Checking out the "Rest of the Best" there were some dramas I enjoyed. Oasis was interesting drama, but then it started following the typical kdrama plots with a lot of things going in loop, 2nd ML and ML fighting each other, but then caring about each other as well. Overall, it was fine, but I still count it as another drama with potential to be good but not being as good as it could. Killing Vote, well, this drama was very interesting, had me guessing who the killer would be, had a couple of right guesses, had some wrong. But this too, at the end felt a bit draggy, they could have ended it a bit earlier, but then they decided to add some extra scenes, kill some good characters who didn't really require to be killed. But yeah, I did enjoy the drama. I think what really hurt this drama's viewership and ratings was the number of gaps we got in between eps, like they were airing 1 ep per week, and then the episodes were not aired for about 2-3 weeks twice which I think would lead to viewers losing interest to it. Anyway, overall a good watch for me. The one I really enjoyed and loved the most was Song of Bandits. This was very a good action drama, the action scenes were very well choreographed, and the storyline was pretty straight to follow. The cast list was really very good, and I liked how they ended the drama leaving some room left for the 2nd season. I would love to see a 2nd season for that! Trolley started off pretty well as well, and I think overall it was a good drama. But yeah, not the best for me this year. I think I would go with "Song of Bandits" being the best for me among the ones I watched from "Rest of the Best" list. I loved School 2013! Watched it mainly because Jang Nara was the FL there, but stayed for the plot! What I really liked about School 2013 is that they focused on the students' struggles, with very less or no romance (I watched it long ago) plotline involved between the students, and teachers having a big part in the drama. Not really sure if other School Series dramas were the same, since I didn't watch them. So maybe you can help me with that in case you have watched them. But I did enjoy School 2013 a lot!

Talking about Disappointing dramas, well, Well, I think the most disappointing drama for me would also be Heartbeat. Not really a fan of Vampire dramas, so I started this drama with very low expectations, but then saw that the plot had potential, it had fun moments, and seemed like a good fantasy rom-com type of drama. But midway it started losing it all, when I paused it indefinitely, and then officially dropped it when I came to know how what happened in the end. I mean who does write that sort of dramas, and who would really call that drama a rom-com? This had potential to be among the best rom-coms this year, and then boom, it ended up being the worst one for me. Kinda very similar with "Oh! Master" which ended. As for the Iconic Female Leads, we had many this year! My top 3 Iconic characters would be: 1. Dr. Cha (Dr. Cha) - I think Dr. Cha would be the most iconic for me, seeing how she decided to take control of her life just after kind of surviving a near death experience. She didn't really shy away from deciding to follow her passion again, worked on herself and became a good doctor by the end. 2. Moon Dong Eun (Glory) - While I could be commenting a thing or two on how they could have changed her fate at the end, and she kind of had to still pay for what she did to the bullies, but that doesn't mean she wasn't an iconic character. I liked her character, she was patient, resilient, and very smart. She very patiently and meticulously had planned her revenge, and that too in such a way that she would had to hardly get involved. 3. Gu San Young (Revenant) - It was interesting to see how she still decided to move forward despite knowing she had become a vessel for an evil spirit who would use her to kill others. Throughout the drama she came across temptations to cure her disease, threats to dear ones' lives, but still it was interesting how she kept resisting them, and tried her best to get rid of the evil spirit. I also did like Yeo Mi Ran (Love to hate you) and Kim Mo Mi (Mask Girl), so they would be part of my top 5 iconic female characters for 2023. Talking about the tropes or latest trends in the dramas: Multiple seasons something I am not really a fan of. I mean of the main reasons I had decided to go for Kdramas instead of English TV Series was because Kdramas were shorter and without seasons, 16-24 eps and the story concludes. You can move on to another drama. But seeing how Kdramas are bringing in this formula, it doesn't feel so good to wait that much for the seasons. In some cases it is still bearable, like Death's Game released half episodes first and then the other half in like 2 weeks, but then we have had dramas that aired their 2nd seasons in like a year or two years. Not really a fan of waiting that long. Shorter Dramas were interesting to me, but i have mixed feelings for them. There were some short dramas, which still felt long to me. So for me, I think its more on the quality of the writing than number of eps. Give me a good drama and keep it 24 eps long, I will watch it, some of my most favorite dramas have been 24 eps long. But still I think shorter dramas sort of lead to lesser filler scenes. It was refreshing and very good to see several Strong female leads and characters in the dramas though. I think this could be the best trope of this year for me. I seriously feel we got to have this continue, it was really good to see some Female Centric dramas like "Glory", "Dr. Cha", "Revenant", "Strong Girl Namsoon" etc. Finally talking about genre, Revenge was good, but then again I think the only revenge drama I watched was Glory (if I remember correctly), like a purely revenge drama. But still I am waiting for a drama to match the likes of Secret, Money Flower etc. Similarly I liked how we got some supernatural dramas, and look forward to some more this year! More Violence was something, well, I feel like it was good to see it in some dramas like "Worst of Evil", since more violence means stakes are higher there, and that things can go real bad. At the same time it sort of goes into the realism factor. But yeah, I mean we have seen days when they censor knives in dramas (maybe they still do in some), and now we see blood splashing everywhere, so yeah we have come a long way, but Kdramas seem to be getting more graphic wrt to violence. Not really a fan of violence that much, but i feel it is good to see in the dramas where it is required.

