was watching the marathon and i have a theory! A few episodes back, HS had several startling revelations about WS as GJ which started right after the rain ritual. However, in the following episode, this plot line got sidelined but i have a feeling it is going to return.
Spoilerby helping WS conceal his scar, HS has changed history and accelerated WS's claim to the throne. If not for the missing scar, WY would not have been shocked and would lead the rain ritual instead of WS, hence gaining the approval of the people and succeed the CP as king after the CP dies of ill health (as per what was written in history)
Because of HS, WS became the one who conducted the ritual and gained the approval of the people instead, thus she made him the 2nd king to succeed the throne after CP. because she made a big change in history, thats why she starts seeing visions of WS being cruel, and killing the 10th prince, things that WY, the original 2nd king was supposed to do (as listed in history). However, as we know history cannot change, so something will happen later on that will cover the crack in history that HS made. My guess is WS and Baekha will plot to take down CP's enemies (WY and WW). If WS and BH's plan worked, then WS will kill off the CP's enemies and succeed the CP after he dies of illness. however, HS, still having feelings for WW, will warn him of the impending attack and ends up sabotaging WS and BH. The plan will go very wrong and CP will be killed as a result. somehow, HS will right history again by helping WW and WY attain the upper hand which allows WY to rightfully succeed the throne after CP. Although history is set back on course, and HS's visions will stop, WS will be deeply affected by the loss of the CP, and this will be the start of an insurmountable rift between WS and HS that will propel the story to its eventual conclusion, one that is similar to the C version (both love each other deeply, but hurt each other so much they can no longer be together.)
Just a prediction, i am just so involved in this drama that i keep trying to forecast what will happen in the show....

He did had dating rumour with Joseon Gunman's second female lead Jeon Hye Bin before. From the reports I read online, some didn't take this well and saying how the actress is only class C actress, etc etc... Some even use the word 'scandal', and I can't help but rolleyes at this. Two single people having dinner together (even if they were really dating) is called a 'scandal'??
Back to Moon Lovers, am I mistaken that WS's sword is shorter than the usual sword? Compared this in the scene where he fights the soldier to save HS from the gallow.
noticed that too! ironically i believe short swords are better for defence rather than attack

You're not touching your sister like that
Ah to add... I think she did notice. No women in this world not notice when someone touch them, especially there are many around her. It's just a matter who is that people and how she'll react. Some care, some don't, some... pretending not to notice XD
i think he touches everyone like this, Jong Hyun HN and Joo Hyuk as well

I believe people enjoy RM because they purposely try to make their guests look foolish that is why the show is funny. As for the kissing bts, he has improved alot compared to the kissing bts with Shin Min Ah in AATM, where he was very awkward and shy.
unfortunately it seems LJG in running man is the true him, i think in real life he is a bit crazy and does whatever he likes but he is definitely more natural in a talkshow setting rather than an action reality show like running man. IT seems like running man is a stressful variety show to be on, and most actor actors (non gagman type) tend to not like to participate in this show, but have no choice to since its one of the only variety shows with that kind of ratings. Slightly older actors like JG tend to feel pressured to contribute more to the show since they are the leader, hence he appeared a little awkward in some parts, like he was trying too hard.
But I have to say he is pretty funny and candid in the other variety shows he's been in, especially his interviews with section TV/entertainment weekly. On the promotion for SWWTN, he mentioned that his face was on the verge of collapse due to old age and when the reporter laughed he retorted "why you snort like pig". And while on the promotion for Joseon Gunman, when asked why he always choose to act in action sageuk, he replied that it was because of the money, then chuckled like a kid. he doesn't really edit himself, which is why its fun to watch.
about the kiss scene BTS, you can see that just before the director shouted action, he looked nervous and was fiddling with his thumbs. And its so sweet that he looked at IU to ask if she was ready before he started kissing her!- 30

@kriswu the pix that LJG posted on his ig is a future scene. That blue dress of HS hasnt appeared yet
On weibo, some guess that he could be lying down for the makeup artists to draw scars... but really, why does he needs to bare his body again. lol
hmm but the IG photo was photoshopped (the bottom right corner is very weird). Either JG thought his chest looked fat (no way, he's too skinny) or it revealed some spoiler that had to be edited away....SOOO CURIOUS

