@shazbinjin Yeah you’re probably right on that one but for the most part I have heard it’s loved more than it is not  Sometimes people just dislike/hate on something cause of the so-called hype, so they may not even judge it based on merit itself, thats why some say CLOY is overrated etc. or maybe I too had too high of expectations thinking CLOY could be like the kDrama equivalent of Parasite. Technically it has that parallel in which they both lured the international audience into K-Ent, so it’s hard not to feel bad about what happened.

Is anyone else having withdrawals already from not receiving more updates after yesterday/today  Funny how we managed to persevere like a camel in all those months of drought in BinJin desert. Yeah I totally get you, I mean our frustration does not need to mean disrespecting the winners, it’s just a matter of difference in opinion I guess. And yeah basically the fact that they got so many nominations also created the expectation that they would bag at least some awards! It irritates me the more I think back about both HB and SYJ’s acting, they are so elite. Oh well if anything, perhaps we can just hope and pray that CLOY opens the door for them to better opportunities and better recognition in the future.

Sigh I want to ignore the trolls and negative energy here but I have to say something. One moment I get annoyed and the next moment it just makes me laugh. First of all, this is a fun and casual thing right that distracts us from our daily lives so it shouldn’t be taken toooooo seriously. Significantly, we are here to root for both Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin especially together, so I don’t understand why we could be divisive, it’s happening one too many times, we shouldn’t have to take sides here. In this house, we protect both BinJin with equal measure, so any insinuation otherwise doesn’t stay true to the purpose of this forum. Also, I think we have established that this shipping is not for the faint hearted and it can be such a rollercoaster ride with so many ups and downs, so it makes it even harder when people on the same boat create friction, please remember that we were brought here by BinJin in the first place. It’s inevitable to have differences in opinion (it’s not normal for us to think the same way all the time, cos that’d make us a CULT amirite? K hope u guys remember that reference) and I believe various perspectives are welcome and actually enriches the diversity here but we should try to be more respectful and responsible in conveying our views. Behind the screen, there are real people with feelings so we should remember as how we wish to be treated in person should also apply online among those we meet virtually.

 

As for the doubters and what not, I get it sometimes we need reassurance but we have already addressed the issue like sooooo many times thats why a lot of us here feel tired of this recurring pattern. Like if you are not convinced by whatever we say, then what do you want us to do? And to the trolls especially, whats your motive, do you want us to agree with you? If so, the number you have dialed is unreachable. Please try again never. Byeeeeeeeeeeee.

I have watched DOTS,MLFTS, Goblin but didn't like any of those . CLOY is the only exception for me and definitely deserves better.

What we can do now is just console each other and share some support. It is so ironic that the story which was all about korea and its koreanness didn't get recognised in its home turf but became a frenzy internationally. A single award won't change its fate. You won millions of hearts. Well done.

I doubt if any of the other dramas will appeal to such a wide spectrum of audience from various age groups to across all genders. That's why CLOY is what it is. It is not the only drama out there on Netflix.. And many newcomers liked CLOY first without knowing who SYJ-HB were before. That alone says all about CLOY power.

 the disappointment feels raw still. Me too I tried watching all those other shows and while they were maybe good in their own right, I feel robbed that CLOY which I thought was more elite did not share a similar recognition at the awards show. The appeal of the show to me was that it’s so realistic (minus the paragliding stuff), the feels were so real. Ugh pain. But I suppose this should not undermine the special value this show holds not only to us but to SYJ, HB, the director, writer, all other cast and crew. They really opened up the door of Kdrama to the rest of the world especially during such difficult times of covid.

Also I can’t even with people who says tonight proves CLOY as overrated, they are just jealous that the show received so much positive attention.

 

I agree, the forum here is like a support system now, feel better after sharing our thoughts and to know that we are not alone in this. It’s okay to be sad about it today, I am sure we will make peace with it one day (I think lol hopefully). Hugs sisters!

