  1. It seems that they are trying to make the 2 events clash so that you can't go to the other due to traditional views of funerals and weddings. First time I am seeing this use in a drama and I am abit uneasy on seeing it being explicitly used here.

For what Mirae said at the end of the preview, I was thinking, that took way too long and you only realised after your elders let you go do what you want.

  2. Plot turned into makjang territory so I am not so invested now.

Hopefully, the writer actually gives a reason for why Jinjoo is back in Korea or else the whole affair feels like the character being hard forced in the plot to do the reveal when her mum is in good health and she only knew of the building transfer when she's back in Korea.

Kyungae is really being decent like how Hyunjae described her to be. She dislikes Haejun but she knows that there's no point in stopping this marriage in the end. She can agree with points that Haejun brings up because she thinks so in her heart.

The family meeting likely did not turn out well with how Haejun's family was subtly looking down on Yoonjae, so Kyungae was pissed off in that phone call later. Kyungae won't flare up at the meeting with Minho and Kyungcheol there.

For Soojung's issue, it's designed to have a lot of gray areas since we know it's not Soojung's suggestion to hide her status from the start. Jungja made clear about what exactly she was angry about in that talk. It's the deception, not the adoption. It's disappointing to see Mirae settle down with her mother after 2 big bombs. The mother-daughter fight was really disheartening to watch for the whole process.

It seems that they are going deeper into Soojung's plot with how they are talking about Miyoung unable to have children in that last part of the preview. If there's something else that we do not know yet, then I really don't know when are we going ot start on endgame for Soojae-Yuna and Hyunjae-Mirae.

  3. I think Kyungae can accept a crazy daughter-in-law if she doesn't live with her. She looks so scared in the preview that I think she doesn't want to talk to Haejun at all and just disappear from the meeting.

Mirae's marriage is not annulled. This is especially going to be a triple blow for Kyungae. I won't be surprised if she gets sick from this.

This episode reached a new low in ratings. It's really feeling like the writer is stretching out a 16 ep script for 50 ep.

  4. It seems like Haejun-Yoonjae is going to take a dip in their relationship with worries surfacing. It's ok to have that for this plotline, though it will lessen the overall fun of the drama. I can somehow feel it already starting from this episode.

I am not really sure what is the point of mentioning Hyunjae and Mirae looking like siblings in the preview since they are not blood related. Maybe it is for the family vibe.

It's weird to see sister-in-laws confiding in kdrama. It seems likely that Jinjoo is going to talk about a divorce since there's zero mention of her husband so far.

Kyungae and Minho really stood out these 2 episodes with their acting on the Yuna issue. Why can't I have more scenes with them? Haiz.

  5. Mirae's styling seems to be getting worse as the show goes on in my eyes. Though the initial clothes were ok for me, her styling has been criticised by knets since day 1.

Jungja already told us the writer's intention of how to continue writing Hyunjae-Mirae's line lol.

Kyungae may be biased towards Soojae because he is her child. But if you look at Yuna's situation after removing the other characters, she's working with someone she knows to scam his parent that she has never met before. That is edging closer to criminal territory even though she developed real feelings for Soojae. If Soojae had less of a barrier to his conscience doing the scamming because the target is his parents, what barrier does Yuna have? Yuna has now realised the full weight of the situation. She will also need to make amends.
Hyeyeong, though irritating, has made a lot of true observations this episode (as do a lot of characters). Whether it was warning Kyungae about withdrawing her deposit early for her children or what she said when trying to comfort Kyungae.

Kyungae has been quite fair in what she said to Yuna when assessing her feelings. She trusted Yuna too much, thus the betrayal has been so great. You can fault her for trusting too much, but in the end she should be justified in talking to Yuna like this. We will have to see what Minho says to Yuna next.

  6. It seems that it has become the usual pattern of leaving the big stuff to Sunday and let Saturday breeze through without much happening.

I haven't seen a moment that has enlightened Soojae on the problem that I see so often in dramas. I am not sure how long the writer will drag this, since the love triangle isn't really playing out yet too.

I am pretty much indifferent by now about Soojung-Mirae-Hyunjae because the mother-daughter pair hasn't been handling their relationship well. Soojung goes back and forth between being unhappy about Hyunjae and trying to appease Mirae and be reasonable about the issue. Mirae pretty much puts all her focus on Hyunjae and makes her mother worry when she doesn't call back when she's going to be home late.

I think Hyunjae will specifically know that Soojung's mother has an adopted daughter. Whether he will make the dots connect based on Mirae's answer and whether Mirae will know from there is unknown.

