    @philosophie

    1) Han Pan Ro is a Man Beyond Redemption.  He sees himself as God.  Everybody else is just "A Puppet" for him to play around.  I'm  sure his Hounds will turn on him one day.  Because he has trained them to be so Ferocious and Cruel like him.

    2) Predictions & Theories: Yes.  A bit difficult.

    3) Bugged Devices:  I'm surprised that a Smart Man like Kang Yoon Gyeom has not place Cameras in his Study and Secret Room.  Or has Ra EL's background checked.  A lot of obvious "Loop-Holes" in this drama.

    4) Marriage Rules:  Is Ra EL so "Desirable" that a Man will agree to her Rules?

    - For one, she is supposed to be Aneroxic in this drama.  Too thin. (I'm Not "Body-Shaming" her.  But it is a fact)

    - Two.  You think Men can Control themselves where such urges are concerned.  I did "Wonder" about Ra El's husband Ex-Wife.  How come she never keep-in-touch with her daughter.  And why her daughter is so buddy-buddy with Ra EL.  But I let it pass.

Chingu you are so right! I briefly thought about why isn’t KYG doin a Background check on LRL when SEP was doing on but then forgot to mention it. for 4) I will say I guess she is, because as she recites ‘ruler number one: you don’t touch me unless I touch you first’ or something-he obeys it with no protests, and the scene of BRs dad telling KYG and SR how strict she was about skinship (probably meaning they didn’t kiss or consummate till marriage)(hubby gonna be real mad when he finds out she didn’t do the same with KYG hehe). However one wonders...will hubby forever obey her rules or will there be a time he doesn’t?

  2. Great discussion questions. I didn’t notice the rumor was about a daughter of a politician, this changes things a lot. Maybe it is LRL or her mother or it’s even KYG himself, using his secrets and scandal to free himself from HPrs claws. Sidenote, wasn’t it disgusting how HPR told his daughter to have a ‘handle’ on her husband? That’s your first reaction to finding out your daughter was cheated on? You sure got your priorities straight brother, but makes sense what else should I expect from a dog abuser owner (bet those dogs wouldn’t be as killer or violent if he weren’t their owner jusss sayin).

To be honest, I want to put more effort into imagining predictions and theories, but part of me hesitates due to the mere fact of how unstable our female lead is. And how much writers use convenience for their own agenda(LRL getting caught by KYG self harming herself or them bumping into each other in Argentina).

are we gonna talk about her home tho? So it’s bugged? Or is that video screen office she’s in that she was conveniently reading her medical records in footage of KYGs home with bugged devices? What’s going on with that? Probably not his house since they’re the royalty of putting GPS on a loved one and finding out you’re being tracked by a loved one.

hey here’s a fun question for you guys. LRL tells her husband not to touch her after reciting ‘marriage rule number 1’. So they actually have an arrangement of some sort. What do you guys think are all the rules? And what do you guys think is the situation with BRs bio mom/LRL husbands ex wife?

@sadthe1st   The 2 Female Gossipers said  So Ra was "nearly 40" when she had her Baby ("Da Bi").  If I remember right, they did not say  "Han So Ra only had her  first kid at 40".  (But then again, it is possible that their Eldest daughter is from another husband.  Afterall she was already in her 30's when she married Kang Yoon Gyeom)

    Ra El:

IMO, Ra El's husband is a Worse Person.  He came in when young Ra El was lying on the Floor - all bloodied.  He did not even give her a Glance.  Which is why he cannot recognise Adult Ra El.

Whereas IMO,  Kang Yoon Gyeom is the Genius who may have assisted Han Pan Ro in the Take-Over of the Firm of Ra El's father.  But was not aware of the Violence.

    Edited

Seconding this. It sounds like their first daughter is studying to become a Kpop idol from SRs comment during performance. I am wondering though what happened after Dbs birth that made the married couple go through a. Dry spell. Could it be DB is from her affair with her ‘doctor’? And KYG knew? What did he discover 5 years ago that out a strain on their relationship? See, if he was in this marriage from the start to get revenge on his father for his mother’s death, what kind of discovery would make him so turned off that he couldn’t even keep playing nice with SR for the sake of revenge?

