  2. Joo Sang Wook And Lee Min Jung Go On A Wintry Date In “Fates And Furies” Drama Preview Dec 29, 2018 by L. Kim SBS’s “Fates and Furies” released stills of Joo Sang Wook and Lee Min Jung! “Fates and Furies” is about four men and women — Goo Hae Ra (played by Lee Min Jung), Tae In Joon (played by Joo Sang Wook), Cha Soo Hyun (played by So Yi Hyun), and Jin Tae Oh (played by Lee Ki Woo) — who are surrounded by conspiracy, secrecy, greed, lust, and revenge as they become entangled with one another. Lee Min Jung is dressed in a bright brown coat, light gray muffler, dark blue jeans, and white boots, while Joo Sang Wook sports a casual and stylish look in a dark gray checked coat and a black muffler. Despite their wintry outfits, Lee Min Jung looks cold with her hands stuffed in the sleeves of her coat, and Joo Sang Wook also has his hands deep in his coat pockets to keep them warm. In the second photo, the two characters stop walking and make eye-contact while facing each other. It’s finally the time for Joo Sang Wook to confess his true feelings. Despite the heart-fluttering moment, Lee Min Jung doesn’t seem excited. She is feeling guilty because Joo Sang Wook is falling for her without knowing her relationship with Lee Ki Woo. The production crew explained, “In episodes 13 to 16, the viewers will be able to see what choice Tae In Joon makes after the engagement with Cha Soo Hyun when he is once again shaken by Goo Hae Ra. Please watch to see if Goo Hae Ra and Tae In Joon will be able to overcome the strong obstacle Cha Soo Hyun to fulfill their romance.” Episodes 13 to 16 will air on December 29 at 9:05 p.m. KST. 3. Joo Sang Wook And Gong Jung Hwan Are Bitter Rivals As Half-Brothers In “Fates And Furies” Drama Preview Dec 5, 2018 by K. Lew The tension between Joo Sang Wook and Gong Jung Hwan is palpable as the two take on brotherly rivalry to the next level for “Fates and Furies.” “Fates and Furies” is a melodrama about four men and women who are wrapped in a web of fate, revenge, ambition, lust, and fury. Joo Sang Wook and Gong Jung Hwan respectively play Tae In Joon and Tae Jung Ho, half-brothers who are vying to be their father Tae Pil Woon’s (Go In Bum) successor, the head of Gold Group. Tae In Joon is Tae Pil Woon’s second son and the head of Gold Shoemaking, an affiliate of the conglomerate. He is currently attempting to save the stagnating company as his deceased mother had founded it. He is also embracing his ambition to become a skilled businessman in front of the eyes of his stepmother, half-brother, and his father. Tae Pil Woon’s attitude towards his successor is, ‘The one who wins gets the group,’ as he goes back and forth, not picking but rather egging on each side. In the released photos, Tae In Joon sits on a luxurious sofa in a study, wearing a serious expression. As he speaks to him, his father appears to be deep in thought, mulling over what his son has said to him. Tae Jung Ho gazes unabashedly into his half-brother’s eyes as the two stare it down. A source from the production staff stated, “Tae In Joon and Tae Jung Ho will be in a fierce conflict with the goal of becoming the group’s head. The elder brother Tae Jung Ho will use all methods when putting pressure on Tae In Joon. The divide between the two will add packed tension to the drama.” “Fates and Furies” airs every Saturday at 9 p.m. KST.

