She also strikes me as one who has performance anxiety. It’s harder to stay on top once you’re there - the pressure to remain top dog is intense, especially when she knows she is out of surprises and opponents can outsmart her moves if she does not keep improving. Harder with an injury

Yeah.  When you’re at the top of your game, the only way is down and it’s scary.  Thing is though, you can treat your opponent as a threat or as an opportunity for growth.  She’s only 18.  So it’s something she needs to learn.  Her coach seems to know how to get the best out of her charges.

Why did she let Hee Do think the worst about her regarding her dad's wedding ring if she didn't actually sell it? Or did she somehow get it back later on? Or did she withhold the truth from her daughter as a sort of punishment for herself since she didn't attend her husband's funeral??

Not sure what’s happening there.  But I get the feeling HD’s mom is guilty about something she did or didn’t do in the marriage relationship.  So she allows HD to continue to “hate” her as some sort of penance?  We accept the love we think we deserve (quote from Perks of being a Wallflower).  She doesn’t believe she deserves HD’s love, so she perpetuates the myth that she’s the distant uncaring parent.

I wonder if Yurim treats HD like that because of those sneakers and the incident

    from the past...

Probably a bit of both?  And the fear of being usurped as top dog.  And it happened when HD beat her in the practice combat.  I think she imploded when the effects of IMF hit her family.  Wasn’t she on some scholarship from YJ’s dad’s company?  So when the company folded, her funds dried up.  She probably didn’t have money any more for new sneakers.  Suddenly she felt exposed and vulnerable.  So instead of believing that it  was her talent and skill that got her to the top, she started to worry about her gear.   Doubt crept in and she lashed out at the people around her.  She saw HD as a threat instead of a competitor that would spur her on to greater heights.

Me too .  He’s such a good sport.  And energetic and positive.  I am looking forward to future eps.

Although I read that Moon Se Yoon tested positive for COVID.  So he may miss an ep or 2 of 2D1N filming and they will be down to 5 members again.

  5. @rocat that thought did occur to me.  They were both on the computer at the same time.  And their meeting seemed rather coincidental (where she needed to go to the toilet) and he was there to print something for an interview.  Or it could be a red herring.  .  Initially I thought InJeolMi was the Girl Class President.  She has a forthright character and problem solves on the fly.  Like when she worked out how YJ should shower at a different time so she can get to school on time.  Or that HD didn’t need to know where the Science Lab was because she was not going to be at classes much.  Or you could be right and it is YJ.  and he realizes that he was the one who gave HD the idea about “moving to YR’s world” and therefore realized that HD took it too literally when she showed up at the night club.

@Kathia I like that theory. .  I am wondering if the father of MJ is absent because YJ (ML) decided to pursue his dream of working with NASA and is therefore in the US.  It would be interesting if the daughter MJ ends up being the one to reunite them after reading HD’s diary.   Full circle.

    Other thoughts

    - PD has used brilliant colors in the times past to reflect the exuberance of youth.  Everything is so much brighter.  The reds and blues pop.  Present time is more muted.  Which reflects how age mellows us and we aren’t as vibrant.

    spacer.png

    - the tunnel scene at the end of Ep2.  HD dragged YJ through the tunnel.  Bringing him out of his world of gloom temporarily and into her happy world.
    - in a way I feel like YJ would’ve been “safer” in the army.  Where he is shielded from angry creditors and the fall out from his father’s company’s collapse.  But what seemed to be a “kindness” by the government to give him early discharge because “his family needs him more than his country” was actually detrimental.  It left him defenseless and open to those creditors and the responsibilities of bearing his father’s name.
    - I liked how the different approaches to problem solving are displayed in the characters.  YJ and HD sought to find solutions to their problems.  YR on the other hand (I think YJ’s dad used to sponsor her but with IMF and the company collapse, she lost all that funding), seemed more inclined to play the blame game and imploded.  Which is totally natural but hopefully she lifts in future eps and starts to find solutions to her slump.

  6. Laughed so much in Ep1. KTR is just the best.  Can’t believe how she can pull off being 18 but she had me totally convinced.  Ordinarily I would be cringing at her cheesy antics and all her hair brained attempts to get kicked out of school but I was laughing at her and completely in her corner.

    Notes

    - her chat room partner was InJeolMi and HD’s username was Ryder37 (her favourite character in the Full House comic).  Maybe this person will be the father of HD’s ballet daughter.  It did occur to me that InJeolMi could be YJ in disguise as well?
    - Also InJeolMi is a type of sticky rice cake.
    Cr - https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/injeolmi

    Quote

Injeolmi is rice cake made with sweet rice (glutinous rice). It’s one of the most popular and common Korean rice cakes and it’s made on special occasions and Festival days. The rice cake is chewy and sticky, so traditionally it was given to newly wedded couples to wish that they get along and ‘stick together’ forever. The bride’s mother also makes this rice cake for the groom’s family in the hopes that her daughter will get along with the  groom’s family.

