Second paragraph: I appreciate the information, but they aren't relevant to the points I've been making nor are what I've been concerned with throughout this discussion.
Yes, you never said "YEH should win" and I did read your post carefully. As long as it was fair, you would respect the result if she wins. You even said that if SHK wins, you're not that rejoiced because it is not fair. Again, how fair is it when you are not even sure if YEH's fans do not "recrutit"?
You concluded that it's obviously the race between YEH and SHK and that's why my second paragraph was written. If you read it carefully, I said "if you have to compare". How is it irrelevant when I just responded to what you wrote.
Also, you said that you just joined Soompi not too long ago. I just wanted to ask how much do you know about Soompi? How much have your learned from it? What do you know about the previous Soompi Queen polls? Or did you learn about them from your friends/people you know or did you go back to the polls and read all the posts?

If fans of other actresses are doing the exact same thing, then they are better at hiding it than people here are in this thread. Either way, it doesn't make what is being done any less wrong.
It is obvious the race is between SHK and YEH. I have made it clear in the soompi queen thread itself that I would prefer SHK to win over YEH, because I do believe SHK is more deserving of her popularity - public image, talent and beauty considered. However, if YEH were to have won, I would respect that. Both Goong and her role in it made an impact on soompi and its community this 2006, that's too obvious to deny. If the votes reflect that, eventhough it wouldn't have been my choice, I wouldn't object, because at least it would have been fair.

So, based on the fact that you are SHK's fan and that you've seen what's been going only in this thread but not other actresses' threads, you called that unfair? And because Goong and YEH's role, she should have won and you would respect that.
If you have to compare these two actresses, SHK's thread is faster going than YEH's. Impact is that people have a lot to discuss about Song Hye Kyo than just one role in a hit drama. Full House is still going strong and I love that fact. Aza Aza Fighting.

I don't think we missed your point or overlooked it. Why are we, SHK's fans, targeted? How are you so sure about other actresses' fans not "recruiting"? SHK has a lot of fans and many of us do not usually vote in this kinda poll. I, myself, stopped voting a long time ago because I found it pointless. If this Soompi Queen poll is a tradition and created by Soompi moderator, then I'll vote and that's official. Don't you think that the poll starter already had someone in mind when she started the poll?
You talked about being unfair when you pointed your finger at us but not other actresses' fans.
Do you know what impacts Soompi? Fans participation. Having one drama showing this year does not entitle the actress Queen of Soompi. Do you know that we still passionately discuss Full House after two years? Have you ever visited Autumn Tale thread and see what we do in there? How about All In thread? Song Hye Kyo does not have any drama this year but she has always been the talk of the town first because her debut movie My Girl and I and now Hwangjini and the whole debate about whether she is too conservative for the role. And if you still do not think that that's an impact, then it's understandable that you wrote such comment/opinion.
Not to offend you but your statement made me wonder if you're mad because SHK's votes suddenly increased or because the one you wanted to see win defeated by her. At least that's the thoughts I got after reading your post.

I'm probably one of the most silent SHK's fans. I visit this forum several times a day but almost never post anything.
I just want to have a few words about the new soompi queen vote thing. It is a gimmick to trick famous actresses' fans, especially SHK's. My thought is, if they want their idol (you know who) to win so desperately, let them have it all this time. I used to participate in whatever poll with SHK but after a while, I found it pointless. I stopped voting for her a long time ago. She is our queen that's what matters.
If all of SHK's fans agree on not voting, the poll is worthless. What do others think when SHK does not get any vote and other much less famous actresses get like a whole bunch? They win but it is not a victory.

Thank you for the thread. She is a wonderful actress. Love her in Into the Storm - her best performance IMO. And Hotelier, she and BYJ make the most beautiful couple. They are so compatible: looks, talent, manner and all that you name.
Also in Present, I think she looks pretty cute with Park Chung Chul.

hey everyone..i just got done reading some posts from the korean music thread.. in the forum about celebrity counters, people had negative things about our shg... kinda makes me mad and i don't believe what they are saying
i hope you all don't believe it because in my opinion she just looks so shy and private that's why these people considered her a snob. this is what they are saying:"I have heard similar stories that SHG is a cold person in interviews and she was not very nice to a fan upon a meeting. SHG is worshipped too much at soompi so people assume that she is nice and friendly. I don't know if she is or not but I will when I have the chance to meet her. Gosh people here treat her as if she is a goddess or something. I used to like her a lot and I still do but I am annoyed that people keep going on and on about her beauty."