  6. Watch: “Fates And Furies” Cast Introduce Characters In Behind-The-Scenes Video For Poster Shoot Drama Preview Nov 27, 2018 by K. Lew The cast of “Fates and Furies” have personally introduced their characters, while giving a glimpse of what their poster photo shoot was like, in a new behind-the-scenes video. Lee Min Jung kicks off the video by describing her character Goo Hae Ra. She says, “Her father passed away, and her sister got into an accident. This is the story of how she goes through the lowest point in her life and meets a man. As low as she is at this point in her life, she has just as much ambition to get back up as well as obsession to succeed. These things are mixed in her character. I will do my best to show a strong side of Hae Ra.” In her shoot, she looks chic and exquisite in various outfits, from simple, long checkered jackets to luxurious dresses and coats. On his character Tae In Joon, Joo Sang Wook remarks, “In Joon is the CEO of Gold Shoemaking. He really loves shoes, and is a passionate, young businessman. He has a lot of backstory to him, and is a complicated character. Please find out by watching the drama, and I hope that you all look forward to it.” Joo Sang Wook gives off strong charisma and embodies his character in his poster shoot. He even gives an extra sneak peek at his character as he poses in a shoemaking workshop with Lee Min Jung, and with his on-screen fiancée So Yi Hyun. So Yi Hyun introduces her character Cha Soo Hyun. She comments, “She’s ambitious, cold, and takes on the role of a very level-headed anchor. She’s also In Joon’s fiancée, and has a very adverse relationship with Hae Ra. I hope people don’t hate her too much.” True to her character, she gives off a cold, unyielding aura, and makes a particularly strong impression in a striking, strapless floor-length dress at a bar, posing with Lee Ki Woo. Lee Ki Woo talks about his role as Jin Tae Oh. He explains, “I’m playing the role of a single father for the first time. All four of the main characters have ambition, but I have a slightly different kind of ambition.” The drama is about a woman who tries to change her fate by loving a man, the man who falls in love with her while believing that she is his fate, another woman who tries to win him over, and another man who is full of fury and tries to win the other woman back. “Fates and Furies” will air its first episode on December 1, and will be available on Viki! 9. Joo Sang Wook Transforms Into Arrogant Chaebol For New Drama With Lee Min Jung Drama Preview Nov 16, 2018 by C. Hong The upcoming drama “Fates and Furies” has released some new stills of its leading man. The SBS weekend drama stars Joo Sang Wook as the second son of a chaebol family who is driven by ambition to take over the top spot from his older brother. In order to achieve this goal, he is planning to marry another chaebol family heir (played by So Yi Hyun) when he ends up falling in love with Goo Hae Ra (played by Lee Min Jung). Joo Sang Wook fully embodies his proud and wealthy character in the new stills, traveling first class in a suit and looking down on people from his privileged position. Whether he’s talking to a man or a woman (possibly Lee Min Jung), he exudes confidence that borders on arrogance. The production staff stated, “Tae In Joon [character name] is a realistic character who aggressively pursues a marriage of convenience in order to take charge of his family company. His fate undergoes a complete change when he meets Goo Hae Ra, awakening the thirst for love inside of himself that he didn’t know he had. His love for her is strong enough to overcome his desire for vengeance against his stepmother and father, but when he realizes that what he had taken for fate was actually based on a lie, his fury and revenge will be even stronger than his former love.” They continued, “Joo Sang Wook is the perfect casting for Tae In Joon and his chemistry with Lee Min Jung is great.” “Fates and Furies” tells the story of a man who falls in love with a woman because he believes it’s fate (Joo Sang Wook), a woman who deceives him in order to change her own fate (Lee Min Jung), a woman who wants to split the two of them apart (So Yi Hyun), and a man who seeks revenge on that woman (Lee Ki Woo). It premieres on December 1 and will be available on Viki!

  20. “Grand Prince” Finale Delivers Closure Along With Plenty Of Action And Tragedy hgordon May 9, 2018 After weeks of schemes, heartbreaks, and betrayals, TV Chosun’s “Grand Prince” has finally drawn to a close. We knew that Prince Jin Yang (Joo Sang Wook) was not going to give up the throne without a fight, and we were not disappointed by the ensuing action and drama in the finale, which capped off “Grand Prince” with plenty of emotion-packed scenes, as well as a bit of lighthearted fun. To find out our thoughts on the finale, read on! See Also: 3 Questions That Will Be Answered As "Grand Prince" Comes To A Close Warning: this article contains spoilers for “Grand Prince” Episodes 19 and 20. Plans were finally put into action as Prince Hwi (Yoon Shi Yoon) led the plot to overthrow Jin Yang and reinstate the rightful heir to the throne. And after weeks of watching our heroes endure misfortune after misfortune with frustrating passivity, we were glad to see them take matters into their own hands and stir