    Uh-oh…trouble in paradise?

      Reveal hidden contents

In what will mark his first appearance in a drama since tying the knot with Park Shin Hye last month, Choi Tae Joon will be making a special cameo in “Twenty Five, Twenty One”!

Set in 1998, “Twenty Five, Twenty One” is a tvN drama about two young people who fall in love amidst the aftermath of the IMF crisis. Kim Tae Ri stars as Na Hee Do, an aspiring fencer, while Nam Joo Hyuk stars as Baek Yi Jin, whose family was torn apart due to the financial crisis.

    Spoilers

On the previous episode of “Twenty Five, Twenty One,” Na Hee Do and Baek Yi Jin made viewers’ hearts skip a beat as they became even closer than before. While hanging out with Na Hee Do late at night, Baek Yi Jin hinted at his growing feelings for the young athlete, making viewers excited to see where their relationship was headed next.

However, the arrival of an unexpected variable may shake things up: in the drama’s upcoming episode, Choi Tae Joon will be making a special appearance as national fencer Jung Ho Jin, who will play a crucial role in the story after waltzing into Na Hee Do’s life.

In newly released stills from the drama, Jung Ho Jin seems unable to take his eyes off Na Hee Do as he smiles brightly at her. IN one of the photos, Na Hee Do returns his gaze with a warm smile of her own, piquing viewers’ curiosity as to what might develop between the two characters.

The producers of “Twenty Five, Twenty One” teased, “Within the whirlwind youth saga that is ‘Twenty Five, Twenty One,’ Choi Tae Joon will become a plot twist and unexpected key point in the story as a character who is connected to Kim Tae Ri.”

“Although his appearance is brief, he will captivate viewers with his powerful impact,” they continued, “so please look forward to his crucial role.”

Given the fact that CTJ appears as a cameo and his casting wasn’t announced till when he is just about to show up in the ep.  The same could be for mature adult YJ.  So someone shows up as a cameo late in the drama.  GongYoo?

OMG I had the exact thought!!! I was thinking the casting for a middle-aged YJ might show up in the later part of the series, and my first thought was "Gong Yoo would fit the bill". (In terms of build, height, image and also because he is from the same company as Nam Joo Hyuk) haha.

I don't know if these two will have a happy ending(I hope I am wrong).

I read the whole webtoon and the ending wasn’t the classic happy ending, but it was fitting and realistic. The characters are pretty fked up and toxic as the story progresses.

I have no issues with the drama, it was like watching the webtoon come to life. Song Kang and Han So Hee are <3 They both look good individually and together.

Although after reading the webtoon, I still do not know what is the message of the whole story LOL.

    Would appreciate some enlightenment lol

  3. What a ride! I can't believe it's been 2.5 months since I watched the premiere episode on Netflix on Feb 20 T-T

The ending was bittersweet. It was similar to CLOY's ending where they had to meet in the middle/at some event and only for a certain time period. It was 2 weeks in CLOY (i think?) and ONLY 1 DAY in Vincenzo what the fook lol but it was aligned to the theme of the show. If they ended up together happily in Korea, it makes no sense. The ending scene where they had to part at the museum with SJK and JYB looking at each other with longing eyes tugged my heartstrings.

The ending kisses were FANTASTIC!! SJK and JYB are such great kissers! They conveyed the longing and passion well. Got to say despite the bittersweet ending, I am satisfied with their arc because those kisses were just magical lol. Did you guys see how SJK kissed JYB when she leaned in for a second kiss? <3

I would need some time to get over not seeing SJK+JYB and no new episodes to look forward to anymore.

P.S KDY's acting is just *chefs kiss*. Dude needs meatier roles in the future. Before I sign off, I would like to also reiterate the fact that I do not ship actors together in real life because I know they are just doing their jobs BUT something about SJK and JYB hits different. One can only hope *winks*

  4. Episode 19 was amazing!! The first 15-20mins was hilarious!!

Jang Han Seo got shot AGAIN in the arm lol poor guy can’t catch a break. But KDY did a superb job portraying Han Seo!!