He's not only shelter her from rain but he's extending the same compassion she has shown him through his trails and tribulations, he just does it in the only way he knows how with actions rather than empty platitudes like Wook. "I will shield you when you are unable, as you have done for me." I like how these can communicate with subtle, almost imperceptible looks and gestures and each one tells us something profound.
This drama turns even the most pragmatic of people into hopeless romantics.l!
This scene was fantastic in a lot of ways. the cinematography and composition was amazing! although i didn't really get romantic vibes from So's gesture. I felt that he was supporting So to help her become a stronger person and from his expression, it looks like he is fuming with anger, at the inexplicable situation, at WW's actions, at HS's recklessness in sacrificing her body again and most of all, again at HS who crumbled easily after Wook's betrayal. I felt that he was silently but forcefully urging Su to raise her head high, that even when begging and amidst betrayal, one has to survive with dignity.
throughout the series, it is evident that he does not treat su like a princess; even when he does shower her with affection, he does it with a take it or leave it attitude which i believe is crucial for Su's character (she is shown often times in the drama to crumble easily after betrayal, be it in modern times or Goryeo times).. this is what i find the most intriguing part of the relationship, no constant damsel in distress situations, which is atypical of K dramas.
And lastly, as a long time fan of LJG, I never thought i would be grateful for a director or drama that gives him so little to do. In this drama he is not given a lot of lines or scenes but he does so much with so little! I always felt sad for his career trajectory; he became too famous too fast and his first agency unscrupulously milked his pretty boy image to the effect that it left behind a stigma for the rest of his career (which is why he always chooses to do his own stunts and act in action dramas, even though his face is more suited for plutocratic roles). Said management then misappropriated his earnings, leading to lawsuits and scandals that eventually only ended after he joined the military. Since then he was never really able to regain his position in the industry.....which is really sad cause as a fan I noticed he has worked really hard over the years, be it to shed the pretty boy image, or counter the criticisms of his previous overacting tendencies.... Despite his long career, he still manages to improve project by project. with MLSHR, his acting has really evolved so much; he is showing such restraint, maturity and dexterity that I can't even. Plus he lost 15 kg and looks younger than some of the cast members even though he's more than 10 years older than them...really effort much. I don't watch K dramas, i only watch the shows he is in. As a fan from the very beginning, i feel enormously grateful for the progressively entertaining projects he has given us over the past 10 years, and i really really hope that this project gives him the popularity and stardom he rightfully deserves. ratings!! please go up!!!- 50

A-FREAKING-MEN Yes he does!
But apparently Daesang is very closely tied to the the ratings of a show, and because MLSHR's are very low...LJK has very little chance of winning one for this role..WHICH IS A TRAGEDY GREATER THAN ANYTHING THE SHOW CAN CREATE.
Seriously, if he can't win that one, can he win all the others??? He's just...I mean his acting can make you forget that he's gorgeous and with how gorgeous he is...that says something about his level of skill and talent right???
I hope he wins the baeksang, it has a reputation of being independent from any network and tend to award the more esoteric performances (though still tied to ratings somewhat).- 15

This weeks episodes were the strongest set in the entire series, and i think the definitive scene of the current arc is the poison tea scene (sorry lady Oh, no offence).
I just want to say that watching this scene once is not enough, its so complexly layered you have to watch it a few times to fully understand each characters true intentions, and boy DID THE WRITER WRITE THE HELL OUT OF THIS SIMPLE POISON SCENE.
yesterday i wrote about how Wang So tried to manoeuvre the hell out of drinking the poison, but resigned to fate finally due to Haesoo, it took me a while to uncover the different layers of meaning each action entailed, why it had to be 3 cups, why he had to leave the scene, why he was constantly looking at Hae Soo the whole time.
today we get the second act of this scene where the writer finally unveils the true brilliance of Yeon Hwa as a character. some parts of the scene initially appeared odd to me, but after thinking about it, every single one of Yeonhwa's actions were calculated.1) she poured the tea from CP's teapot (i am not sure why there is still tea left because Hae soo left to get some more, and i am beginning to suspect the teapot that Yeonhwa poured from was not poisoned at all, although that would make JM's character super shady....).
2) she intentionally chose to drink from Wang so's cup (this is linked to point no. 5)
3) she pours the tea into her sleeves
4) bites her lip to fake blood
5) when she collapsed, she mumbled that it was "Wang So's cup" for all to hear
In this case she:
1) removed herself from suspicion2) highlighted to the king the need for Wook to remarry
3) pissed off Queen Yo (it was a good show of bravado to demonstrate to the Queen she is not to be manipulated with)
4) got Hae Soo implicated
5) destroyed the evidence (i think she intentionally crashes the CP's teapot, maybe in case they find out there is no poison in that teapot?)
6) saved Wang So, the last words she muttered help to send help to Wang So while he was dying. I got a feeling she felt bad for him and wanted to do something immediately to help.
So in the end she killed a flock of birds without even throwing a stone.
Unfortunately, and this may not be a popular opinion, I felt that this arch has fully illustrated to the viewers that the 2 smartest people in the palace are WS and YH plus YH is the perfect queen for WS. This is the SHIP that the official narrative wants us to support (it is what happens according to history anyway).
Although they throw us with a lot of misleading curveballs like the hair pin, the scar make up scene etc, and while many of us (me included) might be impatient regarding why the OTP's ship still hasn't sailed (i guess there is some time lapse in the next episode, WS and HS are separated after sharing such intimate moments, Wang So is sent to battle etc, and their ship ultimately lost its fuel i guess).
As i mentioned before, the title of Moon Lovers is wholly misleading, the drama is not about lovey dovey relationships, it was never really about WW & HS or WS & HS. HS is just an innocent, INDEPENDENT bystander from another time witnessing a battle of wits between historical characters in the Goryeo palace, and if it is similar to the C version, this is how the drama will develop and this is how it would end.

