I'm thinking maybe they are gonna put it towards his confession because that will have a bigger impact on the audience. Because when I read that part in the book my heart was torn to pieces. I cried so much reading that chapter. And seeing how his last confession was a important part of the story I'm hoping they will add it in.

Also, I honestly feel the writers like torturing the viewers hahaha :rolleyes: So there might be a good chance they will put it in so we can all be up in our feelings.

I really hope you are right!

In any case, I've decided to stop watching the drama until all the episodes are released and have been subbed. I've had issues with it ever since the wedding and it's just too frustrating to watch the demon realm arc which both feels too rushed and too draggy. I'm not digging how clueless they made Xu Feng in the drama and I'll only be able to continue watching when I know I can go straight to the finish line by watching episodes back-to-back.

I love reading everyone's thoughts on this.  This drama is really great.  If I could add my 2 cents about Phoenix.  I understand the whole revenge thing, but I think that as a military commander of a heavenly army for untold years, you're telling me you can't see thru Sui He?  How many ppl have the ability to make glass fire?  Who has followed your mom for years...?  I mean, is it really hard to put 2 & 2 together?   And knowing that she's behind it all, using her, the one who essentially sent you to your death and separated you from your true love as a smoke screen to punish Jin Mi just seems... anyways.  I think as far as characters go, that's the only flaw with phoenix.  I think that's what was refreshing about Ye Hua in TMOPB, he saw thru the bs.  Still loving Phoenix, just saying my thoughts. Ren Yu's character is really amazing, silent waters run deep.  Such a good drama/book.

I feel the same. It might be his only real flaw but it's starting to ruin the drama for me because I can't stand him being so clueless when it goes against everything his character is supposed to be. It makes 0 sense that he just trusts in everything blindly. Makes me want to rewatch Fuyao, where the leads are intelligent from start to finish and see through all the BS.

Sui He name during kiss part.

I think they will probably only bring it up then that he was only doing it to make her jealous. But that he was not really drunk. Well it's what I hoping will happen anyways  hehe.

I have a hard time believing that they will find the time to add such a conversation with everything that still needs to happen plotwise. They wasted a perfect opportunity of showing without telling in just a couple of seconds. They just had to have him open his eyes after Jin Mi left.

I hope you are right and that it will be clarified later though.

  4. For those of you who watched the newsest episodes raw...

    Spoiler

Was Xu Feng really only trying to hurt Jin Mi by saying Sui He's name during the kiss ? I only peeked at the scene but it seemed to me he was completely out of it when Jin Mi left him and really didn't realize it was her. Please, tell me I missed something and that Xu Feng was definitely not dreaming of kissing Sui He.

Also, does anyone know how old Xu Feng and Run Yu are ? Was it ever mentioned in the drama. I remember references of Xu Feng being described as rather young but nothing more precise.

I think that XF does not marry SH. Look at these pictures:

The first two pictures are the wedding ceremony. Look at the clothes and compare with the second two pictures. They are the same. So I think JM is the one who getting married to XF.

    The wedding

And here they are JM and XF when JM asked  XF that "Is that still possible for us go back to the old days?"

What do you think about it?

    Spoiler

Only Xu Feng is wearing the same clothes. Jin Mi is wearing a regular plain black dress and the veiled lady is wearing the same embroidered wedding clothes as Xu Feng.

From what I gather, in the novel he was ready to marry Sui He  but then Run Yu brought his army to get a captive Jin Mi back.

It sucks but I think the wedding picture we see is Xu Feng actually going through his wedding ceremony with Sui He. The scene between Jin Mi and Xu Feng probably takes place before the wedding. Maybe another twisted mind game on Xu Feng's part. Run Yu probably crashes the ceremony just before it's completed.

I hope I'm wrong and that it's not Sui He in the picture but I'm not holding my breath.

  6. Some random observations about this drama while impatiently waiting for the next episodes....

1* Why do people compare it unfavorably to Eternal Love ? When it comes to add-ons, the ones in EL were super boring for me and made me want to FFW. I was so sick of the whole mess that was the Demon Realm plot. And Sujin's brand of craziness got old really fast. The love story and the main plot were top notch and I loved the drama but I have have to say that I find Ashes to be a better executed drama overall. The add-ons do not bore me and I think they are essential to flesh out the plot. Run Yu needed his backstory and the time spent on the demon princess is essential to pave the way for what will happen in the Demon Realm later. Granted, they could have edited it a bit in order to squeeze in a bit more screen time for Xu Feng but all in all, it doesn't pull the drama completely down. Having been the golden child of Heaven since birth, he did not need a lengthy childhood segment like Run Yu and I felt that we got what was needed when Run Yu was reminiscing about them as children.

