I think Hae soo's reaction is justified in her consternation, albeit distressing to watch So reaction to her words.
I'd be questioning my sanity if I was spontaneously having premonition and trying to reconcile with the fact I've just fell through time...which is where the inconsistency in her character becomes conspicuous to me. She had adapted remarkably well to Goryeo but it is now she falters?
I can only attribute this to her growing feelings towards So. She's dismayed by her involvement, did she precipitate his ascension to throne by covering his scar? I'd be frightened too. Now her actions have consequences and she's afraid of how far those repercussions will reach.
From her perspective, she reacts plausibly but as an audience member it's difficult to watch.

This episode ended on a sombre note but Wang so is resilient and so is Hae Soo. They both survived and persevered thought multiple hardships so it is my hope that their love is equally resilient to withstand the inevitable tragedy that is coming, perhaps even optimistically finding moments of true happiness.

Despite my reservations about Wang So, I do so adore main characters who are ardent. Typically, male kdrama leads are too reticent but here we have a character who's almost primal in his expressive passion! like It certainly makes for dynamic watching! He's just so....vivid!

Oooh, deceptive Wook in the preview! Telling Hae Soo he loves her in order to control her and keep him as priority in her heart. She asked him to forget her and he knows after his experience with his wife that not divulging how he 'feels' will not keep Hae Soo loyal to solely him.
I didn't like how he is weaponied the restraint he's been placed under his whole life to manipulate his wife, always on precarious ground.
But he knows Hae Soo is wavering, he's perceptive enough to know she is conflicted. And he's intelligent to know when someone is vulnerable and frightened, they seek comfort in the stable and the known. Wook from Hae Soo's perspective in the safe and known, rather than the volatile and tumultuous emotions that So inspires in her. Particularly after her disconcerting premonition.
The gallent facade is peeling away and Wook's not as honourable as he would like to be perceived.

Okay, I'm slightly perturbed by the narrative this episode took. I feel like LGK's alluding to Wang So's possessive and obsessive tendencies towards Hae So really are going to come to fruition. I thought he was just saying that for some levity in the interviews. XD

So looks wistful to me in that picture of him embracing with Hae soo, for some reason. Yearning for a greater amount of time with her, rather than a stolen moment of two souls seeking comfort in the rain.
This is a testament to Lee Joon-gi's nuanced and intricate expressions, he can emote something that resonates with each person but also exudes an ambiguity to allow for individual interpretations.
That is what you call a competent actor. I'm obsessed with this drama and greatly anticipating Mondays!

Wook is quite deceptively written. He is the reticent, dignified romantic figure who is restricted by decorum and his own instilled brand of integrity. The confliction he exhibits towards his emerging feelings for Hae Soo in earlier episodes was quite endearing but he's spent a large proportion of his life in a state of restraining himself and I think this is where his courteous facade is beginning to crumble.
The shackles of his wife and his duties towards her family are released, at the moment he is unencumbered by thoughts of possessing the thrown like his brothers. For the first time, he can indulge in his perceived hearts desire; Hae Soo.
But his inaction and compliance has cost him, Hae Soo's own heart is wavering in the direction of So and when he will finally acknowledge this shift, his resentment and indignation will be the catalyst for his own plight for the thrown.
Well, that's how I interpret his characteristics.

One of my favourite artistic images this episode was Hae Soo looking at the moon whilst contemplating her feelings for Wook. The allegorical title of the drama indicates Hae Soo and Wang So, he is the moon to Wook's sun in Hae Soo's horizon. They both dominate and occupy her thoughts, just like they love her but in different ways. The moon and sun both emit light but it is a distinct light.
Mostly importantly, I think in this interpretation is the Moon has phases. Hae Soo's feelings also fluctuate and So also grows in her affections. At the point in the drama, their relationship is precariously balanced between budding friendship and turbulent emotions. When the moon is at its most luminous and when positioned just right, does it not eclipse even the sun?
Hae Soo's love and regard for So will eclipse and diminish her feelings for Wook .

Another way I construed the forced kiss is this is how So is physically silencing a verbal betrayal from the lips of someone who promised she wouldn't.
He's so desperate to impede her rejection that had it been another person, he would have cut them down with his sword. But here he is physically consuming her hurtful words whilst simultaneously trying to communicate just how much he needs her.