Okay so I've distracted myself the whole day with work and had time to cool down a little.... but I need to get this out of my chest. Can't lie, still not over it. I am more upset that they did not get more recognition at the awards show than the lack of intimacy! Btw, I concur that it is OK to feel upset, and doesn't mean that we're hating on other actors/shows, I personally just wanted it so much for both of them. But it wasn't meant to be, so we will eventually make peace with that.

 

However, it didn't really occur to me that their "distance" invalidated the receipts that we have been collecting over these two. I've read on here and twitter as well that some people took tonight as confirmation that "oh right they are not more than friends after all". I agree with most of you with not expecting much to begin with (in terms of their intimacy, not so much on them not winning, uwaaa still bitter, but im cool cool cool).

Well girl... if you been watching these two closely, you know very well that HB has heart eyes over SYJ on more than one occasion. In my humble observation, he does have to "work harder" to "act neutral/indifferent" than SYJ because this whipped boy know his eyes tend to betray their secret so, sometimes his "cold" body language overcompensates this. Whereas SYJ has always been more or less "consistent", though we still catch her slip-ups from time to time

 

2. "What chemistry, they looked so aWkw@Rd!"

Building from the point above... so guys, why, why and why in the world do you think these two people who you can testify yourself that have the best chemistry on and off screen can look "awkward" with each other if there was nothing to "hide". Personally, it wasn't awkwardness per se, they were trying to be indifferent because otherwise, as many have said, unwanted attention would be placed on them on such a supposedly glamorous night. As selfish as we are to see them confirm their relationship, let's understand that their personal relationship is not a brand, it's very much intimate between two people that you can't fault them wanting to protect it at all costs. Yes I wish they would just let it out already but I have to remind myself to respect their choice and have faith that this is not about not wanting to share with us fans, perhaps it's about protecting something so deeply personal and meaningful to both which a lot of public scrutiny may just add undue pressure and think of it as they are not willing to lose each other over this, so if they have to keep it between them for a while longer, be it. And also, even if they were openly dating, did we really think HB would carry SYJ to the stage to collect the awards or/and do something like what Ryan Gosling and Rachel Mcadams did years ago at MTV Movie Awards? lol. Calm down now, we know they are not big on PDA anyway. I think the sweet nods, half smiles they been giving each other is their way of "publicly holding hands" to lend each other the support. Plus, if you really doubted them tonight, I leave it to you to deduce whether cLoSe Fr!enD$ meet abroad and do domestic shiz together and spotted to have meals together (2 that we know of). AND AND AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, SYJ'S CHRISTMAS PHOTO, she really could have chosen anything else and after learning what Christmas means in SK, I'm convinced that she did that to say indirectly that HB is her special guy. Besides, we all know their afterparty was probs rockin (imma need some BinJin fics...........).

One of my first thoughts of that picture was a guy who hasn't seen a friend that he's worked with since a while so he went to say hey whats up. As much as I was envious to see their intimate pics on past award shows, it reaffirms the point that SYJ wouldn't have done that if they were really an item, as we know how private she is and plus she actually denied it in an interview. Plus, if anything if you want to play along with this theory, HB has had plenty of time with SYJ outside the show that they didn't need to be joined at the hip at such a public event.

 

4. Last but not least, like many of you, I feel like their speeches today both on stage and backstage, is a bit of signal to BinJin nation and CLOY nation... like subtle "we see you and we appreciate you". Again, thank you to everyone who voted and made this possible that they did not leave empty handed. They have captured our hearts and that trophy will symbolise that. These two are magic, I believe that and I am hopeful that some kind of announcement is imminent!

 

I am thankful for this forum more and more because I think I'd be more upset if I didn't have this outlet to share thoughts with and read all of your insights that make me feel better a lot of the time. Let's sail on, i think we dropped a few shoppers along the way, but the journey continues as the force of the ship is strong on this one

As much as I tried not to expect anything, I already had the image of HB accepting the Best Actor award and giving his speech while the camera pans over SYJ doing her best not to cry cause she so proud of her man. Meanwhile, as SYJ accepts her award, the camera focuses on HB smiling real hard and proud of his woman that the rest of the world appreciates what he appreciates of her talent. But I guess.......................

