Gong Yoo ♥ Seo Hyun Jin, 'Secret Marriage' Full Story Revealed... "Strange Charm" ('Trunk') 2024.11.29 Kim Ji-won View original imagePhoto courtesy of Netflix Netflix series 'Trunk' has revealed must-watch points ahead of its release today (29th). ◆ The meeting of melodrama masters Seo Hyun-jin X Gong Yoo Netflix series 'Trunk', which will be released today (29th), is a mystery melodrama that depicts a secret marriage service that comes to light due to a trunk floating on the lakeside and the strange marriage story of a man and a woman inside it. The meeting of Seo Hyun-jin, a master of melodrama, and Gong Yoo has garnered much attention, and expectations are rising as the new combination of actors Jung Yoon-ha, Jo I-gun, and Kim Dong-won is completed. As Director Kim Gyu-tae said at a previous production conference, "I was curious about the synergy between Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo, so I readily participated," the melodrama synergy of the two actors with different emotional depths is the best point to watch. Seo Hyun-jin has foreshadowed a transformation in her acting as Noh In-ji, a woman who becomes alone because of marriage, and Gong Yoo plays Han Jeong-won, a man who becomes terribly lonely after getting married. In addition, the presence of Jung Yoon-ha, Jo I-gun, and Kim Dong-won, who will add tension to the drama by going back and forth between melodrama and mystery, cannot be left out. Jung Yoon-ha plays Lee Seo-yeon, a woman who reveals her twisted desires due to marriage, Jo I-gun plays Yoon Ji-oh, a man who finds true love after getting married, and Kim Dong-won plays Eom Tae-sung, a suspicious man who suddenly starts to hover around them one day. The passionate performances of these characters, who portray the intertwined characters and relationships of the real and the fake, desire and longing, are anticipated. View original image ◆ Secret marriage and mysterious murder case As Director Kim Kyu-tae said, "The main axis of 'Trunk' is melodrama and mystery," the secret marriage and mysterious murder case in the drama are connected by a link whose beginning and end are unknown. The story of salvation and love in which Noh In-ji and Han Jeong-won (played by Gong Yoo) heal each other's wounds and fill in their deficiencies creates a heartbreaking thrill, and the process of uncovering the truth along with the trunk found on the lakeside at dawn creates a thrilling tension and draws in viewers. Director Kim Kyu-tae said, "When I first read the script, I was drawn to its strange charm and fresh feeling," and added, "The story's style and direction have been adapted with a different tone from the original. In particular, the melodramatic sensibility and mystery structure have been expanded and amplified," drawing attention. It raises curiosity about what secrets are hidden in the one-year contract-based marriage and the truth that sank into the water with the trunk. ◆ Art and music that will double the emotional line and immersion 'Trunk' is based on the novel of the same name by Kim Ryeo-ryeong, who received attention for her bold subject matter and unique imagination, and director Kim Kyu-tae, who directed dramas such as 'Our Blues' and 'It's Okay, That's Love', and writer Park Eun-young, who wrote 'Hwarang', joined forces. Director Kim Kyu-tae, who took on his first series directing through 'Trunk', raised expectations by saying, "I conceived of a bold style that is not excessive, a unique atmosphere, and a dual image." He did not miss any details either. He put his heart and soul into art and music to double the emotional line of the melodrama and the immersion of the mystery. He said, "I thought a lot about how to implement Han Jeong-won's house (set), which was the most important in the drama, and the key objects (props) such as the trunk and the chandelier," and revealed that he chose a bold tone in terms of art. Also, "In order to amplify the mystery and maintain tension, we utilized music and sounds that pursued strangeness, sensuality, and unconventionality, as well as white noise, and in the editing, we found exquisite timing while going back and forth between mystery and melodrama." The actors also said, "The rich and beautiful angles, art, and music are other things to see in 'Trunk,'" raising expectations for the birth of a well-made mystery melodrama with a high degree of perfection. The Netflix series 'Trunk' will be released worldwide through Netflix at 5 p.m. today (the 29th). https://m.entertain.naver.com/article/312/0000690987