When the newly wedded couple share the rice cake, they say, “let’s stick to each other forever, just like this injeolmi”

    - HD’s mom ripped out the page in the comic where the characters kissed?  I laughed when HD tried to draw a replica of the page and stuck it back on. .  Her mom ripping up the page is ominous and could be a foreshadowing that she will be the one to come between them?
    - HD was trying to “right the wrongs of her past”?  She was there to watch her daughter dance (with COVID rules!) where her mom failed to attend any of her fencing competitions.  Although given how her mom arranged to meet the coach and get her transferred anyway (behind her back), I get the feeling she may have been wrongly accused by HD in this respect?

    - her mom was NOT at her dad’s funeral and the lady coach was.  I wonder what the story was there?
    - not entirely sure I approve of the lady coach’s methods in testing HD.  The second test where she took her shoes seemed petty. Given the flashback later which revealed to us that she was already going to do it when HD’s mom swung by to talk to her.  Could there be some unresolved hurts/bitterness there?  And lady coach took it out on the offspring?  Punishing the child for the sins of the father(mother)?

    - HD and YJ’s meetings involved “fakes”.  The fake fountain of the Angel peeing .  This exchange was hilarious.  The fake identity in the night club to try to get herself arrested.  The fake page of the comic.  Could this be hinting that InJeolMi (chat room partner) is also YJ?

I think she captured the teen age in crisis condition well, Chang-San knew but simply couldn't voice it, I think she simply didn't see it til it all blew up in her face, and then only started to reconcile her own situational blindness as other crisis began to unfold - both losing parents as they watched - She initially seemed to think Chang-San loving her meant she lost him as a friend, only to find out (too late) that wasn't the case.

Yeah.  All of them grew up fast.  Nothing like an end of the world scenario to crystallize what’s really important.

I just wish they addressed the whole bullying issue properly.  It was buried with the fight for survival.  At the end of the day it mattered little whether you were playing fair or not. You could argue that you’re dead (both GN and CS) and you wouldn’t care if you had friends who remembered you fondly or not?  Even if they did it (addressed the bullying) by bringing the 2 halfies together for a do or die battle?  The girl who was bullied and GN the bully?  Instead they had GN and CS battle it out.  When CS bragged to SH in Ep1 saying,

If the world comes to an end with only OJ, me and a zombie left?  I’d go out with the zombie.”

I immediately thought, uh-oh, foreshadowing.  He’s probably going to die.  And sure enough, he went out (down the elevator shaft in flames) with a zombie/halfie (GN).  At least he died in a blaze of glory (pun intended  ).

This has the potential for a cult following and therefore multiple seasons.  Will see if I am in the mood for more macabre zombie gore when S2 rolls around.

  9. This moment in K2 will always be my favourite.  When JCW puts his hand on the small of YoonAh’s back and purrs, “Stand up straight.  Your enemies are watching.”  Shivers down my spine.  Him running in instinctively to rescue her.  The sprinklers…they needed it to cool it down.  And her voiceover with her breathy, “he’s a wolf. I will never be able to tame him.”  It was getting HOT in there.

It's funny that when the bully regained consciousness and was afraid of zombies but they didn't bite him 'cause he became one them

I got very annoyed that he kept resurrecting .  Is there some way of killing these hybrids?  Boy Archer even stabbed GwiNam on the neck with an arrow?  That killed the real zombies?  Some neck wound seemed to be the key to taking them down?  Yet GwiNam seemed unkillable.  Until the bomb hit.  And we assumed the bomb took care of him together with CheongSan?  Which leads me to my next question as to what happened to hybrid girl in the Quarantine camp?  Her isolation room was emptied and cleaned and we never saw her again.  Maybe she’s locked away somewhere?  Or did they “do away” with her (eg incinerated her)?  I guess there is enough there for S2.

Yes to Happiness vibes.  I liked Happiness because it wasn’t just a zombie apocalypse but it was used as a social commentary on the pandemic.  This drama started with bullying as the impetus for everything but it never seemed to give us a complete picture about what it was trying to convey about that.  It got lost in the whole survival of the fittest (or luckiest) scenario.  Still it was a thrilling ride to the end.  So I have no regrets watching it.

Or when Namra realized in the school gym that the zombies were ignoring her...But then it was never fully explored, I actually thought she would tell the kids that the zombies wouldn't hurt her (or be the one to stay behind to save them at the tennis court). She never truly showed her abilities to evade zombies nor save the others from them (except sensing their presence or having great hearing).

Yeah that stumped me too. Bully3 GwiNam was swanning around the grounds untouched but I didn’t understand why NR didn’t use this ability to save the others.  She could’ve diverted the zombies with loud noises elsewhere to allow the others to move to safety and then join them later.  It was odd.

I know On-Jo was bitten earlier by the girl who was bitten by the hamster. In fact, I think someone bandaged it up. How come On-Jo never showed any signs of turning?

Was she?  I thought she was but I think SH (BareSu) explained that she hurt her wrist backing away from the girl (hamster bite) who lunged at her.  That’s why I didn’t think much more about it.

