  1. I am very pleased with this drama so far. They did a great job with set and make up. There is proper amount of dirt for a time of chaos and none of that super clean and crispy outfit.

During the earlier episodes, I though AEJ did not quite have the look of a Joseon noble. I thought she looked to modern. But now that tragedy has happened and she is trying survive just like any other person, she looked way better. Gil Chae looked younger in rags than in silk, so it is easier for me to believe that she is still a young person. AEJ is doing an awesome job in this drama.

NM is also a gem on the screen. He is so smooth as the scoundrel-like JH you just can't help but fall for him. I do wish they had a different actor for NYJ though. At least someone more younger so that we can believe youth is the reason for his naivete.

  2. When I first heard about this drama, I cringed due to the title. My Dearest? How tacky... But with NGM and AEJ at the helm, it can't be that tacky if they decided to sign up, right? Some people said this drama is like Gone with the Wind and I can see why.

So far, YGC has been an interesting character. She is vain, conceited and manipulative, but we also see loyalty, strength and street smarts in her. The way she led the girls is reminiscent of Heidi. She was smart enough to cover their tracks, she delivered a baby and she jumped to save her maid when she herself was in a dangerous situation. I bet the maid was extremely relieved when YGC said she'll catch the next boat. And despite her designs for NYJ, I'm pretty sure that she doesn't intend to cause hurt to EA.

Not much has been revealed about LJY. We know that he had a personal tragedy, his relationship with the grandpa is still a mystery and what is the reason he hates marriages?

I can't wait for the next episode!

  3. I did a marathon watch of the first season to rekindle how KDJ is. I mean, of all 3 seasons, KDJ is still the best/most developed character in the Romantic Dr universe. I forgot how hotheaded  and stern he was because I confused KDJ with AJW (Hospital Playlist) for awhile. Both are doctors, but very very different in personality.

Comparing KDJ with SWJ, the former is louder and is more of a challenge while the latter is more silent and steadfast. SWJ respects and likes KSB so much that KSB can practically do no wrong in his eyes, so when KSB placed his utmost faith in KDJ, SWJ is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because of his own trust in KSB. I don't detect jealousy but curiosity.

CEJ is probably the most brash character in the Romantic Dr world and she is also prone to be more judgemental. Likely a product of a spoilt upbringing. Rather than trying to communicate with KDJ she decided to create camps despite that man only shortly arrived in Doldam. Her character development hasn't been the strongest in both seasons. Her character is not too different from YSJ actually. Their temperments are similar except YSJ's style is more quiet and dignified while CEJ is more of a stamp-foot-when-unhappy kind.

I'm also a bit pissed that there weren't any mention of YSJ to KDJ - are they no longer together? Logically speaking they should be married now since it is about 6 years from the end of S1.

It does seem that JDH is related to KSB's dead patient-student JHJ. JHJ was a 3rd year student in 1998. Let's say 'today ' is 2022, that is 24 years apart. So how old is JDH?

Anyhow, I find Dr PMG being supebly under utilised as character and doctor, which is a shame. And I hope the cute couple will make up and get back together in the next episode.

  4. After yesterday's episode I'm curious about JDH. He said he was curious about Doldam. Why? He said he wants a relaxed life but unwillingly became a doctor because of his parents. And despite more opportunities in big cities he came all the way to Doldam because he was curious. About what? And the fact that he listens to a walkman instead of an mp3 player meant there is possibly a link between him and somebody in Doldam's past.

There's also seemed to be a theme about family this season. CEJ's dad is the new Trauma Centre boss. We learnt about JIS's daughter. The first case included a family from North Korea and that offhand comment that NDI knows all about Master Kim's family when they thought Byul might be his daughter.

I have a feeling that the walkman was probably Master Kim's in the past OR the cassette in it has the same song compilation as the cassette in his radio in his room. Either KSB helped his parents in the past, or it could be one of those story where KSB grew up in an orphanage and he passed the walkman/cassette to someone close to him.

No idea really.... but I'm intrigued.

I wonder if ChoWol was pregnant when she and the prince Muan broke up.

It doesn't seem like their relationship is sexual. Maybe that's why CW asked if Prince Muan sees her as a woman.

Is it possible with so few episodes left that CW could have another identity?

And what was the gossip that Concubine Tae spread at the village?

  6. We are still early into the plot, but I'm gonna throw a guess that Grand Prince Mu Ahn will be the next crown prince! Ahahahaaa.....