Wasn’t expecting much VinCha crumbs today but we got a little more than expected! Especially those scenes showing V’s jealousy and fear of losing CY, I rewatched them so many times lol. They kind of made up for the lack of VinCha and addressing their r/s the past few episodes.

And the last 15 mins was the highlight of episode 19! SJK’s acting was top-notch as well as JYB and KDY. Some might argue it was cliché, but love me a good cliché just for this. Hopefully the ending scene spells endgame for VinCha!!

    V better not die ugh

Goddamn @ that first ep17 still. SJK and JYB really match visually. I did not expect them to sync so well. They look better together than him and any of his previous female leads.

I have never shipped any actors, but I'm pushing the Titanic for these two.

I agree 100%. They look so compatible and good together compared to all his past female leads! And that also includes his ex-wife (sorry, I just had to hahaha)

Are they holding hands? I can’t really tell lol. JYB is still in her sandals so doesn’t appear to be filming yet. I’m happy to see SJK’s hair combed back again! He’s hot no matter what but the hair combed back is on another level.

I’m glad you’ve come around. At face value, many may think he’s just a pretty face. But in fact he’s such a talented actor. The way he’s able to convey subtle nuances with his eyes and deliver his dialogue with so much meaning. His range is very broad. In Vincenzo alone we’ve seen him play serious, comedic, action, charming and more. Just an all around talented guy. I also like that he challenges himself in his projects and didn’t stick to just the knight and shining armor type roles even though Yoo Shi Jin in DOTS was what ultimately made him shoot to stardom. I may be biased but he’s the best among actors in his tier. He’s also humble and respectful and someone who loves his family. Believe me, he has earned his fandom. :)

Oh yes, his hair all gelled up is next level charming! The recent episodes with the fringe was a step down. TBH, he still looked good, but not as good as all his hair combed backed.

It’s still so weird to me that I’m finding SJK to be alluring and smexy. Prior to Vincenzo, I never really got the hype about him- technically, he’s not bad-looking, he seems like a decent human being, and has been in some recognizable dramas, but I always presumed that most people liked him cuz of his pretty face. Not that that’s a bad thing, but the actors that I usually gravitated towards have a certain peculiar and unique charm to them, even if they may not be considered as traditionally handsome (think Ryu Junyeol and Shin Hakyun.) But oh DAMN do I get it now. I am fully on board the SJK bandwagon. More than anything else, it’s the way he is able to convey so much through his eyes, even in a single scene. And ...his pretty face and broad shoulders and smolder and the fact that he is paired with the inimitable JYB YES I AM A BELIEVER

on that note, let the countdown to Saturday begin!Donald Glover Waiting GIF

No you're not alone. Prior to Vincenzo, I have never found SJK that attractive (pretty boy, yes) or paid ANY attention to him from his debut to his peak aka DOTS (it was also partly because DOTS was blehh + cheesy af and he was married to SHK then and well, i am not a fan of songsong or the show).

Arthdal made me acknowledge his versatility and ability as an actor but that's about it. Oh, and it was the first drama of SJK that I watched properly.

I mentioned this before, I am not sure if it's because of his role as Vincenzo or because he went through a lot in his personal life (and thus has a "darker" aura ever since), but I do find him very attractive right now, as the titular character and irl! Could be the styling, could be the role, could be his personal life struggles that molded him into the 2021 him now or everything. Either way, I am onboard the 2021 SJK ship LOL.

omg I was coming here to celebrate too!! haven’t watched it but I saw spoilers. how was it?? passionate?

Yes it was passionate!! The build-up and the actual scene was just marvellous! Every single nuance, expression and action was perfectly acted out and shot. Especially their eyes and body language, wow. I could really feel them finally giving in to their pent-up feelings!! <3

Kudos to SJK and JYB, its hard to not ship their characters and also them irl but I got to remind myself they are just doing their jobs. A job very well done indeed lol.