  7. The scam situation seems to be close to resolution since the brothers are now involved. What's left for Soojae is to mend the broken trust with his family. What's left for this plotline should be the love triangle now.

It seems that we are going slow again with how the Hyunjae-Soojung meeting is being left to next week to finish. Soojae's fallout with his family did not seem to have high enough impact to fill up today's episode.

It seems that the only family meeting left is for Mirae to meet Minho.

  8. The preview seems to be hinting at Soojae leaving the house (Kyungae's call to Yuna), which seems to be taking the easy way out for now (to make the elders worry). The preview seems to be still focusing more on Soojae-Yuna rather than how Soojae is going to handle the problem in front of his elders, so it seems we won't go into the resolution of the problem that fast.

Mirae and Soojung's relationship has the most up and downs, even compared to the 3 main lovelines.

  9. They did not drag the scam reveal longer like I was expecting. Great for the viewers I guess, though I did not expect Yuna to go that far to confess on her own. She's trying that hard to help Soojae.

But looking at the preview, there seems to be a clear disconnect between the other 2 brothers and the rest of the family (Soojae was kneeling in Hyunjae's house). The brothers look so chill when the elders are distraught when they should already know of the scam.

As I understood, the friend owned the business but he had a lease agreement for the place. So, he had to renew the leasing and that’s what soo jae didn’t know.

I am not sure if this is intended as a roundabout scam method so that Hyunjae cannot win the lawsuit. I've never seen this method in previous weekend dramas and Soojae did not elaborate on the details when he consulted Hyunjae. Hyunjae did say that it will be hard to get the money back so it seems set that Soojae will not be able to recover his borrowed money easily, but he deserves it with his attitude in my opinion. Since Changyeol bothered to message Soojae, the writer might just let him return the money at the end.

  11. I can see why comments in the dcinside gallery were negative about the Soojae-Yuna love triangle before it even started. Jungho and Soojae are both potrayed with obvious personality flaws that are disliked by the audience easily. After 20 episodes, that personality hasn't changed much. There is significant possibility that the audience will answer "neither" if they were asked who Yuna should end up with.

If they are showing Soojae crying in the preview, the scam reveal probably won't happen next week with the slow pace that the drama is going. I don't think Soojae and Jungho are going to have a phone conversation like what that preview is trying to make us believe. My guess is Yuna will be actively trying to resolve this aftermath after the gym scam, but given her decision to participate in the marriage scam, there should be a lot of dilemmas for her.

Haejun and Yoonjae are pretty much fulfilling the comedy quota for this show (with a bit of participation from Hyunjae). They are pretty much the only nice highlights for these 2 weeks.

For Hyunjae-Mirae, if I were to sumamrise their scenes so far, it's pretty much start dating -> go on dates -> start kissing. It's pretty much quite flat on the emotions chart because Hyunaje and Soojung are putting out the fires so fast. I can agree with comments that I saw that these 2 were nicer to watch before they started dating compared to now.

Soojung is pretty much hard carrying the tension in these storyline, but Mirae's relationship with her is really a mystery to watch now. You bothered to ask your father what your mother is worrying about, started an argument with your mother and looked totally fine the next day browsing through your work materials before your mother came in to make amends. With how slow this drama is going, it's a surprise to see the argument start and end within one episode. I am not sure at this point if Mirae even cares that much about her mother as a person with so many worries.

There were recent pictures of Hyunjae and Mirae filming a family meeting scene with Soojung and Minho. It's probably going to be another stressful event for Soojung plus her sister-in-law who gets on her nerves is coming to Korea. I am not sure about the exact date the photos were taken but it is worrying that they are filming when the family meeting is already mentioned in the preview (Hyunjae, you are definitely not a free pass with Soojung despite how you boast about it). If the writer is having a block and not able to write out more events, it's going to be a disaster for future episodes. To add on to this, the drama studio's reputation isn't that good too currently. They just had to personally apologise to religious figures for another drama of theirs. A lot of their dramas didn't do well ratings wise (some with big names and the dramas are not of the same genre). My liberation notes is an exception probably due to the writer's fame and script plus the resonance it had with viewers. Korean gallery comments previously called this drama as the next House of Bluebird (drama from 7 years ago, ratings never broke 30%, not the same genre, with milder makjang elements, actors were definitely not nobodies). I am not sure if KBS will go drastic and cut this drama short. It is unlikely to happen but if the ratings ever break their viewership floor for weekend dramas (around 20%, house of bluebird reached 19%), it will become a serious concern for their management. Losing even your base viewership audience never bodes well for tv stations.