2* Does anyone else feel that they skimped on the OST? The main songs are gorgeous and a pleasure to listen to but they are basically the only thing we hear and it has started to get old. I wish the music was more varied.

3* The drama has its flaws but I'm pretty sure its biggest one will be the ending. It's virtually impossible to cover everything there is to cover in a satisfactory manner with the number of episodes they have left. It is often the case in C-dramas and it can leave a bitter after taste. On the plus side, at least we won't have to watch countless episodes of

    Spoiler

Xu Feng repeatedly hurting Jin Mi. I know she committed an unforgivable sin but it is just painful to watch her being tortured in this way. And with the romancing of Sui He thrown in at such a late stage, it will be doubly frustrating. I do hope that Xu Feng is not fooling himself that he can fall in love with Sui He and that he is just doing it to hurt Jin Mi but I'm not holding my breath. I fully own to my double standard here: I know that Xu Feng should just run away from Jin Mi as fast as he can but I just don't want him to even think about another woman. Feeling betrayed and revengeful is justified, trying to move on with another woman is not. Not in dramaland at least ^^

4* I really can't buy what happened during the wedding. Even with

    Spoiler

the unfeeling pill and Jin Me thinking that Xu Feng killed her father and her aunt, I have a hard time believing that her actions are in character. Or maybe it was just that it wasn't conveyed properly on screen. I don't know. I just feel that the Jin Me we've followed from the beginning wouldn't be able to mortally stab Xu Feng when it came down to it. She would have stopped at the last moment or struck in a non-fatal spot. They want us to believe that everything hinges on the unfeeling pill but they shot themselves in the foot. The unfeeling pill prevents her from truly falling in love but it doesn't remove the memories she has of Xu Feng and it doesn't prevent her from feeling affection for people. That's the weakest point in the story, in my opinion. Yes, they did show that Jin Mi was obsessed with getting revenge for her friend Rou Rou and wouldn't hesitate to kill Qiong Qi for it but there's a huge difference between an evil beast with 0 redeeming qualities and a man she's known and liked for years.

5* I'm a sucker for messed-up second leads whose love for the heroine is more along the line of an unhealthy obsession. We all know what Run Yu does to Jin Mi is unforgivable but I think it's perfectly in character for him to do so. She's the one thing that he was allowed to have for his own and he desperately clung to that. He basically made her the reason for his existence and for his subsequent need to have power to protect her. I loved that the drama started with him on Xu Feng's side even with millenia of abuse and contempt of heaped on him. It's only when he's forcefully confronted with tragedy that he goes off the rails. And I for one think he was justified in his revenge plot. From a purely calculating point of view, he did everything right to protect himself and the ones he loved. It was killed or be killed. Yes, he was ruthless but his adversaries were no less so. Of course there's no real way out for him after having

    Spoiler

killed Xu Feng. It had to be done but it'll haunt him all his life. In a way, it would have been more fitting for Xu Feng to remain truly dead so that Run Yu would feel even more remorseful.

6* I just love the gorgeousness of the drama. From the splendid set and costumes to the pretty decent CGI, everything is pleasing to the eye. And the actors are great as well: gorgeous and talented. Shallow but it does help :)

7* Continuity has been pretty good so far in this drama and even little plot points have their own resolution. I especially liked the bit where Moon Immortal mentions that Run Yu has

    Spoiler

sent the mortal fate lady to the mortal world for her redemption as a punishment for the fate she had created for Jin Mi in earlier episodes. Boy will not let any single wrong done to him unpunished and it shows how deeply hurt and affected he was by the mortal love story between Jin Mi and Xu Feng.

I firmly believe that he truly loves her but his love is of the selfish, destructive kind. Xu Feng's love is pretty selfish as well, albeit less destructive (before the Demon realm that is). He would never have given Jin Mi up or let her marry Run Yu. Like Run Yu, she was the only thing he couldn't let go of. And I do love me some obsessed MLs, even if I would run away from them in real life.

  7. @baduy: Thank you so much for all you insightful posts. I'm translating this drama into another language and your input is invaluable. It helps me understand the drama better and translate it accordingly. I'm going to do what someone suggested: copy and paste your posts to be able to access them easily.

