  1. Being waiting for this since last year as it was only available in Viki back then. Immediately started watching when I saw it in Netflix. I liked Moon Ga-young's performance in Find Me in Your Memory and I also liked her funny role here. Currently in episode 11 and I'm glad the FL and ML will end up together (I cheated a bit by reading the ending). I have never been a fan of the 2ML, but in fairness he has a bit of chemistry with the FL, unlike in Why Her when the chemistry with the FL was severely lacking.

  2. I'm glad we had a happy ending but having said that the ending was far from perfect. I already read multiple posts about Jin Mu's underwhelming death, the apparent deaths of the 3 elders and not showing how they were saved, the non appearance of assassin Naksu, Naksu living as Jin Bu-yeon, the relatively easy defeat of the fire bird, etc. so I need not discuss them in detail.

The 1 year timelapse was well and good but I would have preferred if they showed Jang Uk and Naksu reuniting after the dissapearance of the fire bird. Jang Uk was devastated after we thought that Naksu's soul was gone forever. Their reunion would have been a very happy occasion and would be the perfect scene to showcase their acting.

IMO the best scene in the episode was the heartbreaking exchange between Maidservant Kim and Park Jin in Jinyowon followed by Naksu's version of I love you, goodbye then the wedding scene of course.

Personally I would rank this 2nd among the Hong sister's dramas that I've watched. Number one by a mile is Hotel del Luna. Hotel del Luna is the only drama that has almost brought me to tears multiple times (remember the 3 parting scenes with the loyal supporters, the death scene of the soldier's sister and Man-wol's parting scene). Many people believe the ending was bittersweet, but I'm not one of them.

To all the people I've interacted with in this forum hope to see you again in another drama.

    Au revoir!!!

  3. I'm at work so can't watch the whole episode 10 till tonight. But I watched the first 15 minutes while on the train. My earlier comment was already wrong because the wedding took place before the fighting even began. Admitedly we were indulged with sweet moments between the couple, but I have a bad feeling about the ending. The wedding is akin to the peak of a roller coaster ride then comes the inevitable plunge. I hope we have a 2nd peak.

I will practice extreme control by not reading any post in the forum for the next 8 to 9 hours as I don't want to spoil myself by finding the ending before watching the totality of the episode.

  4. Episode 9 was really something and it ranks up there among drama episodes that I've said WTH and WTF a number of times under my breath.

When Naksu trapped Jin Mu with the reverse ice stone I was very doubtful on a seemingly easy death for him, and when the queen and the uncle (who are both ignoramus and greedy) entered Gwido I was thinking something bad is going to happen, and now enter Jin Mu in a new body. I really liked his slicked down hair.

I don't usually repeat words but I'm going to be calling this so called council of mages as the Ignoramus Assembly. Another example of greed here as they already know Jin Mu is bad but still they were convinced by his promise of power. I cringed when they joined the king after JIn Mu in the uncle's body revealed himself. I was thinking is this the evil version of the Super Friends. The smallest and noisiest member may just be the 2nd most irritating face next to Jin Mu.

And really the Crown Prince deciding to support Jang Uk because Jim Mu made his turtle dissapear? I'm sorry but I found this very ridiculous.

I wasn't expecting the death of the three elders and I would assume they will show how they met their ends in episode 10.

Looks like Bu-yeon is totally out of the picture as it was likely Jin Seol Ran inside the body. I saw a video showing Master Lee marrying Jang Uk and Naksu in a field of flowers, so I assume they will win the battle. This is also assuming that this scene occurred before Jang Uk saw the three coffins.

I'm still hoping for a happy ending, but even if the Hong sisters don't indulge us I really like to see Jang Uk and Naksu fighting side by side. I predict the body count to be higher in the final episode later.

I thought Master's Sun had a good ending! That was my first Hong Sisters drama, so I am still stuck in that hopeful mode, lol. My Girlfriend is a Gumiho was good as well.

I didn't watch Korean Odyssey. I hear it may be...different. Hotel del Luna was good and you can't say they didn't warn you. Still, I felt it had a bit of an open ending that was sorta hopeful.

Korean Odyssey was nice albeit the female lead died. But the ending implied the male lead will be getting her soul from hell. The female lead was also resurected briefly by the gods because they needed something from the male lead who is also a god.

Maybe the skeleton we saw at the end of episode 8 with the Ice Stone belongs to Naksu who died.  Naksu then can be resurrected and there will be a happy ending when she and Jang Wook will be a pair of powerful vigilantes both having Ice Stones in their bodies.

