  1. Enjoying all the episodes so far. Can’t say I was too shocked about Iksun’s roommate being a guy. Her best friend is Ahn Chi Hong remember? Even if her roommate has some hidden agenda towards her, I have faith that she’ll do her best to protect her relationship with Junwan. Poor Junwan can’t seem to catch a break :( Dr. Do, pls appear more often to cheer him up!!!

On a lighter note, I’m loving the songs this season. I hope we’ll get to see their band practice sessions for this season too ... I’m really curious. They looked like they were having so much fun in the newest band session. It’s really infectious and put me in such a good mood. (And all the wintergarden scenes too but I’ll rave about them in the other thread. Hahaha)

I’m too in love with this show!

  2. Hi all,

I am so excited for the new season to start! Been rewatching the past season’s episodes to refresh my memory. Still loved them all no matter how many times I’ve watched them.

Feels weird for me to have a drama I can ‘come back’ to at the forum. It’s also like a mini reunion of sorts for us here. Looking forward to gushing over the new season with old/new fans of the show here!

Big thanks to everyone who have been translating & sharing all the recent articles/videos. Really grateful for all the updates! :D

    1. What was the moment that made you jump onto WG ship and STAYEDDDDDDD?

    2. Elaborate your thoughts on JeongWon's repression

    3. What were some of the impressive micro-expressions from both YYS's JeongWon and SHB's GyeoUl throughout the scene?

    4. DO YOU THINK THEY HAD THEIR MEAL DATE BEFORE THE KISS???????????? WHY AND WHY NOT?

    5. you guys can add more haha I can't think much right now

    1) Not my cup of tea —> Maggots! It prob wasn’t love then but you could tell that his impression of her had changed. (Impressive micro-expression eg1)

In the episode (Ep 4?) where he slid the snack to her oh-so-subtly, shipping them real hard then. Really cute scene.

    2) S u p e r  repressed.
Based on what is mentioned and on how he acts around his close friends, you can tell that he doesn’t really show his true self to others. (Only his family members & the 99ers know him well)

And the year that his dad passed away was like a catalyst to the start of a chain of events that caused him to finally seriously think about his priesthood dream. So his mind & heart must have been in great turmoil and we all knew what happened when the dust finally settled & he decided to show what he repressed for so long... :phew:

    3) For me, not so much of micro expression (they were really good throughout) but the one scene that left a deep impression was the one where they were waiting outside Yeong-Ji’s room (ep 10?). I think it very subtly told me about his mindset/change in attitude regarding his inner turmoil. And the beautiful culmination of that episode was when he sang Confession is not Flashy.

    4) No. Just for the fact that I would like to see him get nervous over asking GU out for dinner. I also want to see these two cuties having their first date outside the hospital... not in their scrubs but in their own clothes!! Hahaha.

    5) Do you think there’ll be wedding bells in Season 2? Which couple?

I personally wish for our WG couple of cos. (But I think they’ll troll us and mb Jun-wan & Iksun will get married?!?)

Pls don’t make us survive on crumbs for two more season PD-writer nim!! Please...

  4. Just finished watching the last episode and I’m feeling all sorts of emotions right now. Happiness mainly cos one major ship sailed and we got what we wanted & more......:D

Tonight’s episode felt really emotional, not just because of the patients’ stories (I was crying so much today!) but also because we can see how much the residents & even the Med students have grown. Everyone got their little time to shine on screen... it was so great to see. It really felt like we were there along with them the past year. I hope we’ll see more of them next season.

And of cos whenever the fab 5 are together, the moments are always heart-warming. Loved that they all sang together for their final band session this season. Seems like the director saved all his best till the last! (Lots of fan service in today’s episode. ) Knowing that its the last episode for this season also made me a little wistful. I’ll be missing their lovely camaraderie on/off screen. Will definitely be hitting that replay button to rewatch everything till the new season hits!

Thanks everyone for being on this HP journey together. Pls keep the updates and posts coming!

  5. Hospital Playlist is obviously not just a show about lovelines. But it is a show that focus a lot on relationships... romance being one of them so we can’t really ignore that.

Though the show is not primarily about who the 5 should date or end up with, romantic relations are being explored in the story and they do have an impact on the storyline. Like in real life, emotions can play a part in our decision-making and their decisions affect how the story goes...hence the attention to all their various lovelines.

We’ve already seen huge impacts on the storyline based on love related issues.

Songhwa is moving away to Sokcho, partly because of the mess between her, Capt Ahn & Ikjun.

Junwan is in distress because the love of his life is going to be away from him for the next 3 years.

It may irk others that JW’s love life seem to be all that some are talking about this week but one can’t really help it as his storyline is the only one that is built on the fundamentals of whether he’ll be here next year based on what he chooses ...being a priest or to stay as a doctor? He’s had the same friends for the past 20 years. His family had always been there for him. His love for God has never wavered either. So......Why now? Why this point in his life?

It didn’t help that the director/writer decided to bait us & withhold his decision until the final episode. His story could very likely be the highlight of the last episode.