"I read in another forum before that there was this Korean-American girl who met Song Hye Gyo in San Francisco (SHG took a break after FH ended and studied English in SF) so this girl was picking up her cousin at the airport and when her cousin came out from the arrival hall, her cousin told her that SHG was on the same flight from Korea... so after a couple of minute this girl saw SHG coming out from the arrival hall she was with some older lady or something and they were just standing around waiting at the airport. this girl happen to be a fan of SHG so she came up to SHG and was like speaking in Korean saying how she's a big fan of her and loved all her dramas, etc... and she said SHG gave her attitude.. she just looked at da girl for a few seconds.. didn't smile and looked away... the girl was kinda surprised so she just stop talking and asked for SHG's autograph instead, she said SHG took her notebook scribbled her autograph and gave it back without even looking at her and the whole time SHG didn't say anything not a word. the girl was kinda dissappointed cuz she's a fan of SHG and besides it was in da states.. it's not like other people at the airport recognized her or something.

I am not afraid to say that I am one of those who worship SHK. So what? That's what a normal thing a fan would do to his/her idol. Every one else does yet, they complain about SHK's fans only. What kind of sense does that make? If they have the rights to think that Kim Tae Hee and Han Ga In are prettier than SHK, why can't we, SHK's fans, have the rights to think that they are uglier?
I remember reading somewhere about Han Ga In and her husband being arrogant with a fan at an airport. Still, her fans are supporting her because they believe in her. That's what we, SHK's fans, are supposed to do and we in fact have been doing so.

The creator of this thread had corrected a few times that it was a wrong word. She meant that the relationship btw a priest and a girl is wrong. Clearly, no incest here.

I like this drama. It was fairly good. All three main artists performed very well. Ji Jin Hee was awsome as a villain. Jo Hyun Jae was a little different here, and he did a good job especially when he's debating his love between God and the girl. Soo Ae was cute and you can see her transformation from a highschool student to a graduate and doctor. Well performed by her. It was not Ji Jin Hee's but Soo Ae's character annoyed the hell out of me at some parts. The last two eps. were very touching. I cried almost at every scene (well, except for the one where JHJ and JJH bathing. For some reason, I could not help laughing.) But overall, it's a good drama to watch. Well, I watched it because of Jo Hyun Jae.
Earlier someone said the characters a bit too old. I think if Choi Ji Woo and Bae Yong Joon can be highschool students, everybody else does not really matter that much.

My favorite: When Eun Suh finds out that Jun Suh is attempting to comit suicide should she die, she made him promise her that he has to live to take care of the parents and everybody else. Jun Suh, however, says that he cannot promise her. "If you die, how am I going to live. Don't you think it's heartless of you to ask me to live alone?"
Another favorite, although it's kinda plain: Jun Suh rushes back from seeing his girlfriend off just to say good night to Eun Suh. "Eun Suh, good night. I have always wanted to wish you a good night" then he cries.
I can go on forever. But I'm pretty sure that Autumn Tale die hard fans will fill in with lots a lots and lots more. So, I'll stop.

I have a question. What type of role would you like Hye Kyo to take on for her next film? What sort of story should her next movie have?
I would love to see her as a beautiful but clumsy farm girl whose beauty is un-noticed because of, well..., clumsiness.

Is it enough proof that she never had plastic surgery? I remember reading in her old thread, someone said that as much as he/she loves SHG, he/she believes that SHG did go under the knife, that her eyelids could not suddenly become doubled, and her nose could not naturally become sharper.
Unless SHG had surgery before she turned 14, this picture should confirm her status of natural beauty. Is any one here with me on this?