But there are some background things that they didn’t cover.  Like how BareSu used to be part of the bully gang?  That was touched on when he first appeared and tried to rescue the girl and boy who were being picked on. I remember looking forward to working out why he left that group and became besties with CheongSan.  But they never did tell us.  I think there was probably a lot of material that was covered in the webtoon that never got screen time.  When I was watching the most recent BTS (see @rocher22’s link above, Solomon Park mentioned his past which was obviously something he was provided as part of his character description (and maybe he read the webtoon) but we never saw it on screen.  He said SH was living with his grandma? Did we ever see that?

    spacer.png

    spacer.png

So I think it would be nice if they did like a prequel to explain these things whilst still giving us the present events with NR as a hybrid.  Maybe flashbacks?  Like they mentioned Pink Cardie girl had some sad backstory which explained why she acted the way she did.  We didn’t get to see that so we’re judging her based on her selfish actions.    It would also mean they can bring CheongSan back in these flashbacks.  To give us context.

Eun Ji on the other hand, i was hoping to see a showdown between her and Gwi Nam.. since being the half zombie, they have the super strength.. too bad, they didn't even meet at all.. like why not?!?!

    @sadthe1st  me too.  Me too.

    Spoiler

Seemed a bit unfair to have him bounce back time after time.  Even after being stabbed in the neck with an arrow from Boy Archer.  If other zombies “died” like that, why not the hybrids?

Did we see how she got rescued?  We saw how Boy Loser on roof got rescued by chopper but what about her?  I did fast forward some bits so maybe I missed it.  She suddenly showed up in the quarantine camp and proceeded to feast on him. :expressionless:

About Nam Ra, I really wanted her character to be used better. She was the main person who got everyone saved as well. I low-key hoped that she would be the key to the cure here. She was such a good friend that she would light the fire almost everyday on the roof for her friends to see, or maybe to reminisce about the time she spent with her friends.

I liked her character best.  I guess they left it open for her to return in S2.  As the hybrid superhero to battle future zombies.  They never quite explained how it was you ended up being “immune” whilst others succumbed?

Their worst plan was maybe the one they pulled off in the gymnasium (or whatever hall it was). I agree.  I preferred foul mouthed girl’s plan of using the ball cages like a shark cage but then they would have to crawl because the cages weren’t that tall.

  14. Gah… I have given up writing notes ep by ep and just binged to the end.

    Final thoughts

    - I am not sure I want a S2.  I guess they left it open with the ending.  They all looked kinda shocked looking down into the sportsground(?) after NR leapt off the rooftop in Ep12.  Was that implying there were a lot of those who were like her?  Learnt to live with the virus?  Hence their open mouths and wide eyes as they looked down?  Because she (NR) certainly seemed to have reverted back to some form of normality and kept her “hunger” in check.  Much like “good” vampires who drink animal blood for instance.

    - I must say I had serious second lead/couple syndrome right through the drama.  Solomon Park is someone I will be watching in future.  He’s not just eye candy.  He gave me a convincing natural portrayal of his character.
    - Gopher Boy and OJ grew on me.  But I don’t think I cared if OJ made it in the end or not.    They were okay on the whole but honestly, they weren’t my favorites.
    - the drama did well to carry the whole thrill of the ride to the end.  After a while I just ignored the gruesome zombies.  I guess that’s what happens when you just keep hitting the audience with gore, it has a numbing effect and loses its impact.

    - I am not sure I would categorize this drama as one with any sort of higher meaning or message to impart.  Happiness set the bar quite high in those stakes.  It was more of a thriller and finding out who will be left standing at the end.

    - there were some WTH moments for me.  Like why the little girl seemed to be isolated from the Detective and the Police man in the facility.  She’s a minor?  It seemed horribly cruel to separate her from the people who provided her comfort in the most dire of circumstances?  I thought that was inhumane.   And of course why Bully3 seemed invincible?  Even when the Archer guy stabbed him in the neck with an arrow?  :expressionless:

    - I am guessing they moved Loser Girl (the one who bit Loser Boy at the quarantine facility) somewhere else?  They disinfected the rooms where they were held.
    - all in all I was glad to have watched it to the end.  I didn’t feel like I wasted my time doing it.

