Yes, I like how KH is calmly assertive. And I think I read a comment on the tent pitching YT video that only Hyuk and KH can do that to KJK (Hyuk yelling at KJK that he didn't want to camp, he came to ride a horse and KH rebuking politely at KJK). Hahaha! Maybe they are the youngest in the group..lol.

Also, interesting that both KH and JH are INFJs.   I know MBTI can have flaws, but according to the description it would explain all the conversations a few pages back about contradictions too.

Didn't really know KH before this show but enjoying it and always nice to see JH

@Biology Lesson Yup! I tend to react immediately and always have my own personal “issue” with JH being loud but it won’t deter me from watching the drama. Also, without subs I have no bleep idea whats going on lol! Im definitely curious. The last scene of the episode had me so confused I want to understand what is going onnnn!

Hm..seem like his supposedly "trade boss" came to visit, but also there to help him protect the family.  I think from description before Jang Nara was already upset about him not having time for family.  It doesn't help that his boss is pretty even his daughter says so.

I have to say I love their father-and-daughter relationship.  He is kind of loud to me, but I will also wait a couple of episodes to see.

I think without looking at the subs, it did look like that. But after watching with subs, it's like what you mentioned, they were saying Hyuk was more serious the 2nd time as he did it faster.

Hihi actually first time was pretty fast not counting beginning part where he was getting the feel.  I think he had bigger and more powerful movements the second time around.  I'm just glad that he's having fun like he mentioned for the balance game .

Saw this clip on YT and I can just about follow the gist of what they're saying. At some point, I think Hyukie's competitiveness came out and they were probably telling him not to outdo the main guest. What was interesting was them asking Donnie Yen to rate him. It is what I've always suspected in that to the untrained eye they probably always doubted Hyukie's skills as a martial artist - even when they called him an action star I've always felt it was mostly lip-service and they never really respected him as such. The fact that someone deemed a "true martial artist" (by their standards) recognised his skills and training has probably elevated him a little (one would hope). Even KJK was surprised when DY said his moves were consistent with someone who trained in jeet kun do. Don't know what this means in the grand scheme of things but it would be great if he actually got a chance to work with someone as revered as DY. My man's too underrated in his damn country...hate how people who can't do sh#% in action are getting box office hits domestically. It's also a matter of him picking better movies, if I am honest. The Killer was probably too stylish and stylised for my taste. I want something darker and grundgier

I thought I was the only who thinks his look is unreal these days. Had a stray thought that I'd love if his next project after Family was some sort of live action anime. I'm still owed a man bun and some eyeliner. Not seen many anime but I'm sure there is a grouchy, dishevelled in a hot mess kind of way, character he could digest. Potentially one who is an experiment away from being a super villain

Also, Donnie Yen looks amazing for a guy pushing 60

Agree Donnie does look good for his age.

As for Hyuk, I didn't take it as bad thing that they ask for an expert's opinion.  They do that on plenty of shows.  What they were saying here is Hyuk had demonstrated earlier once before.  In front of Donnie it was the second time so they were just saying it was different than the first time.  Also, saying Hyuk is doing it much more seriously since Donnie was there.  It was more friendly tease.

And to @dramafan33's point about being bored, I'm afraid that is also partly due to JH. We've had this conversation in another form but my opinion is that people are bored of him, especially in the action genre. I haven't seen The Killer but I suspect it's a montage of his greatest hits fighting wise. It made me think back to the comment that the director made on Super Action, something along the lines of doing realistic action.

From the little I managed to translate, this review is really negative about The Killer, and most of the comments below are also really negative. This again, raises the question- what's with the Korean viewers?! What is their problem really with JH?

Actually, I'm not too bother by it as someone mentioned in the comments the views of this channel doesn't seem too big for a movie.  Also, not as much comments. It also seem like some are Bruce Khan's fans and maybe Jackie Chan's fans since his name was brought up for Swordsman etc.

Thank you, thank you! I enjoy writing yes but I don't have the attention span for it. I've always wanted to be the story by person and then have a partnership with someone who can actually write the screenplay. These days I've had to resort to writing the scripts myself.

Yes JH has inspired a lot of stories as yet to be written but I am doing the background reading and storyboard, etc. Dialogue is tricky...and I tend to juggle multiple projects and procrastinate on top of doing an office job

I should really stop making excuses and get down to it

welcome, looking forward to reading the story if you ever finish or find a partner to help.

