    @ck1Oz I love Boss and Me and rewatch it every now and then.  It was the drama that got me back into watching C-dramas and then I ventured into K-dramas with Oh My Venus, Moon Embracing the Sun and What Wong With Secretary Kim (can rewatch these often when bored). Historical dramas like Sword and Brocade and Story of Minglan are my cup of tea although I do enjoy the occasional Idol costume drama. I’m a big fan of Jane Austen type of stories with an occasional “Bridgerton” thrown in to spice it up if it’s told well. Saw a few clips of Seven Tan’s previous drama Go Ahead on YouTube...OMG...looks really good..she’s versatile...it’s going to be my next watch after this one since it’s already completed and subbed on Viki.

    Hihi, Go Ahead top my drama list for 2020.. pleaseee give a shot. For now, i m going back to My Sunshine for more HouYeh.:wub:

    Hi, i accidentally started this drama while waiting for the final episodes of another drama. I got so caught up til i finished this drama in a row. Gosh i cant wait to read the reviews and watched the bts and i m here now to share my enjoyment of the rollercoaster and sweetness overloaded by the otp. Seen ZLS in Tiger and Rose and first time watching LYS. I m totally mesmerised by every bit of his acting and expressions. Agreed that LYS is so manly and sexy both physical and voice. 

     

    As an overall, just a bit upset on GSN's naivety act with LZ towards the end and lack of showing her progress as a chef. LJ's role ended perfectly with how he handled his mother, Li Man and his plan for his brother to take over Mingting. Addicted to LYS :wub: will look for his old drama.

    I too would like to know how it relates to LJ. I suspect it could be Liu Bang was a pure warlord and defeated Xiang Yu. Or could it be Xiang Yu downfall partially caused by his concubine? The story of his concubine commited suicide is very famous. Any fan of 3 Kingdoms here to enlighten us?

    Its heartbreaking watching cp whipping wx. One side of me asking why but on the other hand explaining for cp that a human can only take this much and will get crazy for bearing too many rounds of betrayal. A betrayal is a serious offence in a the royal family. Just right after Chen and now Gu. At least he didnt react immediately and  just stayed away from the study room. 

     

    I know its hard to watch but i must say this drama is rather realistic than fairy tale like. I m a sucker for realistic plots and i do not mind sad ending though i m hoping for a happy one for this beautiful otp. 

     

    Atm, I m very curious about Xu motive.

    Cant remember clearly why the emperor decided to make her the empress? In order to save her from the crown princess incident and to protect her from cp in the future?

    I really hate the emperor here. Why on earth a father wanna make his son losing dignity to a stepmother? He is the future emperor. :rage:

    This drama is really teasing us on whether the cp knows wx identity. 

     

    My guess - at least he suspected but cant confirmed. The conversation during the fireworks made me felt like he understands why they have to keep it that way. I love when he said tell me the truth tonight and he chose to trust her there without a real answer. 

     

    Coming back to this washing area, he again asked her in a forceful way, to reveal her identity. Perhaps he just need to be sure before they get closer. But he couldnt resist her and got jealous over her having a lover's gift.

This drama likes to play with appearance vs reality so there are going to be many twists in store. I'm planning to stay with the ride till the end. The characters are all very multi-layered and give one new revelations on repeated viewings.

     

    I understand it if you like something lighter in tone. I don't normally choose heavy dramas but I find I don't really have the mood to watch other dramas while Royal Nirvana is ongoing.

    I m in the same sentiment with you. Watching Joy to Life in between but cant enjoy it fully as i m still sunken in the mood for Royal Nirvana.

     

    The break for the heartache for me this week would be the part

    The cp getting jealous knowing gu neiran has a lover and his relieve after knowing the item is related to him. 

     

    My speculation here - he suspected in many instances that gu is wenxi but he needs her to tell him. There is no point tearing her secret if she doesnt want to admit it. It may lead her to more trouble being a 'Lu' and also breaking her comfortness with him at this point. 

     

    Perhaps like the novel, her true identity will no longer be important after all.
