Hi all! Currently still on ep. 27 and enjoying all the spoilers here too love the way this drama became such a sleeper hit! Cheers cheers

Random thoughts before I continue to ep. 5:
- Wishing I knew more about who, why or what Taesul and Seohae are actually fighting for.
- PSY action/fight scenes rocks! Pink accents on her pistol & rifle are intriguing (is it metal? is it a special plastic/material that it won't melt with heat when guns are fired)
- Sisyphus title is so cleverly designed. I think the Infinity loop symbol are actually two sigma symbols conjoined.
- Possibly representing Taesul and Seohae and the dilemma of being together creates the infinity loop, resulting to an endless chase bet. past and the future, bet. CB/other chasers and the couple running in circles.
- Opening titles sequence: I noticed X-escalators which I think are based on two wraparound spiral staircases. Persons on each staircase do not meet nor see each other (similar to being on separate timelines). Just to see or meet, one person must exit one staircase and move to the 2nd staircase. It's highly possible both move at the same time and miss each other totally

Hey, got that too, the PSH fight scene in one fluid take! As I watched, dang, was that scene continuous? Had to stop, rewind and confirmed it (about 45 sec long). Also took 10 seconds screen time from Seohae locking the door to the actual start of the fight scene, why so long I'm not sure too.
On 2/19/2021 at 2:32 PM, kboramint said:Woah, the action scenes in Episode 2 are totally cool. I like the fight scene that happened in the apartment. They didn't cut away during the action. It was all one shot. Also, I like that Park Shin Hye did a superhero landing. Deadpool would be proud.
-Interrogation scene, especially the beige room, reminds me much of The Matrix and Mr. Smith. The rotating shot to establish the scene was long-ish, I couldn't help but absorb the beige color.
-Taesul making an explosive in quick time, very MacGyver-ish.
While I honestly have scaled back my expectations of this drama, I still would like to express how I appreciate the director and writers sincere efforts to get the Sisyphus vibe right even by means of these visual homages to other memorable scenes and characters, inadvertently or not. So let's have a fun ride with this one.

Hi all! Also saw E1 on Netflix. I'm suddenly getting the vibe of the film "Terminator", a soldier/fighter arriving from another time (or parallel universe) to save someone in the "present", with the gender twist. Intriguing enough to see 2nd ep.

Hello! Knowing what we know now, It is exciting and overwhelming to begin DYLB, had to stop mid-way in Episode 1. Sharing a few running thoughts:
- Joon Young says "I’m sorry" a lot while Song Ah's name sounds like "I'm sorry", so he's saying her name a lot more than we realize
- Sounds: timing, meter, music, foot steps (like beats), 3x, 4x, silence
- Art - chiaroscuro (contrast of light and dark)
- Levels/ranks and annoying elders- Traumerie/dream
- That is not what I wanted to hear - this thought was in early episodes that I think this might tie up with dialog in later episodes (which I haven't looked into yet
Episode 1 (so far)
1) How Song Ah's violin neck scar has a close up early in the episode (I didn't know what I was looking at before)
2) Joon Young returns home to SK
- Literally arrived same day as concert performance (like in most of his foreign gigs)
- How he missed his Mom much, disappointed that his Mom would not stay for the reception and how sadly he follows her with his gaze as she leaves
- How his new place seemed like a typical hotel room with a welcome gift basket
3) Chae Young In: No one will help you, if you don’t speak up (32:15)
How production elements help with characters speak up
4) Yoon’s strings in Song Ah's violin case (2:58)
5) Establishing running themes
Happy birthday song (or tune) is featured in the very first scene
Joon Young & umbrella
Song Ah & brown hanky (11:45)
5) More in love with the 30-second scene than ever, knowing now that is was a Eunjae adlib. No wonder director-nim chose that as a most memorable scene.

Hi all! Sooorry, life got in the way of watching DYLB! Count me in, will surely catch up Are we on for episode 1 & 2 already?
Thank you all for the lovely posts too.
Ps. @Doan Mai I thought Dimple Couple were gonna make out in the room again! With sudden emotional shift, Joon Young looks at Song Ah with a sizzling hot desire which she picks up very quickly, must be the lingering memory of the piano kiss. One of my fave couple moments.

It has been another week made more wonderful with all the sharing of ice cream moments and goodies. Thank you all!
Shoutout to @typemaru over at twitter, a constant source of DYLB goodies, for being delighted with herself, appreciate the post @annamchoi! I have been thinking about how the meaningful first snowfall relates to DYLB, I realize just now it may be the parallel and contrast to rainfall scenes, hope that makes sense @Jillia.
How the color blue seems to be significant elsewhere in the real world at this time, I would like to share an earlier yet memorable scene where the color red highlights the confrontation and eventual break-up of long-time friends Hyeun Ho and Joon Young. In parallel scenes during ep. 10, it also showed to me the minute differences of how men and women act/react to similar situations of breaks in friendships: Min Sung gives Song Ah the cold shoulder, Song Ah withdraws from Dong Yoon and with Hyeun Ho becomes adversarial with Joon Young.
Upon seeing Joon Young in the auditorium after his master class tryout, Hyeun Ho takes a sip of water first, seemingly to cool himself down or ready himself for battle. Joon Young appears to be calm ("I came as a friend"), in the more neutral brown zone while Hyeun Ho is in the bright red zone all the way, hurting and wanting to hurt.
(final words)
Hyeun Ho: "You shouldn't have like her from the beginning. Even if you had feelings for her you should've stopped. If you couldn't stop, you shouldn't have let her know. If you couldn't do both, you should've told me at least. If you had told me at least once, I wouldn't have let Jung Kyung drift away like that. I would've done anything. I wouldn't have stayed friends with you at least."
Joon Young: "I'm sorry, whatever the reason may be, I'm really sorry. But Hyeun Ho, I didn't want to lose you. Hyeun Ho..."
Hyeun Ho: "Park Joon Young. You already lost me and I'll never come back. There's no need to try."
As Hyeun Ho leaves, Joon Young moves into a muted red zone, mirrors his emotional pool, more hurting, disappointed but not surprised to find himself alone again. I also think that after his exit, Hyeun Ho in the brown zone, suddenly realized how he just shut the door on his closest friend. This was hard to watch, like getting punched in the gut.

