@annamchoi@cherrhys88  Loving all the warm lingering feelings from watching the BTS

@Sneha Like you, I'd like to wish for a special episode, maybe with some more music.

  3. Such good news, DYLB is consistently in top 3 and BinJae in top 5 throughout October, even if new dramas came.I like to think our highly active and energetic forum also contributed to the buzz-worthiness of DYLB :)

Last BTS threads all BTS in one film reel, can watch BinJae longer together, like 1 hour and 30 minutes looongg!!

Thank you for the updates! @cherrhys88 @annamchoi@larus

@cherrhys88 Thanks for sharing the wedding cover of OST piano album, makes the music even sweeter!!

Agree with you @Jillia  this well-made drama is so deserving of buzz and recognition. I like that with consistent viewer ratings between 5-6% meant a core group of K-fans judged DYLB a memorable "10". While rama ratings are one thing, the buzz it creates is also equally important nowadays. And I swear too that I would welcome pics from knetz everyday, even if it "k___s" me as you said

@Ameera Ali I had a secret wish for them to dance, so I was very happy to see BinJae do a short waltz in the BTS :)

@Jillia Feeling each other breath, like being in tune with each other. I think understand that line a little bit more now.

@vangsweetie637 For sageuks, I am also waiting for "Queen Cheorin" in December too (I hope). If there is overlap with "Secret Royal Investigator", we will see the leads of "Angel's Last Mission: Love" starring in their own drama. (Me excited and humming "It's the most wonderful time of the year")

@Abirami Ramakrishnan Hoping for more future episodes, like leading up to the wedding maybe? Got teary-eyed with this one, thank you. Ok, going to re-read Monday's episode now :)

DYLB was a such remarkable kdrama viewing experience for me. I also enjoyed our collective experience of watching and sharing together. Humbly sending you my postcard "Crescendo" as my way to thank you again (x4):)

Thank you @Sky8lue for sharing with us the article with author's thoughts!

'Brahms' author, "If you've done your best like Chae Song-ah, I believe that's worth it."

Regarding the message he wanted to convey through the drama, he said, "Some people find their way fast and run fast, and some people do well from the beginning, but I hope they don't hurt themselves thinking that I'm behind others just because I don't. If I did my best to love and try my best without regret, I believe that it is a valuable time and will surely be a nourishment for the future in any form. The future is about the accumulation of time in the past, he added.

When the word "happiness" came out, writer Ryu explained, "I once talked to the director that if there was a subtitle in this drama, it would be "Finding Happiness." "I think 'the way to find happiness' is to cherish and cherish myself as I live my life to the best of my ability to regret every moment. We are all imperfect and lacking in our own ways, but no one else seems to value me unless I value myself. I believe that only when my center is firmly in place can I be happy wherever and whatever I do."

@Dana T Try also Second 20s (tvN, 2015), KMJ is like a 2nd lead, plays the son whose mom goes to uni at a much later time. I saw him first I think in Goblin, then Dr. Romantic (can't resist Han Suk Kyu) or other way around. I'll try to find my way back to watching Flower Crew and Hit The Top again, maybe sooner than later.

Deja vu: I love that image of proposal kiss, in a bright room and Namsan tower view that suddenly the film "A Room With A View" popped into my head. The first kiss in the film, shorter than Piano Room kiss but had same explosive feel. :)

    Spoiler

A Room With A View - That Kiss in the Poppy Field (go to 2:40 for the kiss scene)

A 1985 film starring Helena Bonham Carter (Lucy) and Julian Sands (George), based on a novel by author E. M. Forster (also wrote Howards End). The clip begins with two spinster ladies, one is Lucy's chaperone (Maggie Smith) gossiping about a woman they both knew who ran away with her lover. Young Lucy, a bored 18yo walks off, meets the Italian coach driver. With language barrier, the driver thought to direct her to where George is :)

  6. BinJae do take care of each other so well, especially during these intense emotional sequence, how they really comfort and give support as scene partners and as friends. I find their on and off screen chemistry special.

Hats off to them for the leading the revival of the Monday-Tuesday drama time slot for SBS. More stories for us! And with all the buzz, I hope Netflix picks up DYLB, so more audiences can love uri Dimple Couple!

Thanks @annamchoi @rafeusjanelafor sharing the instagram posts!

  7. Seeing all the before-after/parallel scenes make me feel director-nim and writer-nim always wanting to tell more about the story. Non-verbal cues like acting beats, color codes of their outfit, music, art direction, camera composition etc. will need decoding on a re-watch.

    Example about the kissing …

    1. Real progress happening when confession/reunion kiss dissolves to black and not the usual Dimple Couple talk after. (No more talking or do more than talking? :)

    2. More progress during proposal scene when they got a room already that did not come with a grand piano.

  8. Agree, we need re-watch to decode the bits and crumbs of this lovely drama. I'm giddy thinking Dimple Couple took sageuk-inspired before the proposal scene. Thank you again for the link to all the photos @YongZura⁷ᴮᴱ.

