  1. Yes @willenette, it's so nice to finally be able to stop by after a long while ... am going to struggle to visit more often in August but hopefully I'll have more time towards the end of the year. Rain Cloud Europe pointed me to this article. To me, Rain is very relevant as actor, singer and dancer --------------------- https://www.forbes.com/sites/joanmacdonald/2019/08/12/longtime-hallyu-star-rain-shines-in-fantasy-drama-welcome-2-life/#4440dfed2d96 185 views Aug 12, 2019, 11:32am Longtime Hallyu Star Rain Shines In Fantasy Drama 'Welcome 2 Life' Joan MacDonald Contributor Hollywood & Entertainment I'm a journalist fascinated by Korean drama and film. Lim Ji Yeon and Jung Ji Hoon aka Rain play alternating sides of the same characters in the Korean fantasy drama 'Welcome 2 Life' MBC A whole decade before BTS made Hallyu history on the U.S. charts, with their record-breaking k-pop releases, another Korean singer made waves in the U.S. by winning a coveted MTV award for acting. That singer-dancer-actor was Jung Ji Hoon aka Bi Rain, who snagged the award for his second Hollywood film Ninja Assassin. Rain personifies the entertainment label of being a “triple threat,” having released six Korean albums and one Japanese album, plus 28 singles. He is so popular in China that his 2019 concert was the first major performance of a Korean star in China since political tensions over the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAD) treaty between the U.S. and South Korea prompted the Chinese government to ban Korean performers in 2016. He’s toured the world several times, as well as appeared in several Korean films and Korean and Chinese television dramas, most recently his current k-drama, Welcome 2 Life. In Welcome 2 Life, he plays a lawyer of dubious ethics, a lawyer who brilliantly twists the system to benefit his corrupt rich clients. A co-worker comments that for a lawyer he is truly lawless. “Are lawyers meant to con and not defend people,” a fellow prosecutor asks him, after he defends an obviously guilty client by turning cruelly on a defendant. The only clue viewers have that Lee Jae Sang has not completely sold his soul is his relationship with the overly zealous, honest police officer Ra Shi On, played by award-winning actress Lim Ji Yeon. She tries to remind him to act like a human being but gets so frustrated by his amoral court performances that she hits him with a gavel, pulls out his hair, and literally kicks him to the curb with her powerful sneakered feet. It vicariously feels good when she punches him, because in that instance viewers can guess she is trying to revive his conscience. She hits him because she hasn’t given up on him, having known him for 12 years and having hoped that he would become a righteous lawyer who battles the powerful and corrupt. It’s her concern that eventually leads him to confront the rotten state of the world he’s helped to create—case-by-case. He’s sickened by the evil he sees and is about to provide evidence against his corrupt clients when he becomes the victim of a hit job. Only he does not die. Then the drama, which until now had been a crime and corruption story, does what Korean dramas are so adept at. It unexpectedly switches genre. Welcome 2 Life transforms into the ever-popular “if I had a chance to do my life over” fantasy genre in which characters get to examine the consequences of the choices they did and did not make. Since Lee Jae Sang’s world is shades of gray with no black and white moral code, the first part of the drama is filmed in gray blues and greens. Then he wakes up in a world where he’s a righteous man and Ra Shi On admires him enough to be his wife. He’s suddenly living in a world with defined colors. Who is Rain’s character in this alternate world? That remains to be seen. Although he’s one of the first true Hallyu stars, Rain is never one to be satisfied with past accomplishments. His Welcome 2 Life role only confirms how relevant an actor he can be.
  2. MBC Section TV crew visited Welcome2Life shooting and interviewed the cast. As usual Rain was very playful and of course he would be the NG King Section TV Ep 972 was aired on 9 Aug 2019
  3. "I might not be able to meet my family members if I reset my life, so I don't want to restart it" Awww isn't he sooooooo sweet? but of course we know Rain is a very sweet guy ... Exclusive interview of Welcome 2 Life main cast Jung Ji Hoon, Lim Ji Yeon, Kwak Si Yang and Son Byung Ho for Kocowa TV: @willenette hello to you, I've been up to my ears through out June, July and this month too managed to follow Rain's activities but not much time for forums and social media Wishing Rain and the cast all the best with this new drama. Welcome 2 Life fighting!
  4. Yes, that was in Busan and yes, he was filming in Busan On the first night of his fanmeetings in Vancouver, there was a very funny scene. He was towards the end of "Love Story", there was an intentional pause, and one fan couldn't help but screamed. The audience laughed and Rain couldn't help but laughed too - it's priceless to see him laughing so hard. Haha.
  5. Should we start a thread in the Kdrama forum for his new drama? I haven't seen one yet.
  6. "Sketch" was aired in Japan on DATV (Discover Asia TV), and its DVD sets were released in Japan, set 1 on 9 May and set 2 on 4 June. They are available for ordering on amazon.co.jp
  7. Full House has been on Netflix for a while, at least since July last year I have been able to watch it. So is Rain's Diamond Lover. But this version of Full House on Netflix does not have some scenes that I like a lot, for example, the scene after Ji-eun drew a ring and a watch on Young-Jae's finger and wrist, YJ went back to his room sitting alone admiring his "jewelry". I particularly like YJ's face expression when he looked at his "watch". Netflix's Diamond Lover shows the alternative ending to the version aired in China (and caused so much online protests ) of Mei Li and Xiao Lang being back together. Must be their trip to Italy with his dad before the little princess was born. I cannot wait for this drama to see him on the small screen again. Hello to you @willenette, I've had a month of too much travel, hopefully things will slow down in July/August so I could follow Rain's new drama. Fighting! Thank you very much, @Nancyzak, for updating the first page
  8. According to Rain Vietnam fanpage, which obtained the news from a weibo blog (as credited in the pictures), Rain was at a rehearsal for CDAC/Asian Culture Carnival in Beijing today. Besides Rain, other artists attending the event are expected to be Andy Lau, Jacky Chan, Jet Li, Wakin Chau, Jacky Cheung, JJ Lin, EXO's Lay ...
