  1. I tried. I really tried. I wanted to like this but the writing is...meh in my opinion. Her being a secret child assasin and the monkey having the brain chop was like okay this ain’t no regular makjang which I would love if i didn’t know they use those nonsense plot points to get away with more nonsense split points. I skipped a couple episodes hoping it gets better in The most recent ones...no..just a lot of angst in pretty camera filters and lighting with more nonsensical plot twists...

I so wanted Jun Ho to meet WYW's dad... I think it's my only regret about the finale.

I completely agree. Iwas waiting so much for this scene! And honestly...what do you guys think about YW staying at hanbada? Now that I had some time to process the show and let the finale sink in I realized I also didn’t like that she stayed there. I had been hoping she and the team would work for the social justice lawyer lady or their team leaders own firm.

Similar to you, I am not convinced the romance can push through.   Junho comes across just as a polite person, I don't seem to be able to get a deeper side of him...hence I feel everything is pretty surface as of now...and I can't feel the longevity of the relationship.  Junho, as a character, has not much depth in this drama which is likely a point of failure of the romance for me.  He is just portrayed as a Mr Nice Guy.   I was thinking from the POV of WYW's father.    I also dislike the cat analogy.....it does not align well.

I can totally see that. I was waiting for them to go into his past about working with the disabled and him explaining why he chose to volunteer there. As well as why he wanted to work in law. I kind of understood the cat analogy as someone that owns a dog and interacted with cats before. Of course no one in a relationship wants to refer or be referred to a pet. But the thing is, the psychology/behavior of cats is not that different from YW.  She will be affectionate and give you attention when she is in the mood-but when she has one of her epiphanies or is busy doing her own thing, then she’s in her own little world like cats do. Just because my dog needs constant attention affection visa versa doesn’t mean he loves me more than a cat would. It’s just how they are in their nature and I respect that (but prefer my dog LOL). I hope this helps a little in outt8ng things 8n perspective.

Overall, it was underwhelming ending... but it was okay i guess...

    until the next drama people..

I think what would have made this drama better would have been a better fleshed out plot tying the cases better together and not so episodic. Like the way they did the brothers case was good, the final episode didn’t have its obligatory case intro since it continued from same case, and yes other episodes has two parts of a case too. But I felt like a lot of time was wasted on cases that frankly didn’t have a lot of impact to the finale like they could have if they were all tied together. Like, yes briefly mention the cases she does that may not be related to the plot but shows she’s working with all sorts of stuff, and keep the messages and food for thought you had through each case, but this show is too good and has so much more potential than treating it episodic with its new case at the beginning of each episode.

I would have liked to see at least one scene of JH and papa woo meeting. As well as so much more. I don’t know if we will even have that possibility in season 2 because I heard the actor is going to the military?

I know right?  This pairing is unreal because they have opposite set of values and beliefs, (a) how to engage? (b) how to last?  Posting anonymously in the internet cafe  was such a shady act plus SY was the one who told YW he was tactician KMW.  I know someone like this who used to share with us proudly all his tactics of shirking his responsibilities and we thought it was immaturity but many years later..still the same!!! :crazymad:

Also he was so condescending to her because her dad is a judge, he didn’t seem like he was complimenting her by calling her ‘princess’. It’s one to have no ‘privilege’ but another to use it to act like a victim and belittle others because ‘you had it harder than others’ and thus justify your unethical actions

Ep 13 and 14 were the first episodes I didn't thoroughly enjoy. Even found myself FFing a lot of ep 14. :brokenheart:

    Poor Attorney Jung :criesariver:

    I also didn't like:

    • The forced love line between Kwon Min Woo and Choi Su Yeon
    • I did expect the Hanbada CEO to have an ulterior agenda, but it still felt disappointing to see her this evil
    • The communication breakdown between Young Woo and Jun Ho. She should have been honest with him why she wanted to break up. Him ending up blaming himself for the breakup wasn't a cool thing to do.
It was quite expected that they would hit a bump on the road, but I was disappointed about the communication
    • The story became repetitive, and I REALLY hope that they don't angle for a season 2. I feel like the show has run its course.... :grimace:

Le sigh. We've only got 2 more episodes to go. Hopefully they will be able to tie all loose ends together next week.

Thank you. I had the exact same thoughts. If this happened way earlier in the show maybe u would be less disapointed and frustrated. But my one who’s an avid kdrama viewer knows the plot for,ull usually has a breakup trope in the last episodes and even an obligatory time skip before they get back together (which hasn’t happened...yet?). This show was doing so well throwing tropes over its head. Until now. Also spring sunshine DOES NIT deserve tactician MW! It’s too late I. The show for a redemption arc and even if he had one he still does not deserve Spring sunshine.