    Spoiler
    • BareSu rejoins the rest of the gang.  He had tried to get out through a window and was making his way across the outside window ledge when he happens upon a dangling Gopher Boy on the hose with a zombie hanging off his foot.  He succeeds in making a flying leap to the hose and promptly kicks off hanging zombie (Gopher Boy was unsuccessful in doing this) and both of them make it into the Broadcast room.
    • NR sees OJ grab the hand of BareSu. Is she jealous? .
    • Distraught student who I thought was pregnant really was pregnant.  She must be one of those who hide it well.  Wasn’t showing one bit. Anyway, she gives birth in a toilet block. .  She leaves the baby in the toilet stall.  What?  And proceeds to clean herself and then walks away.  Only to be nearly killed by an out of control Police car (like that’s just totally normal you know?).  Sees zombies spilling out of the car.  Handcuffed woman is full blown zombie and must’ve bitten police officers.  We all know that zombies can’t drive.  No wonder the car just lost control ya know?  Pedestrian man starts to film on his phone.  Handcuffed woman turns on him and starts to chase him. Distraught student comes to her senses.  She could’ve died ya know?  Realizes the sanctity of life.  Runs back to toilet block and picks up her newborn swaddling child.  Only to be met outside by handcuffed woman who proceeds to disembowel man who filmed her on his phone.  Guess that’s what you get for not asking permission first before filming.  Gore factor is increasing with episode count. :expressionless:
    • thanks to Pink cardie girl, Gopher’s friend GyeongSu turns.  She smeared zombie blood onto a cut on his hand. :expressionless:.  GyeongSu leaps out of the window and survives.  So zombies do survive after a fall.  Pink cardie girl is outed by smart NR who witnessed her devious plot.  Pink cardie girl casts herself out and heads outside the corridor where the zombies are.  Lady Teacher runs out to save her leaving the rest to work out their next move.
    • Distraught girl is bitten.  She leaves baby in a store bench seat as she tries to flee zombies.  She ties herself onto a door away from the baby before she turns.  And we hear the baby crying as she turns.
    • HyoSan city is being evacuated and cut off from the outside. Gopher boy’s mother is trying to get into the city to get to her boy. Last we see, she’s chased by a pack of zombies.
    • OJ’s dad is called into a Member of parliament’s office who had an aide turn.  One of the paramedics he is with is bitten.  Both aide and infected paramedic are secured onto seats.  OJ’s dad is trying to get help to them but comms looks to be swamped and he’s not getting through.
    • Bully3 is still alive.  He finds out that slashing the neck of a zombie kills it?  He’s stuck in the kitchen with a few zombies but he’s got a knife.
    • Ep ends with sounds of a chopper and lights shining through the Broadcast room window.

    Spoiler
    • YouTuber guy annoys me no end. More like a filler?  Anyway he heads into the epicenter HyoSan to film zombies.  Ends up in a preschool?  Little child monsters (zombies) attack him.
    • Gopher Boy’s mom makes it into the school.  Sees her son’s bestie in the school field.  Asks him where Gopher boy is?  Succumbs to bestie and other zombie extras who flock to feast on her
    • Students have survivor guilt after Lady Teacher exits with Pink Cardie girl.
    • They work out toileting in the Broadcast room.  Just like they did in the Assembly Woman’s office where OJ’s dad is.
    • Rooftop losers(lovers) have a fight.  They engage in more end of the world type talk.  Wishing the school would burn down zombie apocalypse or not.  Boy thinks girl actually wants to live in spite of all her talk about death.
    • Students work out toileting in the Broadcast room.  Just like they did in the Assembly Woman’s office where OJ’s dad is.
    • Bully3 has made it outside the cafeteria and ends up in the Principal’s Office which has a couple of zombies and a live Principal who somehow manages to avoid getting bitten by hiding under his desk.  Bully3 kills all the zombies with his knife - a slash to the neck is what’s required apparently.
    • Switch to Toilet block foursome of Lady Legolas and her male sidekick Vs smoker girl and her male sidekick.  The girls get on each other’s nerves and start to fight.  Boys pull them apart.
    • Sigma reveals his diabolical plan and blames the whole world for doing nothing about the bullying of his son.  Detective is incensed.  Police station is attacked by zombies. Just before Sigma gets bitten, he tells the Detective that he documented everything about the virus and kept it in the laptop at the school Science Lab.  Detective escapes.
    • Toilet block group decide that they need to head outside to save themselves because they didn’t think any help was coming to them.
    • Rooftop losers again. Boy reveals the video of the girl filmed without her top on will be uploaded to the internet by Bully3 (his phone) at 9am that day.  She freaks out.  And heads down the stairs to the Teachers Office to destroy the phone(s) before it can happen. Boy loser stays on rooftop. So much for liking her :expressionless:
    • Broadcast Room students decide they need to contact outside with a hand phone.  Gopher Boy and BareSu head out through the window ledge to sneak into the Teachers Office where the mobile phones are.
    • Loser girl gets set upon by zombies en route to Teachers Office.  But for some bizarre reason the zombies bite and then walk away from her?  She hasn’t turned?  Anomaly. She makes it into the Teachers Office.
    • Hero duo make it in there and see Loser girl smashing all the phones one by one.  She spies them and yells, “I’ll kill you!” She hasn’t turned?  But I guess she’s the same as them?  Wanting to kill everyone even if she’s NOT infected?  Duo gets separated.  Gopher Boy gets the phone. Runs out into the corridor. BareSu makes it back out the window from whence they came.
    • Bully3 is woken up by Principal who wants him to head outside and bring his car round so he can escape. Bully3 is incensed
    • OJ’s dad and his colleague get the Assembly Woman and her entourage onto the roof after battling zombies.  Where a chopper hovers.
    • Gopher Boy makes it into the Principal’s office where he tries to stop Bully3 from killing the Principal.  To no avail.  They tussle. Gopher Boy runs outside and Bully3 gives chase.  In a fit of rage he throws his knife which looks to wedge into Gopher Boy’s back as he is running.