@confusedheartdid you watch Lawless Lawyer I loved Seo Ye Ji in there. First episode and she punches the judge and gets suspension, 2nd episode she punches the smart RickRoll'D lawyer whom she eventually works for. Also a revenge plot. Not exactly Kill Bill

Her character in Its okay not to be okay is also slightly similiar to this show if anyone is craving a beautiful female lead with incredible wardrobe, she also seemed ‘cooler’ in that show compared to this one.

What? That's so disgusting! God damn it! And he is let off the hook just like that? Where is the justice is this god forsaken wold? Corruption and undiluted power  everywhere. If he is accused of pedophilia, the allegations against SYJ's seems quite trivial. What on earth  is wrong with people! How did LK get away with these very serious allegations against him, chingu? I am not very well versed in K gossip.

I have a theory that MIL is perhaps HSR's mother/ step mother because remember in episode 3, she commented that she was in this because they ruined her daughter. And she was going to take revenge for doing ruining her daughter. I know this seems far fetched but if we need to tie the loose ends together, we need a motive for her to be in this dangerous game and all this talk about an elder daughter, makes me think that perhaps there is a possibility of the two being the same person.

Yep, I was shocked too. I don’t know how he was able to stay in the industry, I first learned about this in one of Miss Kdrama’s (a youtuber) videos recently. It feels unfair he easily gets casted in dramas without any protest from viewers, but SYJ did for this show.

oh wow! Chingu that’s a very fascinating theory especially because I just realized I’ve never seen SRs mom. I was processing everything so far I didn’t even realize the possibly missing pieces(characters) missing to fill in the blanks and mystery.  I mean to support your theory, the MIL was a founding member in whatever that group is in Liyan that one of the Unnis said didn’t even allow new members but LRL said her mother was an alumni. But I will say my theory is that she is the mother of the singer mentioned when YKK gets the call about Madame Jung dead “..killed the same way that singer died.” And I think his mom. My question is, is this YKKs first affair since his marriage? Viewers seem to theorize the mothers daughter was an ex lover of YKK..maybe a dancer too thus why MIL maybe instructed LRL to use dancing as a seduction. And that he too was with hostesses at Madame jungs bar. But on the other end we have his FIL and many other people mentioning him never having “woman” problems or any scandals. So I wonder what the truth is...maybe it was a woman before he married SR.

LMAOOOO  your kill Bill comment sent me :joy:

@sadthe1stwow that would be such a. Twist! So the MIL would actually be his aunt..and the girl who died his cousin...wowowowowowow. I like that the story just jumped into (semi)present day(cause we still had that 3 month time skip preview too). And that we are learning about the past in pieces depending on the POV of each person with a different reveal.

@lila21my bad I am still getting used to the name acronyms. I meant KYK(called him YKK in text above). The chairman.

@philosophie  You are right.  La-el's  "Fake Mum" looks "Tyrannical"......  something like Han So Ra's father - Han Pan Ro.  Like if you do not obey her and carry out her plan diligently, she might make Life Hell for you.

I think La-el's bio-mother is still alive.  Remember La-el used to settle her mom's medical fee when she was already an adult.  Her mom may be hidden somewhere for the moment.

La-el (FL) and the Kang Yoon Gyeom (ML) may very well genuinely fall-in-love with each other.  Because both of them are leading an Unfulfilled Life. Stuck with someone they do Not love.  They need to be Healed and Freed :  Psychologically and Emotionally.

(Adoi.... their names can be so difficult to remember)

    DISCLAIMER: SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 4

Exactly! And I think so too, writers wouldn’t leAve her in the ‘missing’ category vs dead if they weren’t planning to have her show up at point in the future of the drama.

they may very well be. After the 4th episode (yep I binged it all and man during the watch party iw as stuck between OMGGG I am so excited to see this and it’s so intense that it’s better I’m following it airing then if I binged this all at once vs HOW am I gonna wait for the next episode?! This is too good) it seems they are leading toward a ‘twin flame’ dynamic. I don’t know if writers are insinuating that means they are soul mates, or well versed in the twin flame theory (which in the spiritual realm does not associate it with soul mates. On contrary, twin flame couples are known not to last/be toxic relationships whereas ‘soul mate’ couples are the ones long lasting and healthy in the long run). As you guys can see, I am kind of rationalizing the possibilities that KYGM and LRL DONt end up together.