She is autistic so all social and personal niceties have to be taught. Just like her advisor had to teach her to comment on the interior design or say freaking delicious.  Or saying that Jung may die of 3rd degree stomach cancer :pensive:.

JH will put two and two together in one of her outbursts.

this has me wondering what it would have been like if YW had a therapist through the entire show. Would having had professional support helped her maintain her relationship? Would she be closer to her loved ones and better at communication if she frequently visited a specialist doctor (NOT in Boston thank you very much....Kill Me Heal me was over a decade ago and had a psychologist that worked with someone with multi personality disorder. There is no Korean doctor in this modern day set in show that has autistic patients? Not one she can go to even now with her income and (health insurance comes with lawyer job right?)

And I don't know why I kept watching this trainwreck tbh LoL. Maybe for the fashion faux pas? The laughs? Kang's constipated looks? It has been fun y'all. Until the next one adios~

Same here chingu. At first I think what made me stay was that when I first really wanted to drop it, I was past more than half way of the drama. Call it sunken cost fallacy, or refusal to admit I had already wasted so much time so far, I decided to keep going. Then it was curiosity. How will they tie everything up...but as you said it was a crapastic ending. First off, the summary needs to be changed. The divorce lawsuit barely had any screen time or effect on the ending. What frustrated me was they had all these sideplots that were never addressed-KYG never finding out about dr love affair, DB and BR never mentioned nor her father, DBs big sister only mentioned and never shown(so why was she in the story in the first place?!), the explanation why the Madam Jung that worked for KYG was killed or his ‘first love’ before the marriage(again, if these never matter in future eps, why did they get brought up in the first place?! That’s a plot hole writernim!), the incident 5 years ago-so that was LRLs mom that caused the rift in marriage? But weren’t they married a couple years before that? So how did it seem like from the news on tv to her suddenly at their place like no years passed in between-something else happened 5 years ago and they never went into it. HPRs dogs...they kept showing them but never once did they play a part in the revenge or climax or really anything to the plot.

attention if seeking revenge recommendations wit( a REAL femme fatal lead, watch:

    -Tazza

    -Flames of Desire

    -Apgujeong midnight sun

    -Saki (japanese)

-Fallen a leaf (thai)-lead very similiar to this one; does self harm and suicidal but driven by absolute revenge

anddd unfortunately that’s all I have and shows why I was initially excited for this show. It is so rare for a kdrama or really any shows in general universally to have a femme fatal lead. But this will not be on my rewatch list like the ones above are because it was too chaotic and nonsensical at times.

My thoughts on ep 7.  I love the innocence of Junho's and WYW's relationship.   It's just so sweet. I don't know if Min woo is the anonymous poster only because it seems too easy to blame him.  But then again, who else knows about the circumstances surrounding WYW's employment? I suspect Min woo will redeem himself at the end.  Junho is his friend, so he must have some good qualities, right?

Wasn’t that him in the Internet cafe at the end of episode 7?

I'm distracted by the overuse of filters on the lead actors' face... It's so unnatural, and at this point it gives the story a supernatural feel, without the special effects... :)

I'm also struggling to stay engaged right now...

I keep hearing this but does anyone have a side by side of the filter vs unfiltered actors face? I think I have seen the filtered so much I can’t even notice or tell there’s a filter.

NO they deserve life imprisonment, living in poverty but still free from the hands of the law, they can still harm and do much damage to anyone. So Ra to prison or the mental hospital of the criminally insane, as for daddy Han, the prison or the dogs might just come looking for him. Kim, his other leg broken, he will be a crawling bug in prison.

I wrote right after that then they would go to jail. I meant that rather than just seeing a quick demise like them living it good and then suddenly going to jail wouldn’t be as gratifying if like while LRL was collecting the evidence or right before she’s taking it to trial they loose their house and are living in absolute poverty and then-it gets worse. They go to mental hospital and jail. I don’t want to see just one bad thing happen to them, I want to see a lot because it’s usually more than just one event that started the revenge. So if it takes more than one event for the lead to get revenge, why can’t the revenge be more than one event? I hope that makes sense. You had amazing points about how LRL could have handled the evidence from the vault with justifying he already knew her real name. Can you be a writer for this show plz?

