In my humble opinion, the mid 80s to the mids 90s is the golden age of Hong Kong cinema. During that time, Hong Kong produced many popular movies and stars, and was crowned "Hollywood of the East". "Crash Landing On You", "Goblin", "My Love From The Star"... these are some of the immensely popular Korean dramas that have taken Asia by storm. Every time I hear about a live-action adaptation of a popular manga/anime, my interest is piqued, and out of curiosity, I will give it a watch. Living up to fans' expectations is not easy, and some adaptations have turned out satisfactory, while many have flopped.