  9. The handsome dad was spotted at 현대카드 (Hyundai Card) Cooking Library last Monday May 6
  10. Hmm not up-to-date journalism? After "Carefree Travelers" Rain spent 2018 New Year's eve in Taiwan performing at the year-end concert! He was last in Taiwan in September 2018! for his fan-meeting! Anyway, I love how he looked at the Tiffany event, absolutely dashing! And am ecstatic at the news of his new drama! Yay, Rain is back to the small screen +dancing across the room+ Love it, love it, love it! I finally got to order the Sketch DVD set 1, another yay, am waiting to order set 2 in June. Can't wait to receive it! The handsome dad was spotted at 현대카드 (Hyundai Card) Cooking Library last Monday May 6 For the Clouds who are in Korea next week, there is a chance to see the man at 28th Gumi University Festival on 17 May.
  11. Congratulations, Rain, on the 17th anniversary of your official debut. Rain's fans posted many of his clips to celebrate the occasion. I'd like to share here two songs from his first album that are special to me. The first is Instead of Saying Goodbye, one of the three singles from his first album, N.001. When someone compiles a list of Rain's top songs, this song rarely makes it, but he actually performs it a lot on stage throughout his career. This song is special to me for two reasons. One - it is a song that could be credited with "reviving" his first album. And two - I just really love him on the stage singing the song, though its lyrics is sad, he was just having so much fun on the stage with his dancing and the whole performance is just really an overdose of cuteness. The second song is my most favorite from his first album, in fact, it's one of my most favorite love ballads in all languages and of all times. As your Vietnam fan club wrote on the congratulatory banner "It has been such a wonderful journey with you"! Happy Anniversary!

  13. Am very grateful to Mr. Kim for always encouraging Rain to act, giving Rain that dual role in the school project to convince him that he can act. As I said earlier, I came to know of Rain as an actor first and he is such a fine actor that I really appreciate. I like it that he doesn't want to be boxed in a stereotype of characters and acting. He challenges himself to portray different roles and act in different genres, both on small and big screens. Unfortunately, for a drama or a movie, it takes so much more than just a good male lead to be successful. Rain's latest Weibo post Credit: RainVietnam fanpage It actually took him about 20mins to finish the post haha, it started with just a "Hi" Then he added in some more words ... Then, finally, he was able to upload a picture! Tada!
  14. Arts, as it appeals to feelings and perception, is subjective so am perfectly okay when someone doesn't like what I like, because a lot of times I don't like what many people like While I agree that MLG's script was ultimately responsible for the drama's low rating, unlike the writer of the soompi post, I have no issue with Hyun Wook falling in love with the younger sister of his deceased girlfriend. Supposedly, Se Na was a strong girl, different from most of the girls in the showbiz even though she aspired to be a musician/song-writer and I could see why HW fell for her. Of course, on the screen, like you @willenette, I don't think Krystal was up to the role. She was too young for it - I don't mean her age, rather I don't think she had enough life experience to portray such a character. Side note: 11 years before MLG, Rain was cast to portray someone 6-7 years older than his real age (Cha Sang Doo was supposed to be around 27-28 years old when Rain was only 21) and he performed beautifully. In my opinion, his excellent performance owed a lot to the fact that up to that point Rain had been through lots of unfortunate experience, he had had to fight hard, he himself has a big kind heart and a strong love for life, so he had a good reservoir of emotion to tap into and project out. Besides, though at the time of Sang Doo, Let's Go To School, Rain had had no acting experience, except for a few acting courses he took at Anyang Arts Highschool (which he often skipped to practice dancing), he did have good acting potential, as observed by his teacher of acting (one of the seven Rainmakers ). Back to MLG, my biggest issues, aside from Krystal's acting, are when the screenwriter decided to have Hyun Wook delayed telling Se Na the truth and eventually let Se Na receive the news from Jae Young instead (arghhh!) and then, 4 episodes later, have Se Na swayed by Hyun Wook's father's words and decided to leave him. That totally doesn't make any freaking sense to me. But I love MLG, really. It's a drama I can come back watching any time, because of Rain's acting - he carried the whole drama. I love how Rain portrayed LHW's loneliness, I love LHW's wit and I love LHW's love for Se Na. MLG isn't as good a drama of Rain as his other K-dramas but, and it's a big BUT, MLG has a happy ending (yay!). Of course, Dalbongie is a huge plus
  15. Although many details have been blurred, as we know, 17 years ago, on April 24th was the first occasion when Rain appeared as a solo singer on stage and danced and sang the famous Bad Guy at the recording for his first show, called Show Music Tank. It was scheduled regularly on Fridays by KMTV, which was a cable channel so the broadcast may have been on April 26th. After two days, on April 28th Rain performed at Popular Song (Inkigayo), and that show was broadcasted on SBS, which is a country-wide TV channel. As we know, Rain regards that day as his real debut. Although his Clouds likes to celebrate him, so usually, we used to hold a four-day yearly event During the first months of his career, he performed Bad Guy on many occasions. He wore a unique and beautiful silk costume in several different colors and tailoring versions. His appearances were almost equal to a fashion show You can find the collection of the first 32 performances between April and July 2002 in the linked blog post. https://incrediblerain.blogspot.com/2016/07/song-history-daltortenet-bad-guy_4.html?fbclid=IwAR2L2NkRFZUVlB_oewHk3kagdahmYgHi188FmQKS9wtTpBpjlqCekidi8us Credit: RAINCloudEurope
