hello everyone, popping by and i see some familiar people  

 

currently putting myself on pause after Ep 13 so that i can binge (and end my misery once and for all) once the finale airs this week. Just some of my two cents on the drama after watchin up to Ep 13 (just my personal opinions, there is no right or wrong answers! might be biased but i will try to be objective, dont intend to offend anyone here :)) 

 

I have watched all of PHR's work since Dream High and i think my favourite one is I Hear Your Voice? She has a knack for writing strong female and male leads, but i am not feeling strong lead vibes from this drama? She has written very good second leads as well but so far i had no problem supporting the past main couples which she tries to push (even in DH when she switched from Taec to KSH) except for this drama?? IMO, HJP just alludes the ML story and i think i associate it mainly because of the strong premise and connection to the FL? In almost all PHR's drama after Dream High, she almost always have a background story for the ML, and in most cases they are "strong/ special abilities". Almost all will have a past connection with the female lead if you realise (though i am not saying she has to do that for all her dramas)? I think it's because of such connection that makes many viewer get swoony (at least for me ) for the leads' omg destiny/ first love / love that transcends over time? In this drama, the entire premise (ep 1) was on JP x Halmeoni which earned us loads of tears right from the start. Then the penpal connection with female lead for 15 years? Yeap, viewers like me are half-sold right from the start.

 

About the ML, acting was great, emotional scenes were great. The choices he made and how he got greedy was completely justifiable imo. He was not confident in most of the thing he do and of course this stems from family pressure and stuff. But then that's it though? The one thing he was confident and competitive in was his feelings for the FL? I mean, he worked in a Startup, but he wasn't ambitious enough to lead his team to higher heights? Kind of feel bad for the other Sans since they stuck with him from Day 1. He just suddenly fell for the FL (no idea how though) maybe because she just happened to fall from the sky? Idk man... and suddenly his ambitions / goal was to be w the female lead? Hmmm... maybe he did had ambitions to create a good company, but it wasn't portrayed strongly ? Love Triangle takes up majority of the plot lol

 

About SML, as mentioned in my first para, he has a very strong start and a tough childhood (who doesn't love a guy with sad story that looks like Seonho). While he was confident in most aspects in life, he wasn't in relationships which i will justify based on his relationships with people from his childhood. The only sincere r/s he had so far was probably with Halmeoni, which he felt bad back then for misunderstanding and his little penpal Dalmi. Well, yes it started of as a lie with Halmeoni, but i believe a lot of the subsequent letters reflects JP's true feelings. The most regrettable thing was, he wasn't true or confident to his feelings, which is shown on several occasions with him denying his feelings. I am sure DM would have ended up with JP right from the start if he confessed he was little penpal using a fake name. But then again, if that happened, there won't be a drama to watch. LOL

 

About FL. Tough family conditions too. Experiencing divorce, and death of her parent. Struggling to make ends meet, which led her to having deprived education background. but its fine, because i still love her character (at least at the start). She was daring and confident in standing up for her beliefs and her teammates. I feel that her feelings from DS are 90% stemmed from the fact she thought he was her penpal who stood by her 15 years during tough times. 15 years is a long period, to make an impact (obvious enough from the fact she rejected many guys in her life because of the penpal friend). Once she finds out DS aint her penpal but JP instead, it's understandable that she was angry and confused (i think viewers were confused too). But then what happened afterwards was hmm idk questionable. She pushed DS away (noble idiocy) which obv shows she has true feelings for him (in a span of only 3 months). But then it was kinda cringe when they showed how she couldn't forget DS for the next 3 years because idk man half of the r/s for the past few months was stemmed from a lie, and she kind of miraculously differentiated between the JP and DS being separate beings? As a viewer, that 15 years penpal has a v great impact, and is the foundation to her r/s and i am abit upset how she disregarded this whole 15 years once she found out the truth? I felt like at this point, the FL's character isn't well developed enough/ the writers are just starting to get lost).  I felt like we needed a moment for her to talk it out with JP (she know his feelings for her) and to reject him properly or smth so he can move on??? But i guess it's only gonna happen in the last 2 episodes because they need to milk this love triangle longer LOL.

 

The timeskip. Seriously? It's just lazy writing to me? The whole show is called Startup but we didnt see much about the other Startup teams, but only SST? And for god sake, DM worked with IJ for 3 years and no one told her Halmeoni was going blind?  that was just a big plot hole lol. And sorry, to me the whole Yongsan revenge plot was just stupid LOL and unnecessary. I also get that SH & CS are cute but lol not feeling their loveline yet? Can we also please do some justice for IJ? Is she a cameo or what, there is so little screen time for her ?? 