I just think Grang Prince Seong Nam is just too rigid, too tense and I think he has a free spirit. If Chung Ha really develops into his love interest, I will feel more strongly about this too. On the other hand, Mu Ahn's love interest, the courtesan (?) Cho Wol seemed to have a more dignified or should I say queenly attitude? Mu Ahn is still young, so it is not shocking to see him preferring to enjoy life than thinking about nation's problems.

I loved the short scene we had between the king and queen where she told him that she is okay so he need not be concerned. I think between them there is genuine love and respect - they did have 5 children together - but I suppose due to palace politics the king can never be mutually exclusive to one woman.

Had we not had the revelation about Prince Bogum, I would view him as a worthy contender of the CP position. I felt disappointed with him today, because even he

    Spoiler

looked down on his own mother. His mother will want to help him, of course. But she entered the game too soon with not enough preparation. Things might turn bad.

In the next few episodes, we will surely have the plague woven into the plot. The premise was already set when the young princes sneaked out to the village. Maybe there will be a revelation about Master Toji.

My, my Concubine Hwang.  What a surprise! While I do expect something from the baddie, that was unexpected.

With regards to the CP's son - how evil must they be to do that? Whose people are the culprits?

  7. I've been away from k-drama for almost a year, but this one looked interesting enough to watch. I liked the first 2 episodes but KHS's make up is a bit distracting. I still get the princes mixed, but I totally like Prince Muahn. While I don't believe he is womaniser, I think he is mere a social butterfly - like V from BTS. He seemed to get along well with all the other princes and is the kind that says whatever he thinks.

It's also fun to see how close the brothers are, and how easy going their relationship with the queen is. They all cringed at the queens sudden gentleness and began to push her buttons until their "real" fierce mother reappeared. That was quite funny to watch!

  8. The episodes gets crazier and crazier... Phoebe might actually get blacklisted again!

What's with SDM's obsession with corset buttons on his jackets??? And a furry, feathery tux? His outfits sure gave me the biggest laughter! He really scored with the one night stand eh? Relieved with SPY's wedding look. Better than the S2 finale. I am surprised with the pregnancy news though... she always look hesitant whenever SDM mentioned about having a baby.

Is LSE confirmed preggers? I had a feeling the drama might follow this route when HG asked her about having a baby, but I always thought that SB was actually impotent... I am happy for them, I just want the drama to have a normal, reasonable ending instead of a super duper happy one.

They totally hate BHR, don't they? I really wish a good ending for her.

  9. I have a theory about SB. This is due to his dad's overly sad reaction about his regret about not having SB's kid as his first grandchild.

I think SB has an illness since he was a child, where he will not be able to have his own children in the future. So SB's dad divorce his first wife and married the second one for the continuity of lineage. He heard  from dad that the 2nd wife is hoping to have closer relationship with SB - so maybe she does not feel threatened by his condition. Because her own son will be carrying the family line.

  10. PJM is sooo pretty. Her "make up free" face actually looked make up free. I'm sure there's make up but at least it looked believable.

Between the 3 leading ladies, wasn't SPY's marriage the one that is the most sexually active? I mean up until the point when SPY found out about YS's affair they had several sexy moments right? So it shouldn't be surprising to see her enjoying the current courtship. If I'm not mistaken, she also fantasized a kiss from SB in past season.

I'm looking at the SPY/SDM development as her enjoying her freedom as a single women. Her romance is different from the LSE/SB romance which was more about comfort or familiarity. Even SB was skeptical about love, he values the comfort aspect more. Though I don't know which direction are we heading with BHR. Could it be regret or reflection?

  11. Weird, weird episode. More ghost.

I kind of like SPY/SDM moments. But realistically speaking, he is overbearing and they are progressing too fast. However, I honestly don't mind if this couple end up on the altar OR breaking up. If it were the latter, I hope it is to signify that SPY won't let divorce stop her from having relationships while SDM will learn not to be a heartbreaker.

I don't know where is Phoebe is going with the ghost, or with DongMi. And I really home all the divorced ladies get a happy ending - whether with a new love or none.

I agree PHR is a scum of a man. But I don't want suicide from any of the characters. Let them live in regret. That is more satisfying.

  12. I really need to watch ep 6 again. Especially the SPY/SDM parts. Their scene kind of mirrored the loooong talk between SPY/SYS last season, when he was spouting all that nonsense after she wanted a divorce. SDM's arguments were almost as nonsensical as SYS's, and he was way to frank for a first date, but honestly during that scene, I felt like I was SPY.