It’s great that they’ll all written as capable individuals, excellent in their work & having a wonderful friendship with one another but it’s also very human to fall in/out of love. I love these characters more for how real they seem...once we’ve gotten a glimpse into their friendship, their work life, their family & of cos, their love life. So if love is going to make them happier & more fulfilled, then why not? It’s precisely because of how well written these characters are that I’m here laughing & crying along with them. So I’ll root for them & for the love they all so rightfully deserve. (Is it weird that I’m so in love with fictional characters?!? Haha.)

Appreciating everyone’s effort in sharing HP related stuff. Thank you.. pls keep them coming. One more episode to go for this season!

I think so too. The character profile just said that he had a love in his 20s and he got honor in his 30s, but being a priest was still his dream. No indication that this was a person HAHA  As a whole, to me, the sentence implies possible paths he could’ve taken with respect to his profession. Maybe his 20s love was photography and his 30s honor was being a doctor??? IDK lol but yeah no clear indication that the “love” was romantic :D As compared to Songhwa’s profile which clearly talks about dating in the same paragraph of her first love, the paragraph for Jeongwon was talking about aspirations.

It’ll be funny if JW’s phone has plenty of photos of Dr Winter, similar to what Ikjun had done for her. (You know... with his LOVE for photography and all...:phew:)

Ah, yes! I agree about the music and songs playing a vital part of telling the story. I was actually referring to the existence of the band HAHA. Sorry for the confusion. As much as I love the scenes, sometimes I still feel the disconnect perhaps because of the lack of context of how it started. So aside from the POVs and flashbacks of the specific characters, I hope to see flashbacks of their friendship and how the band played a part :D.

Oops. Sorry about the misunderstanding...my bad.

Knowing the director/writer duo, they’ll prob serve us those scenes in crumbs scattered throughout the seasons... like dangling some carrot in front of us and we’ll be baited anyway... <_<

Thanks, Chingu! I also read an article about the band being an avenue to bring past music HAHA just wondering if it had contributions to the narrative. I guess I’m still having trouble understanding how they’ll tie together the band scenes with the rest of the story.

    You’re welcome! :D

I think the music is very very important in this show. After all, it wouldn’t be named Hospital Playlist if music was not relevant to the story.  If I’m not wrong, there’s a thematic approach to the appearance of the songs in their relative episodes. The lyrics all seemed to help express the characters’  thoughts or they have some significance when they appear during a scene. I too didn’t catch some of their significance until many of the talented friends here pointed them out in their previous posts. :D

I'm still unsure about the role and significance the band plays in their friendship but I'm guessing that it has a deep connection with SH. The very first scene of the drama was about SH discussing the band with SHwa. And now that our doctors are faced with the possibility of parting ways, there’s a threat that the season may end with the band breaking up. I can't really recall if this was already discussed in the past posts but I'm also wondering about SH's intentions in restarting the band. I just find it interesting why someone who'd rather spend his time alone watching shows like SH would be the one to push for the band.

When I rewatched ep 4 where they were still planning to start the band in the past, I noticed a few things:

    • SH hesitantly claimed that he was good at piano and came from a musical family hence they owned various musical instruments.
    • This confused Jwon who knew SH ever since, implying that SH was lying.

Hi, sorry to cut short your post but to answer your questions.

Based on my understanding, (I could be wrong) SH lied about his piano abilities in the past because then, he had a crush on  Songhwa so he was desperate to be accepted into the band. Haha.

As for the current situation, I believe that it’s related to his sister. He requested it just before Jeongwon dad’s passing. So it was prob Feb/ Mar 2019. I think he just came back from the States (his sister passed away in Dec 2018?) I remember he mentioned his sister teaching him Canon so I’m guessing the instruments and music were a huge part of her life. He could be using the band to help him cope with his loss.

Storywise, the director & writer mentioned before that they love music from the past. It was easy to incorporate them in the reply series because they were set in the past era. So in order for them to have an excuse to do so in this show, they decided on a band which will also give the show a more fun element. :)

Hope it helps. Pls correct me if I gave any inaccurate info.

  10. I think it was pretty telling on Songhwa’s part about how she felt about Capt Ahn. There was a scene in the garden where he was complaining about the patient being out of line and she quickly (gently) told him to let the patient’s wife know that she can contact her. It was her telling him that they should keep their conversations to work related stuff/ drawing a line between them.

I had a better view of Capt Ahn in previous episodes but ep 11 made me so disappointed in him. He pushed the boundaries & made Songhwa uncomfortable. It wasn’t just at the dinner but when he was in the car with her. (It was wrong in so many ways & I felt for Songhwa then) I think a part of him was feeling anxious (with regards to his rivalry with IJ) and he really wanted to make some sort of connection with her outside of work.

I felt that the reason why Songhwa didn’t say something outright is because of

    1) his illness

    2) he only had one more year to his board exam.

In a way, they’re related. She’s such a considerate person and knowing all the hard work he had put in to / what he had to go through to become a doctor must make her more cautious of how she treated him. (If she rejected him outright, he might quit /break)

Moving to Sokcho is one choice she can make without

    a) hurting Capt Ahn too directly.

    b) giving herself time & space to think about what she wants (with regards to IJ)

    c) heal (physically & mentally). I think what the patient said did affect her to a certain degree. It might not have had such an emotional impact had it not happen during the IJ-Capt Ahn mess.

Sometimes we just need some breathing space. I think because she’s been such a capable person all around, people forget that she’s human after all, not Ghost.