My Lovely Boxer is added in my watchlist Chingu! Heartbeat well, I think it could be one of the most disappointing dramas for me in 2023. That ending, nah, I mean how can you call a drama rom-com with that sort of ending. That drama had a lot of potential and they wasted it all Interestingly Noona, this time @agenth Chingu didn't really pay much attention to the small details and loved the drama But yeah, I mean I had to throw away the logic and thoughts and everything related to her stay in the island for 15 years. Overall, I liked the drama, but surely that 15 years stay didn't make sense based on the points you have already mentioned. Yeah, my reacts sort of range something between this to this

Yes, I remember it now! I had forgotten about it and thought you had watched it Yes Chingu, I completed Arthdal Chronicles S2 and I did like it more than S1 as well. What made this season a lot better than previous was that this season better paced than previous one. Previous season being the first season as well took its time in building and developing the plot which made it slow. But this one, I hardly felt had any moment where I felt like they were slowing things down. So lesser eps, but better pace, surely for me this was much better. This surely was a pretty ambitious project, and they were building a totally new universe of their own with different types of species, races and tribes. So yes, that would require some big budget. From what I remember, the writers had a 54 episodes long drama in mind, which would be divided over 3 seasons each having 18 episodes. Which would be why the first season was rather slow, since they were just setting up the universe, introducing new tribes, introducing the leads and their background etc. But since this drama's S1 didn't really do well in terms of ratings, it was sort of cancelled. I mean I wouldn't really be shocked if we wouldn't have S2. So yes, I do think we might have S3, but then again, you never know when, and also since the ratings were not good for this season as well, we might not see S3 as well. But they have kind of concluded the S2 in such a way that, they leave it that way. They didn't really leave it open as they did for S1. So yeah, let's see if we'll have any S3 for this. I started Zombie Detective with low expectations, and I was shocked seeing how good it was! The writing was very good, smart and the drama overall was very good for me. One of the best Zombie dramas for me. Let's just say that his walk was more iconic for me

I am a bit shocked that you didn't watch Kingdom. I had been under the impression that you must have watched that drama. But I will strongly recommend it to you, its a very good drama. When it comes to horror genre, especially the ones involving Zombie, for me something that makes it very good is how vulnerable the characters are to the danger of getting infected themselves, and how they deal with it. In most of the modern day Zombie movies, the leads are borderline superheroes with top guns and all sort of weapons to deal with the zombies. But when you change the era, go back to the time when swords were the main weapons, that's when things become different and the characters end up in a more dangerous situation. Then just like @lebeaucouple Chingu said, you see the group fighting them come up with strategies and tactic to deal with them with their limitations. Kingdom actually did a great job in all those points, and then what made it a lot more special was the politics bad guys were playing in the palace. Overall I think you will like it. When it comes to horror movies, well, I don't think I can rate anything higher than "Wailing" right now. That movie was perfect for me. It was a rather fresh concept for me, where you would be confused and question things. There were some very good deceptions in the movie, and well, the ending was top class for me. The last few minutes of the movie kept me on the edge. I didn't find the movie that scary, but overall the movie was top class for me. As for Zombie movies, I will highly recommend "Odd Family: Zombie on the Sale". This was a very good comedy for me, was totally different from what I thought how it would be. The antidote for the Zombie Virus was also super funny and caught me off guard in the end. Talking about my favorite Grim Reaper, I would say it is Lee Soo Hyuk in Tomorrow despite his limited screen time in the drama. @partyon Noona, I am using the same gif that you have pasted, because that was one of my most favorite scenes of him in that drama,