up some trouble (and battles!) of their own in the final episodes. Finally, the badass rebels we’ve been waiting for. It was especially gratifying to watch characters be proactive because of the drama’s tendency to over-promise and under-deliver on the action: for many episodes now, our heroes have been vowing at length to get revenge and set things right, without making much progress in the way of actually doing so. But the finale made good on these promises by serving us plenty of fights and political maneuvers to satisfy our craving. What “Grand Prince” sometimes lacked in plot movement, it made up for in the attention it devoted to its characters, pointing to the writers’ choice to emphasize the skilled cast of actors over the action of the plot. The drama was driven by intense, emotion-filled conversations between characters — which is not necessarily a bad thing, especially in the hands of such convincing actors as Yoon Shi Yoon and Joo Sang Wook. Some of the richest moments of “Grand Prince” were played out on the actors’ faces, like when Prince Jin Yang tearfully confronted his mother for her neglect of him: The emotional range of the actors in “Grand Prince” is incredible and persuasive, and often breathtaking to watch. But relying on a cast to carry a drama has its perils, and one of these is the tendency of “Grand Prince” to get bogged down in melodramatic dialogue and rehash the same tearful conversations over and over again, which only lessened their effect and made the middle stretch of the drama feel stagnant at times. Thankfully, the final week delved into deeper levels of these conversations, offering interesting new insights into the characters. This was especially true of Prince Jin Yang, whose emotional development stole the show throughout the final episodes. We both dislike and empathize with the elder Grand Prince throughout the drama, but we gain the clearest understanding of him in the finale. This is a man who was neglected by his mother and whose siblings were always favored over him; a man who has never received love, and who simply wants to feel like he deserves something of his own — namely, the woman that his more coddled brother loves. And while he does some horrible things throughout the course of the drama, we still feel bad for Jin Yang, which is a testament to Joo Sang Wook’s acting prowess in bringing these different dimensions of the character to life. Jin Yang is an especially interesting foil to his brother, Hwi, who grew from a happy childhood to become a rather overly idealistic and naive young prince in comparison to Jin Yang’s constant need to struggle: And while the two Grand Princes start off at opposite ends of this spectrum of security and trust at the beginning of the drama, they ultimately both end up closer to the middle, and therefore are more similar to each other by the end. Hwi has become far less trusting and has plotted a rebellion of his own, while Jin Yang essentially admits to seeing the error of his greed. Heartbreakingly, Jin Yang finally realizes that his mother’s mistreatment of him was not actually a reflection of her feelings about him, and with his last breath, the prince accepts that he really was loved — and capable of loving in return — all along. While these kinds of dramatic and emotionally-charged scenes were the backbone of “Grand Prince,” some of the best moments of the finale were when the drama was at its most subtle. These scenes featured supporting characters, like when Gi Teuk (Jae Ho) gave a private, heartbreaking farewell to Roo Shi Gae (Son Ji Hyun), affectionately calling her “fool,” one of her favorite phrases, in her own language.

  24. Grand Prince” Concludes With Highest Viewership Ratings Yet “Grand Prince,” starring Yoon Shi Yoon, Jin Se Yeon, and Joo Sang Wook, has ended on a successful note. See Also: Joo Sang Wook Interrogates Jin Se Yeon And Jae Ho In "Grand Prince" According to Nielsen Korea, the May 6 episode, which was the drama’s final episode, achieved 5.6 percent viewership ratings nationwide as well as in metropolitan areas. These were the drama’s highest ratings yet, as previous episodes had all hovered in the 4 percent range. Spoiler The highest watched minute was when Yoon Na Gyeom (Ryu Hyoyoung) shed tears and grieved in front of her husband Lee Kang’s (Joo Sang Wook’s) grave. This minute achieved 7.131 percent, which was the highest viewed minute ever. Yoon Na Gyeom was the daughter of a noblewoman who married into the royal family by marrying the second prince Lee Kang. Throughout the drama, she continuously pursued power. Though she loved power, she also was in love with her husband, who was in love with another woman. In the last episode, she was forced into a situation where she had to leave the palace and abandon her husband, who had forfeited the throne. At this moment, not knowing when she would see him again, she confessed, “I pledged my loyalty to you because I wanted to be loved by you, even in that kind of way. It wasn’t because I wanted to divide up your power or because of greed like that. I merely wanted to be your lover.” After this moment, time passed and Yoon Na Gyeom was seen standing by Lee Kang’s grave. She told him, “Isn’t it time that you took me too? I wish I could see you. I miss you, Your Majesty,” expressing her love and loneliness.