Next saturday's ending scene should probably be Hyunjae-Mirae's kiss (shouldn't be a smokescreen again). Sunday's should be related to Haejun and Yoonjae sleeping together.

Oh, it's nice to read your positive comment about this drama. I am also enjoying it very much...it's like a happy, chill pill. No stress.

I am wondering until when are they going to hold before they break up. Soo Jae is still thinking about solving everything with the apartment, but not only will he find out his friend scammed him, it seems like his brothers are thinking about trying to get the marriage race canceled. Then, what is he going to do?

Also, I hope MiRae's brother finds another girl at some point, so far it does not seem like YooNa has any interest in him (as much as I would like them together) and I fear, the only reason she would give him a chance is if Soo Jae pushes her away due to the gym mess. and him feeling insecure.

It's like their only big issue will be because of the mother and later her connection to grandpa. Though I wonder if that might happen soon...it seems like Soo Jung's mother is not doing well, and also the fact that the husband sister might appear will force a chance in their family dynamic.

I won't get my hopes up bc of the preview...I don't think their first kiss will happen in his apartment, probably Yoon Jae will interrupt (imo Hyun Jae does deserve it :D )

They are def the highlight for me. Also, those sublte changed in their expressions in that bridge scenes were great. I wonder how long until the whole family knows. Mommy Lee will have a conniption I am sure :D :D :D

I hope so too. It feels like the story in both of their cases has not really progressed.

Do you @Lunkera @lyd89 @haifa234 @backstreetboysfan think the family will agree on cancelling that marriage race? Or will Soo Jae be found out first?

If they manage to cancel the race before Soojae gets found out, it will be a better outlook for him. But to be honest, with how deep Kyungae is into this marriage race for Soojae, it will be very hard to get it cancelled.

  13. When I was watching the broadcast, the lull I experienced left me with no sense of expectation when I watched the preview.

Soojae-Yuna: Pretty much nothing much has happened since Yuna crying during the wedding dress fitting. Their scenes are just sweet dating scenes. They kinda finally started the ball rolling for the scam reveal, but then the important highlight of this gym takeover scam would be when Soojae's family finds out about the scam. For all we know, Soojae's family finding out about the scam would not even happen next week, but the week after.

I am not sure when the love triangle will really get going with how Yuna is acting like a wall to Jungho. There's so far close to zero scenes with the 3 of them talking together. If the preview was meant to be misleading, Soojae may not even be that jealous next week. Maybe, the scam reveal will create a rift between Soojae and Yuna and that's when the triangle comes in. To be honest, my opinion is that the possibility is not low that the gym scam and love triangle will be the only 2 major events in the Soojae-Yuna storyline until the drama ends.

Hyunjae-Mirae: This couple is pretty much similar to Soojae-Yuna's tone these few episodes. Soojung is pretty much solo carrying the only existing flashpoint in this relationship. Yujin's appearance should end for now with the credits at the end. Her only significance to the plot seems to only be to initially spark Mirae's jealousy. However, the drama that she's writing may also bring her back later since they talked about it a lot at the end.

Back to Soojung, Mirae does not seem that intent yet on finding out what is the root cause of the problem with her mother yet. Jinheon knowing about Minho being adopted does give him a perspective into how to talk to Soojung about it. However, Soojung's issue has plagued her for almost her whole life. Resolution will not come easy to her. Soojung has not been drastic to the extent that she outright objects to Mirae's relationship so she's still trying her best to be fair. Knowing about Minho's adoption does give her concerns a more concrete shape. We will have to see how she works out from there.

That hint about the kiss scene at the end really came out of nowhere. Hyunjae is in his own bed. The only possibility that I can think of is that he's sick, but then there's no sign of him getting sick this week at all when we know how the writer likes to build up to events happening. Maybe, this scene will be bait and it will actually happen on Sunday instead of Saturday so that leaves time for buildup. Or we can go down the more ridiculous route and let it be a scene in someone's imagination (I saw comments that it's so weird to see Hyunjae closing his eyes first).

Yoonjae-Haejun: Their scenes, and by extension, Hyunjae and the people around them trying to find out about their relationship are pretty much the only highlight this week. Seeing as how there's zero big events for this storyline so far, I think we can safely expect them to go romcom all the way.

For next week, I do hope the drama gives something concrete for both Soojae's and Soojung's storyline. The current storyline feels too ambiguous for it to continue in this state for another week. I am not sure when Soojung will actually stop "playing nice" with Jungja and Mirae. She's still just keeping it in.

Edit: Oh, I forgot to add that since they bothered to get an actress to act out Soojung's sister-in-law, I am not sure what she will bring to the table now. Hopefully, there would be more participation compared to Yujin lol.