I have to say So is really a smart bugger.
As the palace attendants check for poison in food served to the royal family, he immediately assumed the poison was on the cup, so he broke CP's original cup.
After drinking it, he then realise that the palace attendants were in on it too, but it was too late to back out. the poignancy of the moment when he realised he couldn't stop drinking because Hae soo was the one serving him...OH MY GOD SO INTENSE WHY.- 39

this is slightly off topic, but FYI, LJG also has a significant scar on his face IRL (just like Wang So). He fell and hit his head on a steel structure while rehearsing for a musical in the military and that scar cost him 50 stitches on the forehead. In some of the photos where he doesn't have bangs, you can sometimes still see the scar (although he usually covers it with makeup or changes his parting to obscure it, like the picture of WS marrying YH).
Here's the article for your reference if you are interested!

wow the new pics.
I have trouble grasping the narrative after seeing the new spoilers. Wang so drank the poison willingly and tried to hide his reaction to the poison because he thought it was the best way to save Hae soo. He leaves the tea ceremony alone because he did not want people to find out there was poison in the tea so that Hae soo will not be implicated. If his intention was just to save the CP, he could have easily toppled the tea but no he chose to drink it as proof of Hae Soo's innocence...I had initially though this narrative would be the definite turning point for the WS HS ship, but it doesn't seem so...
After looking at the spoiler pics, i realise that not only did wang so not succeed; Hae soo was still sentenced to death for trying to poison the CP, but oh sang gong may be implicated as well. So basically Wang so's sacrifice amounted to nothing, this will not be the definite turning point to their relationship as i had expected. But also it made me realise that MLSHR is just not that kind of drama; its not idol fare that concentrate on the lovey dovey relationship stuff and revolve only around the two leads, but a more complex exploration of how an ensemble of characters react when driven to extremes..it is definitely going to get more difficult to watch from now onwards....
Anyway my guess is that Wang So survived the poison because he already found out about the plot beforehand and took an antidote before drinking the tea, high likelihood since his character is made out to be more pragmatic rather than romantic. But still i wished the writer will give us a more light hearted episode 11, they build wang so up to be such a tragic and damaged character, but it seems they wont give him much opportunities to evolve and pursue happiness; probably just gonna get worst from here on out... whereas for Hae soo, they are developing her character in a way that is too fast and furious for me....

I am not sure if this has been shared before, but in the actors' forum, someone posted a korean article stating how Wang So's scene during the rain ritual at the end of ep 7 achieved peak ratings of 12.8% (highest for the drama yet)! This is good news since the drama is shifting towards the Wang So narrative so we should be seeing an improvement in the ratings.
However, i am pretty sure the Korean SBS version will start to reduce scenes from other characters (like Woo Hee) to give Lee Joon Gi more screen time (not that I am complaining). Also the next few episodes will more likely feature a cliffhanger involving Wang so (this is because dramas tend to achieve their highest ratings towards their last scenes, especially when the drama from a rival station has ended and the audience switches over. Sometimes viewers watch shows simultaneously and having a longer run time enables the viewer to catch the endings of both dramas and decide which channel they will tune in for the next episode. Which is why the tv stations are always trying to cut in more footage at there very last minute so that their drama can end a few seconds later than the rival station's drama to get an extra spike in the ratings game).
Good news is we'll see more Lee Joon Gi in the next few episodes. Sad news is that the puking blood scene will most definitely be the cliffhanger for ep 9.- 21

Just now, Gabi Bros said:
Yes...I feel so bad for him. Seems like the writer don't like Wang So as much as she likes Wook.
from the viewpoint of the actor, it seems lee joon gi was given all the tougher scenes, the fighting, being drenched in the rain, really being hit on the face with real/fake mud.. its like they were trying to max out the package he earned from this drama while the other princes just mostly sat around, looking pretty and delivering rather flat dialogue...
