  2. @Yippeun_eonnie I personally do not believe in these interpretations. A short Video clips would not tell a whole story. It was also his first time ever receiving an overwhelming award so he was too nervous to think it straight. The Baeksang officials also stated that he was arranged there. He seems like a person who follows instructions, as you can see all his bts in “pretty noona”. He is very polite and takes the director’s instructions to heart. I believe he is a respectful person. He became exploded popular thanks to “pretty noona who buys me food” so some haters may take this opportunity to bash his image. I hope his acting journey continues to grow. He has good acting skills. We’ll see more of his personality. I would not judge him negatively too quickly.

  9. Another review for SYJ and SJS movie “Be with you”

It is very easy to see why Be With You broke box office records in South Korea last month.

A remake of the 2004 Japanese film of the same name, the fantasy melodrama is extremely easy on the eyes, and while the story is nothing extraordinary, it is affecting nonetheless.

Perhaps being a parent to a young child allows me to connect with the characters even more.

The thought of my boy growing up without a mother did cross my mind many times. How will my loved ones cope? The story revolves around that but, of course, the topic is heavily sugar-coated.

I'm not a K-movie aficionado, but I remember watching Son Ye Jin in The Classic (2003) and being impressed by her ability to emote.

The actress has hardly aged and her Soo A is a marvel to behold. Her pretty wardrobe works to her advantage too. So Ji Sub plays the devoted dad Woo Jin convincingly.

When the couple's romance - from a high school infatuation to awkward courtship days - is recounted via flashbacks, it is no surprise why Soo A fell for the sensitive Woo Jin.

When he continues to woo his wife upon her return, each scene is designed to make your heart melt despite you knowing how cliched it is.

All this works because of the flawless chemistry between the two adults.

Child actor Kim Ji Hwan is also a wonder. He wins you over with his charming innocence right from the start, when he climbs into Soo A's wardrobe to fall asleep among her clothes. That simple scene is so tender and bittersweet.

The big reveal at the end is puzzling, but by that time, you are already so invested in the film that you don't even question it.

At 132 minutes, Be With You - which opens here on April 19 - moves at a leisurely pace, slowly revealing nuggets of information about each character.

By the time it reaches the final act, you'd probably already become a soggy mess, but there's no shame in that as the people around you will definitely be sniffling too.

Udine 2018 Review: BE WITH YOU, Pleasant Fantasy Drama Stays the Course

An engaging new vehicle for stars Son Ye-jin and So Ji-sub, directed by Lee Hang-joon.

Pierce Conran, Contributor; Seoul, South Korea (@pierceconran)

    May 1 2018, 9:00 PM

The Korean fantasy romance, a genre that has spawned modern classics such as Il Mare and Ditto, has fallen on hard times in recent years but makes a strong case for a return to form with Be With You, an engaging new vehicle for stars Son Ye-jin and So Ji-sub.

Woo-jin and Soo-a are a happily married couple in the countryside who live with their young son Ji-ho, until one day when Soo-a dies unexpectedly. Woo-jin does his best to live on, taking care of Ji-ho. A year to the day following Soo-a's death, she returns to them, but without any memories of who she was.

Based on a Japanese book by Takuji Ichikawa published in 2003 that has already served as the basis for a Japanese film and TV show, Be With You lands in Korea as a tried-and-tested narrative and as such the film marks a successful debut outing for director Lee Hang-joon. Shuffling through familiar codes at a comfortable pace and designing a handsome mise-en-scene that serves to spotlight the leads rather than draw too much attention to itself, Lee's presence at the helm is a confident one.

Son Ye-jin returns to the genre in which she made her name in the first place in films such as A Moment to Remember after spending the last few years expanding her repertoire and cementing her status as a serious and versatile actress. Beyond her natural grace and expressiveness, Son brings a heightened sense of control to Soo-a as she crafts a performance that is hard to draw your eyes away from.

Following last year's period action blockbuster The Battleship Island, So Ji-sub makes a comeback as a hardy yet sensitive lead as Woo-jin. With his strong and chiseled physique, So always has to lose something for his character to work as a romantic lead. In Always it was his voice, here, he loses his wife and confidence. Though admittedly no match for Son's talent, he acquits himself well as he layers his part with quiet charm, inner strength and a considerable dose of vulnerability.

As with other fantasy dramas, Be With Youpresents its supernatural premise early and avoids going into the details, hoping that the viewer will settle in and accept the film's world for what it is. Compared to other films like it, Lee's work offers a lot of exposition in its final stretch, while still remaining firmly rooted in fantasy. This turns out to be a double-edged sword, as the effort to give more weight to the premie is admirable but its execution is convoluted as it ropes together several prosaic Korean twists.

Be With You may be a touch too manufactured to take a place right alongside the modern romantic classics of Korean cinema, but it rises above the majority of heart-tuggers the industry has put forward for much of the past decade. Along with Little Forest, Korean film melodrama seems to be making a quiet comeback in early 2018.

  12. New model chosen for CheongKwanJang Everytime
KGC's red ginseng products loved by young and old
    • By Michael Herh

Jung Hae-in, one of the newest TV stars in Korea, is the new model for KGC's best-selling red ginseng product, CheongKwanJang Everytime. Jung Hae-in, one of the newest TV stars in Korea, is the new model for KGC's best-selling red ginseng product, CheongKwanJang Everytime.

Korea Ginseng Corporation (KGC) is stepping up marketing efforts for red ginseng products. The company has replaced the spokesmodel for “CheongKwanJang Everytime” with a new-generation figure and is diversifying cosmetics products loaded with red ginseng.

The most popular red ginseng product made by KGC is CheongKwanJang Everytime. Therefore, it is only natural that the company strategically selects promotional models for the product.

This product became the talk of the town and won huge popularity as famous Korean actor Song Jung-ki eats it in the smash-hit KBS television drama “Descendents of the Sun,” which gained immense popularity in Asia, particularly in China.

In the TV series, Song Jung-ki takes CheongKwanJang Everytime. After this scene was aired, Everytime became the best-selling item among CheongKwanJang products. To keep up the momentum, KGC recently selected Jung Hae-in as the new model for ChengKwanJang Everytime.

Jung Hae-in, New Model for CheongKwanJang Everytime

Jung is enjoying explosive popularity as he stars in the popular TV series, "Pretty Elder Woman Who Often Buys Me Meals." In this TV drama, Jung frequently eats Everytime Red Ginseng.

According to KGC, ChengKwanJang Everytime is winning popularity to such an extent that many tourists buy “Jung Hae-in Red Gingseng” at duty-free shops.

Red ginseng is popular as a gift for parents in Korea. The main customers of red ginseng are senior citizens. However, in recent years, young consumers also buy red ginseng as easy-to-eat products have become available. KGC explained that those in their 20s to 40s now account for half of red ginseng consumers.

Red ginseng is a super food that helps to maintain the balance of the body by enhancing immunity, removing fatigue and improving blood circulation. The product is recognized as a luxury health food not only in Korea but also in Asian countries and is loved by many consumers.

"Everytime is most popular among young people and company workers in Korea," a KGC official said. “Jung Hae-in’s bright and healthy image makes him a good fit for the product and will contribute to improving its sales.”