Now have to drop this drama because of its crappy ending. At least the Penthouse ending made sense (I don't care what you say, it did make sense that Soo-Ryun offed herself after everything that happened. And yes, I wanted Yoon-Hee to come back eventually.)

This is the 2nd weekly drama I've dropped due to the ending.

I shall not write my Review or Recap on Ep 15 today.  I need to sleep over it.  Will do so tomorrow.

For me, it is quite Disappointing.  The way the Plot is heading.  The Script-writer is Not Creative and Original enough.

But I must say one thing:

Han So Ra looks like a Witch in Ep 15.  And frankly, I'm Bored Stiff with her Crazy Antics: those screaming and growling at people.

Ra-EL in her Straight Hair and Pale Face, looks like a Japanese Female Ghost - at times.  Not all the time though.  For some time now, I notice she does not have a pair of nice hands.  Some actresses have very nice hands.  But hers are "wrinkled".

It is difficult to Predict how the Story will end.  Who will be Sacrificed.  But if I have to take a Bet, I will go for a Happy Ending.

I agree. I give it to the writer that at least we got to see the enemies get it a little bit the beginning of the show unlike most revenge dramas that wait till last minute for the revenge to happen. But then this also kind of happening with this show too. We didn’t actually see any justice happen till the last two episodes and even that doesn’t feel natural. It felt cheesy what they did with HPRs character and HSR. Honestly I would have loved to see HPR and HSR go broke and see them living in absolute poverty in the last couple of episodes. Then see HPR in jail and HSR in an insane asylum. Chingu I think those are veins on her hands not wrinkles. But I agree along with the questionable writing, the make up has been very unflattering. Many complain about the eyebrow color and lip color choice. I at first didn’t notice because SYJ is so gorgeous that I guess she can pull off anything, even horrible make up and jewelry choices (ahem motorcycle chain) and wardrobe choices..(weird British hats and dresses were talking about you). I still can’t take any of her close up scenes seriously because for me it’s the upper eyelashes that bother me. I don’t know. I feel bad complaining so much but I can’t hide my utter disappointment of the show. I still find myself cringing or rolling my eyes at certain scenes, especially the ones between CEO and LRE.

  11. I was initially distracted by JYs death that I didn’t process the reveal about SY and CTG. It’s also probably because it seems so uncharacteristic for CTG to allow a murder to happen at his law firm and let it end up on the news, getting bad press and having investigators on his turf. You’re telling me an experienced murderer like himself (even if he’s usually giving orders and not getting his actual hands dirty) would do that?

There were moments of Brilliance.  But they have been escliped by an overwhelming amount of Mediocrity

I agree. My favorite scenes were:

-KYG seeing LRL make love to her ‘husband’ in the first ep (never seen a kdrama do that before so I’ll give them that)

-LRL revealing her identity to SR at the birthday party

-the bathtub scenes at house of roses, it should be it’s own character, I want one of my own. It’s luxurious!

-motorcycle chain scene, just for the memes and how it got its name after from here hehe

-I agree with you, LYW getting car crashed by SR was soo suspenseful

Man I want to have a longer list but sadly those are really the only ones I can think of.

  13. Spoiler

It wasn’t a bad show. Just bummed we never got a single kiss or intimate scene between the endgame couple. The show itself was mature and had very sensual scenes with side characters, so the vibe was there, but I dunno maybe the actress just not into that. I saw her in tomorrow, which she did great but despite her characters in both shows vastly different, she seemed like she had the same expressions and body languages like the other show. Not much variation like actress in attorney woo or Eve. Just like tomorrow, it also had no kiss scenes with her love interest. I still love the actress and give props to the show though overall.

@FavSong_JKWLsame chingu! Crazy coincidence we made a post at same time when thread was dead right before. Will there be a season 2?

I think what kept me from adding this show to a rewatch list is the feud between two women. I see it in Eve, I see it in most revenge dramas and I’m kinda sick of it, at least why her has character getting revenge on the corrupt bad guys. Maybe if the enemies were SJs dad and congressman SP I would have enjoyed the fights more than seeing two women go after each other along with the rest also backstabbing each other or in competition for a man. I’m sick of plot lines like that. Even male leads doing it. Why make love rivals friends if they gonna like the same person...it’s not entertaining to watch unless they mature enough. They somehow can still be friends and respect their mutual crush somehow. Honestly just make another love interest or second lead so that we can see characters be bestie with someone and rivals with someone separate. It’s yuck when it someone they were friends with

Normally, when giving birth, the baby would be given to the mother at the delivery room  but for them to claim that the baby died during birth, seemed far fetched, didnt he baby screamed at that point... but perhaps Soo Jae was already angry and bitter with Juwan's betrayal that she didnt really care if the baby  die back then (the fact that she had to go though the pregnancy and delivery alone and to find that Juwan married someone else)...