 

All in all, sighs, the story was too heavy focused on a dragged out loveline. I can't justify the leads feelings for each other (ok maybe i can for DM because she spend 15 years yearning for this fella but then he turned out to be a fake tho so idk) I feel like we need more justice for JP and his one sided feelings. But then he had 3 years, and did nth sigh, though I get that he was giving DM space and maybe he was apologetic. The moral of the story for his character is that life is filled with regrets LOL. And ok though i feel DM X DS will end up together, the entire ep 14 (based on clips because i have not watched this ep yet) idk why they act like there's a huge obstacle blocking their love. LOL. After watching the preview, im fine, the 2 leads deserve each other. Please just do justice to IJ and JP?? They deserve happy ending too ?

omg so long since i stepped into this thread, but i had to comment !! Ep 11 was amazing, kudos to LJK & MCW. Was so heart-wrenching to watch! At least Hyun-soo isn't alone this time  Jiwon loves HS for who he is, regardless of his true identity. I hope they can pull through and start afresh. Also glad to have Haesoo back in his life, and she is willing to stand up for what she has done and not let Hyunsoo take the blame. The only obstacle now is BHS & his creepy family ! Someone please expose this freak?? And what is BHS's affiliation to DMS though? 

 

I really loved the scene when HS when berserk seeing JW getting beaten up. He loves her without himself knowing and he will do whatever it takes to protect his wife from harm. And of course the realization that hits him when he was driving away that JW knew all along, but had not abandoned him!! He must had hurt so bad especially when he thought he will not see JW again (when she ignored his calls)! Thank god JW came back for him. Also love it when they finally had a heart to heart talk and finally facinge the consequences at the end of this episode together. ARGH can only wait til next week for the next episode.

wow im impressed, you guys are like detectives and had guessed that something was fishy with the Head Nurse from way back.  Although, we had alr pretty much guessed it i am just kinda curious about the Head Nurse aka MY's Mum (?) :

 

- so if she is MY's Mum, so she presumably did plastic surgery and got a psychiatrist degree to work at the hospital? I mean she kinda had a perfect disguise given her position in the hospital and how the Director didn't see through her?
- she seems sad when KDH was sick and going to pass away tho? Was she perhaps remorseful? 

- what's her intention of going back to MY tho? Redeem herself? I mean she told KT that it's impressive that MY was able to grow up well after all that has happened. 

-Why did she kill ST&KT's Mum tho, since she was their housekeeper? ST's birth secret perhaps? But if ST was her son, why doesn't KDH seem aware?

 

This show is earning my tears right to the end, but i am still hopeful that it'll be a happy ending  

 

anw, i really love the scene where the Director chided the Dad who wanted his daughter's liver! and i really agree with MY, bystanders often ends up causing more harm than the abusers by turning an eye to the abusing

Back after watching the first episode and i must say the first episode was great?  It gives us insights to the dynamics of HS's family and JW's interaction with them. So it seems like HS isn't the hospital director & pharmacist's son since he is DHS (which i didn't expect) Wonder where the real BHS went then?

 

Plot was rather tight and fast paced actually? They solved one crime in this episode, and let viewers know BHS = DHS? And DHS kidnapping MJ right from the start? Anyone watched the NETFLIX series "You"? It's kinda similar like the psychopathic male lead locked ppl up in the basement (and subsequent murdering them) because they posed a threat to him. But obviously MJ is going to survive in this case.

 

They are feeding us with alot of happy moments at the start so i am sure they will wreck us at the back.

 Just a disclaimer, i am not in the psychology field so i may be wrong >< but i do have my thoughts on this! to simplify my viewpoint i shall just use the term ASPD because clinically, these 2 are hard to differentiate.

 

I think this is a difficult question because it's actually really hard to define what love really is? Love itself is interpreted differently by different people. I think in the case of ASPD they can feel love, but their definition of love and the subsequent actions resulting from it will be different from the societal perception/ norm of love? Let's also not forget ASPD beings tend to put themselves above others aka self-serving, meaning that they act base on their own needs and desires without consideration of others' feelings. If we were to talk about "normal" love, then i don't really think ASPD beings can really feel/have true love? Because in a "normal" love, it shouldn't be self-centred/ self-serving. Meaning you will be willing to put your other half before you, and consider their feelings in your decisions? However, maybe in "abnormal" love, that's their perception of love? I think it's also interesting to note that ASPD may be good at pretending to be in love if their partner is someone that will be useful / or will serve them some form of purpose in their self-serving journey. Of course, i believe there are still positive outcomes in the case where the healthier partner elludes a positive influence on their partner. Probably it will be so in this drama when Hee Sung learns to love, and wants to become a better person?