I am torn, on one end, I definetly see their connection in sharing more similarities than they realize despite their very different upbringings and past as well as their chemistry. I also understand LRL is less unlivable if she has a heart and isn’t as sociopathic as some leads are in revenge that leaves them irredeemable, despicable and deserving of the revenge smacking them karmically right back in the face. Same with KYG, I can see them trying to humanize him so that the viewers too don’t entirely hate him and have room to root for him. But on the other end, the idea I was excited about the most with the femme fatale concept is a female lead that can seduce and pursue men without catching feels and getting attached, like many male leads getting revenge would do (example: money flower and most definitely the show Sponsor). It’s one thing she already has the hurdles of her psychological issues, but now falling for the enemy on top of it is just sucking the fun and thrill of this revenge (writers should take a page from the jdrama Saki and thai drama Fallen Leaf...where the leads are successful and RUTHLESS femme fatales seeking revenge). Not to mention, whether KYGs hands are bloodied or not from her family or other families victim to the rich families greed and corruption, he is still guilty by association and his passiveness towards his father in law and father that most definitely seem like he is aware of their misdeeds. Also isn’t his company using the technology that was originally her fathers? It’s making me think he’s more involved then let on in her fathers demise. With his crutch as an illegitimate child, I wouldn’t put it behind him t have to take extra steps to guarantee his position as chairman. So as hot as their whole dynamic is, I don’t think he is right for her like SEP is (yep I’m biased, haven’t seen any sexual tension and doki doki heart fluttering scenes between these two but he’s the only man in this cast so far that I find myself truly rooting for in the long term).

@confusedheart mmm yes I absolutely love the power of the eye contact in this show. SYJ has undoubtedly successfully conveyed her characters charismatic, sensual,  and irresistible demeanor. As you said though, I found the sudden self harm that was in a place that could get her easily caught by anyone just lazy writing and not consistent with what her character is. If she has over a decade to plan this revenge and mingle with these wretched people, why was she not prepared to beforehand? This didn’t happen 1 year ago. This happened 13 years ago.  Just like oh so conveniently she had bumped into KYG in Spain. I will also say the editing feels off to me sometimes. Some scenes just seem so sudden and it’s not even the ones that are explained in the epilogue or future scenes. It’s just abrupt and choppy. I tell you, in regards to KYK and his possible other flings via Madam Jung, when he told her about the maid and just basically warned her that she may end up dead like them, it gave me another reason why I don’t root for him. He doesn’t seem sincere..in the end we may think she’s using him or taking revenge through him, but he may be trying to use her just as much when if he was really a good guy, he could at least use all that time and energy on trying to defeat these evil bozos that killed the previous people he knows were killed by these Richard Simmons chuck norris Rick rolled lint lickers! Writers want him to be the richest man, powerful man etc but can’t even stand up for himself? Oh pleaseee.

@lila21 so HSR said herself when she first saw YKG she thought he was the one...she told her father and he is the one that initiated the violent take over to get LRLs dads technology. FIL‘gave’ this technology to YKG which was the key to YKG becoming chairman vs his legitimate brother  YKG, aware or unaware of this violate take over, accepts and marries HSR (which I don’t know if this was an arranged marriage or he did like her too-it seems like things were fine between them till 5 years ago..that’s how long she said it’s been since they last made love. Which I don’t think it’s said yet what happened 5 years ago...curious if it had to do with his elder daughter too? Wonder where she’s at. I think she is studying to be an idol pop star because HSR commented in first episode during that parents performance that the idol group ‘reminded her of their elder daughter’). Why would YKG accept FILS help(who seems to feel entitled to the company and that’s it’s ‘his’ hence sending the Vice President assassin.  Showing another sign this FIL did something to ‘help’ the company or his SIL’s position of power to feel like he’s the puppet master/true owner of the company). Well he wants to prove himself to his dad...he didn’t think his talents alone or he’d be capable to become chairman without that technology or FILs help.