 

That said, thank you to everyone in BinJinNation and CLOYnation who made sure they did not leave empty handed, they both did say that it feels more meaningful due to the recognition not only by Korean fans but also international ones. It’s so bittersweet.... 

 

Here’s to hoping that their future ahead is brighter than ever and extra hoping that future is them together dominating everything they touch because they absolutely deserve the recognition and more.

HB and HJM pretty much pushed each other away when "Cut!" was called.  Mind you, HJM,  like SYJ, had also co-starred with HB in a movie ("The Fatal Encounter," his first return project after military service and his period piece) before they filmed "Hyde, Jekyll, Me" together. HB and HJM are also the same age (just like him and SYJ) but unfortunately the similarities stop there. His BTS with HJM were painfully awkward and you can tell that they were not super comfortable around each other. I mean they were cordial to each other but you can tell that HB was just there to do a job with her rather than them having any chemistry on-or-off the screen. He barely talked or laughed at all in these BTS almost like he was bored/detached. I think he couldn't wait to get this project over with since it was the most disappointing one quality-wise in his entire drama career. Seriously, most fans felt so bad that this project was his first big, highly anticipated drama comeback post military. We were scared that HB would not return back to Drama land for a long time after the disappointing outcome of this drama that had so much potential but didn't execute properly. But fear not, he bounced back big time with Memories of the Alhambra. It's one of those embarrassing jobs on your resume that you wish you could not claim but you have to.

 

 

Wow! Thanks for sharing this cos I literally just came across something on IG earlier today about somewhat the understated chemistry between HB and HJM, which was probably the first I've heard of. The clips they showed did show some friendly BTS (but I didn't really wanna watch it lol but it showed them laughing and holding hands etc and I don't know the extent of whether they were BTS or the scene etc). I took it with a grain of salt though (and also it's not a crime that he was laughing with another woman, you can't expect him to be looking serious all the time haha and plus it was pre-TN ) but just surprised me a little cos I've seen some of what you spoke about that in one of the takes, they almost awkwardly just walked off separate sides after the cut haha. Of course I still felt certain that HB and SYJ are special just by the list of receipts that we have, but reading your comment today just reassured me more! Thank you again for the awesome insight!

When I first joined this forum, I didn’t think there would be so much drama  Thinking that the binding and overarching theme that unites us is BinJin as a couple, which meant cheering them on as both individuals and collective. I think that’s still the reason, it just seems that different people have different ways of expressing their support and sometimes can get taken wrongly. But when things get heated, we just try to get things back on track, it’s not that anyone is trying to stifle your views, just making sure that the appropriate context in this shippers forum to prevent unwanted things eg lockdown of this thread and fans fighting/unnecessary debate, which would sour the overall spirit.
 

Anyway onto the topic, I remember reading wayyyy back into the early days when some shippers talked about Masters in the House epi of SYJ, and I recently just watched it. I can’t be the only one thinking when I watched it esp the parts at her house, “wonder if Hyun Bin has been here”  It looks like an apartment compound and makes me curious of the privacy of the place if BinJin does a lot of sneaking in and out  and then there was a little preview of her bedroom it was I think when she took her luggage out, I suddenly imagined another time Hyun Bin has been in there if he’s been to her house  The epi was aired in Dec 2018, sooooo I dont know it’s possible. Or at least in my imagination 

 

It was also cute to see the guys sooo flustered around her, such a testament to the beauty that she emanates beyond her looks. She definitely shows a bright personality. Also made me think of the difference with HB, many guys can’t even pretend not to be flustered around her (even one of her co stars right when he said he was so taken by her beauty), but with HB, obviously he is charmed by her but he still puts that cool front yet is able to show that he admires her in a very classy way. Maybe SYJ is too used to having guys fawn over her so when someone like HB is able to be so cool, charming yet makes it a little obvious he’s paying attention to her intrigues her and sets HB apart from the rest of men who may be vying for her attention. These guys can barely stand to look at her for a long time and here’s HB who can have a staring contest and make it look like a movie on pause when he’s staring at her lol. 
 