'The Trunk' press conference held on 26th Nov. Secret marriage service at center of new Netflix mystery series 'The Trunk' Kim Ji Ye 26 Nov. 2024 From left, actors Kim Dong-won, Jo Yi-geon, Jung Yun-ha, Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo pose for a photo during a press conference for Netflix's mystery melodrama series ″The Trunk″ held at Raum Art Center in southern Seoul on Tuesday. [YONHAP] Netflix's upcoming original series "The Trunk" dives into the complexities of human relationships and emotions related to marriage, offering a fresh take on love and relationships. “I believe the series will become a project that talks about love and relationships from a slightly different angle,” actor Gong Yoo said during the series’ press conference held at Raum Art Center in southern Seoul on Tuesday. “I also think that the show allows various interpretations depending on the viewers’ perspectives, which is also interesting.” Based on author Kim Ryeo-ryeong’s 2015 novel of the same name, the mystery melodrama, set for release on Friday, follows a couple, Noh In-ji and Han Jeong-won, living under a contract marriage provided by a secret marriage service. However, the mystery behind the secretive service starts to unfold when a storage trunk surfaces. Directed by Kim Kyu-tae, who was behind tvN series “Our Blues” (2022) and SBS series “It’s Okay, That’s Love” (2014), and written by Park Eun-young, the series features actors Gong Yoo, Seo Hyun-jin, Jung Yun-ha, Jo Yi-geon and Kim Dong-won. Seo plays In-ji, an employee of the marriage service New Marriage, who becomes a “contract wife” to Jeong-won. Gong Yoo portrays Jeong-won, who uses the service in an attempt to maintain his relationship with his former wife, Seo-yeon, played by Jung. As the series reveals a psychological mystery among the characters, the show's actors and director shared that this mysteriousness was the element that lured them into taking on their roles. “To be honest, when I first read the script, there were parts that confused me,” director Kim said. “It’s like, I knew it was undeniably exciting, but there was also something that felt both odd, as well as refreshing and literary. I couldn’t easily grasp the characters’ mental states and relationships, which sparked my curiosity. This curiosity drove me deeper into the story, and I began to relate more with their emotions and interactions.” Still from upcoming Netflix series ″The Trunk″ [NETFLIX] The complexities of the characters and the narrative indeed drew the actors to choose the script, according to Seo. “With the story not being direct and having a lot of blank spaces where one must read between the lines, I felt that the way my character is expressed could change depending on who is delivering it. That’s why I wanted to play the role,” Seo said. This complicated yet intriguing complexity of the characters places the series in the mystery genre. While there are various types of mystery works, director Kim said that the series stands apart from others in the genre, focusing more on the “psychological mystery of the characters than the incident-based mystery.” Though the series touches on marriage, actor Seo emphasized that it raises broader questions about relationships beyond the nuptial tie. “I don’t think 'The Trunk' is a drama that challenges the value of marriage at all,” Seo said. “It’s more about pointing out that when we experience love or form relationships, there are not only positive emotions but also deep, underlying feelings that reveal a darker side.” She continued, “Those emotions are portrayed by each character in the series and amplified by them, showing that when these emotions intertwine, there could be relationships where people can either live together or destroy each other. I believe that’s the kind of question the drama poses.” In the series, actor Seo’s character is depicted as a cold and lonely character, who finds marriage disgusting yet ironically chooses it as her profession. The actor hinted that the cold character may have a different side, referring to In-ji as a “hermit crab.” “Like a hermit crab carrying a hard shell to protect itself,” Seo said, “I think In-ji is a character hiding her soft side behind a strong outer shell.” Gong Yoo and Seo, who appear as a couple in the show, also shared that they showed great chemistry off-screen, as they often reached the same conclusions or thoughts. Actor Seo Hyun-jin, left, and Gong Yoo pose for a photo during a press conference for Netflix's mystery melodrama series ″The Trunk″ held at Raum Art Center in southern Seoul on Tuesday. [NEWS1] "I became certain when seeing Seo answering various interview questions that we really think alike," Gong Yoo said. "When she answers questions and talks about the series, she expresses exactly what I was thinking." With its complexity, actor Gong Yoo said that each and every line from the series can be pondered upon, and he encourages viewers to focus on the dialogue to enjoy the series even more. “It's different from other dramas, including that it’s based on a novel. There are many parts where the dialogue can’t just be rushed through,” the actor said. “I would also like to say to viewers not to be too distracted by the show’s outward appearance and somewhat dramatic setting. If they pay more attention to the deeper message it’s trying to convey, viewers will find it much more interesting.” https://koreajoongangdaily.joins.com/news/2024-11-26/entertainment/television/Secret-marriage-service-at-center-of-new-Netflix-mystery-series-The-Trunk/2186720

Wow! Such a wild image, I couldn't recognize this is SHJ! "While working on <Trunk>, the source of my directing inspiration was none other than Seo Hyun Jin's acting. Her performance, which crosses the line between authentic and unconventional, and exudes energy with surprising immersion. Her captivating acting, as if she were receiving talisman, brought about creative inspiration, admiration, and joy."=> Kim Gyu Tae, director of <Trunk> https://www.wkorea.com/2024/08/16/더블유-코리아-vol-9-우먼w-커버-10종/