    Thoughts

    • OJ is rather bland as a character.  I think it’s the actress.  I hear she’s playing the 3rd sister in Little Women with Nam JiHyun and Kim GoEun.  If so, yeah, she’s insipid like Amy.  Perfect.

    Spoiler

    • Class President (NR) likes BareSu.  She left a note for him in the Science Lab (where they were holed up until they had to leave because the zombies were breaking through the smashed windows from the corridors).  BareSu hung back to fend off the zombies whilst the rest made their way to the Science Lab.  NR left a post it note on the Science Lab wall that they were moving to the Broadcasting room just before they left.
    • OJ’s (I always think Orange Juice when I type this…but I digress) best friend (ISak) dies.  She got bitten as they made their way to the Science Lab.  OJ had to “let her go”.  Or more accurately, Gopher Boy helped force ISak off her as IS dangled precariously out the window.  OJ is guilt ridden as she reminisces good times with her bestie.
    • Gopher Boy uses a hose out through the window to get the survivors out from the Science Lab into the Broadcast Room below.  He was last to leave.  I have a bad feeling about him.  He’s always the last to leave.  Both he and BareSu.  I get the feeling they will sacrifice themselves for the sake of the others. :tears:
    • Bully3 is still alive.  He is trapped in the cafeteria kitchen.  Had no qualms shoving a female student (who was hiding there with him and one other male student) into the path of a zombie .
    • Distraught female student who asked to be excused from class in Ep1 is likely pregnant.  Her waters break (or at least that’s what it looked like) as she walks out of school.
    • Lady Teacher is in the Broadcast Room and the students join her after they use the hose rope.
    • Archery team returns to school from a comp?  Sees zombie mayhem and wonders WTH?  Lady Legolas saves Smoking Street Smart girl in toilet.  Some other dude is there with her as well.
    • Gopher Boy is last to leave on the hose/rope and ep ends with him being forced out the window with zombies flooding into the Science Lab.  With the footage shown at the end of Ep2, he must actually make a backflip somersault to be able to grab the hose/rope?  Whatever.

    Other thoughts

    • Pink cardigan girl student gets on my nerves.  Everything is all about her and her safety. She’s obviously petrified but she insists on taking it out on everyone around her…especially nasty to Gopher Boy’s sidekick GyeongSu (who is poor and on welfare).  If she gets bit and changes, there’s not much to change character wise, bar the splotchy make up.
    • plot is starting to feel really messy with all these added students in the mix.  And of course the apocalypse that’s happening outside the school as well?  At this rate, they need to get off the main island and to Jeju or something to escape for real.
    • Still haven’t worked out how to actually kill the zombies.  Or are they undead?  And therefore cannot be “killed”?   Is OJ’s friend ISak really dead?  She fell out the window a few floors.  Will she just get up?  We aren’t shown.  What about the zombie who was shot in the neck by Lady Legolas and had a broom handle shoved into her mouth?  Gory to the extreme.  .  Did she live to bite another?  Hmm… onto Ep3

I thought Cheong San would survive but they killed him off.  All the characters that I liked, in fact all the GOOD and NICE characters, all died in the end.

O no.  I did have a bad feeling he would end up dead.  Because he was always last to leave any danger, ensuring everyone else left before he did.  Gonna speed watch it now.  I honestly don’t know how they would wrap it up with just S1 because the zombies weren’t contained (unlike Happiness) and there was little lag time between infection and becoming a zombie.  Plus there didn’t seem to be any move towards a “cure”.

  18. @agenth  I have only watched Ep1 but this is my madcap…

    Spoiler

    - the red cross and the red swastika flag on the rooftop (in the rain - of course.  Is this a nod to Good Vs Evil?) as the bullies were taking it out on one lone student.  Who looks to have turned mid beatings?  He falls off the roof and is taken to the hospital

    - dad (hello there Sigma of Sisyphus fame!) of the boy who was bullied ends up using a Bible to try to kill (?) his own son in hospital (when he turned).  Puts a whole new spin on the word Bible bashing..  I am unimpressed.  Note - operative word is “try”.  These zombies appear to be invincible?

    - next scene we see dad wheeling luggage (with son’s body in it…err…how?  He was at a hospital and he walked in empty handed.  Not like he planned to kill his son?  But okay)…BUT surprise, son is NOT dead.  He is trying to break out of the luggage to the horror of his father and we’re saved by opening credits.

