kim Hee Ae. Remember before the series aired, they were criticized for having such roles, there were also fears that this drama might end their career. But they were dead wrong, because those critics became the loyal viewers of the series.
We should also take a look at the efforts of the whole JTBC Network. Seriously, among all the General Cable Networks, I am biased towards JTBC because they've been almost 3 years in the industry, and yet while other General Cable channels focuses more on cheaply-produced news and current affairs programming, they shied away from it and they are producing and commissioning great content. Thank you for showing the Big Three networks on how Dramas should be done, and for giving them headache as well. Hoping that Yoona's Street will match SLA's popularity.
I would also like to thank all the people in this forum. You let me share my thoughts and help me enjoy the series as we are waiting for the story to unravel. You made my stay in this forum exciting. I cannot name names because I know that there are a lot of people who have posted in this thread. It has been nice talking to you, and hopefully, our dream would come true - that SJ and HW will live happily ever after. -
I just want to know though if HW's case is bailable offense, because if yes, would you guys mind setting up a foundation for her so that we could bail her out? But if not, let's do a prison break so that we could bring her out together with SJ......
Look, I'm getting desperate for her.... ) -
junebugg said: Don't they have wrap-up specials? They did that for secret garden (but a whole year later,) for playful kiss, they released YT clips of the epilogue - didn't they?
But with news of YAI already having moved onto Veteran shooting, I doubt we are getting that epilogue. Can do with cast interviews! Have we heard of anything on the schedule? -

My words fall short to express my gratitude for all the time you take to write for us.) she could be meet in 1.5 yrs or 10....
Well, the 10 year sentencing possibility, is making me lose my speech.... -
NOOOOOO! I wanted to sleep, but I just couldn't help it. I really liked the ending, and I'm thinking of when will the subs be out....
It's our OTP's fault......

IN OTHER NEWS : Secret Love Affair is the 3rd most searched Drama in Daum.net, but It's No.2 at Naver.com

chingulinka said: WERE THE BADDIES PUNISHED? I hope HW wasnt the only one going to jail! That would be so pointless! What about the academy? Dont tell me its the viola teacher Richard Simmons who became the dean! I'm not happy with this quick pack up ending! They owed us more detailed explanation!

Gosh, what did I realized about this drama? That love doesn't know any boundaries, love doesn't know social status, and love doesn't know age gaps. And that great endings should not always be a happy ending.
Sorry, guys. I just can't take it. The ending really felt warm for me. -
luvhollandlop said: HW is really a great character. Very interesting. She is beautiful even in prison garb and the terrible haircut. That last scene that showed her smiling in the prison courtyard in broad day light was beautiful.
That aside, so many things were glossed over... what happened to the Hans? Prof Kang et. al? -
I don't know how to start. I'm not that satisfied with the ending. But I also felt warm inside upon watching the show ends. Maybe because our OTP had pormised each other that they will be together soon enough. SJ left his house, but he will never leave HW.
Maybe the writer/director is letting us think that there is still hope for the two. -

I think in this scene, SJ wants to stand up, go to the front, and Defend HW....
-
COURT SCENE : Madam Han blaming Hye won for the anomaly? Or is she apologizing to HW for being involved with the scandal?
-
@briseis, thanks for the pics. I hope the last one that you've posted will be on SUPER-DUPER High Definition once it come out with subs. Hahaha!.....
-
Tension builds up.... and then.......
COMMERCIALS?!?!? -
I'm kinda losing the stream a bit. But I think there are so many people who are watching the series through JTBC's website.
Okay, HW submitting herself to the prosecutors shocked the Seo family. -
HW is submitting herself to the prosecution?

I was worried about the ending being depressing, but didn't want to be a "Debbie Downer". I kept thinking, Writer-nim and PD-nim are going to give us an ending so epic, so amazing/daebak/jjang that my pea sized brain can't even come up with even a tiny bit of it. But instead, all HW did was trade one prison for another. What is the point? Ok, you may say, but she is "clean" now and free of corruption. Yeah but HW is still in prison! She is separated from SJ, who I am not fully convinced will wait for her, especially after he visits her in jail. That is not a promising conversation to me at all, even after reading the translated recaps.Remember when HW described herself as an 'elegant slave'? Nothing has changed, she took the hit for everyone, like a slave or a prisoner...YW still gets to have her boy-toys, Lawyer Kim is now in control of the Han assets (total win for him), Kang the Rat takes a hit in terms of lifestyle, but no other punishment, no comeuppance for the jerky cello-teacher snob, Madame Baek and her daughter bail out--no punishment there unless a trip to the US is considered punishment, Madame Han and Chairman are headed to prison, but no sentence time is stated, so it's open to debate of how long they are going to prison, and Dean Min the Master Puppeteer--no punishment. Now instead of YW throwing mah-jong tiles at HW, the prison ahjummas hold her down and cut her hair. Does the abuse ever end? Seriously, writer-nim and PD-nim! How much abuse is HW supposed to take? Answer: endless quantities, I guess. Is the point of all this to show that in life, some people just get to be the "whipping boy" or they always get the short end of the stick, no matter what? And that if you sin, no matter what you do, even if you "come clean" there is no redemption? No forgiveness? Because if that was the point of SLA, I am out. I can see that every day in my real life...SLA, I was hoping you would "challenge my beliefs", but instead they are more fully cemented. Ugh. People are just plain evil, there is no justice, and life stinks. Thanks! (sarc)And honestly, if I want to feel bad about an ending to a drama with plenty of angst, I can find any number of Korean weekend dramas with 30-40 episodes of angst and grief, and I will expect the ending to be bad ahead of time, and I will be mentally prepared.
OK Soompi board members, go ahead, throw tomatoes at me, caterpillars, moldy hot pockets, mah jong tiles, hold me down and cut off the rest of my hair that I haven't pulled out today, drag me out and stone me like an animal....I am so incredibly disappointed in the ending. Like I said before, I feel like my soul was crushed. I was so distracted on the way to work, I missed my freeway exit, which made me go over that bridge on my way back....
My goal is to recover enough from this to watch Nodame Cantabile in the fall.