There were many other crumbs of VinCha throughout ep 14, dream come true for all the shippers! Like how V continued calling CY “sweetie” subconsciously even while getting down to serious business ^_^

And the Italian mafia came Korea much earlier than I predicted!!

I would bet money that VC is fake crying in the episode 13 preview. The crying is so over the top he looks like he took crying lessons from CY.

BTS for episodes 11 & 12 is out. Damn, this was lightning fast compared to the 84 years we waited for episodes 9 & 10's BTS last week. Not complaining though.

    ning

I bet it was fake crying too, it looked so HCY-ish hahah. And Yes, I was shocked to see the BTS floating around so soon when I went into twitter! Just waiting for the translations and I’m glad they gave us the BTS of the two most memorable scenes in ep 11 and 12! ㅋㅋㅋ

  11. Saw some theories on other sites - Instead of the Gold being lost to Mr Cho, what if the Gold is actually fake and the real valuable item is actually the file that could expose all the corrupt and dirty deeds in Korea? That could explain Vincenzo's "crying" in the preview lol. That would be a pretty good plot twist. Poor Vincenzo and all the money and effort he spent on trying to get the Gold only to find out it was fake LOL. T-T

And I am expecting the Italian Mafia to make their way to Korea towards the end of the show due to what V said when he was flying back "Don't try to find me" or something like that. That's drama foreshadowing lol (We have 8 more episodes, if the remaining is still Babel-Wusang-Secret file, it's still watchable but it would start to seem draggy)

And I'm onboard with the opinions on the other sites as well, please get the side romance moving a little faster!! Everyone is getting impatient with all the fake-outs! *cries*

Or get them acting in some Melo/Rom Com together in the future!! Although that possibility is close to 0 because Kdramas hardly repeat pairings :( Such a waste, really.

Is anyone else annoyed at the director for instructing JYB to act over the top as CY, which has resulted in JYB catching all the flack for her exaggerated acting in the early episodes? I watched the BTSes and JYB's initial portrayal of CY was very natural, but the director kept telling her to be more over-the-top, and now she's getting flack for it. I hope they heard the viewer feedback and adjusted the directing and acting accordingly.

    @razielaSo far we've seen:

    - The kid's skills revealed (video-taping and YT-hosting)

    - Mr. Lee and his wife's skills revealed

    - The tailor's skills revealed

    - Mr. An's skills revealed

How many more tenants do we have to go through?

Me!!! It’s not even her fault and she really is a good actress but she bore the brunt of the “over-the-top acting” when it wasn’t even how she wanted to portray the character in the first place. Felt for her because I really do like her as an actress and her as a person (from the snippets we see of her online).

And thanks everyone for providing your inputs on the hug scene, it was a good read. Guess I personally wanted V to show more than what he was doing with his facial expressions and hand and also because the already-very-little crumbs were even lesser in ep 11.

See you guys for episode 12!

    @holyfeaI'm gonna diiiiiieeee... kyaaa...

I love that CY is trying to look for more comfortable positions in his arms, and VC could only stand still and bear the "assault".. lol

Aww..Our mafia-nim is in love! Whipped and smitten! He is finding it hard to contain his feelings each day! Ottoke...

So we were right, Wusang use VC identity as Mafia to distort law to get rid off him..

Even though I knew nothing is going to happen when that scene was first released before the actual episode, it felt underwhelming watching it :(  And those stone-cold uncomfortable looks and smiles from V were not helping much either.

It felt like he was more of "Ok what's going on..?" but half-enjoying it at the same time. As much as I appreciate the slow-burn romance which isn't the focus of the story, it's starting to get a little exasperating with CY always being the more initiative one and V is just "going with the flow" without any initiative or expressions. At this point of time I honestly do not even know if the romance is even going to be a thing.

