Ah, you mean when he was pretending to be the one that already had a yachting license? He was joking there, right? poking fun at himself...

But another thing that I noticed- after the yacht had a leak, and the comedian guy was joking that it was JH's fault since he was the skipper, JH actually agreed with him and said that it was indeed his fault as he should have checked before they went out. And I think he was serious! He was seriously taking responsibility for something that clearly wasn't his fault, for not checking something that even the captain didn't think to check! And I wonder- is this what JH was talking about in the press conference? when he said that everything that he touched broke down and then the other guys had to fix? Is he that self critical?!

haha yea I think it was a joke..He must of felt bad that everyone was working hard on the leak for a while so later on we see him pouring out the water alone.  I kind of wish one other person was with him then.

I don't remember that... When did he say that? Was he talking about TJ?

I agree. Also, seeing what he volunteered to do at the end of the episode- You saw he didn't want to do it, but at the same time he decided to do it so that no one else would have to. He's such an impressive man!

It was in the very beginning of the episode.

I think it's mainly because OUR focus is on hyukie only, me especially so I didn't really notice her being touchy with the other guy hahaha :joy:

Btw, anyone noticed he was holding a different cup while the rest all seemed to be having the same drinks with straws haha. Him and his latte maybe? Lol.

I notice both.  I'm glad he had a lid if it was latte.  Wouldn't want any accidents on the rocky yacht!

@Biology LessonYea I can do without his blonde hair from TJ days too!  I'm surprise you didn't mention anything about what he said about so hard to pretend to be bad.

@azureblue7love your instagram about his hands always being in right place.  This was what I was trying so say since ep 1 hence such a reliable and good friend to have.

I caught the first episode, is the bromance between LDW and Kim Bum? I haven't watched the drama A Korean Odyssey yet (and not sure how good it is and the ratings) but if Cha Seung Won can do fantasy at 47 years old I truly hope a good fantasy/supernatural script passes JH's way soon

Hihi yes it is.  Lol, never thought about age with fantasy, but have faith he can pull it off regardless.

Caught my interest because of Jo Bo Ah, JH's prev co-star hehe. But I've never finished any of LDW's drama so far. Is it watchable? Ratings are good right?

I have mix feelings about it.  It's like for first 1-2 eps her character was strong or maybe a little too bold for some which is rare so it was nice to see.  However, now I feel like they change it a bit.  I feel a little betray where her character is concern because of that, but will see if it's continuing track or temporary.  I still watch to see how story develops.

@KoolOh I did catch like 1st ep of coffee prince one.  You're right always interesting to see what actors have to say about certain scenes.

Haha nice to read again for me too. :P Fantasy like The Nine Tailed Fox? Anybody watching that? I think Hyukie will make a beautiful vampire. LDW has that vampire look too haha. They are so fair.

Yea, I've seen it.  Although, reading comments some people are more interested in bromance vs main romance.

Lol, yea he does have innocent and antihero qualities which would be perfect for an immortal character.  I actually thought Jang Hyuk would pick vampires because they can be pretty complex.  Although, in Korean dramas they aren't that old or in the last few I've seen.

Yes! I would want to say that to him too (quietly) haha. Seriously, he looked simply too delicious during Chuno, and the irony is, for such a down to earth family man, he carried the badass sexy look so perfectly.  Some fan posted this beautiful photo on IG.

Oh that outfit match with this one

    https://www.dramabeans.com/2010/02/jang-hyuk-my-family-is-my-strength/

Lol rereading his chuno interview.  To think he almost did a chinese fantasy drama.  I'm glad he didn't because the cross production usually is not good.  Wonder why he consider chinese fantasy drama, but not really korean fantasy or not one that we know of.

Oh, I agree. He for sure is very protective of his friends. We know that he does everything he can to promote his friends and to get them jobs. In one interview they talked about how if JH thinks one of his friends is having a hard time, JH would call and sometimes even demand that they meet. LDH said that JH called her when she was being bashed during Chuno and also after. A lot of his friends said that he's always there when they need support. We also know that when KSR wanted JH to join Real men as they were having trouble with one of the guys, JH came. Not to mention him always being there for his dragon club friends.

Another thing from the Yacht Expedition episode- wasn't it odd that he said that he is an extrovert, considering he is so shy?

I think he's naturally protective even of people he just met, but like you say go the extra distance with friends.  It's lovely to have a friend like him because I notice recently with my friends too that some people would just suffer alone.  They feel awkward talking about themselves or surprise that someone would want to listen to all that.  I like how observant and sensitive he is to notice because some people seems fine, but you never know.  At least there won't be regret because you reach out.

I did wonder about the translation of extrovert comment too like aren't you literally part of the shy club.  At least said so on life bar.

