  5. @Go Seung Ji thank you for the updates you share here. ^-^ May we know if this movie would also be released internationally? I believe many people outside Korea could relate to this movie, especially from here in the Philippines. Thanks again.
  6. Thank you for the correction! Now that makes it more daebak!
  7. Random thoughts: • The Joon Ha "inside Kim Hye Ja's head" is a symbol of Lee Min Su, her grandson. He is very close to her grandmother but quite emotionally distant from his father. (As observed by @kyutrogue) • Am I correct to say that the second song Yoon Sang Eun sang for Yeong Soo's channel was the same song that the older Yoon Bok Hee sang during her visit to Kim Hye Ja at the hospital?
  8. As a big fan of his, I'm flattered by those kind remarks about Son Ho Jun. ^^ Thank you. <3 I also have the same thoughts about Haitai in Reply 1994. Looks-wise Baro comes in second for me, then Yoo Yeon Seok. ^^' My personal opinion, of course. I'm looking forward to seeing him deliver some heavy drama in his upcoming movie with Kim Hae Sook and Nam Bo Ra. It's a totally different role from Yeong Soo. === It's amazing how unnoticeable the 9-year age gap between Nam Joo-hyuk and Han Ji-min is. I love the scene where the young-looking Kim Hye Ja finally reunites with her Joon Ha. It's the culmination of their love story. I won't describe it as "romantic" in the usual sense because it's way deeper; among their scenes together, it's my second most favorite, next to this:
  9. Son Ho Jun's breakout role in Korea was Haitai in Reply 1994. He did quite many ads after that (just type <손호준 CF> over at YouTube and they will show up ^^). Internationally though, he became more known because of Go Back Couple where he is lead actor along with Jang Na Ra and Terius Behind Me as Jin Yong Tae, a second lead role. However, I'm not sure if these dramas reached as many international viewers as The Light In Your Eyes, so I also hope that through his roles as two versions of Kim Yeong Soo (plus Lee Min Su), many more would take notice of him and regard him as a great actor (because I tell you, he really is - says the fan girl in me ^^'). His good looks come as bonus. You can find out more about him in his own thread here: https://forums.soompi.com/en/topic/338995-son-ho-jun-손호준-completed-drama-the-light-in-your-eyes-upcoming-movie-a-diamond-in-the-rough/?do=findComment&comment=21443108 == Going back to the main topic: == I felt touched listening to Kim Hye Ja's final monologue at the end part of the finale, but I began to cry at the words "so, to you who are struggling right now..." Too much regret over the past and too much worry about the future makes me miss out on the now and I'd fail to see it as a gift; to regard the present moment as truly a "present". It also moves me to see my parents in a broader perspective, particularly by the snow-sweeping scene of Hye Ja and Dae Sang. I may sometimes feel that they have not done enough to make me feel the warmth of their love while growing up but love isn't measured by temperature (this sounds like a funny analogy, but I hope you get the point ^^'). It's more shown through the daily ordinary, sometimes unnoticed, things they do. Then I ask, what little sacrifices have I done for them over the years? How do I make them feel loved? This might sound a bit dramatic now but it's a question I should never ignore. They're not getting any younger, and who knows when death will come knocking at their door (or mine)? ... ... ... What an impact this drama has on me.
  10. Just recently visited Son Ho Jun's page on AsianWiki and saw this comment: Someone find this person for me!!! Haha!
  11. This is another nice thing about this drama. It led me to do a little research on the history of Korea just so I could understand the setting better. After doing so, I realized that this just might also hit close to home (country, to be more accurate ^^') because Martial Law also prevailed here in the Philippines back in the 1970's. I'm sure a lot of those who lived during those times would be able to relate to Kim Hye Ja's plight (I was born in 1985). This show being a tribute to those who have made marks in the Korean Entertainment Industry, especially the Nation's Mother, Ms. Kim Hye Ja, makes it a more meaningful drama. Her presence gave those whom she worked with (whether actors, writers or production staff) an opportunity to also give their better best. Through this drama, they might actually make their own mark in the industry. @nrllee, well said! Thanks also for sharing your insightful thoughts. I'd love to talk more about these connections between the real "herstory" and the tangled memories. ^^ @chickfactor, thanks for those chunks of trivia! I hope the "golden" actors in this drama may live a long life so they could pass on to the young people in this generation the lessons and wisdom they have gained through the years. @unknown12, thanks for the Dramabeans link! ^^ = = = = = = = = EDIT: @chickfactor Awww... So touching. To be honest, I felt a little awkward joining you guys here at first, being a newbie, but you all made me feel comfortable and affirmed. To all who are thinking of re-watching this wonderful drama, please don't hesitate to share of your future insights. ^^
  12. "The Light In Your Eyes" is a drama like no other. It is something we can go back to when we feel that life seems pointless (recall Kim Hye Ja's words to Joon Ha during Lady Chanel's funeral; Hye Ja's thoughts about death). Comments about this being "the drama of your life" is something I would wholeheartedly agree on. Hands down to everyone in front and behind the camera who made this drama possible. @nrllee, I think Chanel is a symbol pf Hye Ja having a distant relationship with her son (Lee Dae Sang). During that episode of her Alzheimer's, through Lady Chanel, she was able to speak as a mother to a person whom she considered a son (Joon Ha); recall Lady Chanel's conversation with Joon Ha during the taxi ride. "A mother always worries about her son" (not verbatim). @Boba you have a point with what you said, I see. Parents of this generation know and do it differently. But knowing the time period when Hye Ja lived (Martial Law in Korea) plus having to live two roles for her son (as both mother and father), it was the best way she knew for her son to be able to survive life in their times. She may not always showed her love and care for her son, yet she always loved and cared for him, even when he is unaware. It was a wonderful moment of realization for Dae Sang during the snow-sweeping scene. And @nrllee is right, because of that, he was able to open his heart - to let love in and out of it, so that he could receive the love others give him and at the same time, give the love that he has for the people dear to him. (How touching a moment it would be to see him and Min Su [Hye Ja's grandson] have a heart-to-heart talk over chicken and beer! ^^)

  14. Dazzling playlist to accompany us after the drama ends. Haha. Or we can just re-watch. About last night's episode, I have a part of me that thinks it was better in Kim Hye Ja's head, but then nothing beats the memories we actually share with the ones we hold dear. Looking forward to its ending. ^^
