    Omo...the watermelon couple...YS and MR..

They made me laugh a little.

I also have a confession to make, MR is turning out to be my favorite character. She would be totally irritating in real life, mooching off her friends, not paying back money, stealing their melons and invading their houses, and I would hate her as a female lead, but she's a fun side character. Like karma is trying to pull her down by getting her into bad situations but she just takes them all in stride. Couldn't get perfect Chan Seung back, no problem, she just moves on to the next guy who'll put up with her. I don't think it is even from her princess life, she did not act entitled during that liferime. If she were dead, MaGo #4 would be frustrated with her.

Hmmm, thinking about it, she is usual hong sisters second female lead (selfish, self-centered, user - the same character trope that made my blood boil in the previous dramas). Why do I like her here?

  2. the yoona-hyun joong story is also pretty packed. earlier in the episode, I was thinking they are mirroring MW-CS in that one has to go and the other will be left behind, and then, it turns out that yoona's situation is like the man that stole hyun joong's identity (then maybe it circles back to mirroring MW-CS in that yoona saves hyun joong's anger towards the identity thief, because yoona is in the same predicament). is that genius writing or what?

Was giving Yeon Woo his memories back necessary?? Its a burden from past life he didn't need at all.

Haven't seen the episode for myself but it seems that MaGo is bending over backwards to save MW's soul. such special treatment, or maybe that is her salary for 1300 years of taking care of the hotel

Haha, he gets the blame is this forum, not in my country. In many vietnamese fanpages of this drama,  everyone feels sad and regretful for him. All of us hope he can have a happy ending.

I don't understand why everyone easily sympathizes all the things MW did. Sometimes, she acts wrongly, such as killed a lot of guards in the castle, even burned it, harmed Mira and intended to revenge CM one more time. All those actions are silly and unreasonable. All relating people paid their debt for her. It completely ended in the past. And now, they are all innocent. she doesn't have any permission to punish them again.

Image if everyone acts like her, finds ways to revenge unstoppably, it must have been many ghosts wandering around us.  LoL

That's the reason why she must stay until she gives up her enmity completely.

Meanwhile, we concentrate on blaming what cm did wrongly in the past, although he paid all his debt by his own life. We are afraid  that he will ruin love between CS and Mw. We are afraid that he will take over chan sung's body and stay in forever :))) it's unfair for him.

He died, right? Let him leave in peace and relief. In previous episodes, i used to hope that he will leave with mw. But after ep 13, i prefer him to go to the afterlife alone, no hurt, no regret, and live happily in the new life, never meet mw again. The pain he endured is so enough...

CM is really popular. I think that is why some of us fiercely express our love for CS here is because he does not get so much love in other social media. I hope nobody gets offended. This just means we wont be fighting over the same boys in real life :) and feel free to continue expressing your CM love.

I agree with you about MW, she is not innocent. But the same way you feel about her not getting any blame is the same way I wonder why CM is getting so much sympathy, haha. It really is all just a difference in perspective.

On another note, I keep replaying that part in the scene where Man Wol threatened to take all of his clothes, when his voice goes all soft and he drops it even lower: "I don't think [you can handle it]." Kyaaaa!!1!!1 I don't want to perv on him but why must he do these things! (I feel ya, Man Wool!) :w00t:

CM stole her baby CS' precious body, what will go down then? hehe

When I watched the ep live, I thought of CM immediately when the "first guest" was mentioned - the rich Mago only mentioned "첫 손님" and didn't specify whether was his first guest or the hotel's first guest (realised subsequently the subs chose to put "your first guest" but in Korean it wasn't clear/up for us to interpret). Also in the next scene, Sunbi was asking the Grim Reaper about a guest where the hotel staff are not aware off so I was thinking CM should be the first guest... he was with MW when the guesthouse first appeared.

Hmmm. I did not connect those scenes at all. Now it makes sense. Thanks!

In the Korean, was MaGo 5's goodbye to MW also stressed? Because it seemed to me she emphasize it, while she told CS that she will be seeing a lot of him.

  7. here is a quote from: http://bitchesoverdramas.com/2019/08/20/hotel-del-luna-ep-12-schrodingers-firefly/

"The Captain was trying hard NOT to give in to his traitorous feelings FOR Manwol. He wanted Manwol to live BUT he also didn’t want to live as a traitor to his nation. So he compromised. He took a gamble.

For me, Manwol interpreted that sight of his bleeding hand as proof that he wasn’t going to throw her a “lifeline.” He’d rather bleed silently,  stoically, than give in to his urge to rescue her. He was unlike Chansung who was always running to her side and throwing caution to the wind."

It seems to me that Captain's ambition/reputation is more important to him than MW, more important than his life. I have nothing against him about that (I care about my image too and I have dreams too). But that just doesn't make him appear romantic to me.