So putting myself in her shoes, here I have this attractive younger man who is trying to convince me that I should marry him, using such weird arguments, in a super weird environment. It initially felt creepy, but later felt humourous, there's is also a tinge of embarrassment, a little bit of wonder, moments of feeling offended, a sense of danger, confusion and excitement but basically, even though I'm not exactly sold that I want to marry this guy, I'm curious enough to still want to see him again!

You know, SDM literally swept SPY off her feet! And I think she totally didn't expect this as she is still newly divorced. If this persistent attitude is also demonstrated at work, maybe that is why he is viewed as a capable heir. In the span of 24 hours (maybe less!), he has managed to score a date, presented a proposal, hold SPY's hand, meet the future stepdaughter, have second date (themepark) and get a passionate kiss! He is like a tornado! And it's just so surreal but so fun to see.

And now I feel so afraid of what will happen when big bro finds out about this!

  13. Barf moments of the ep in no particular order:

    1. DongMi romantic fantasy

    2. Shower scene - of ghost gramps!

My oh my isn't SDM just like his brother when pursuing a girl? I did like their  scene though. I thought PY was classy and I definitely don't have a hard time to believe he is attracted. I actually think he was already attracted when they first met at the golf course because his reaction was like thunderstruck. But I still don't get the screaming/crying part.

I'm hoping, really hoping that the proposal is not a dream sequence coz I wanna see how Phoebe will explain this weird development.

  14. First barf scene of the season - a shower scene. Of 50s HUSBAND! Ewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!

EEEEWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! Ewwwwww!!!! My eyes!! Oh my eyes!!!!!!!

Anyway, 50s husband is despicable. It's his face that have a problem. He ain't bedridden. His limbs are pretty fine. Why did he allow 50s wife to clean his trash? Doesn't he feel embarrassed in ANY way? I'm glad 50s wife was cold towards him. I'm with Hyanggi - she should leave her ex on his own. But we do know the ex is so used to being pampered. Heck! Even his car was purchased by his poor wife!

  15. I agree physically SB is NOT attractive. Then you also have that robotic line delivery. But I suppose people are holding on to the idea that he is attractive because he isn't a cheating, lying scum like the other men. I don't know if it is intentional to have him appear cold and uninterested, but the little smiles he gave out especially related LSE does give me butterflies. But that is because I think he has a crush on her. I would feel angry and dissappointed if he was merely leading her on. This is afterall a Phoebe drama. He could appear all dreamy right now, but in just a second he could turn out to be the guys with the biggest vandetta! Who knows? Maybe LSE caused him trauma when they were kids? Or maybe his beef is against LSE's sister? Hahaha... And I still haven't forgot S2 finale - when he got married to a busty SW-lookalike.

Now, the brother SDM. We knew he dumped NGB. It doesn't seem like he cheated, but he left because he wasn't readey to settle down or something. Now he is getting back with his marriage-breaker-ex-girlfriend-now-fiancee. So I don't know if he is a "good" guy or a bad guy. SB talks about him fondly and they do have a great step-sibling relationship, so I'd like to at least think he is not a jerk. I wouldn't want SPY marrying a cheater if they do plan to have him married to SPY.

I want to address SW's strange passing. Is it common practice to leave the dead's eyes open? That's kind of creepy...

So what's??? i am very surprised, I did not expect that, so the writers decided to separate from this character, while the actress was still valid, so already one of the weddings from the end of season 2 will not take place, unless there is a twin or a look-alike who appears :byebye2:

Wow! Great mind think alike! Exactly my thoughts!

I'm liking the moments between Engineer Seo and Writer Lee. SB is quite cute when he gave those little smiles. And LSE looked very pretty and classy when she dresses up. I like the actress playing LSE the best. Her delivery of the cheesy script is the best among the cast, her lines sound natural. I also agree with HG's advice "Do not waver!"

I'm most excited to see the encounter between the most shocking bridal couple in S2 finale in the next episodes. Hopefully the writer won't disappoint this time.

  17. The drama ended cleanly, albeit a little rushed... I too was confused by the hostility towards Dr Jang.

After Ghost Doctor and Law School, I will certainly be looking at Kim Bum's past and future projects. I think he shone brighter than Rain whenever they were together in a scene and he certainly did well whenever GST was in CYM mode.

I feel sad for Uee though, because Dr Jang is kind of like a wallflower role. Her character wasn't well fleshed out (neither were the others, to be honest) and it feels like she is moving backwards.

It's an enjoyable drama but it suffer from weak plot, lack of character development and lazy writing.