Before entering the magical prison someone mentioned that a member of the Choi family died there.

Unless I'm mistaken Naksu's family name is Choi, so maybe that skeleton has a part to play.

  6. Good thing episode 8 didn’t disappoint.  The episode started where they finished the previous one, with the passionate kiss. I thought something was going to happen between the two but they just teased the viewers.

Finally things are moving forward with Naksu recovering her memories and the mysterious Bu-yeon making an appearance. Jin Mu is also proceeding with his plan of drying the lake to make another ice stone.

I was really annoyed with Lady Heo in episode 7 but her actions here turned out to be the final act that enabled Naksu to regain her memories. Yes, it made her and Uk sad but what is kdrama without moments like this.

I’m curious about that mystical prison. Is that an actual place or an inter-dimensional magic place? Because Jang Uk was able to go there to save Naksu from the wraith.

The next question is who was the skeleton inside that place with what looks like an ice stone? Someone posted here that maybe Naksu’s soul can go there. Can the ice stone actually reform a body?

Lastly what is Bu-yeon’s plan? Is it to do the rain dance to stop the drought?

Only 2 more episodes left so I’m sure we’ll be subjected to a roller coaster of emotions. I can’t wait to see how Jang Uk and Naksu will react after Naksu’s total recall and Jang Uk’s realization.

  7. Now that was defintely an explosive episode and perfectly timed for New Year. I haven't seen the official rating, but I reckon it will be a new high for the series.

I will always remember episode 7 for the kiss. Jang Uk and Naksu finally did a proper kiss, and it was quite passionate. IMO much better than the kiss in Part 1. Kudos to the director for the way it was done. The tension built up because they kept on bickering and I liked the way Naksu sort of challeged Uk just before the kiss.

I thought the Crown Prince took a turn for the better, but once again Jin Mu has him in the palm of his hand. Although my most hated character for this episode wasn't Jin Mu or the Crown Prince but Lady Heo. She's still annoying and kept on pesteing Naksu. Her reading Yul's letter doesn't bode well for Naksu. Master Lee already told Yul to keep quiet about Bu-yeon's real identity but Lady Heo will likely gossip.

So now we know that Bu-yeon's soul is co-existing with Naksu's soul inside her body and it's troubling to hear that even Master Lee has no control over her. I'm sincerely hoping there is going to be a twist in the end. I don't want Naksu's soul to just dissapear considering she's fallen in love with Naksu for the 2nd time.

The biggest question now is what is Bu-yeon's objective. Could it be related to the drought that the kingdom is currently experiencing? Only 3 episodes left so the next episodes are surely going to be exciting.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending between Uk and Naksu. But honestly with the recent reveal that Bu-yeon's soul in still alive, I'm thinking of 3 scenarios: both Uk and Naksu die in the end or either one of them dies to save the other one.

Come on Hong sisters make us happy.

  8. Currently spending a much needed R & R with my family, so I was too busy and tired to watch episode 6 till today.

I saw it had a high rating once again but whilst this episode was a lot better than the previous one, I expected a lot more but it dragged along and kept jumping around with too many side scenes like the Queen up to no good with Jin Cho-yeon and Lady Heo being annoying and still not giving up on Jang Uk. Sadly the trailer shows she will even be more annoying. Seriously enough with the Crown Prince and his turtle. I can't believe he doesn't know he's been talking to Bu-Yeon and even flirting at that. I so want Uk to give him a dressing down as he is too arrogant for his own good.

I just realised the actor playing Yul is credited as a main character. Correct me if I'm wrong but that wasn't the case in Part 1. No wonder he has a lot of screen time especially in this episode. I guess I'll keep my opinion about many scenes between him and Naksu in my head or risk the ire of many people here.

Aside from the nice fight scene towards the end and still the constant bickering and confusion between Uk and Naksu, the scene that I can't forgot was when Master Lee said the return of Bu-yeon's divine power will make her regain her memories and not the other way around. Troubling to hear that this would cause Naksu's soul to be rejected by Bu-yeon's body. A bit tipsy while typing this so my mind isn't in an analytical mode to make further comment about this. Will try when I can tomorrow.

  9. Episode 5 wasn't the Christmas gift I was hoping for. IMO it was a filler episode that is either confirms what we know already or what is bound to happen or setting up events for the next episodes.