Also, Chan Seong's level headedness is perfect for MW's situation. He doesn't let go of her, he chooses to stay by her side and just face the consequences of her going (even if he will be left hurting alone). He wants to make best use of their time together. He could "protect" MW too by moving away, but he will just leave her (and him) brokenhearted, so he doesn't do such nonsense. Also, CS always tells MW to trust him, so maybe, he is trying to find ways out of her predicament too. Maybe he is roaming the Sanzu Bridge now, looking for a solution :)

Chooses to remain as a firefly while robbing MW a chance of resolution. I would have sympathised with him more if mago kept him that way in order to protect MW from going full evil. But he chooses this himself and in past 1000+ never realised that him not letting go is hurting MW because since he cant reincarnate MW cant find peace.

Woah, thanks for the good point. I was wondering why I was very uncomfortable with him being a firefly, and you hit bulls eye on my subconscious haha. Of course, he can have his own illogical grudges, but it does not score points with me

  9. where is CS's soul now though?

we had the goddess of wealth this episode, could she be the same as good luck? I was kinda hoping that a MaGo of mercy or good luck turns up at the end and saves the day

the MaGo of memory might play some role to solve the 49 day crossing the sanzu problem. MW says it is not that souls are disallowed to return from the afterlife, it is just that they have lost their memories. So if she remembers, she goes back and we get our happy ending :)

found this cool theory on twitter, I think writing is really strong when it people can speculate widely on where the story is going to go. really cool

They know it as well as everyone around them.

They just don't need to articulate it to confirm they just know and feel)

they just dont have much skinship (they do hold hands and hug though) but they do tell each other very well how they feel. I'm probably really old, but I feel really giddy watching all those confessions . this is a couple who really communicate with each other instead of just kissing their hearts out and then having misunderstandings hehe

  11. Just watching the subs now and So Hee is making me cry

    Spoiler

goodness, this is so good. the statement on Mira/Yeon Woo being the persons MW hates and loves transforming to literally CS in the end. this is like the hong sisters from being metaphorical with words in most of their previous dramas to being metaphorical in situations here in HDL. I so love this

Why dont they explain basic logistics to chan seung though, so he wont be making mistakes like walking into trap tunnels

and yeah, whenever chung myung comes onscreen, i check on social media tags of HDL, no wasted time then haha

CM then has fully paid back his debt to MW.  In their past life together all CM could do was save MW's life at the cost of killing her entire family off.  In this current lifetime to correct his wrong he does his best to save the only person who matters the most to MW and that is CS.  Keeping CS alive will bring about closure and resolution to MW and CM's story.

Yup, he might try to intervene and screw things up again, hehe. I am not sure how it will go down, but it is not paying back if the person you are indebted to does not appreciate your action, it is only serving your own ego/grudges.

Also excited about baby jin goo's acting <3

Anyway, if YJG and IU end up together, they will have lots of date pics to show their grandkids. That thought makes me happy.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! I actually understand why you'd rather imagine a story behind that, as well as the dislike towards CM because of what he did or just because of the actor himself. :D I also get those who like CM.

For me, it is nothing personal against CM. I just dont like second leads in general because they take up too much time when you know they wont get the girl anyway. But I have to admit, CM is actually a really good second lead in that he was actually instrumental in starting this story and now, he is turning out to be important in how to end it :)

HAHAHAHA A reason for CS to run to the tunnel, I suppose? So he can meet CM?

To help the writers with plot coherence, let us all just imagine that death MaGo smuggled him in hehe

So in the version I am spinning in my head to make myself happy, MW was not really in love with CM, but was using him to get inside info on the authorities, so CM is actually the vengeful one hanging around to get back at MW :)

Ewwwww, get away from Chansung, you CGI firefly! Sigh. Too much airtime for characters I don't care about. At least Smirkalot was bound to happen.

haha. I feel the same way (no offense to the others. we love all of you, it is great to know we have different taste in men so that we dont all fight over the same one :) )

  16. Your fanfics are hilarious guys!

I was rewatching again, and there might actually be hope for MW and CS, though, depending on execution, could be perceived as deus ex machina. I do not have an idea, but it seems that the drama had been laying precedents on how powerful a human's wish could be.

The old woman with a diary was able to conjure up a spirit out of her loneliness, the doctor said he heard about the lifeline surgery abroad but CS said that it is their desperation to save their child that was heard (by heaven?), and the strong hatred of the living on the comments board was able to create a curse strong enough to protect the ghost of the serial killer. So maybe, in the end, CS' love could bring MW back?

*since this drama was supposedly being hatched alongside my girlfriend is a gumiho (there really does appear to be connections, with the Full Moon character and the fairy tale theme), it reminded me of that drama's ending, where Mi Ho appears back by the grace of the goddess. HDL could go the same way, but I hope they fleshed it out better