  14. There are some scenes from ep19 preview that did not appear in ep19. The talk about adoption should start in ep20 I guess.

I saw some speculation from knets when the show started airing that since we already have 2 adopted children in the show, why not make Hyunjae the third one? It may also work around the iffy adopted siblings problem that some people have about Hyunjae-Mirae.

Kyungchul didn't look that good when the family went out to visit the graves. We may have another sit down and talk moment.

  15. 17 hours ago, Min Mcgonagall said:

I don't know how the drama will unfold with MiRae's mom. If she decides to take her mom with her home, the grandma will probably let the secret of SooJung's adoption out. I mean, she already called MiRae by her mother's real name once. Also, the paternal grandma won't be happy and that lady can throw a tantrum.

I remember the scene where she reenacted the adoption scene with Mirae while the three of them were out shopping. I don't think Mirae caught on from that since there was zero mention of that after the episode but it did show the risk that Soojung's mother pose to Soojung's secret.

  16. Shin Dong Mi's husband is a musical actor though. He's familiar with this and I think Shin Dong Mi rarely had scenes like this in her recent years of acting so he's in a good spot. He was quite a funny guy when he appeared with Shin Dong Mi on a variety show.

I wonder if Soojae really did barge into a closed shop for that preview. It's going to be embarrassing.

Yoonjae wasn't that bothered about being kicked out of the show and now that he's dating, he likely wouldn't take it to heart. My guess is that the whole thing will be over in 5 minutes.

Soojung did observe that Mirae had gotten more cheerful after dating Hyunjae. She may disapprove of the timing of starting a relationship and be protective of Mirae. She did praise Hyunjae's looks in some way and tried to guide her daughter so that she does not get hurt in the relationship. She definitely was not 100 percent opposed to the relationship at the start. Mirae mentioned something changed with her mother in the preview, so I am curious what will it be this time.

I have no clue who will marry first. The love triangle hasn't started yet. Yoonjae just went official. Hyunjae and Mirae will definitely be last. They may not even marry when this drama ends.

  17. After the subs came out, the preview doesn't look that serious. It seems more likely that they won't go deep into the father-daughter drama next week.

Soojung disliking Hyunjae more really came out of nowhere though (I'm not sure how they edited this preview). It will be hard to believe if the reason was that Hyunjae's father was adopted (given her own situation). After so many scenes with Soojung, the feeling I get is that her other family members rarely look out for her after the failed attempt to bring her mother to the house. Jinheon has to do a balancing act between his mother and wife so he cannot say much. Soojung's children are preoccupied with other matters. Soojung does not have much emotional support with her mother's matters troubling her (add on the hinted health problems for her mother). Jungja is in a similar situation with these family members but she now has a outdoor pastime with friends and does not have an ailing mother. Soojung sounded really cold at the end. Mirae may have really said something that she shouldn't.

If there's going to be a love triangle for Soojae-Yuna, the script is definitely taking its time to start on it. There's nothing much to hint at one starting in that preview.

As for Hyunjae-Mirae, I have to say I am troubled with the plot progression. Everytime a small event happens, it seems that they will move on from it even though the problem was not resolved fully. It looks like another small event with talking next week, unless the director is leaving out "juicy" Yujin interference deliberately out of the preview. However, with how "simply evil" Yujin has been potrayed so far (love-oriented and scheming) with so little screentime, the impact will feel mediocre. How will the viewers buy it if Hyunjae leans towards Yujin somehow or another all of a sudden? Unless Hyunjae's meeting with Yujin next week goes beyond a few lines, with Yujin showing a side we have not seen yet, the addition of Yujin to the story will really feel meaningless. You could always let the character go more aggressively with fewer appearances to incur Mirae's jealousy and make Hyunjae draw the line faster. Haiz, this feels like a waste of screentime and the actress' time and skill to potray an one-dimensional character for so long. Youngeun's appearance felt like she did more with less time lol.

And after one week, we should be back to the usual weekly romcom routine with Haejun-Yoonjae.

  18. When I watched the ep18 preview yesterday, I thought that maybe nothing big will happen for ep18 except for Yoonjae and Haejun's kiss. Then, I watched the broadcast today and that really happened. This episode feels like they are putting plot points here and there to build up to a future conflict. This week's episodes feel like they may wear the audience's patience thin with how slow they went this week.

Written preview: Is Soojae's gym scam finally going to happen next week? They may just drag another week for all we know. I am just surprised that his friend can afford to wait this long for the rest of the payment.