    - day time.  At school.  Model students cleaning the school - mopping, cleaning windows.  Camera pans through the school.  Just your run of the mill school day ya know?  Nothing to see here.  O wait…Male Teachers smoking outside right next to a no smoking poster on the wall .   Archery class  in the hall (show me the weapons!).  Choral practice.  Angelic voices…wait…Gregorian Chant as background music?  Stops panning and we meet one of the characters.  Lone Girl.  Sleeping on bench in Science lab.  She wakes up and then hears a noise in the store room.  Investigates.  Finds cute hamster in a Perspex container with holes in it.  Hamster turns just as she pokes her finger into one of the holes…bites her.  Man walks in… O it’s Sigma.  He’s a Science Teacher.  Who would’ve thought?   Girl curses that hamster bit her and tries to walk out…only to be grabbed by Sigma and dragged back into the classroom again .

    - scene change. We’re introduced to Gopher and his friend GyeongSu (boys). Gopher has a mother who’s opening a chicken restaurant.  2 girls (OnJo and I-Sak) stop them and insist on dining there.  Freeloading much? :expressionless:. Night.  They are eating at Gopher’s mum’s restaurant.  They talk about Mr Lee (Sigma) who smells like a rotting corpse.  Dead giveaway (pun intended).  They talk about how his son was bullied and is missing.  OnJo feels sorry for both of them.  Flashback to Sigma writing on the blackboard.  He seems to go into a trance and writes, “Toxoplasmosis…” and then runs out of the classroom as if he had a lightbulb moment.

    - scene change. Back at school. Warden (?) walks the empty hallway checking with torch.  We see girl bitten by hamster tied up.

    - scene change.  OnJo’s dad is a paramedic?  Has a gold belt proudly displayed in his home(an award of sorts).  Gopher just lives next door.  He comes round to walk to school with OnJo. We meet more students…one of whom is none other than Girl Twin from Hospital Playlist (her name here is NamRa).  She’s the class President.  And quite cleverly, PD has given us a social class differential amongst the motley bunch of students by showing us where they all come from as they head to school.  Some live in rich gated communities.  Others live in rentals.  Moral - zombies don’t care if you’re rich or poor.

    - Hold up.  Handsome hero dude (HHD) appears.  .  Ooo…eye candy.  Bullies from earlier on remain bullies… handsome hero dude crashes their party.   Wait…bully leader informs us that HHD used to be one of them but has obviously turned over a new leaf.  HHD tries to rescue a boy and girl student who are the subjects of the bullying but they decide not to take his advice and stay with the bullies.

    - Thanks to OnJo who has a crush on HHD (who wouldn’t?), we find out he has a name…it’s SuHyeok .  She tries to catch his eye but he obviously doesn’t feel the same way. :tears:. She stops him on the stairs and tells him to meet her on the rooftop after lunch.  HHD is kinda clueless.  :expressionless:. She’s hitting on you dude!  Takes his HHD status down a notch.  Or does it?

    - back in class. Lady Teacher arrives.  They all hand in their handphones to the teacher in a bag?  Wow…since when?  Teacher asks about HyeonJu who we find out is the girl bitten by the hamster.  Gotta hand it to the PD, the way he’s just seamlessly introduced all the characters is pretty good.  We find out that OnJo isn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.

    - Sigma is using benzodiazepines (err…how?  He’s not a doctor?) to sedate HyeonJu in the Science lab supply room and slowing her symptoms from developing.  In class he talks about viruses and parasites.  And the instinct to survive.  The virus survives because it’s desire to survive is greater than the host and therefore will control the host to perpetuate itself.  HJ breaks free from her zip ties in the Science Supply Room.  Other lady teacher teaches literature?  She says, “none of us are completely free from prejudice.  We all have preconceived ideas about others”.  One of the girls in the class doesn’t feel well and asks to go to the bathroom.  Uh-oh.  HHD has a nickname.  It’s Bare-Su.  Because he hates wearing socks. We find out that HHD isn’t err…academic. :expressionless:.  But wait…does that mean I am being prejudiced?  HyeonJu appears at the door (bloodied nose) and collapses before the class.  She’s lucid?  Anyway, she spills and tells lady teacher that Sigma tied her up in the lab.  Whole class overhears.  Lady teacher wants to take her to the infirmary.  HHD (brawn but no brains) offers to piggyback her.. OnJo and ISak help too.  As she bounces on his back, she makes to try to bite him?. But is unsuccessful.

    - at infirmary.  Girl who asked to be excused earlier is there.  She looks distraught…err.. don’t tell me she’s pregnant?  Anyway, motley crew bursts in with HJ.  Nurse takes her temperature and it’s 29.1C (way too low…she’s a corpse).  They try to hold her down.  Nurse wants to clean her wounds.  Tells lady teacher to call for an ambulance.  Distraught girl decides to walk out amid the chaos.  HJ mutters that Sigma tried to kill her and gave her an injection.  Then she says she will, “kill them all”.  Who’s “them”?   Sigma’s son said the same thing.

    - back in class. The gossip mill is churning.  HJ was amongst the bully group on the rooftop when Sigma’s son was beaten.  Girls surmise that Sigma is out to get revenge for his son.  Boys surmise that Sigma tied her up and made HJ film porn :expressionless:.  ISak returns and everyone mills around her. She tells them HJ has been trying to bite everyone around her.  OnJo was hurt. Gopher is all concerned and heads out to the infirmary.  He finds it’s empty.