Finally Yul knows what is inside him after he corners So-yi. We all know So-yi isn't good but there might still be hope for her as shown by her selfless action of cutiing open her forearm so Yul can transfer back the blood parasite.

It's been obvious from episode 1 that Jin Cho-yeon still has feelings for Park Dang-gu so its good to see that they've reunited albeit in a secretive manner.

Nice to see that Park Jin and Maidservant Kim got engaged after the longest of time.

The bickering between Jang Uk and Naksu continues, and so the kiss ending episode 4 wasn't really that sweet after all. Jang Uk still continues to deny his growing feeling for Naksu but Naksu is starting to question if the memories she is increasingly having flashbacks of are really not her's.

The writers have a very good habit of ending the episodes with scenes that builds up your anticipation. In this instance Naksu said something that Jang Uk attirbutes to Mu-deok then he clasped her hands.

Looks like Jin Mu is going to be making his move. After the failure of his plan to kill Naksu/Bu-yeon with the help of the Queen, he is now going to use Yul's uncle. I'm still wondering if the bells will make an apperance.

The Crown Prince is still inutile at this halfway point of the drama and is still a pawn of Jin Mu.

And yet a couple of fan service scenes between Yul and Naksu. Enough with this already.

I hope they rebound with a significantly better episode 6.

  10. I tried watching this a few years ago, but didn't like it so only reach episode 7.

But I had nothing to do about two weeks ago and decided to give it another try. The story got a lot better after the 70,000 time lapse and now I'm hooked.

Dilreba still looks the same and is quite cute playing her character. But I like Yang Mi's appearance here the best and IMHO she looks better here than how she currently looks as she's too thin now.

  11. I loved the bickering between Jang Uk and Naksu. They keep on saying hurtful things to each other but inside they mean the opposite.

Yes, Naksu was dissapointed that Uk came because he thought it was Mu-deok as Naksu calling him via the blue jade, but inside her heart still jumped when Jang Uk arrived.

Jang Uk said the more hurtful words but he was still concerned when Naksu hurt her hand. His hurtful words are likely due to confusion on what is actually happening. He obviously didn't leave the area and instead waited for Naksu to finish rebuilding the stone tower. The fireflies are further proof that he doesn't want anything bad to happen to Naksu.

The icing on the cake was when he coordinated with Park Jin who is turn asked the help of Jinyowon to create a simulacrum of Naksu so the real Naksu stays safe.

Jin Mu is really something else. He knows that unlike before he can no longer overpower Jang Uk so he uses his words to make other people do what he wants. I'm not surprised that he was able to influence the Queen because the Queen wants to regain her former beauty. I don't quite remember but what happened to Shaman Choi?

I believe Jin Mu's evil plan was the last thing that Jang Uk needed to finally achieve closure with Mu-deok/Naksu. The physical act of killing the soul shifter who many people thought was Naksu was exactly what Jang Uk needed to do to forget about the past and start looking into the present. I hope the kiss in the bed was because he genuinely is starting to have feelings for the present Naksu. Naksu did comfort him earlier. But knowing the Hong sisters they might end up bickering again.

So far Naksu has touched her sword and the blue jade and has been to the restaurant where she first met Uk. These objects and place helped in recovering part of her memory and divine power. I'm thinking the bird whistle and the bell (which hasn't made an appearance yet) will come into play in the next episodes. Maybe falling into the lake where she died could be the final act to totally recovering her memory and divine power.

What comes next is the big question. Will she just be Naksu or will Bu-Yeon also make an appearance? Personally with 6 episodes left I don't want a more complicated storyline by introducing Bu-Yeon into the equation.

The writers seem to be doing fan service by adding those "sweet" scenes between Yul and Naksu. And seriously what is this Crown Prince and turtle arc. Just a waste of screen time IMO.

  12. It’s been a very busy day for me today thus the late post, and ep 4 is probably either ongoing or will be starting shortly as I’m typing these comments. (10:53 PM Sydney time).

So far ep 3 is my least liked episode because it was very tame compared to the first 2. The episode was quite Naksu-centric and its very nice to see her starting to regain parts of her divine powers and memory.

Had a few laughs when Naksu lied about having a baby during the mage’s assembly but was disappointed with their overly teased first kiss. The kiss wasn’t passionate at all and Naksu only did it to spite Jang Uk. Whilst Uk is openly showing that he has no romantic feelings (at this point) for Naksu, he doesn’t want to see her getting hurt, thus destroying the Jinyowon thread artifact that was hurting her. Naksu on the other hand really has feelings for Uk despite the harsh comment after their “kiss”. She was obviously waiting for Uk to enter her room and comfort her.