Now it makes me wonder, when JH is in need, who will come to him? It doesn't necessarily mean those whom you helped before will automatically step forward. Am sure we've experienced this at least once in our lifetime. I hope when JH is in need, he'll have people step forward willingly.

Yea, I know what you mean.  I do believe in Karma though.  Even out of 10 maybe he'll at least have 1 to be there.  I think I'm more concern about  whether he would be open about needing help.  Those that take care of others well don't always take care of themselves well or don't want to be a burden to others.

I was fascinated that once JH was on the Yacht, it felt like he couldn't contain himself :) His immersion into a situation seems so fast and complete, that he couldn't stop repeating "This is fun! This is fun!". It reminded me of his behavior when he listens to music- he immediately gets absorbed in it, swaying and singing. That ability is very childlike, I don't understand how he still is like that, but I'm jealous of him for that... And I guess his child-like immersion makes people seem to want to take care of him, even though he's quite capable  I always remember the guy in the travel show grabbing him by the hand and dragging him to the bus, as JH wandered off to another bus, or the guy that wiped JH's mouth in Bar life :D

Haha yea they say he doesn't even have that expression when he's acting.  Just pure innocent happiness.  I'm kind of jealous of that myself.  Something we can learn from him.  Despite them wanting to take care of him, but notice how quick he switch gears to look after someone when he sense they're in danger.  I say very reliable and protective.

But overall it was such a fun show, love how hyukie seems to be the youngest, no wonder he said he's very young haha. :joy: Yeah, the other guy looks so young for a 40yo. I was so surprised too.

Ya, I love that about him, he's like a kid, he doesn't harbour ill feelings. Love that.

HIhi not even youngest, but sometime they literally compare him to a child.  So many things to say, but afraid it might be spoiler.  Have we all watch the episode yet?

yes all casts get along very fast. the funny part is that everyone except JH cursed at the jet ski but it turns out to be their acquaintance. hahaha I see that JH doesn't get upset easily. not sure if he's really in the mid of focusing on riding yacht so he didn't care other things. :D

Hihi he's probably strategizing like is it a passerby or a real nuisance and if later what's best efficient way to deal with it and move through quickly.  The fact that he doesn't really remember or have those vengeful memories.  I think there was an interview about that.  I think he doesn't get upset easily or even if he did get upset he forgets about it quickly.

And like for @budgerie , the interaction of CTH with JH is not enjoyable for me to watch.

This does make me wonder.  Most of the time they just call the hint person, but the fact that CTH is physically there makes me wonder if he have a bigger part in the show.  They have had friends stay before, but in such a case JH probably chose it.

@nyk they don't go to all the masters' house.  The master can pick any spot they want so still possible for him to be on show.  Like for the sports guy they slept at the gym.

Do you know this show? I saw several clips and it looks like they mostly sing. I don't understand...

What confuses me is that apparently the Sabu is supposed to be a mystery until the episode airs, but JH's name was added to Wikipedia already? And again, that ballet spin... not a typical JH move...

But looks like Lee Seung gi's fans are happy about this, cause some of them complain he's not getting enough screen time on the show. And the more people exposed to JH's unicorness, the better :)

Oh, you are saying that this current group is a bit too hyper, and might overwhelm JH?

Sabu can be from any industry.  They have singers, actors, director, comedians, chef, and olympics/sports people on the show before so the possibilities are endless.  To understand or have glimpse of  the master's world (philosophies, schedule, challenges etc)

Most of the games are more against the members, but sometime they bet and master join too.  The group is more noisy compare to past so even for audience some are not as use to it, but it also depend on the master.  I think they will tone it down if JH seem upset, but he usually smile or laugh it off so hard to say.  hihi he's a big boy though so I think he'll manage.

OK, I have no idea what show this "Master in the house" is, but I've noticed several posts on twitter suspecting that JH will be the next Sabu (?!), whatever that is. Looking at the vid, the guy's blurred profile actually looks like JH, though that ballet spin makes me think it's not, also the way the guy moves seem wrong. The thing is that both CTH and Lee Seung gi  are in this show- (how many shows are these guys doing?!).... So JH might have been dragged to this show too... I don't know...

Sabu just means master.  CTH is just there because he's the hint fairy because they're best friends.  At least according to instagram you posted.  They always guess who the master is before meeting and use someone that works with the master or who the master is close with.  If Jang Hyuk is the master, then master get to choose challenge or show how a day in his life is like or whatever he want to teach them.  I think that would be interesting.  I wish he would of been in show with old group though because then more balance two calm people and two hyper person.  However, still happy if he's on their show.