Video preview: (I would need translation to know exactly what are they saying) A few points:

    1. Are they really starting the father-daughter search drama this soon? We are not even at the halfway mark. If they are going to let this drama drag till the last few episodes, the viewers may really get tired of it. If they are going to resolve this earlier, I cannot think of something else bigger for them to end the drama on.

    2. Why is Yujin in Yoonjae's office now? Is she changing her target? It feels like her character is all over the place lol. Is Yujin's appearance just to trigger Mirae's jealousy? It feels like she's having no effect on Hyunjae (so why bother having the few scenes with him now). With the number of episodes that is predicted to be left for her, I don't think she will ever do anything significant to Hyunjae with this plot progression pace. The two writers seem to be doing more in the Haejun-Yoonjae plot compared to the Hyunjae-Mirae plot now.

    3. After seeing Soojung's "sanity" slowly breaking over many weeks (episodes), Mirae seems to be the last straw for Soojung somehow? I found it after watching the episodes, but do Soojung's children know that she's adopted? I saw that Hyunjae told Mirae his father is adopted. Is Mirae trying to do the same and triggered Soojung when she mentioned it?

On a side note, I am surprised that Yoonjae's blind date made another appearance today even though they already thanked her in the ending credits before. Does this mean that Youngeun may make another appearance again?

  19. Soojae and Yuna don't seem to be a lot of important scenes in this episode. Seeing that they made zero appearance in the preview, if today's episode does not end with the Yoonjae-Haejun kiss scene (though this is more likely with Soojae-Yuna as example previously), it could be a Soojae-Yuna bomb so that they don't reveal too much in the preview. Of course, an even smaller possibility would be a Hyunjae-Mirae bomb.

It looks like Yoonjae and Haejun will go official after this, but of course, we have all been misled before.

  20. If anyone's curious about the continuation of last week's ending,

    Spoiler

The marriage scam did not get revealed. Soojae arriving cut Kyungae and Yuna off before Yuna can continue. Kyungae just assumed Yuna was getting nervous before marriage. The writer may really just go with the gym scam into marriage scam revealed route.

Haejun and Yoonjae seems to be breaking away from the comedy routine this week. It may also be back to the usual after this week too.

There seems to be a lot of sweet scenes with Hyunjae and Mirae today, mostly of Hyunjae trying to relieve Mirae of her concerns. I am not sure if all her concerns were addressed by the end. (It looks like it is, going by her facial expressions). But then, for me, there is this lingering uneasiness as I watch on because I can't shake off the feeling that Hyunjae is overcompensating for Mirae's concerns and it won't end well.

Moving to the preview, it seems that Mirae gets introduced to the writers as Hyunjae's girlfriend. At this point of time, I am not sure what will be the purpose of keeping Yujin in the show further. She went a little out of character near the end of today's episode (the script, not the actress), with a "dreamy" type of line. The actress showed that she had the script for ep 19-22, so I am not sure what else is in store for her. Nam Bora doesn't seems to have that little recognition to only appear for like 2 minutes per episode. Hopefully, I hope they don't go with the "evil" proactively interfere in the relationship type of plot next. I have seen too much of it in weekend dramas and I need something fresh.

Hyunjae and Haejun moments are pretty much the scenes that I look forward to each week. I can watch happily with no worries.

  21. Regarding Hyunjae's hair, I had another thought about the number of places the actor has to go to for filming. If we list out the commonly used places and if each place is a different site entirely:

-The law firm, houses (assuming they are all sets in a studio)

-The corridor leading to the lift in the law firm building

    -Stairway in law firm building

-Ground floor in law firm building

-All the outdoor filming at different places

I think it's close to common knowledge that they do not film in strict chronological order. They could be filming scenes from different episodes at the same venue in one day (just change the outfit). If there are technical issues or script rewriting, the reshoots will make the changes in hair length more frequent. To be honest, this is just a unfortunate clash in filming schedules for YSY. Hopefully, after 2 weeks of episodes, the jumping about for the hair length should be over.

  22. Going by the partial translation of the preview that I saw on twitter, it seems that Hyunjae and Mirae will have a heart to heart talk. Hopefully, that conversation does not take 2 episodes to finish and I am not sure if they will successfully resolve this conflict with what Hyunjae said at the end (the usual misleading previews).

But then, it makes me wonder what is Yujin's role in this. Is she supposed to only start something in Mirae? I saw that she had the script for eps 19-22. That's 5 more episodes, but then the appearance may end at ep19 which is 3 more. Still, if the Hyunjae-Mirae conflict ends at ep 17, is Yujin supposed to start something else after that? She only appeared once in ep16. That's not a lot of screentime to build her character.