I will be sad when QD starts turning against PGW. I know he deserves to suffer, mostly in this case, for being such a bad lover lol, but I will feel sorry for them and that bond they currently have (even if its toxic)

I feel the same and it's looking more like what you said after ep 9 :cold_sweat:

Does anyone understands what is being said in the preview for ep. 9? Notice a scene in which PGW is walking on what looks like blood soaked ground. The long awaited flashback?

Much of Yoo Jung’s power resides in the fact that she is perfectly ok with dying if it is for something she feels is important. They can’t threaten her with her own life. Again, kinda reminds me of Piljoo who was almost suicidal. It gave him that “I have nothing to lose, and Ill go down with this ship” edge

I was just thinking about it and more about PGW's talk with his son.  He didn't want a King on just sheer luck and YJ is the ruler that have demonstrated this throughout.  It's more than the fact that she was willing to sacrifice herself, but from his statement of did she not leave or she chose to come back.   She was never a victim of circumstance, but acted accordingly.  Everything was her decision or plan.  I have to say that ep 8 has the most comments and happy that some other people are not seeing PGW as the final villain.

That terror never left him and throughout the entire episode he was out of control, being played by her. But in order to achieve that, she has become as ruthless as he is, having no problem with sacrificing enunch Jung and PGW's family, all to free a cruel brat of a king?

I don't think she is quite as ruthless as PGW.  He justifies his actions with his belief and strategically force them to do what he wants.  She actually ask the person where they stand first so there is still free will and include them in the plan.

As far as family, his wife is loyal to do his bidding.  Only the son seem to be self righteous and the rest are strangers that are related to her family's killer so maybe less on sympathy scale.  I don't think there's any royal dramas free from innocent lives being lost or it'll be hard to avoid and she still have her only-like family people to save which would weigh more than PGW's family.  While LT might not proven himself as king, I'm sure her lover is still the better option vs. the controlling evil PGW ruling behind the scenes in her eyes for the people.

I just saw the scene with his son and he is clearly losing control now. I wish I understood the dialogue.

    Spoiler

PGW: What are u doing here

son: I hear you have been troubled these days.  Mother is deeply worried.  Is it due to Lady Park?  Chief Royal Secretary             did say something disturbing, but those soundless rumors will soon subside so please do not worry.  Lady Park is not           one to behave that erratically. After all it was her wisdom that solved the issues with the scholars.

PGW.  It was you.  It was you all along.  Of course.  Even the chief scholar would be open to your suggestion. So tell me.                 Did you relay her proposal as ordered?  All while knowing it can ruin our family chances of being related to the                       Queen.

Son:  Who's to be queen should be decided by the royal family and his majesty.

PGW:  The Queen failing to give an heir to the mainline of descent has been the root of this madness.  A son from the mainline of descent must receive proper education in order to be a sage ruler.  How are we suppose to serve a king that is handed the throne out of sheer luck?

Son:  So you coveted the power of the crown prince too?  Your greed is that excessive.

PGW.  I will be the one who crowns the future king.  Never will we be ruled by a tyrant again.

Son:  That is not your duty.

PGW:  That is my duty!  Only I am capable of this.

Son:  Why can you not see the arrogance that you display makes you seem like a power-hungry subject?

PGW:  You foolish boy! If I were power-hungry, I would of already taken over the Three Offices.  Your incorruptible demeanor  Do you actually believe it is of your own free will?  It is not.  It is what I allowed.  It was I.  it was I who allowed it!   If your king were a tyrant, you would of taken a much different path.  A much different path.

@Biology Lesson @azureblue7 In some scenes Lee Joon is looking pale as a vampire and has dark circles. Its like they want him to look sickly? Maybe to reflect his constant stressed tormented state? But they could take it down a notch because he is looking a bit like a hungry vampire (awww I like Lee Joon but the makeup is a bit much in certain scenes) JH on the other hand looks good and natural (skin wise) in outdoor scenes. But indoors he looks golden and dark! I think its the lighting. They are going overboard trying to make him look like a “villain” imo

I'm glad you mentioned it cus I was thinking the same after comparing Lee Joon at the press conference vs Lee Joon in the drama.  I know makeup can try to show stress etc like you mentioned, but usually that don't deter from their actual looks that much.

Why is our dear ajincome so concerned with this private account that has only 58 followers?