@agenth I tell you the truth after I learned of other celebrities scandals hers seemed like child’s play. The older actor Lee Kyung Young from misty, again my life, hyena, etc was arrested years ago for sex with a minor(pedophilia?). Yet his career didn’t die and he’s worked in titular kdramas. I’m sorry but nothing beats a crime like that yet no knetizens are churning over his participation in the currently airing show Why her?  Versus SYJs career revival with this show. Cancel culture has double standards and I’m sick of it.

The plot is a bit incredible at times.  But that is what "Makjang" is all about.  IMO, at least it is not as "Crazy" as "Penthouse".  I  gave up "Penthouse"  at "Penthouse 1" because for me it  resembles a "Madhouse" where everyone is a Lunatic.  No more Story or Sanity.

"Eve" has not descended into that Level yet..

But I don't like the way the FL hurts herself.  It is incredible that her Body is not filled with "Scars".  In which case she will not be "Desirable" any more.

Her Husband is so "innocent".  But he is also part of her father's extermination.  Can be considered an Enemy.  She is "Sleeping With The Enemy".  What a Price for Revenge:pensive:

P/S: I'm surprise that this Thread is quite "Deserted".    Not that many Viewers

I think the craziest revenge show I ever saw that was makjang level in a way that didn’t seem makjang at all was money flower. I was also watching it while currently airing so being left on those cliffhangers every week was excruciating. I really wanted to wait until this show is completed to binge it all but that is it’s own kind of torture. Probably gonna binge all 4 eps tomorrow and torture myself another way waiting with y’all. I am so excited for this show. Many revenge shows that involve seduction usually have a male lead-so I am excited to see this in a female POV and that it is even allowing 19+ scenes spicier than the male seducer revenge dramas(the first example from the top of my mind is the Bad Guy kdrama. Pretty sure there’s more if anyone can remember..would love a list to see if anymore include female fatales).

@sadthe1stso I haven’t seen the show yet but if I could give an idea why she may be targeting the son in law of the chaebol family that ruined her life, is probably related to how he became the son in law of this family. I don’t know his background, if he is poor or a chaebol too, and I don’t think it has been revealed since I’ve been following recaps and episode discussion threads of this show, but if he is poor, then I think the reason that his father in law accepted him is because they share a secret. Because he got his hands dirty and did crimes that no rich son in law would do for their father in law. That no rich son in law would be their fathers lap dog. When I say share a secret, it could be that the SIL blackmailed the FIL or vice versa because of their crimes related to le ra els family. Also I’ve noticed in kdramas whenever the evil guys work together and commit a crime they must keep a secret, they bond over it. And tend to commit more sins as partners in crime since they now share a Secret and trust each other. It could be the SIL knows all his FILs secrets, that not even who’s wife knows about her own father. That when the FIL wants to do something corrupt, the SIL will help him more than any other person. And that if LRL got her claws into the SIL, she too would now know what the FIL is up to, manipulate SIL to expose them, or simply control him so that FIL now fails in sins like the one he succeeded in with LRL family. I hope this makes sense

also I read something interesting in Twitter. That LRL is being manipulated by her ‘mother’ and she is really the mastermind in this revenge. What if LRL and the SIL have more in common then they realize..they are the pawns of their elders.

Yes! The show kept making a big deal that it was going to be New Year soon (the flash-forward, the banner in Ep 16 that showed a cafe was about to open on New Year's, etc), and this happening for Gu would be very cool.