    - HJ is on a stretcher and put in an ambulance.  Lady teacher and nurse are with her.  OJ’s dad bandages her wrist.  Did she get bitten or no?  Ambulance leaves. Lady teacher tells everyone not to speak about the incident to anyone (a bit late).  OJ walks back to class with BareSu.. Aww…he asked about her injury.  She’s ecstatic - omg he CARES . Looks like she didn’t get bitten but was injured backing off from a lunging HJ.  He asks her why she wanted to see him on the roof :expressionless:.  She hands him her name tag.  Penny drops for him.  Revelation for me (is that how the dating game works now? ).  “This means you want to go out with me?”  He looks shocked. “But you’re going out with CheongSan (Gopher boy)?”  She denies furiously and explains they grew up together and are just friends. Just friends Gopher boy shows up on cue and expresses concern for her bandaged wrist.  She stalks off in a huff (her moment ruined). BareSu clears things up with Gopher boy. “You’re going out with OJ aren’t you?” Gopher boy affirms it…then covers it up with a joke… ominous foreshadowing

“If the world comes to an end with only OJ, me and a zombie left?  I’d go out with the zombie.”. Sure Gopher boy, sure. Liar, liar pants on fire.

    - Sigma returns to supply room and finds HJ escaped. Lady Teacher comes in with another man (teacher?) and tells him HJ has been sent to the hospital.  Sigma is appalled and says she shouldn’t be there.  They take him to the principal’s office and he tries to tell them she needs to be quarantined and not put in a hospital.  Sigma accuses them over covering up what happened to his son.  Principal wants this all resolved internally.  Lady teacher says she’s already called the Police.  Just as Sigma is about to walk out the door, the Detectives appear.  O hello there zombie from Happiness SaeBom’s colleague.  . He greets Sigma with, “it’s been a while, Mr Lee ByeongChan”.  Aha…Sigma’s had a previous brush with the law.

    - back at infirmary.   Nurse is cleaning up mess. She’s been bit on her arm. She looks with horror at her gruesome wound which seems to have a life of its own.   She takes her own temperature. 31.5C. Hypothermic.  She starts the zombie dance.

    - school bell rings. Everyone heads out to lunch.  OJ tells IS that she likes BareSu. IS is aghast.  But…as in most high school crushes, BareSu has his eyes on nerdy Class President (HP girl twin) NamRa. Who (of course) is too fixated on studying to notice his puppy dog eyes.  His pick up line? “Earphones are bad for your hearing.” Original. Epic fail.  Tries another tact.  “Do you want to visit HJ at the hospital after school? You’re the class president.”  NR isn’t impressed. “I am only the class president because my mom donated to the school”. BareSu is undeterred.  She spoke to him!  They had…like…a real conversation ya know?  Ahh…young love.

    - Bully1 and 2 want to cut class. They find a single stiletto (why does the nurse wear such impractical shoes? :expressionless:) in the school corridor.  They spy the nurse (back facing them) is swaying in the infirmary so they start to film her.  She turns around and runs towards them.  They step aside and she hits the wall and falls over.  Never mind the fact that her face is bloodied and she looks rabid.  They continue filming and wonder, “what’s wrong with her?”  She lunges at Bully2 and proceeds to bite a chunk out of his cheek.  Whereupon Bully1 works out something’s not quite right, stops filming and tries to get her off his friend.  Bully2 starts to do the zombie dance (wow…he learns fast).  And then there were 2…at school.  He leaps into action and enters a classroom and proceeds to bite another student which sends the rest of the class into a mad panic.  And then bites yet another boy.  Camera pans outside and then moves up to the roof where a girl stands ready to jump.  She’s one of the victims of the bullies which BareSu tried to rescue remember?   Boy bully victim shows up and tries to convince her not to jump.  He admits to liking her.  Wow.  That isn’t enough to change her mind, she’s about to jump and she sees students catapulted through the windows (zombies biting victims) below her and decides not to jump after all.

    - BareSu dons hero mode again and rescues his crush NR from a ravenous zombie student.  NR is oblivious to everything around her (she has her earphones on and studying. What else?).  We see them running away together from a zombie.

    - back at cafeteria, IS is giving OJ gf counsel to ask Gopher boy if BareSu likes her or not.  Because they are like besties you know?  So OJ does. Gopher boy is stunned. Say what?  He’s miffed.  And staves off her question with a lame, “what would I know?  We’re not that close”.  OJ is just as annoyed.  “I thought you were my friend and would help me.”  Aww…poor Gopher boy.  Well…he did say with all that bravado that he would rather date a zombie. :expressionless:.  Payback.  And just as they are contemplating their world shattering love triangle quandary, the zombie apocalypse comes knocking.  Literally.  Students flood into the cafeteria in mad panic and the doors close on the zombie horde.  They eventually smash through the glass.  OJ falls as the students run past her.  She’s petrified and can’t move.  Unnamed student boy zombie runs towards her, pins her down, exhales on her with his disgusting zombie breath…and… Credits roll.

