dropping by for a bit after finishing ep2. shout out to @partyon for the roll call haha. after a few months ignoring kdramas, suddenly watchable things started popping out on the second half of 2024.
right off the bat, i can't help unintentionally laughing because this started out like a very typical Chinese vertical micro drama plot, only with a higher budget. fake marriage? check. swapping the supposed bride with the sister? check. a seemingly mute and docile wife who turns out secretly cooking a revenge? check. even down to the kidnapping and abusive behavior. i just want to say, even if hui joo wants to leave because she resent him for neglecting her, she's not being smart enough, and that's one thing that keeps aggravating me during the first 2 episodes. even putting the fact that she let herself being manipulated by the real bad guy(s?) aside, she repeatedly do things that could easily expose her identity (not even bother to fake the speech impediment of the original kidnapper, taking mirror selfie with the problematic phone, losing her composure over and over that she keeps revealing more things about herself), she's not shaping up to be a very bright character and idk how to feel about that.
like, she keeps saying how baek saeon doesn't know anything about her, but does she know anything about him? how could she be so reckless when facing a guy with that much credentials and has all the resources that could easily expose her anytime soon?
that's my initial impression so far. i'll probably add more after watching the newest episodes.