HI @Jillia all the possible thousands of parallels just brings us infinte DYLB joy and happiness.
Sharing here my insight to Episode 15. I understand it a little better than yesterday, thanks to getting help from friends here in connecting the dots. I too had sleepless nights leading to finale week and felt anxious watching episode 15-16.
Theme of goodbyes, through death, departure, separation. After the beautiful and sad break up, Dimple Couple meets at the funeral, performs at Song Ah's graduation recital and ends with Joon Young's confession.
"Your every word and every little action concerns me" still resonates even after their break-up. Thank you @Abirami Ramakrishnan for reminding me of the line from Ep. 7-8.

"Song Ah: I'll quit the violin...I think I was happy, that is good enough. " She mentions Brahms and unrequited love. Clever writer-nim parallels Song Ah's feelings for the violin and Joon Young,
Source: galpinote
Joon Young: "I can play Brahms."
I see this like a rain/umbrella moment, that even without the umbrella and without expectations, Joon Young persists with protecting her. Like what @annamchoi said "that he will do anything and everything for her ! Even playing the Brahms!"
SpoilerSource: galpinote
PS1: Joon Young is like from emotion zips to action before thinking. That would be an interesting narrative for voice over and POV!
I love, love this frame and appreciate it much more now. Recalls:
Song Ah: "I love you" to her violin and keeping in mind that she will part with it soon.
Joon Young: "Brahms spent his entire life alone by Clara's side."
Together but apart. We see the reflection of Joon Young in the mirror, giving a caring glance at Song Ah.
Source: galpinote
PS2: I have seen in videos that pianist Seong Jin Cho wipes the piano keys with a handkerchief before a performance (like in final round of Chopin Competition). Art imitating life
PS3: Thank you @Sky8lue for sharing galpinote!

Thank you to @annamchoi for posting F A E Sonata FMV
I also found this FMV and it helped amplify the emotion running through scenes from Song Ah's graduation recital and Joon Young's confession after. The FMV maker reconstructed the full performance by sync-ing drama sequences with the actual musical score, 5 minutes in real time, about 2 minutes in drama time.
Hearing the full music with the violin and piano going back and forth somehow clarified for me how there was a (re)connection between Song Ah and Joon Young during the performance.
We all loved how they held hands after. I also then realized how it is Song Ah who reached out first and Joon Young followed soon after, maybe to give or seek comfort or maybe both to each other.

HI @guestra, cheers to the makers of FMVs who are so ahead that I think we'll let SBS do catch-up so we can enjoy more videos Thanks to this FMV it was nice to re-visit more parallel scenes.
Another heartfelt FMV, made me teary-eyed, thank you @annamchoi

We have seen Joon Young and his Mom slowly reconcile and grow towards a more loving relationship, where change is possible. I would like to add that here in this scene is a pair of realizations: Joon Young fully feels a parent's love and acceptance while Mom begins to "hear" and understand what an amazing son and artist Joon Young really is.
When Mom started to say "I don't know piano..", it recalled to me an early scene where Joon Young visited his mom after her surgery. She told him that "whenever [Joon Young] won, everyone thought it was amazing but it never felt real to me. But when I heard you'll be graduating, that made me happiest." Joon Young replied with his usual quiet smile.
"You have a good son" said his Mom's roommate as he left. And Joon Young is, fulfilling his Mom's wish, despite the emotional and financial burdens caused by his parents.
Me: To everyone here and DYLB "multiverse"
3 hours ago, Jillia said:This is a beautiful gifset and parallel... Also so significant. Song Ah told Joon Young that she liked his performance but she liked him playing "Träumerei" back in the practice room more because it touched her heart. And throughout the drama there was such a distance between Joon Young and his mother. So it was very touching when she told him that "Widmung" touched her heart and made her tear up.

This scene of Joon Young and Song Ah at a cafe paired with the walk along the wall scene also meant to me a change or a transition. Thanks @Jillia for this highlight
I appreciated that these scenes are set in daytime. Joon Young and Song Ah face a bright window reflecting making decisions soberly, in the clear light of day. Also hints warming up to each other, sitting almost side by side, wearing their color coded attire in warm tones.
Their walk along the wall is with daylight too. What a perfect time to have a "word-less" scene between Joon Young and Song Ah, "saying" their honest feelings for each other through soft looks, stares and glances plus of course, with beautiful music.

"Regardless of what I feel, I must always put on the best performance ever." Seeing Joon Young struggle during his piano recital recalls his conversation with Song Ah from the talk concert episode. . Thank you @Jillia !

Hi all! Got this on my watchlist for its sports theme which SBS did well with Hot Stove League, the credits of both the director & writer, and the very reliable veteran young and older actors. Looking forward for a fun watch