@ck1Oz I like the idea of a midday trip with kids, with hanboks, walks and photos with the kids, weather is cool enough. Also appreciate your thoughts about being musicians and parents. Made me think of my mom who liked listening to many kinds of music like classical, musicals, pop, etc. She brought us to concerts and the ballet. In university, I got into theater, found myself liking it and working into jobs like Song Ah did. So give  art and music a try, good for the soul too :)

@larus@Jillia Thank you for keeping us posted on new pics and articles as always! Photo of Joon Young getting into a car make me think if it's Director Nah? or that JK !!??!!!

@Sky8lue I think it will be fun to go through your dedicated twitter account for DYLB! And your new "thought cards", thank you!

    :loveu:

Offering a view point on Jung Kyung (I come in peace :)

I have begun thinking of Jung Kyung as a broken violin and being a violin tutor would be her crescendo moment.

In the scene with Dong Yoon about broken violins and bridges, Hyeun Ho learns that Jung Kyung has been "disowned" by Prof. Song. Dong Yoon also says fixing broken violins may be difficult, slow but not impossible.

I was boiling mad when Jung Kyung said "you need my money" to Joon Young. Slapping her was not enough. I will admit now I had this idea of

    :kicks:

    Spoiler

tearing her to pieces, box and ship her off to space maybe send her into exile (very sageuk!), where she can never bother anyone nor be heard from again. :D

In the finale, Jung Kyung has started dressing and having makeup up in warm color palettes. When a girl gets prettied up, I see that as a sign of life and credit her to putting herself back together, that is, before she goes on her apology tour.

I appreciate Junk Kyung being headstrong when it comes to protecting and encouraging the vulnerable artist. How she asks Joon Young not to quit piano, teach the young violinist and speak to the mother, advise Song Ah during master class are a few examples. She is like mama bear fighting for her cubs!

Closing the cycle: What I also find meaningful is after the musical trio tribute to Director Nah, Joon Young returns the blue Mendelssohn music book to Jung Kyung to finally cut the last toxic tie between them (Joon Young already has Song Ah's warm brown handkerchief and has deleted Traumerie in his piano routine).

This parallels to an earlier flash back scene where we find them in middle school. Joon Young asks Jung Kyung to join the musical trio for the chamber orchestra school competition. After winning 1st place, Joon Young was giving back the blue music book to Jung Kyung, to which she replied he can keep it.

I think Hyeun Ho returns as an old friend and colleague to Jung Kyung, as they meet in a backstage dressing room. He will always have a special spot for her in his heart, like a first love but he certainly knows his boundaries. (Dressing room-isn't that the new code for reunion?)

(Aside, Dong Yoon and Hyeun Ho is the drama's "bromance" :)

@Jillia Agree on absence of comic relief. Here in DYLB, it's more a mix of light, medium and heavy/dark moments. Slightly funny/comic is the PR lady combing her bangs for 10 minutes and rep guy fanned it out (that I can recall). :)

Also have to commend PEB for her incredible timing that make kiss scenes super hot. She closes her eyes, turns/angles her head at the last moment, you barely see it. (Others do it so early, I feel annoyed when I see them close their eyes :).

  10. @heartoppaya agree with you much! DYLB is so done well (no comedy relief, but with smart product placements, gif-able moments, tropes). Definitely other dramas should take note :)

@nana4ever Just to add, string musicians put their ring on right hand as mentioned in an earlier scene with Haena and PR lady of Kyunghoo. I think this is to keep their left hand free to play on the strings while the right hand holds the bow. With Joon Young choosing to put the ring on Song Ah's right hand, to him, she is a violinist still :)

  11. Song Ah and Joon Yong I can tell now will stay with me for a while, may be a longer one. It came as a delightful surprise how the story and its telling has somehow moved all of us in many ways and directions.

Appreciate your taking time to update us with postings and pics, thank you @cherrhys88 @Sky8lue @trisail @Y.Q. @rafeusjanela @annamchoi @Jillia.

  12. "I will wait for you" is what I hope to hear next from Joon Young. And the first snowfall is always hopeful and magical :)

I love the way Joon Young is beginning to really open up and assert his self. Realizing this is his only chance to perform with Song Ah, Joon Young made the quick decision to pursue, ask her to allow him to be her accompanist for her graduation recital ... and confess as well.

Thanks you @Y.Q. for your sharing your thoughts and lists. Like you, I feel there is really a lot to process here too. I would think the other accompanist would be glad since she was already paid and could go home early. :)

As @Jillia mentioned, Joon Young seems to be "retiring" only from his piano teacher, not from performing piano.

And if Joon Young will be traveling, come to think of it, would it make sense the final scene could be to revisit the airport arrival scene with Song Ah waiting for him? :)

The competition takes place in Moscow though. But the way from Berlin to Moscow would be shorter I guess. :D I think we will find out whether he'll go back to Berlin or not.

    @Jillia @annamchoi @rafeusjanela @Abirami Ramakrishnan

For professional reasons I would think. Joon Young still has a management contract to fulfill and artists are sometimes booked 2-3 years ahead. He's only in South Korea for a one-year break. And maybe, yes for the competition too, easier to travel to Russia. This could be for ep 16 :)