Ive read that people disliked the idea that Gong Chan's relationship with Soo Jae at this moment (thinking ahead) - if being stepfather to the daughter of someone who killed his step sister and caused his family breakup... can Gong Chan forget it all? Really.... he is a nice boy and all can he really... hmm...

Soo jae shouldnt even panic when her daughter is taken; im sure the grandfather wouldnt want to harm her...

Also good for nothing Juwan, why the father defend him so much despite his flaws.. sigh... him being so brutal and yet his eldest son being a failure in many things, still he defends him...

I wonder what they could find in that old house...

If he isn’t lying and the baby is really hers, then I think what happened was that since she was all alone when giving birth, no family or friends to watch over her and the baby, that maybe the sheet they have over the mom when she’s giving birth covered up the switch. They switched her baby with a still born. But like you said then How did they hide the fact the baby would be crying if it really were alive then? There’s still plot holes even in that scenario. Same with if the baby is really ES’s like I see some theorizing. If doctors analyzed her and saw sexual assault, wouldn’t they notice post birth as well?

  15. RIP JMH. Wasnt expecting her to die. This episodes pace made it hit me we really are close to the end. The climax felt like it was starting to happen when she walked out as LRL the car with all the reporters and ran over Vicechairmans leg. The kneeling begging forgiveness scene was really well done, was not expecting that either. The dialogue felt creative and unique. I really have to give props to SYJ and her talented acting skills. I was observing her and her character truly feels like it’s whole other person compared to the one in IONTBK. Their fashion style and dark back story was similar and yet they feel like two distinct people. She really is a queen and I hope she continues to get more roles.

but here’s the thing..can I really be surprised? Statistics in domestic abuse households show that victims can end up becoming abusers too. The fact he was abused by his dad increases his chances of becoming an abuser himself..SR has already shown to be a carbon copy of her father in her antics. But KYG has never been violent till now. Funny it took REs betrayal to bring that out vs SRs abhorrent behavior over the years. SR seems like she’s never had KYG put her hands on her like that. If she knew that about him maybe she wouldn’t have been as involved till now trying to sabotage their relationship and would have taken a step back to let KYG do that with his abuse.

Thiugh I can’t name the drama from the top of my head, there are some revenge dramas I’ve seen where when the main lead (usually male) seduces their target related to the revenge, pdnims put out a narrative where we feel pity and sympathy for the target, because of their obliviousness being used for revenge and loving the ‘enemy.’ But then the audience flips completely when the character does too after finding out-turning out to be a worse person than the lead out for revenge, because they are more danger, murderous, and evil than the lead who may have used such means for revenge, but has more justice and ‘moral highground’ than their ex love interest victim-turned into sociopath.

I will never forget this Hong Kong drama I watched-Black Heart White Soul. The main female lead is a not so goody two shoes that’s even been in jail. Meanwhile the male lead is a handicapped lawyer thus advocating for the ‘law’ and seeming morally ‘better’ than the female lead. Being in a wheel chair also added to this image where he just seemed..approachable? Vulnerable? Not pitiful, just personally I could never conceive someone handicap to be an evil person or commit a crime. Well

    Spoiler

Turns out the lawyer is out for revenge to the one who crippled him and uses the female lead as a tool for his plot, falling in love with her at the same time. But his ‘love’ never helps him falter or treat the FL any better much like LRE who does her best not to be swayed in her plan despite her feelings for KYG..till now she’s always stayed ON the path of her goal for retribution of her parents demise. This male lead also wiretapped the hime he lived in with the female lead..again much like LRL. To be honest though..maybe because it was a femme fatal doing this I didn’t get the same ‘ick, creepo’ vibe I got at the reveal of the ML’s un consensual spying. Also the FL in this drama was actually a good person till the end despite their criminal past..

Thinking about all the awful things LRL did to KYG(investigating him, seducing him, wiretapping him etc) I can see his side for his reaction or how these could have drove him ‘insane.’ But that reaction didn’t have to include physically hurting her...that was just..evidence that the bridge is burned of any possibility of these ‘twin flames’ being end game.

And I had questions like some pointed out about how OG Anna didn’t mention YM stealing from the cash register or SW the former employee didn’t mention to her about stealing the money and such.