Has anyone on this thread ever followed an airing MBC drama on Hulu by any chance? I really like their translation and I was wondering if we could expect weelkly updates or if we were going to get several episodes at once every few weeks.

  8. Does anyone know if someone translated episodes 1 & 2 besides Darksmurf? I'm translating this drama into another language and I would like to do a cross-check with another translation to make sure I caught all the nuances before releasing the softsubs.

I checked out the major streaming sites such as Kimchidrama, Dramacrazy, Jacinda ect... but they're all using the translation from Darksmurf.

Any news about Dramafever or MBC America?

  9. Thanks for the information dramaok! It's great to have someone like you who can tell us all the news from Korea!

I didn't know that netizens were that upset about the casting of HGI. Do you think it's still possible to see another actress take up the role even after HGI's agency denied she was leaving? Was she at the ceremony? I didn't recognize her in any of the pictures posted but I'm not good at recgonizing actors in crowds.

I gather you wouldn't be interested in translating the drama on Viki then?

I think I'll do like @Flowerboyramyunshop_FB and take a leap of faith. While I have big reservations, I *want* to love this drama so I'll give it a chance and we'll see how it goes.

  10. Could I ask if anyone knows what the netizens' feelings are about this drama in Korea? Is nobody worried that a 20 episodes drama will (reportedly) have 6 childhood episodes and that the adult cast hasn't even started fiming yet?

I was super excited for this drama but now I don't know if I'll even check it out. The trailer didn't grab me at all (I felt they threw together a bunch of footage they had so far because they simply couldn't continue getting away with not having a trailer two weeks from the premiere).

This seems to me to be a disaster in the making. From what I've seen on the web so far, people are excited about the two male leads. Like SKKS, it's a drama that would appeal to a younger audience. Delaying the appearance of the adult cast on screen would be like shooting themselves in the foot. Would the audience sit through 6 hours of childhood episodes? If the drama gets abysmal ratings because it didn't grab the viewers from the beginning, this being MBC, I fear they might mess it up and even consider cutting the drama. And it doesn't make sense. They clearly want a hit drama and were probably hoping to hitch a ride on the SKKS bandwagon but they're doing it all wrong IMO.

I might be needlessly pessimistic but I had such high expectations for this drama that I can't help but feel bitterly disappointed by all the official news I've seen about it recently.

  11. Thank you dramaok!

I was under the impression that the adult cast hadn't started shooting yet. Glad I seem to be wrong. Posters and trailers should starts to come out soon then.

But since it does seem likely to be only a 20 ep drama, now I *really* hope there won't be 6 childhood episodes. So much time spent on the childhood of the characters seems more fitted to a 30 ep drama to my mind.

That's good news regarding the casting Kim Min Seo! I really liked her in SKKS

  12. Ok, I'm confused.

I've known for a while that Moon would follow Me Too Flower but since I'm not watching that drama I was a bit fuzzy about where it was in its broadcast. I'd seen Moon advertised several times as airing on Jan 25th for the first time but I've just learned that M2F is ending at the end of December which would mean that Moon would start the very first week of January.

Is this true? Or is there going to be some drama specials to fill the time until Jan 25?

I was already a bit puzzled that we hadn't seen any official posters or trailers when I thought the release date was still Jan 25 but now I'm kind of concerned. If it does premiere during the first week of January, that's less than a month away!

And it seems to me the "adult" actors haven't started shooting (and one of them is still filming Ramyun Shop). It could give credence to the rumor that there will be 6 childhood episodes. This is a 20/24 eps drama right? 6 episodes seems like way too much to me.

I was really looking forward to this drama but now I'm kind of worried. Does anyone have some more info about how things are going?

  13. I LOVED the ending. It didn't feel rushed at all and it was better than I'd hoped for considering how dark the drama had become these last few episodes. Sure, I would have loved to have one more romantic scene between YS and NN but I'm not complaining too much because the ending made up for it. There's no skinship but the look in their eyes!!!!!!! It says it all. We already knew that YS couldn't live without NN and that she'd wait for him always. Anything else would have been fanservice: great for us but not necessary to the story. Of course I wouldn't say no to any YS/NN deleted scenes if there are any. Does anybody know?

And has anyone heard of a Director's Cut by any chance? I'd buy it in a heartbeat. If not, I wouldn't be adverse to signing a petition for it the way we did back then for You're Beautiful. Best drama of 2011 for me.