The only thing is when MJ texts gu about the heater it is January 18th on the text. So I thought they met after new years

GJ is both sad and courageous at the same time.  Some people may say she needs self love, to give herself more respect in a relationship.  I thought GJ's point about defining her emotions was so true.  The feelings she has for TH is a mix of everything. Love is not the only reason why she is unable to leave.  She loves the part of him that is upright and decent even though his familial obligations and weakness hurt her.  I feel sorry that she has settled to lighten his load, to be his supporter instead of depending on him to support her.  But I also understand that she is a strong person who accepts the challenge and believes she can fight for both of them.  That in itself is admirable.   In a way, she is her mother's daughter. I hope she will not sacrifice her life the same way.  How tired it is to have to vigilantly protect and nurture your broken flower bud all the time.

It’s interesting because in the writers other work, Oh hae young, the main male lead mentions this as well when talking to his ex fiancee. The ex fiancé broke up with him because she thought he only stayed with her because he pitied her not because he loved her. But he argues that love and pity are the same, that love encompasses all sorts of emotion and if you care about someone you are going to pity their pain.

    21 hours ago, bedifferent said:

Ahhh, there is also that New Year eve club scene.  With the non linear way the drama progresses, I'm trying to figure if it happened before or after episode 16.  If it was to mark the time Gu quits the business, he would have walked away without getting into the car.  His outfit, coat and all, feel more constraint than the casual jacket he has on the last scene.  Obviously it would be cool if it marked a new beginning for Gu.

I think they reunite after New Years because when MJ orders heater and texts gyu it says January 18th on the text message.

I'd like to think that that earlier flash-forward scene in which he walks out of the club with the screen blasting "Happy New Year 2022" is his final walk out of the club, after reimbursing Chairman Shin the money that Hyeon-jin stole.

We also never saw that scene where she looks back at the ambulance in Seoul or when they’re both running near a lake in a pinkish sky with birds.

Well, that really wasn't about the struggles of child-rearing at all, although they did touch on the fact that excessive pressure is not great for the kids. Great, thanks for that message. I'm sure it will make zero impression on the moms who really need to hear that, because none of these families are even close to normal. So all the attendant problems end up affecting their kids' lives negatively. (Let's see, abusive pervert stepfather, drug-dealer and gambling addict, and Eun-pyo. Well, I guess both of Su-in's parents are semi-sane, and she happens to be the most well-adjusted child.)

Eun-pyo may be the dumbest and nosiest character I've seen recently. She comes off as a concern-trolling and attention-hungry hypocrite. She just enjoys being the star of the K-drama playing in her own head. I guess she's a good frame to get the action on this show moving, but as a person - not very relatable. She doesn't seem to care about her husband or either of her kids, not if they interfere with her various s**t-stirring adventures. Dong-seok only gets better by spending time away from her.

And if she's going to obstruct justice by helping a criminal flee the country, then at least do it properly. Calling Chun-hee while her detective husband is in the house? Ha ha, come on.

And when confronting someone about possible murder/manslaughter, maybe you should not be in his house alone with him, at the site of the possible killing. Common sense, girl.

Anyway, I'm glad Chun-hee did her time and she is out. She really is the best character and the actress did a great job. Obviously she made a lot of bad choices in life, but her complexity and struggles were interesting to watch. And she wasn't annoying and whiny.

I really don't understand how her terrible husband never went to jail, but I guess she didn't tell anyone where she got her drugs. She may have decided that one of the parents needed to be not in jail so that her kids would be taken care of. Also, no one believed her, anyway, which was sad.

I guess I should care about what happened to Luis-Jinha-Rhea, but I don't. I feel terrible for Henri, but that's all. And Kim Gyuri did great playing two different people.

I agree. This show was just..I don’t know if it was trying to encompass a lot of genres or...that’s the thing, it has no solid thing about it to be like okay this isn’t the essence of the show...this is the point of the story. None of that. Example: the twist Louis is having an affair his step sister. And same issue with characters. EP, who’s supposed to be main lead where usually main leads are likable or at the very least relatable...but she’s neither of that and I love the actress so I really, really tried to enjoy her screen time but I couldn’t. Her goals are ever changing and so is her identity and intentions. One moment it’s about her inferiority complex, then her gifted child, and then her frenemy. You can’t tell me that you would do the same as CH, miss EP, when you contradicted yourself the moment you endangered your own kids helping her. Nothing is ever important to her that seems like it was two episodes ago. Her job as professor, her art, her kids, etc

The wild dog MJ met on the hill - it can be likened to meeting Gu, as well. And it ran away.