This episode really showcased Naksu’s ability to detect energy. She escaped being caught by Jin Mu because she detected the energy from the blue jade and was able to detect the two hidden people. This was also the likely reason how she was drawn to Naksu’s stone pillar grave.
I’m fairly sure the blue color in her eye was just a reflection of the blue jade, as opposed to being the mark of a soul shifter.

I anxious for ep 4 because we don’t know how Naksu and Uk will react. Will Uk be angry that Naksu as Bu-yeon activated the blue jade or will it be Naksu who will be disappointed because she knows Uk came expecting to see Naksu the soul shifter.

Call me a romantic, but I hope their reactions will be positive.

    P.S.

I liked two lines in the episode.

Jang Uk saying I can only believe she is really dead if I can see it with my own eyes and Naksu saying a pain that does not kill me will eventually set me free.
Naksu’s line is quite similar to something Mu-deok said in part 1. A bit lazy to find the exact line, but it goes something like whatever doesn’t kill Uk will make him stronger.

I dunno...after Master Lee straight-up said that Mama Jin had to choose between Buyeon and Naksu's souls, and that the other would have to die...I still feel that Buyeon is 100% dead. Only her body (with its inherent sorcery powers) remains (and it doesn't even look like her anymore). But if this changes, I will admit to you all that I was wrong. :D

However, I will agree that Jin Mu believes he still has a hold over Naksu, and that those bells are likely to make a reappearance. And that he will try to use Naksu to get the ice stone out of Uk (who will want Naksu to take it out, not knowing that she is Naksu. Please find out before it's too late! Please, Hong Sisters, do NOT kill off your main characters this time!) Jin Mu is the villain of the drama, so he will not be going away anytime soon, and likely has some things up his sleeve that our heroes do not anticipate.

@UnniSarahYes, the powers are inherited, that is the reason Mama Jin chose to keep Buyeon's body with Naksu's soul, even though she hates Naksu. Because she basically wants to breed an heir from that body. (I hate this mother so, so much!)

I'm secretly hoping that those bells don't work on Naksu this time, just to see the look on Jin Mu's face.

But I believe those bells will play a major role in returning Naksu's memories so what I hope to see on the next episode is for the bells to open the floodgates of Naksu's memories but Jin Mu will have no control.

I've posted in many forums in the past about my aversion for 3rd wheels, so I'm wondering why Naksu was walking with Yul then saw the Crown Prince in the trailer. We all know Yul liked a young Naksu and it wouldn't be a stretch of the imagination for the Crown Prince to be attracted to the present Naksu because in some ways she acts like Mu-Deok.

  14. It's a regular workday for me so I watched the episode in bits and pieces (i.e. on the train going to work, during break, during numerous toilet breaks (lol), and again on the train going home). I will watch it again before sleeping.

Whilst episode 1 had more action, things are starting to get more serious in episode 2. We finally know what happened to Mu-deok's body and although I was correct in guessing Jin Ho-kyung was involved, it wasn't in the way I was thinking. She didn't use her power as it was Master Lee who did. But the decision of who's soul to save was her's.

So we now know the body belongs to Mu-deok/Bu-Yeon but has the appearance of Naksu because the soul inside is Naksu. When I first watched the conversation between Jin Ho-kyung and Master Lee I said to myself "oh a lot of people cheering for Mu-deok are not going to be happy because she is not coming back as her soul is gone". I'm not one of those people, but Master Lee's statement of Bu-Yeon's body has no divine powers, and Naksu's soul has no memory, so the body and soul do not conflict. If she regains her divine powers, Naksu's memory will likely follow" is open to interpretation.

It could mean either mean Bu-Yeon can still come back if the body regains divine powers or Naksu's memory will return if the body regains divine powers.

I'm leaning towards the later because I really believe Bu-Yeon's soul is gone forever. In episode 1 when Jang Uk hit the table with Naksu's sword the blue energy stayed a bit in Naksu's hand. The sword likely recognised its master.

Naksu told Uk she has no divine powers, but twice already she has shown traces of it. My theory is these are related to sadness and/or fear of leaving the person she likes or the person she likes leaving her. (i.e. Naksu crying because Uk told her to leave and Naksu touching Uk's hand in the assembly).