 

However, i do believe they can be reformed. I believe it is of course important to first recognize  yourself that you want to change! I think this applies to all forms of mental issues? It may be a bit more tricky with ASPD beings because they often don't recognize a problem with themselves, but instead believe it's others that needs to change. 

 

Of course, all these are just my own thoughts. I am no expert in psychology, but i am interested in knowing more!! Hope to hear more viewpoints on this of course or please feel free to correct if i had made any erroneous statements.

@partyon yay thanks for starting this event! It'll be interesting to look back at this again once the drama ends. Hahah, have made my choices ^^ 

 

Based on the trailers, rather than a psychopath, Heesung feels more like a sociopath? I believe he gmight have gotten together with Jiwon, not knowing what love is. But like the Director said at the press conference, Heesung has evil seeds within him. But when Heesung meets Jiwon he learns love and becomes 'good'. So i believe while part of the love was pretending, he did eventually fall in love with Jiwon, enough for him to feel bad for her meeting him (based on trailer dialogue). Since it seems like he does have some conscience, for him to feel sorry / guilt, the preliminary looks of it is that Hee Sung is a sociopath, since psychopaths have no conscience.

 

I feel that Heesung may not be innocent. He may not have killed, but he could have played a part in it, aka accomplice? On the flip side, he may have had a compelling motive for him to kill? I am not sure what kind of ending will be satisfying, so i'll continue guessing. I am guessing probably Heesung will own up to his sins, repent and restart a new life with his actual identity together with Jiwon and their daughter?  if not, maybe either one of them will die in the end?

if Head Nurse really turns out to be MY's Mom then i must say wow she really good at putting up a facade?? I mean th Director (who was supposed to be good at reading ppl) didn't even see through her? Or maybe he did?

Wow episode 10 was filled with tears man  i feel so sorry for KT !! He carries the responsibility for keeping ST safe and happy, at the expense of his own... even calling his short getaway with MY and his temporal happines with MY a dream that he cannot own!! I am still upset ST didn’t apologize or come to realization while KT did tried to kill him, he did not and ultimately he was the one that left KT to die! But obviously, given his autistic conditions, that’ll be a stretch. I am now just intrigued by this line between KT & ST during the reconcilation scene? Why did ST say he liked KT when he first saw him? Could it be one of them was adopted? Or was it simply just smth we could brush away because he was actually facing the doll the nurse gave him?

and also, i love drunk JR. HAHAHAH i can see the reconcilation btwn JR & MY in progress

 

also, i think most ppl here made the guess right that Park Ok Ran was the mother. She’s seriously creepy? Not sure if the robe she always wear carries any meaning? Or like many mentioned, maybe she was linked to ST+KT’s Mum’s death? And it was witty how they referenced the Boy Who Cried Wolf to MY in today’s episode! The preview seems awesome, i hope for ST to come into realization that liking doesnt equate to possessing ??? and welcoming the idea of having MY into their family circle and for all 3 to find balance and happiness

Here after episode 9 (love NETFLIX) and must say , damn this drama is like a roller coaster ride and with each episode being better than the other!! I was so happy when finally KT had sometime for himself, doing things he wish to do, with the girl he likes! And boy yes some progress with MY. Funny was when the deer interrupted their kiss lmao and MY be killing the deer 

i can't imagine KT's burden, because he had to even lie / not be truthful towards ST just for a little time to himself  because he knew very well ST could only rely on him (and even to the extent of obsessed) + well his mum pretty much brought him up as ST's caregiver before her death.... i was feeling so happy when the belated confession towards MY was delivered + a peck (seriously given their sexual tension i was expecting more but ok) !! But that last scene was so devastating!!!... i was seriously hoping someone could stop ST at the end because obviously while KT did hesitated in saving ST back in the frozen lake, he couldn't bring himself to do it! Instead ST was the one who abandoned KT back in the lake back then and he may not had realized that... only MY's knows the truth. Maybe their mother's last wish will come true? MY will become ST's best friend, and let him realize certain things eventually... But either way, KSH's acting was superb man. I laughed throughout the episode, but ended up crying at the end!

 

And okay, it was also an interesting touch they brought in JR and MY's relationship. JR's feelings actions are relatable i guess, because such things are common. I guess JR (as a caregiver) will start to understand MY more (after reading her books) and hopefully reconcile with MY. It's progressive, but it evident JR has come into terms as to why she and KT won't be together and why he chose MY instead. I am just wondering if she will end up with the CEO lol.

here after the latest episode and yes, more revelations to the past i guess? So they are referencing MY's childhood to the Bluebeard folktale? Interesting, then perhaps the Mum's death/ missing was linked to the Dad? I just want to know why the Mum forbids MY's interaction with the outside world and KT (aka her Prince)... oh not forgetting the butterfly story with KT? Just wondering if the butterfly backstory will have links with MY or her family?