That's sweet of him.  I know some stars have a public account for everyone and a private account for close friends/family etc.  That's how some people get scam with an account with few friends.  Although, I haven't seen it as much for instagram.  I think it would be detrimental both as scamming for money or emotional/psychological.  There's different extremes of fandom so can never know how far it goes.

Finished ep 3, fast forwarded the parts when OTP are together haha

Lol, I didn't fast fwd, but was multitasking.  Is that similar?  I still don't know how I feel about this drama.  It's really lukewarm so far.  It's like waiting forever for this drama to come out, but none of the ep so far had my attention beginning to end.  It's still early so hopefully it gets better.

To me it felt like an old man was calling for a old friend who he feels regrets towards, hoping to be heard. Maybe because the friend's condition was similar to dr Cha's and grandfather was hoping for him to be there. At the same time remembering they moments together.

But honestly not sure - something doesn't match here. If it was blood related thing, should Seung Tak's mom or his cousine see ghosts too? It would cause a question why only Seung Tak and the grandfather can, and if his father also saw them? I think there might be other reasons playing a role, and that grandfather wishes to see, to be able to talk, to explain, to spend time, or to ask for something bothering him.

hihi yea that's my initial response to like him calling out to friend then seeing seung tak and dr. cha as parallel.  Although, I'm open to them being related as well.

As far as ability goes I don't think necessarily just because you're related that everyone in family needs to have that ability.  Like genes not pass on to everyone.  Also, we don't know if that ability need something extra like a catalyst such as trauma.  I also wonder since the grandfather can no longer see Tess if the same thing will happen to Seung Tak going back to the order of the living and the dead that Tess mentioned.

But the matter with the cooperation between them is still a bit... weird to me, not the fact they're working together or that they're effective, it's nice to see them together, Seung Tak learning and dr Cha feeling more at ease, but the pace it's been happening feels irregular.

I'm kind of on fence with this that's why I didn't mention Seung Tak and Dr. Cha just family feud part.  Although, Seung Tak still didn't change that much.  We haven't seen him do squats or learning to be an actual doctor and I think that would be endgame.  Since Dr. Cha is the professor to finish teaching/encouraging ST to save people with his own two hands.  Right now ST is only letting him use his body and more like helping Dr. Cha with his wish with time he has left so I felt that was still in character.

I must say I liked the episode, but i have feeling strange about the pace things happened in the story. We have like four episodes dedicated to them to form working system, but a mere few minutes when they clean the mess the scheming trio created. And then suddenly, Seung Tak is all on board for learning and being the most cooperative partner... It's confusing. One moment the mother is the one anxious and Seung Won having upper hand, the next she's smug and he feels in the corner. It's lacking the balance... Am I the only one?

    :sweats:

Hm..I didn't think it was that strange in the case of family feuds.  Sure he had something on Seung Tak, but I think him committing a crime and putting the hospital at risk would look worse in front of grandfather so she has the right to be smug.

Did anyone know who is actually Tess? Is he just ghost or he is also coma at the hospital? We have seen other patients who are in coma (the three ghost) but none seen Tess yet right?

Yea, this was my only problem with the drama.  I thought he was just an ordinary ghost and Dr. Cha was coma ghost hence the explanation of why Tess has no boundary and could possess other people.... where it was abnormal for Dr. Cha to possess someone.  However, later drama made it that if body dies soul dies route which also different from many other dramas.  The drama say when human desperate pray for deity or spirit if deity is busy so I haven't left that possibility out either.

I was wondering how Seung Tak will know about dr Cha's condition. It turns out it was Tess gives the information away. I wonder if he did it on purpose because he wanted Seung Tak to know or he thought that the ghost are still invisible.

Tess doesn't seem too surprise when Seung Tak and Dr. Cha was talking outside so maybe he already knew he can see ghost.  Tess is suppose to be smart and observant right.  I think he had suspicion before, but kdrama doesn't always follow logic.

Also, fact checking... When Seung Tak was in the hospital after the accident with his father, is it possible that dr Cha was a resident or still an intern? The timeline matches...

Do you think maybe Seung Tak's dad was the one that possess Dr. Cha?  I mean him and his cousin both work in the hospital so it wouldn't be surprising for his dad to be a doctor.  It would tie nicely to the story if Seung Tak have some kind of closure where his father is concern since he was traumatize by the whole incident.  Maybe his father didn't die because of Seung Tak, but he did what Dr. Cha is doing now...