Did you see The Movie Beats and Hancinema (with spoilers) review? I thought they were much better

I included links to those here:

    https://stuckonhyuk.wordpress.com/2020/10/04/the-swordsman-검객-trailer-reviews-and-more/

About Rurouni Kenshin, I know it has many fans but, I honestly couldn’t get into the movie when I tried. Maybe if its a little “aged” for me at this point or I just wasn’t in the right mood to enjoy it at the time. That fan also had some kind of nationalistic issue. It was just annoying. He probably hasn’t even watched the movie.

Yea I read the movie beat review.  I just like to read here and there just to see. HIhi wasn't it in that one they call him puppy face too?  They might just being talking about his hair, but I just see his face in hometown flex for some reason.

I just think there are some things in anime hard to transfer over to real life movie form sometime or if you don't do it correctly can end up being very tacky.

I actually didn't like this review so much, because of the dismissal of the plot due to its predictability. I mean, the plot in FTLY was predictable, and still it's the best K drama I've seen! Looking at action movies, how many of them are really that original?!

As to the rurouni kenshin comparisons. I haven't seen that movie, but I've seen clips from its fight scenes, and those, to me, were very fake looking. The use of CGI and wires was very clear, so I wasn't impressed. While in JH's fight scenes you see him slam into the ground several times in the no cut fight scene. There were no wires in that scene. So even if I wasn't a JH fan, I would prefer his fighting scenes.

As to the insults- this is something we see a lot on the internet- fans of one show or movie, slam and insult a similar production. You will see that a lot also between practitioners of different martial arts- lots of insults and put downs flying about :)

Actually, JH doesn't really get bash that much compare to some.  I have seen worse.

Just seeing what's out there while waiting for JH's next work or variety.  When does his variety show start again?

  17. Hm..finally a review we can completely understand.  Wonder if we'll agree after all of us watch it.

Saying it was walmart version of rurouni kenshin was harsh though in the comments.  I love the anime, but the movie never made me that interested to follow as much.

@corey I’m not excited (or unexcited), but yeah 200k is very little :P. Well, his account is private, not verified and has a strange not intuitive handle. Also, he is not a “trendy” actor. Imo, it’s not surprising that he doesn’t have as many followers as the ones you mention. And he doesn’t even make an effort to use social media for marketing. For that he would need to pay a specialist to help with his account, create content, do some paid posts for promotion etc. I mean there are celebrities that have followers effortlessly, simply because they are famous,  but there are others who leverage their platforms further and become influencers as a result (Will Smith is a good example) but anyway, social media requires some work too and it can become a powerful marketing tool, but I don’t see JH caring much about that though.

Oh yea my friend got into that there's certain algorithm and that changes from time to time.  It's like a whole ordeal.  Although, I think that's part of his charm to us is that he doesn't try so hard.

@corey I understand your “allergy”. Im actually super private. Like, Im “anti social” on social. I have personal FB and IG accounts where I have friends and family but I rarely use them. At this point I use them as a “phone book” because as you know, I am an immigrant so this is a way to sort of still have a link to family back in my country. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t even have accounts. My FB and IG fangirling accounts are much more active and even those get abandoned from time to time :P I have questioned this about myself like I wonder if there’s something wrong with me that I simply can’t bring myself to embrace these? But I guess it might be a personality + generational thing (Im Gen X and a closet introvert. Like, people don’t think I’m introverted but I know I am) I am perfectly ok with using message boards and discuss any trivial topic but I really really don’t care about what my friends ate yesterday or what their political views are or seeing co-workers acting like celebrities, giving advice about life etc etc etc Lol like fix your own life first dude!!! And also, I work in the entertainment industry, I’ve been a social media and community manager for different entertainment related brands but Im awful at my own personal social media management lol

About JH posting in english, he used to, but in his latest posts he hasn’t even added a caption. I guess he knows his pretty face is enough for us

hehe if u find a caption it'll be in english usually then korean.  I use my fb to help me remember birthdays.  I don't quite get ig since you can do more with fb, but tried it out and to read certain news.

As I said before, I am really, really alergic to any sort of social media. I struggled with myself for many months before I registered here. Never had facebook account either. I am too old fashioned I suppose [sigh].

I thing someone wrote that he posts a lot in Englisj, right? Does he post in Korean too? Maybe when I learn enough Korean to understand and perhaps comment, I will bring myself to create an account especially for this....

Yea his later posts were all in English that's why I was surprise.  He also follow English for Koreans so I think he might still be learning English.  Thanks for gracing us with your presence here.

But those who already followed him can still post comments, unless he go filter and kick out those naughty ones.

Well I just mean by looking at the rate his fans were increasing stopping it soon at 274k would be easier before it hit 400k and get really out of hand.  Maybe he wasn't expecting it to increase that quickly hence he put it back to private so soon.  Also, he can also have help from manager to kick out existing or really naughty ones.