Though the crying yes - was never for the caged wild dogs, but for Gu's departure.

Esp since he disconnected the number too and there was no way of communication.

I agree. MJ was crying for losing her ‘dog’ Gu. Because even when CH finds this out from the market vendor, the next scene is him in the parking lot where Gus rolls Royce was. He was looking for Gu for MJ.  gu is the lost dog. What is also fascinating is Baek remarks 8n earlier episodes that Gu didn’t shed a tear when his sister/Gus ex girlfriend died, but he cried when his dog passed away. Thus showing how intentional the dialogue is and how every word is brought back again in future episodes-like the bird flying into the club akka baby in the club. It was exactly like how MJ spoke to Gu about a nail on the ground or a man hanging in the tree..we can also assume he is reminded of their last conversation about strollers vs carrying baby. Baby was in stroller but then hostess carries him and then baby is put on couch across Gu, thus never staying in stroller even though that’s what Seoul moms focus on when getting stuff for their baby.

  12. For those experiencing withdrawals like me, I recommend Goblin. The grim reaper characters love story is very similiar to JG and KR. Set in modern day, there are flashbacks though of the couple in joseon period just like JG and KR. After this show, the actors DW and HS even got their own kdrama because their chemistry was off the charts- Touch Your heart. I say this because maybe it is hope that JG and KR may get their own show one day so we can see more scenes of them. Also i was blessed upon the heavens of the youtube recommendations to be shown free English subtitled upload of a LSH web drama Handmade love. All of the episodes are on YouTube so if you miss him and have 2 hours to spare, you can watch him in a minisieries that gives me JG vibes with his character in the show. Especially at the beginning and his 3xpression the very first scene at beginning of video.

My thinking is that after spending hours with Gu every day and seeing his work ethic, he felt he knew the man and accepted him. However, as a parent I'm not sure I would entrust my kid to someone I knew so little about. Of course, MJ is also an adult and free to make her own decisions...but from what I understand parental approval is still very important in Korea. So I go back and forth a bit - on the one hand it's very touching that Mr. Yeom is the key player in helping MJ and Gu connect again. But on the other hand I'm like, "Wait, don't you want to know more about what he's been up to??"

See this is my problem with Yeom papa. I got a lot of hate on Reddit discussion thread when I complained about him not saying I love you back. Many said that is just the culture, asian fathers aren’t affectionate or kind to say that. But I’m sorry, so those same fathers will give their daughters number away when a man asks for it? It’s inconsistent and flippant. Also I understand if he remarried to liberate his kids, but honestly he could have went to Seoul with them if he really wanted them to go there. Honestly yeom got it good, I feel like he the only one been liberated by default since the start of the show. He’s always done what he wanted until the end, staying in sanpo. Good for him.

I can relate the scene with these:

-The stroller.  It reminds us of the last convo between MJ and Gu.

-The baby.  MJ wanted to carry her baby instead of putting the baby in the stroller and how she would carry one-year-old Gu.

-The fatherly instinct.  Does seeing a baby evoke Gu to have one and to be thinking about starting a normal family?

-Something unthinkable just happens like a baby entering a club, a bird flying in, or Gu's taking a train to Sanpo.

I also feel like it was a throwback to when MJ talks about a nail on floor or person hanging in tree. Something that’s out of place /not supposed to be there.

BTW this is red flag in real life, this is drama which is fictional. If in real life somebody didn't reveal their real name, and the girl pined over him for years; something is awfully wrong between the 2 of them and this shouldn't be romanticised. Just my cents.

Honestly, since he left sanpo I have been shipping them less and less. I realized this when he called her and asked her if she was single (did you find a man that worshipped you yet?) and found myself disappointed that she said no. I don’t know, I think I am frustrated with him. He doesn’t deserve MJ. Even if he ‘worshipped’ her it doesn’t make up for ghosting her. Also she gonna become a widow like her dad because he does not worship himself or take care of himself. If the show is as realistic as it tries to depict, there is no way he can survive for anymore years after so much excessive drinking.

is yeoms dads sister his wife?? The sister at the funeral looks like his wife...what the heck?!