Naksu in Mu-deok's body technically left Uk in Part 1 after stabbing him. Naksu may have no memory so far in Part 2 but she is somehow drawn to Uk. There is no reason for Bu-Yeon to be drawn to him because they don't really know each other.

My main question for this episode is why Bu-Yeon chose Naksu and trapped her soul inside her body.

I expect more scheming from Jin Mu in episode 3 now that he's seen Naksu. Interesting when he said I shall summon Naksu's soul once again to distract Jang Uk. I hope this doesn't mean he can control Naksu again. In the trailer the red jade was glowing and looks like Jang Uk is running towards Mu-deok's burial place and the girl in there looks like Naksu. But knowing how they jumble scenes together we are not sure if the scenes are related.

  15. Just finished episode 1 of Part 2 a few minutes ago and I will post my commentary before reading all the previous comments. I had 3 questions and concerns about Part 2 and strangely enough one was answered fully, one partly and the last one inconclusive at this point.

My question of who sees Naksu first was answered fully. Jang Uk saw her after discovering the hidden area behind the barrier in Jinyowon. But obviously he isn't aware she is Naksu at this point. The trailer seem to show Yul seeing Naksu in the pier but it didn't actually happen. Naksu did meet Yul's uncle, which we later learned was betrothed to her by her mother.

My question of who saved Mu-deok was answered partly. She was saved or you could even say captured by Jinyowon. I rewatched the last episode of Part 1 and realised the two ladies who held her under the water looked similar to the lady guards/priestesses of Jinyowon. Now my biggest questions for episode one are below.

    1. What happened to Mu-deok's partly petrified body?

    2. Where did Naksu's body came from?

    3. I'm sure Jin Ho-kyung is involved here, so what magic did she do to answer my two questions above? She also gave Naksu amnesia to cover up what she did. A possibly related question is, is Jin Mu involved? He is Jin family after all.

    4. Why can Naksu see the ice stone inside Jang Uk? Did Bu-yeon/Mu-deok somehow fused or took control of Naksu? Call me hardheaded but I've convinced myself that Naksu is Naksu lol

My inconclusively answered question was is Yul going to try to win Naksu back. Yes, Naksu was forcefully betrothed to his uncle, but the trailer for the next episode show him finally seeing Naksu.

I guess I could add a fourth question with I didn't post before. Jin Cho-yeon obviously still has feelings for Park Dang-gu (i.e. her sad face and clenched fist after turning her back) while Park Dang-gu no doubt is still in love. He started small talks with Jin Cho-yeon and was crying his heart out because he thought she was going to be married.

IMHO this episode is one of the best episodes in the series. The first 15 minutes were especially interesting. The usually jolly Jin Cho-yeon using magic to destroy the jars of wine and surprise surprise Naksu making an early appearance and inside Jonyowon at that. I immediately realised she was captured when they showed this scene. One of my favorite scenes in the episode was when Jang Uk was drinking wine in front of what I assume was Mu-deok's (fake) burial site and after putting the wine container down, it transitioned to Naksu picking up a similar looking wine container and drinking from it in the hidden area. By design or coincidence, both containers came from the wine makers.

We all know Naksu was inside Mu-deok's body so naturally the way Naksu speak is similar to Mu-deok's and she even smirked in the restaurant before confidently asking Jang Uk to marry her.

My other favorite scene was the power of the ice stone teleporting Naksu's boat to a different location. Very good cinematography there when the boat was slowly approaching the dock where Jang Uk was standing. Perfect ending to the episode too. Naksu jumping into Jang Uk's arms after calling him my dear husband. Okay I know Jang Uk isn't doing it for love at this time but we'll get there. Uk's action will likely further increase the bad blood between Songrim and Jinyowon.

Excitedly looking forward for the next episode.

    Apologies for the long post.

  16. Yang Mi has always been my wife's favorite so naturally she was watching this drama. It looks good so I finally convinced myself to watch my first Yang Mi drama. I guess I wasn't disappointed and forgive me for not noticing before but Yang Mi is a stunner. My mouth might have been open when I watched her in the red dress lol. Her chemistry with the ML is also good.

Up to episode 7 and the parts I really don't like are the over acting scenes of Qin Shi's brother and sister in law. I also fast forwarded a few seconds when it was showing Qin Shi's ex BF. I don't like third wheels especially when the third wheel is a bit "plain" compared to the ML.

The actresses playing Li Dai and Wu Fei are quite pretty too.