When watching the Japanese hit movie, "Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World," it's hard not to cry - sophisticated acting, a refined screenplay and a resonant theme combine to create a lasting impression. By contrast, when watching the Korean remake "My Girl and I," it's hard to cry.
Well, if you really want to cry watching the Korean version of the melodrama, it's probably safe to cry over the lower-than-expected quality of the movie itself, not because of some moving scenes that tug at your heartstrings.
"My Girl and I" features the well-known plot of an ill-fated couple. Su-ho (Cha Tae-hyeon) is a plain high school boy, and Su-eun (Song Hye-kyo) is a bright and beautiful girl in the same school. For some unknown reason, Su-eun has a crush on the boy, and for equally mysterious reasons she rescues Su-ho in the sea (though he doesn't know who actually saved him).
In the process, Su-eun loses her pager. When she discloses the relationship with Su-ho at school, despite envy and disbelief from other classmates, she asks Su-ho to buy her a pager so that they can communicate with each other through voice messages - a secret communication channel since So-eun's parents are quite strict. The way the couple develops affection is bearable, helped by images of a beautiful seaside village and equally enchanting coastlines. Supporting characters like Su-ho's grandfather (Lee Soon-jae) jazz up the otherwise too simplified storyline.
But soft and cartoonish images that reflect Korean local features in Geojae Island are all there is to see. The movie's plot doesn't provide any surprise or meaningful twist that is comparable to the Japanese version by director Isao Yukisada which sold more than 10 million tickets.
In the second half of the movie, especially after Su-eun comes down with a fatal disease, the plot only just moves forward. Even when the story trudges along, the characters and their acting are not that convincing - all the more so if you already watched the Japanese version.
The biggest problem is director Jeong Yoon-soo's strategy to use a safe path only. He succeed in casting two of the country's top-rated actors, and when it comes to the rising female star Song Hye-kyo, this is her debut feature film.
Song's debut for the silver screen through this movie attracted much media attention, something that definitely boosted the profile of the film itself among the public. But the director relied too much on the two actors while failing to upgrade the story itself in comparison with the Japanese rendition.
Rather the Korean version is far inferior to the Japanese movie in every respect. The actors are less believable: Cha, who is 29 years old, plays a high school student, and Song's hospital scene is utterly unrealistic because her hair remains intact (in the Japanese version, the female character's hair is lost due to a terminal illness).
The pager is also problematic. In the opening scene, it is submerged in the sea and the camera shows where it is, as if it will be used in the plot again. But Su-eun's pager, the very item that bolsters their relationship, will be never used or discovered again in the film, leaving viewers scratching their heads. In a well-made melodrama, all the items linked to relationships are supposed to have some meanings, but in "My Girl and I," such romantic items are less utilized in a cinematic sense.
The bigger issue is the broader theme. In the original, the female character wants to pull off her dream - visiting Uluru in Australia, the sacred ground of Aboriginals or what she calls "the center of the world."
In the Korean version, there's no such "center of the world." Nor is there any memorable song that can be compared to Japanese singer Ken Hirai's "Hitomi Wo Tojite," which evokes powerful emotions at the end of the Japanese film.
In the post-preview news conference, both Cha and Song said they haven't watched the Japanese movie in order to focus on their roles and create their own style. They should have watched "Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World." It's not too late. If they watch the Japanese version now, they will definitely cry a lot - for unromantic reasons.

The critic was just being ridiculous. "My Girl and I" is an adaptation not a remake of the Japanese movie. It does not neccesarily 100% copy the original. Besides, why do people have to cry buckets watching it? That's why it's called "My Girl and I" but not "Crying out Love in the Center of the World." I am from the US and just cannot wait for it to be availble in DVD.
One little suggestion for her die hard fans, though. In earlier post, someone asked if he/she could download the movie. I think this is the time we show our support for the lovely actress by not downloading her debut project. Go watch the movie if you are in Korea; or buy it when it's released in DVD. That's what I'm going to do.

We were watching Her House and my 14 yr old cousin stopped by and she was like, "Oh my God, how on earth can a man be that hot and cute." Of course she was referring to LSJ. That was the first time we got to watch him. Than Damo, Firebird, and Shooting the Stars, in each of the dramas he gives his full potential to portrait the characters. So well that I even got scared watching him in Shooting the Stars. Very talented actor. It's a waste of books learning that he does not make use of his degree but well because of that we have a great actor to watch and adore. Support him no matter what.

After Song Hye Gyo and Song Yun Ah, Ha Ji Won is anothe true beauty, well, to me of course. Her recent pix with KDW are stunning. Not alot of people can pull of images like she does in those pix-sporty yet elegant. I wish she be casted in BYJ's new drama "Great King's Four Gods"

This girl is amazing especially in Damo. Her actions seem so natural and so real. I don't know wether she knows martial arts but she plays the role convincingly. Heard Duelist is doing very well too. Can't wait until it's released in DVD.
Bali is another great performance of Ha Ji Won. Great actress and very beautiful as well. Can I call myself her fan? I guess I can.

I am so glad that soompi is up and working again and so is Song Hye Gyo's thread; always happy to be here. Her pix always make my day. She is the prettiest Asian actress, well at least to me, and very talented as well.