Could be an unpopular opinion but that's what I felt from this episode. Feel free to agree with or tell me otherwise haha. sigh! :/

P.S. i still enjoy the drama a lot but stop playing with the viewers' expectations and feelings! lol

    Pre release clip Episode 11

People are going crazy over that clip thinking they may kiss. But looking how the previous episodes go, i bet it's just gonna end up as comic antics from CY. She's the joy of the show anyway.

Right!! But based on whatever had happened so far, a kiss is definitely out of the question. Just hope she does not puke on him or something omg hahahah

Newbie here, hello! wow, never in my life did I think I would be as heavily invested in a drama as I am with this one. Don’t get me wrong; I’ve enjoyed the occasional drama here and there, and even have a couple that I return to every so often (looking at you, « Prison Playbook »). But Vincenzo is the first one that I’ve felt the zealous urge to not only watch as it’s airing but also talk about why it’s so great with other people. It took very little for me to cave in and create this account.

Honestly, I could drone on and on about what makes this drama infinitely special, but everyone has already been saying what I want to say here. the music, the cinematography, the cast and their mesmerizing chemistry (I will take down anyone who dares to mess with our favorite couple yes) the side characters and their role in the main story- everything. I can’t wait to see how they take the story from here, now that everyone knows who the real Big Baddie is. Not to mention that judging from the preview for the next episode, Chayoung will be confronted with Vincenzo’s past. Like someone said before in the thread, I’m sure she can look past his Mafia self to see the man he is striving to become. HNNNGGG PLEASE LET THE WEEKEND COME FASTER

Welcome! I know exactly how you feel! I myself logged into my account again after >5 years haha. It's been years since I last had the same zealous urge to not only watch a show while it's airing but also talk about it with other people and ship the main leads :) (and bear in mind this is not even a rom-com, in fact, I don't even ship actual rom-com leads to this extent or even at all LOL)

  16. That unexpected hug at the end!! And them staring at each other while sleeping on the table!!!

I really, really felt Cha Young’s desperation and feelings when she was trying to call Vincenzo with tears in her eyes but to no avail. Idk what to call it but it felt like she could not and did not want to lose him.

That was a really great scene by JYB and it deserves a mention!

Also, I laughed more than I expected to at our 4 main villains laughing at each other while VinCha & gang were trying to whistleblow them online LOL

  17. Another great episode! And I am glad they ended up with cha young staying over at vincenzo’s place (although she invited herself in lolll). I seriously wasn’t expecting the additional crumbs of Vincenzo & Cha Young but they were <3

    1. Scene where he tackled her to protect her

2 Scene in the car where she thought he was going to do something to her but he just wanted to open the door to let her out (and the BG music Adrenaline made that scene fluttering and funny at the same time)

    3. Ramen and H2H talk scene

    4. Scene where he casually caressed her shoulder in the office like its the most natural thing to do

Loving how dark the story is getting too.

Yeah it does look like Vincenzo is comforting Cha Young is those stills @chuu18 I wonder what happened?.

Haha yes. But if they throw in a comforting hug, I think we would all lose it ^~^

I have so many questions leading up to that scene too. Like who hired that guy to attack her? How did he get into her place? Why did Vincenzo return despite leaving after she went in? Is he going to stay the night or invite her to his place for safety reasons? Etc etc etc.

  19. I wonder where these stills are coming from! Got to say it was slightly different from what I imagined. I imagined Cha Young  getting slightly hurt and Vincenzo would be tending to her wounds while she looks on visibly shakened with a few tears here and there. Vincenzo would also hug her softly as a way of comforting her. Then things turn serious as she vows to find out who did this to her HAHHAHA

    Can’t wait!!