@Codomowelcome! So happy you made an account and love your posts!  My condolences about your father...yes I loved when they did the laundry scene too. If it were me wouldn’t have washed my moms clothes so I could have her scent still.

@lebeaucouple it is fascinating we have HAs ex character, to compare the situation of someone dying vs someone died suddenly. There are pros and cons. When someone is dying, you are prepared for their end and can do and say whatever you want to get off your chest so they know before they die, but when someone just suddenly dies you can’t say goodbye or what you want that person to know before they pass. Luckily none of the kids had a big fight with the mom or said anything they regret. I loved how deep Ch was when talking to his friends and how his soul may have subconsciously known and his body followed. I think this happens a lot in real life too.

what was with the scene when they’re all eating then turn to the urn? Did it make a sound?

Wow the latest episode is very heavy. It is a lot to take in since it focuses on mom’s POV. I was just happy she got to see TH but sad that she passed so suddenly before seeing that her family is well. I am not surprised dad remarried kinda quick- he is very old and has always had a ‘wife’ take care of him. Something that the mom clearly did out of love despite her resentment.

It was an interesting parallel how GJ talks about being a girlfriend to single dad/step mom to his daughter when they’re alone in restaraunt and now she is going to be faced with having her own step mom now too. It is crazy how consistent this show is...absolutely no plot holes..every dialogue and scene is so intentional and just another Segway into foreshadowing future events.

  16. A lot to unpack here, but I just need to rant about the dad for a sec. hen CH pointed out he never did anything shameful, and we now see what kind of past Gu had with his present job, for the first time I pitied CH. as someone who despised him at first as you can see from previous posts, even I agreed with him that it was unfair how the dad treated Gu better than his own son. To make matters worse, his wife would always do what HE wanted, but when did he ever do what she wanted?and then treats her like she is replaceable.. It looked like he never even sold the farm land that she wanted to sell...he chose it over the sanpo sinks since it looked like the truck no longer had the sign and he had a stroke so he can’t work anymore. I get he remarried someone to take care of him after his stroke, but did he really have to remarry to have someone take care of him? Let someone call him honey? He is a very frustrating character to watch...almost as much as Gu, who MJ so eloquently pointed out, is afraid to be happy. What an episode though. Semi traumatizing from how poignant it is. I almost had an anxiety attack in the end honestly. Because this is a story that cannot only happen in kdrama land....this is a tale that occurs daily around the world in real life. It even happened to me. One random morning, when days before it my mom was just fine, I woke up and found her dead in her sleep. My heart aches for you @americanchai. My condolences and if it helps you are not alone-she also happened to pass away a week after Mother’s Day and a month after her birthday. I’m here for you chingu if you need someone to talk to. My DMs are always open.

  17. IM GONNA MISS THIS INTRO! the music, the red thread and opening sequence. There’s no other show that gives me the chills like this one. Usually I skip intro but never do with this one.

As the episode started, I was so immersed when JG and Ryeon met for the first time as reapers and jade empress in joseon clothing. Ah we finally found out he became one after two lifetimes from the one with Ryeon. My imagination kinda went wild and I was like wow what kind of story would we see if the beginning of the show started like this and we focused on these two and joseon period a little before going to modern day. The scene with jade empress and JW asking her if she can help Ryeon was amazing. Jade empress is an incredible actress. From always being friendly, bringing her employees energy drinks and coming in her gardening outfit, we now see the powerful and strong side of her when she slams the table and is no nonsense. We see why she is the jade empress.

I have to give some props to JW actor too-rowoon Oppa? I can see the difference in his demeanor in the flashback when he first hired by Jade empress vs now. His posture, his tone, his expressions, everything. I can see the devlopment and growth in comparison. WOW.

