I can shut my brain off and just enjoy this drama for the most part. I do find it really odd that the child randomly appears as if the stork just dropped her off a little late. After the first episode no one seems concerned about it. They just accept that she will live with them. We have no backstory or clues....No one asked her about her past, no DNA test, or so far the police don't seem to be involved. It's kinda weird. She's not a stray cat.

I love this couple. It is so refreshing to see a kdrama couple mutually transparent and open, working together and honoring one another feelings.
I wish we would see it more often.- 17

I am not ready for this to end! It is rare for a drama to it on my rewatch list...I'm hoping we will see the leads cast together again in the future. I just love them.
Thanks
If anyone can DM on a working streaming link I would appreciate it. My usual place isn't working any longer.
Otherwise thank you to all of those who post here..... I sincerely appreciate the moment by moment updates! I'll be waiting for them with a glass of red wine in hand for each one! Cheers!

I have this thought that maybe RG will see himself inside one of the bubbles in a painting still to be found.
It would give him a concrete sense that his mother always loved him.

I've been to the grounds of the Soma Art Museum (where this was filmed) several times over the last week. It is hard not to let the imagination run wild when you walk through these walls.... ahhhhhh... this maybe a long term problem.

This is a story in the Korean Daily about how people are displeased with the ending. There is now a public outcry for a 2nd season. I used google translate to sort through it but if someone is game to translate feel free...

In the original, at least the story I grew up with, I believe the monkey and the monk are rewarded with Buddhahood. Everyone gets some kind of heavenly position. Definitely a happier ending in comparison to this drama.
In this adaptation, SJ doesn't even really get rewarded If she becomes immortal and gets out of the underworld, it's because of OG, not because heaven recognizes what she did.
Thank you ... I was looking at wikipedia.
"chapter 100, the last of all, quickly describes the return journey to the Tang Empire, and the aftermath in which each traveller receives a reward in the form of posts in the bureaucracy of the heavens. Sun Wukong (Monkey) and Tang Sanzang (monk) achieve Buddhahood, Sha Wujing (Sandy) becomes an arhat (worthy of nirvana), the dragon horse is made a nāga, and Zhu Bajie (Pig), whose good deeds have always been tempered by his greed, is promoted to an altar cleanser (i.e. eater of excess offerings at altars)."
This ending really did take a different direction...Ugh...why the "sad love" theme. Goblin was the same, not only a sad love but the God's seem to behave no different the as devil...Playing tricks, manipulating, controling, handing out harsh punishments for extremely long periods of time, and an unfair balance of justice....
My understanding of the buddhist "underworld" in China is no playground, 18 level maze of torturous hell.
I wonder if it is the same when it comes to Korea.- 2

It's not the ending I wanted but I am curious... How does the Korean audience feel about the conclusion of EP 20?? Since the script is an adaptation of the classic 400 year old novel Journey Into West. There has to be a preset expectation on the ending for the general audience who already know the original well.
How did it conclude...was the completely open? Did they meet again?
As a westerner... I need an example so I can relate to how on the expectations I would have if someone changed a 500 year old work like....Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet. In those dramas/plays I would expect a tragic ending where everyone of importance dies, no matter the adaptation. If a writer changed the ending to a happy one, it would undoubtedly suprise or even shock me a bit...Changing the ending of the story, would change the entire story as a whole.
I have to ask myself... Is my frustration with the Hong sisters a bit unreasonable. If I had a cultural and historical exposure to the story growing up in Asia instead of the west, would I see the ending with different eyes?- 4

In the future...I won't watch another Hong Sister dramas until it's completed. It's to much time to invest in a drama that leaves me wondering what the point was... Goblin was the same.

Ahh so I think sog's ggg can be taken off the moment he no longer wants to take it off because he is already in love. The moment he stopped trying to take it off he was in love. I thought as much since at the being he couldn't go against but should define and resistance to the power of the ggg. but for while not he has not.
I agree. The 2nd GGG didn't stick on SM's head because she is already naturally obedient servant dog. It makes total sense that OG will be able to remove it now on his own, now that his heart is already completely in with love for SJ.

Has anyone touched on the topic of the white crane/heron seen by the "little brother" when he was talking out loud to himself about bringing OG breakfast, it was while OG and SM were talking in his room....
White cranes/ storks/ herons have several meanings, this is just a few...
Longevity (they were believed to live 1000 years), good fortune, wisdom, they carry the dead souls to higher enlightenment, springtime/rebirth...they also mate for life so they are a symbol of fidelity.
In christianity which I know this lore doesn't center on but I find interesting....they are symbolic of cleansing the world of the devil's influence.Also....Ratings bounced up a little today:

Sorry this is my first Korean drama. I didn't know they have so many product placements. Lol
TVN dramas are usually pretty saturated with product placement.

Don't worry about the rating
they have olympic+lunar new year
lots of dramas ratings went down too
like MGL which usually score s40%++ only score 31
Misty scored an effing 7.1 hahahahhaa
There are a few different rating systems that do the counting in Korea.
I was commenting based on the following post....
"On February 16, despite being only five episodes into the show, “Misty” managed to score an average viewership of 5.4 percent, its highest rating yet. The previous two episodes of “Misty” recorded ratings of 3.9 and 4.8 percent respectively, indicating that the drama’s viewership appears to be on the rise. " - https://www.soompi.com/2018/02/17/misty-achieves-highest-ratings-yet/
I see it was reported today to be 7.081% nationwide.- 3

Reminder....People in Korea have been celebrating the Lunar New Year for 3 days, this year it's Feb 15 - Feb 17.
Since they often travel to their hometowns to visit family... They are less likely to watch TV.- 9

The ending was adorable! Everyone who should have had a good ending got one, those who shouldn't didn't.
The military service made sense under the circumstances, I would have liked to have seen them in the future with a family.
Overall I am satisfied!
Thank you to everyone who shared updates, translated scenes and insights. I love watching dramas, but the soompi community makes the experience 100 times more enjoyable.- 13