Missing them a lot, I even rewatched their vid at the airport going to Mongolia which LITERALLY HAD NO INTERACTION, yet I could still sense their chemistry there, how is that possible

This has been posted before on HB’s reaction upon SYJ calling him cute but here you can really notice the contrast in this video cause here the interviewer actually says he’s handsome and he was just smiling shyly. But then SYJ called him cute in the same interview and it was a whooolee different kind of shy. Really shows the difference between receiving compliments from people and from someone you really like. Hehe what a cutie!

Haven't posted in a while so just delurking a bit to share some of my thoughts after some good discussions here. I'm thankful that despite the drought, this place is still active, perhaps it's a place for many of us to recharge so it's important as well to maintain positive energy here and also as some have already said, a welcome source of distraction from the chaos that each and everyone is affected by, in this covid19 period.

 

Some thoughts about the drama comparison but I'll hide post considering that it's not the most appropriate thread to detail it.

I agree that the impact of CLOY is more appropriate to discuss at the drama thread, although I must say sometimes comparison is the thief of joy. Personally for me, CLOY is my first proper Korean drama and it's certainly opened the doors for other dramas for me although to me CLOY is the gold standard. Honestly, I would really prefer for CLOY to be the biggest drama and it makes me annoyed a bit the fact that another drama has quickly overtaken it or is about to, but I am reminded that CLOY is unique on its own way and it does not need to be measured against others to prove its worth or value. So I cannot say much if it's bigger than previous dramas that have been stated, but I know that CLOY is very special for a lot of people as it is their first K-drama (I thought I was of the few) and I've also found that so many people can barely move on from it months on, and I think this yearning will not die anytime soon. I also agree that covid19 has somehow contained the post-drama effect that might have heightened its impact even more. I was attracted to CLOY at first because of the NK-SK divide and I agree to those who have mentioned it has somewhat aroused our sensitivity perhaps particularly us international fans as to the human element of the Korean Peninsula that a lot of us may have been oblivious to. Significantly, it's also the three things that HB kept mentioning as to why people should watch CLOY: 1. the combo of the writer and director, 2. their chemistry, 3. the amazing supporting cast. At first, you would think those reasons may be cliche but as we followed the drama until the end, we can really say that HB meant every word. Ok, I'm starting to contradict myself by elaborating too much on this now haha maybe I should check the drama thread if the discussions carries on there.

 

Sigh this drought is too real, I felt it almost immediately after CLOY ended and I practically wake up each day hopeful of something haha. When I read others posts, I feel like we are in the same boat so I guess that's comforting in some form. It's definitely ups and downs, one minute I'm super sure, another minute I'm less certain about them. But I feel like I've already decided that I'm too invested not to have faith in them that even if this doesn't go down as anticipated, it's just something that we'd deal with later on. As for now, it's ON. I recently watched this FMV and it made me feel soooo thanks to the fan who made it! (p.s: btw, how perfect is this song for their wedding, it's so totally romantic)

 

 

When I saw back how they first met in 2014 and think to where they are now, it does feel like some kind of fate and destiny. You can clearly see that back then, they did not know each other and they were just simply being civil as fellow professionals are. Then fast forward to 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, wow, the contrast speaks for themselves. It reminds me that sometimes it's all about timing and that their bond is not superficial to say the least. As an outsider, it feels that they developed genuine attraction over getting to know each other deeply through work that turned into something personal and intimate as they found themselves unintentionally falling in love. This also feels extra special because of how their characters in CLOY also were written, in that they met so many times before but fell in love once they had the opportunity to get to know the other. UGH my HEART. We obviously don't know them but like something just screams that they're meant to be, somehow, someway. And all the denials and everything, to each his own as to how you want to perceive them but I also think that it may be their way of maintaining control over their relationship. Maybe they feel that if they reveal it right now or back then, the narrative could have been taken away by the media or even the fans (even well-intentioned ones) because of the pressure we know that they are always submitted to. So maybe it's their way of doing this on their own terms and we can never truly understand it because we're not in their shoes, no matter how we imagine we can relate, because at the end of the day they know best their situation so at this time I will choose to trust them in this way and just be hopeful that one day, they will be comfortable to share with us their reality together because we wish them nothing but the best and certainly all the happiness in the world.