I feel so bad for newbie in GRs office while JW and RG discussing. Speaking of JW back then, this newbie reminds me of old JW. You are in for a big surprise in this grim reaper gig..good luck oppa. OOOF anddd JG just ripped off your ID.

THE ACTION!! Grim reaper vs hells minions. I wish these directors knew how entertaining this is and how much they could have used scenes like this throughout the show. I am not one for fight scenes but even I am interested in it. So cool how they teleport and move with the black every outfits.

Who else subbed BUCKETS of tears during the “I’ll protect you” scene between KR and CH?

JG cuffed by Ha. Anyone screen capture this? Why does JG look so hawt cuffed or choking someone?! Just give this man his own show already as a main lead!!!

LOVED when jade empress told off Ha and the twist in how she handled all this. Again, makes sense why she’s jade empress. She is a baddie boss  that’s for sure.

OMG. Amazing actor again. JGs expression and manner of speech toward ryeon changed after getting his memories back. The look in his eyes and way he moves his face like when they were married. Literally this scene of them together when she visits him in his ‘jail cell’ cuffed, I am crying and begging out loud ‘PLEASE why can’t these two be together?! Please let these two be together and have their red thread back!!!’ My shipper heart T__T I was literally secondhand wishing that her wish the jade empress promised to grant would be to repair the red thread between her and JG. PLEASE.

The ending....okay honestly, with all the worse endings we had in mind like JG going to hell or other tragic sad happy endings. This was good. Even open enough for a second season...either way my shipper heart can just mentally imagine a fan fiction where ryeon and JG fall in love again working as reapers since neither reincarnated. I’m happy for JW too. It was a good ending even if it didn’t tightly tie up all loose ends.

  18. That’s what he used the contract for? I don’t understand why he didn’t just use it to make ryeon tell him about his past life. So frustrating for this twist. I think I wouldn’t mind it so much if this happened in the beginning or middle episodes, heck it could really spice things up-but this is way too much for the prefinale episode. Again, so much lost potential. Like uri Johnny deep hades. I would have LOVED to see his character more in earlier episodes. SOOO frustrating

i want my happy ending. I too haven’t shipped a couple this bad, ryeon and JG, for as long as I can remember. Oh, also some theorized that JW has a red thread of fate with CH that’s why ryeon said they’re fated (OTP?) at least maybe one character will get a happy ending, grrrr.

She really has only one mode of operation, which is to immediately barge open doors, march up to people, and confront them, regardless of time or place. Her drama-queening ways can be satisfying when she's telling off the gossip-moms, or when she told off Dong-seok's tutors. But it's getting old, and that isn't always the best way to do things.

I agree. She has not developed at all except for her inferiority complex with JH. But she has not gotten smarter, wiser or more cunning. When the directors wife first told her to about jinha ‘stalking’ her husband, if EP were more clever she would have pointed out 1) If he was stalked, why did he never mention this in the investigation?(louis was actually smart and brought this point up later) 2) if he sent this pic to his friend after she sent it, then why didn’t this forwarding of her nudes happen when she was alive and the time she sent it vs now months later since her death and maybe even longer since she sent it if it wasn’t right before her death

god anyone shocked Louis and his sister are already banging?! I thought maybe she would be oblivious to his feelings, or that their siblingationship would be platonic since I don’t know...they’re (adopted?) siblings?! I guess my confusion is if he got to have his sister, why did he marry and impregnate his sisters lookalike? Or did they start hooking up after he was with JH? The sister realized his feelings when she saw him marry her lookalike and then they started an affair? Did JH know she was a doppelgänger/twin? Why did she sus EP and Louis having an affair if she was aware of his obsession with his sister then?

They re-released the scripts from My Mister last month (the link is here if anyone else wants to buy them! :lol:https://www.ktown4u.com/iteminfo?goods_no=74466 ) and I got them. It's so interesting to see how Park Hae Young has Dong Hoon smile or laugh to mask his desire to cry in certain key scenes (written out, explicitly, as instructions in the script). Gu here reminded me of DH, holding back his tears with his laughing. He seems pretty miserable.

Is this the script that includes scene where jian strips naked in front of DH?