 

I love how although the plot is leaning towards the dark side, there's still comic relief from JR's mum, Jaesu and the CEO Lee? And is it me or i am getting jealous vibes from KT when CEO Lee say he is MY's man lmao. I AM ALL IN FOR A JEALOUS KT 

 

Kudos to SYJ's acting man, the sleep paralysis cries were so heartbreaking!!!! Thank god there's KT around this time to hug her  please let the healing begin. And please KT, stop holding back, you deserve happiness, you deserve to express yourself and we want more than just a hug with MY

Yay i am back here after catching up to the latest episode!! 

 

I am truly curious what happened between MY her Mum and her Dad. Why does her Dad want to kill her so bad? And the flashbacks are really interesting? I mean in one of the scenes, they did talk about how MY's Dad built their mansion for the family i mean i believe that kinda signifies that the Dad and Mum are in love? So what changed, and why did MY's mother die and even appear in her nightmares/sleep paralysis + the scene where she was driving at night and she hallucinates her presence at the backseat. And its also creepy in one of the flashbacks with the Mum combing MY's hair, she said MY was her best creation? Hmm maybe MY's Mum only treated her as a creation instead of a child out of love? Idk .. i am so intrigued!! It was so sad in Ep 4, the scene when MY's Dad strangled her  she was smiling while crying... It's upset tho, because i think in the current society, mental disorders often get neglected in "normal-looking" people. 

 

On the other hand for KT's family, while of course being financially less comparable to MY, i feel a sense of similarity to MY's situation. in a way that KT's existence was because of ST? Like his Mum said he is needed just to accompany ST. It must be so heartbreaking for KT because all he really want is a portion of his mother's love   It's also interesting that MY told KT she feels kinship is one of mutual advantage? Actually i do relate to this statement from MY's POV. It may be justifiable for her to feel this way (have to watch more to find out tho)given what was shown. I am just curious why KT doesn't feel the same despite （based on the flashbacks) being treated only as a guardian for ST. I mean him being in the psychology field i feel is somewhat related to his responsibility towards KT. While MY and ST are from different backgrounds, i feel like they face somewhat similar issues when it comes to kinship. It is interesting how they grew up differently and their views of kinship being opposites. Probably a key difference is KT having at least ST at his side all this time while MY had no one?

 

JR is also a mysterious character as well. She seems to be hiding a lot of her true self and emotion. I wonder why she has such strong dislike towards MY? Since they knew each other in the past, had something happened? 

 

Aside i am curious how did the CEO Lee know what MY had said to KT? Like her saying she wants him and stuff... i mean has it happened before? His warning to KT seems like those whom MY interacted with or had said the same things to didn't end well?

Hi guys, i am late into the game but i am here only after Ep 1 (lol)! So far i am loving the premise where they made use of a fairy tale ( i presume) to draw viewers into the actual story setting? And i really love how this story revolves around mental issues, which is often neglected but has been gaining awareness in the recent years. While many of us appears to be normal, but deep down i guess everyone has their own mental struggles, be it of different extents. I can see (or at least i feel) this drama will be a healing one already. While i feel it won't "normalize" people's views on mental well-being, i believe it does brings about more awareness on mental issues, latent or not and hopefully assure us that having mental issues isn't something to be ashame of. I like that it also brings us to insights of working is the psychiatric ward and how these workers are patient and noble in the dealing and healing of these patients.  i have to watch more to find out, but this is just my two cents based on Ep 1 lmao. 

 

Anw, SYJ is so pretty?? And she is totally slaying her gothic styling and of course her normal styling(? sorry im still at Ep 1). I love her voice!!!! While i do not have much knowledge on ASD, i think she is doing a pretty decent one portaying actions opposite to the norm. Also love her deep voice which i think it's kinda soothing and maybe "witch-like", probably something she wants to portray as well since she acts the opposite of the norms. And they showed glimpse of her past where her Dad actually tried to kill her? probably she's suffering from PTSD or sorts that led her to developing ASD somehow  (or maybe not). Not an expert here but probably need to watch more to find out.

 

Next off, yas KSH is finally back (tho we caught glimpse of his cameos in HDL & CLOY). And yay for him finally pairing with someone that is around his age!!! Both their visuals match so well, i can't wait to see how their r/s unravel. AND THOSE ABS DAYUM, boy has been working out   but it's definitely touching how he cherishes his brother despite his mental issues. Maybe he took up psychology just so he could get closer to the brother? 

and got to say MST is doing a great job portraying an autistic kid so far? That's real solid acting there!! I wonder what is the back story behind those butterflies? That said, i will continue watching to catch up to the latest episodes !!