Little Women" will revolve around three sisters who grew up in poverty but has a close bond. They will be involved in a major incident against the most influential family in Korea. The drama will reportedly have a total of 16 episodes which will air this year.

But the interview with the writer at Tatler  says this?

    Spoiler

Do you find a difference when you write the script for movies and for dramas?

For TV dramas, it always feels unbelievable because there’s only one person writing a whole drama. But I’m still working as a screenwriter and Little Women has maybe 12 episodes. It’s very long compared to making movies.

I guess she may have decided to lengthen it to 16.  Although I don’t mind the punchy 12eps (like Happiness).  It’s nice and concise.

Wait so there’s a season two for this drama?

I get the feeling it’s not really S2.  It’s just your usual 16eps but because of the Winter Olympics MBC are unsure as to whether they will air Ep9-16 (and therefore give those first 8eps the name S1?).  At the moment it looks like they are airing it on MBC and Wavve?  But once the Winter Olympics starts it will just air on Wavve.  I don’t know if it means they will drop all remaining 8eps at the same time or if they will just continue airing it weekly.  It’s confusing to name it S2 (on Wavve) because it didn’t sound like they were going to make this a seasonal drama.  Whatever.  I guess they decided that this was how they were going to promote it moving forward.

MBC drama Tracer and SBS drama ThroughTheDarkness will cancel broadcast for three weeks since Feb 4 due to Beijing Winter Olympics.

Maybe this will give subbers time to catch up.  Still waiting for Ep2 to be subbed properly.  Can’t blame the subbers because they are doing it voluntarily.

Thank you so much for the link. I had trouble understanding within the first few minutes of the first episode so I was not satisfied at all :(

Here’s my very obtuse version of Ep1 (I struggled too because everything was happening so fast and new people were being thrown into the drama left right centre).

    - SiWan’s (DongJu) dad was a whistleblower at his company PQ.  They were obviously doing dodgy underhanded stuff to avoid paying taxes etc.  He tried to bring this to light. They won in the court case against him (not sure how but they are powerful) and he ended up in prison for 8years.

    - DJ was a teen then.  His mother was sick and probably passed away whilst his dad was in prison.  He ended up in various orphanages as a result.  He did study hard and made something of himself.  He blamed his father for taking up a fight against a big corporation despite his chances of winning being minimal.  As a result, it impacted the future of their family.  He couldn’t understand why his father couldn’t just let all the discrepancies and “creative accounting” slide.

    - As an adult, he was an ace accountant at a company that helped these large corporations dodge tax.  That’s why he had that angry exchange with his dad at the restaurant telling him that he (DJ) was “helping” companies like PQ do the very thing his dad was trying to fight.

    - The opening scene at the car accident site.  DJ was plagued with guilt.  He reminisced about his past treatment of his dad.  He realized that even though he thought his dad was crazy to take on a big company like that (knowing full well it was a fight he couldn’t win), and he hated the fact that he suffered because of his dad’s quest for justice, he felt guilty that he let his dad die alone.
    - what Go AhSung’s character explained at the funeral was that his dad was conducting a tax audit on PQ.  They were trying to find something to incriminate PQ.  His dad’s death was probably the result of him probing too deep into their affairs.  This was confirmed by the contents in the box of his dad’s belongings passed onto DJ.  The man asked if DJ knew who his father was meeting that night (of the accident).  What was strange was that the contents of the folder of PQ were missing.  The cover was still there but all the contents of the folder was gone.  The man said his dad wrote all the records of the lobby groups of PQ in there.  He said it was an item that many people wanted to get their hands on.  The biggest question in DJ’s mind was why his father had this with him that night (of his death)?  Who was he meeting to pass the information to?

    - DJ meets with his Prosecutor friend and gives him insider info from the company he is working for.  His friend was suspicious and asked him why he would be committing career suicide like this.  DJ said he knew his friend was trying to prosecute PQ for embezzlement.  He provided info about his accounting firm doctoring the books for 13 other companies.  His friend warned him that DJ would be breaching confidentiality agreements with his employer and his licence as a CPA would be revoked.   But DJ said that he had kept all the big insurance companies fraudulent activities out of it and only given him smaller company frauds.
    - He quits the accounting firm the next day.  Just as his friend passes him in the hallway moving into investigate the firm.   He joins the National Tax Department.  He gets posted to the NamJoo branch and investigates the baseball player.   We later find out that it was because he needed to get into the good books of the Director there (she was present at his dad’s crime scene) and was one of the 2 people he thought looked guilty/upset at the death of his father.  He needed her help to rise up the ranks to get into the HQ.  It looks like he stayed working there with her for 4years before he moved to Div5 of JoonGang Regional Office where he became Team Leader 1.

    - we get introduced to the main players in the HQ. (Too many pics so I put it in a google doc.  Helps me remember who’s who and where they fit)