It warms my heart seeing JYB getting so much love on the thread now

Yes, this is a great opportunity for JYB. She was incredible in Be Melodramatic but that was quite a small drama so I'm so happy she is getting more exposure here and gaining so many new fans.  KSC was a perfect special appearance!  I didn't know this but he is friends with SJK from his previous drama, Arthdal, so maybe that made the scenes easier haha. The tenants are just tiresome.  I am not interested in them unless they are helping Jipuragi team with their revenge plans.  Their scenes are just too loud and go on for too long without adding anything.

I get that he is doing things behind the scenes but from a dramatic angle it just isn't very compelling. The character needs to be more dynamic especially as he is portrayed as this mercurial character but, aside from the chilling flashback where he supervises killing his father, he doesn't DO anything except boss around and bully the two senior lawyers and his little brother.  Even if they just gave him more scenes with Cha Young so the audience can enjoy the duality of intern JJW vs Chairman JJJW and become even more hurt for CY that her friend is secretly plotting against her but the drama even cut those interactions this week.  Also why couldn't he just be an intern and learn about the law? Why does he need to hide his identity or play dumb?

So far I find Han Seo a more interesting character probably because Kwak Dong Yeon is a stronger actor. Anyway, it looks like JJW is going to be more active this week so, hopefully, he will make more of a mark.

This!  I find the gang funnier and we usually get the bonus of cool action from Vincenzo in their scenes.  In the beginning, I thought the tenants were going to be fleshed out but now it's clear they are just there to be gag characters which seems unnecessary with all the other humour and funny characters in the drama.  My favorite supporting comic characters is also Mr Nam. He is hilarious and so endearing^_^  I like the NIS agent and his Vincenzo fanboying but I sometimes find the positioning of his scenes disruptive.  From the residents, I like the Buddhist monks and piano lady isn't as obnoxious as the other tenants. As I said, I wouldn't mind the GP residents so much if they were just there to help with the revenge and make a few funny comments in the background but they get way too much time for pointless scenes like gold hunting or eating dinner whilst the drama cuts VC/CY/JW and HS scenes who are actually leading characters.

Very good post!  JYB was certainly placed in a difficult position on the heels of the Song-Song couple and subsequent divorce drama (on Naver I still see trolls commenting mocking his divorce as if it is something to be ashamed of:rolleyes:) and playing an atypical female lead as a newbie actress to most of the audience.  Fortunately, after Papa Hong's death:tears: she is able to show the different facets of her character and Cha Young really grew on the audience. JYB is doing an excellent job and nobody else could play Hong Cha Young.  I agree there were a couple of places she could tone it down but I blame the director.  From the BTS the director is very hands-on so she is the one who wants it that way. JYB is very modest and not the most confident in herself or her appearance so I was really worried for how she must have felt when she was getting so much criticism in the first couple of weeks but now she is getting a lot of love (and she has SJK to remind her she is pretty:D)

Welcome to the thread :waves: There is really something special about this drama!  I think you are the third person I have seen start posting again because of Vincenzo drama and-especially-our Vincenzo and Cha Young couple.  Excellent post and I love your analysis of the characters and their actions!  I agree the slow burn is the best and the way their interactions have become more and more comfortable, familiar and...intimate is perfect. Also how they were just casually sharing one bowl in the tteokbokki restaurant or he brought her fave "iced sewage/Americano" when he got her out of jail in episode 7, how Vincenzo held Cha Young's purse at the station and how he walked her home in episode 8:fullofhearts:

I am so excited we are getting a loveline given the writer's previous dramas haven't really incorporated romance. i'm glad this drama won't waste SJK and JYB's hotness and incredible chemistry:wub:

I feel like they have been teasing this in the previews for the last couple of weeks but it's always some other bedbound character.  At this point, I think it is a red herring especially as nobody besides Vincenzo knows who she really is to him.

Can you share the link to the naver site? I don’t have a naver account so I do not know how to navigate or find the drama discussion section and I believe the comments should be in Korean?

I would like to see what the knetizens views are on SJK and JYB’s chemistry and the show as well ^~^