Omg have you guys seen this? TN promo tour is the gift that keeps on giving! What a heart fluttering testimonial from HB Agh, gosh, these two are the real deal, they must be. HB has referred to SYJ's eye smile on more than one occasion, I'm starting to think that it's one of his favourite features of hers, nyawwww SUCH CUTIES, I can't handle them when they are ready to tell us the truth

 

I find it interesting though, I find that HB seems to be wear his heart on his sleeve more in terms of when being asked about his impression of her, what he thinks of her... while SYJ, when asked of him, she is very good at giving "shallow" answers so as not to give away how personal he really is to her. That said, since CLOY period, HB seemed to be better at it, and appear more cautious in his words (however, still get an "F" on the eyes department as he stares ahem lovingly and longingly at her way too many times for us to miss but hey we aint complaining ).

[[Drama 2019-2020] Crash Landing on you, 사랑의 불시착]

I haven’t been to this forum since a while but I still really miss CLOY  I know I’m not alone, I’ve read from many that people just can’t move on from CLOY! On one hand, feels good that it’s quite a phenomenon. 
 

Wish there was more we could look forward to, now with the DVD news not happening, so bleak. Only positive BinJin news could cure this void lol. 
 

You guys are so right, CLOY set the standards so high I can barely go onto another drama, with the same feeling. I am currently watching Kingdom though, a whole different genre but it’s quality. And honestly, not only CLOY as a drama but it’s the HB and SYJ chemistry that also set the bar really high to other leads. They are just so perfect. 

 

I rewatch CLOY everyday tho lol like random episodes and not lying but they still make make my heart flutter! One of the things I observe that’s pretty sweet is remember how RJH just didn’t know how to “pat sweetly” YSR’s hair lol but once he realised he was in love with her like ep 7 onwards, he could not help play with her hair on so many occasions  subtle character development, if you can call it that. 
 

@ElleSor  I couldn’t agree with you more on HB’s manliness handsomeness! And he just ages so fine. Honestly compared to his past appearances, he definitely looks his best now, he had some pretty cheesy looks in the past though he’s always been beautiful. Lucky SYJ that she got him in his prime hewhewhew (I mean you know acting beside him, not sure what else anyone could be thinking........)

I didnt know that there was an incident in the shoot where Ye Jin disappeared on sight while shooting. Got Hyun Bin scared and panicked. Yejin explained the incident with a little note of subtle reprimand. A liitle bit of competition also as to who take better pictures. Very unguarded moments.

 

I have watched this before, but I couldn't help rewatch it, one of the rare ones that we come across, compared to BTS and the swoon stuff. Apart from what you mentioned, even in the comments people are saying them bickering is even more telling to their closeness and comfort level. These two definitely have banter. But I also noticed on the question whether SYJ prefers dress or formal wear, and she said she prefers to wear casual clothes and he looked down and nodded. It made me think did he nod because he too prefers to wear casual (instead of dress ) oooooorrrrr he knows that she likes casual (because maybe he's seen her plenty in casual ).

 

And briefly at about 6:01 in the video, she touched his hand while they were cutely arguing about which ones were the better photos. Little moments

 

On another note, wouldn't it be funny/amazing if months or a year (hopefully not years) from now, when we actually get to see them together, we'd reminisce over this time and slap ourselves silly for ever even doubting their love. Let's wait and pray desperately!
