  1. @Jillia I’m the same... completely, totally, unabashedly, utterly invested in the SH+JH couple. So much so, it’s starting to make me ship them. But I got to get a hold of myself. But dang it, they are just so dang lovable. Hahaha

Less than 7 hours to go! I hope and pray that the live link won’t give us endless commercials. The only olympic feat I’d like to see is Se Hee mincing/grinding Garlic in full ahjumma apparel.

This is just for fun, sort of six degree game. Just connecting the actors/actresses of this drama - passing time while waiting for ep 11.

Lee Min Ki co-starred with Kim Min Suk, and Sung Joon in Shut up Flowerboy Band who also co-starred with Jung So Min in Can We Get Married. LMK has music video with Esom. He also worked with Park Byung Eun in Ordinary Couple.

Who else in the cast worked previously with other actors/actresses in this drama or somehow connected?

Thank you for posting bts, videos, gifs and photos. Love them all!

LMK and JSM seems playful/warm offcam but lukewarm in BTIMFL lol I'm excited to see SH express his love to JH, and how JH will react when they finally admit their love for each other.

It is officially Monday in some parts of the world

    World peace

I noticed that too! Somehow the cast were connected somehow. Thank you for outlining it so neatly. :)

I think LMK is smiling and laughing a lot in BTS because he has to expend all the joy he feels because as Se Hee he rarely cracks a smile, let alone an actual laugh. Heheheh.

Happy BTIMFL day, First Lifers! Looking forward to spazzing with you guys about Ep 11 on this forum!

I don't know why (probably for the social awkwardness, the reserved personality with the charisma when needed) but sometimes when I watch SH, I receive some Mr Darcy's vibes

    @meiil @kimnabong @Jillia

    I agree

We must (?!) remember that he is not asexual (ahah funny how his sexual orientation was pointed out in a very direct way). And when he was planning on have JH a simply tenant (2nd episode), he was the one to name" the risk" of living with a woman.

I hope we will see Namja SH in action, followed by the cute pie SH

Mr. Darcy? I'm going nuts here. Of course! I love Mr Darcy and I love that you see that in Se Hee. Only in Se Hee we've got logic and not pride. And I hope that similar to Mr. Darcy, that when Se Hee goes full blast with his love, we'll be overwhelmed by his affection.

Another scene I find significant is when Ji-ho tells Se-hee she won't need love and affection for the next 2 years and she wants to try marriage once. I think we never really get voiceover by Se-hee. But in this scene we get it and I love it! I hope we get something like that in episode 11 as well. I need more insights from Se-hee.

He doesn't say "I found myself a very unusual tenant as my wife"... no, he found himself a very unsual woman as his wife. The jawdrop is lovely as well.

    2

I absolutely loved this scene and the fact that we can still hear what Se Hee thought.

The words,  "MY wife... and WOMAN make me so so giddy.

    Thanks for the awesome GIF!

My innards are actually getting giddy just thinking about more kisses from this couple. I'm already out there riding the trajectory that these two will end up together and that it's just a matter of when and how for now.

I am however wondering whether the drama will show them consummating their marriage. I mean there are three main couples in the drama. Though "love" scenes were never explicit, it states very clearly that two of the couples are sexually active so intercourse isn't taboo in this setting. I feel like for their marriage to completely depart the contractual pretext and for the couple to be more than just "boyfriend-girlfriend" in a fake marriage, they will have to consummate it. I have this sense that although their wedding is valid, it isn't really real because they did it for different reasons. Now, it's more like they're liking the person they have a contract with and then they'll be dating, but it's still encased under a "fake marriage". I feel like they need to show the two of them "marrying again for real, complete with devotion". Since getting married again in a wedding hall is both redundant and expensive, their real wedding should therefore be symbolized by consummation or maybe submitting the registration at the city hall. I'd like both. hehe. I like the idea of using sweet and meaningful intercourse as the ultimate culmination of their becoming one (and then submitting forms at the city hall after) because it gives the deed a different layer of meaning. It will make for nice balance against the two other couples who do the deed for excitement or as a habit. But I don't know how the drama will do it without forcing it in or without making it "dirty" because these two are probably the most wholesome couple in kdramaland right now.

    Monday come fast please.

And now I'm feeling immensely sad that we actually only have three weeks left. Seesh.

Let’s not think about the drama ending just yet... I might go crazy. Hahhahah

I totally get what you’re saying and I agree with you. I hope that after all that build up we’ll get some intimacy/beautiful scenes of luuurve. I mean, come on. If Ji Ho’s donsaeng had one at ep 1, she should have one as well!!! Or else I’ll flip a table!

    I am kidding. :)

i look forward to shy smiles, gentle touches and romantic moments in and outside the home. Heck, if Dad pays off the house, they can afford a honeymoon, right? Maybe do something like Goong and marry in another country. Or maybe go to England and watch Arsenal live. Or take her to the stadium and propose for real there.

Another wish—that Se Hee actually does the pick her up instead of Cat scenario to Ji Ho later in the drama. You know, that scene that she described to the high school friends.

Then Ji Ho can make her friends blush with her stories hahhaha.

Here’s another thought, maybe after Namhae, Ji Ho’s mom gives Se Hee a container of snake soup to take home. And then one night, after dinner... Se Hee gets “hot and bothered” hehehehe. I’ll let your imagination take it from here. :)

see what the long road to ep 11 is doing to us?!?!!!!

Hahahaha I'm so sorry for the kilometric post! This is me needing monday to come soon so badly. Or an extra preview and some fan taken shots? :D

Dream or not, I'm grateful it isn't a goldfish kiss. They need to correct the fish kiss at the bus station by any means.

Don't be sorry. Your post was absolutely amazing!

I'm re-watching Episode 4 right now and had to pause it. We can still see certain moments from Se Hee's POV (the morning after the proposal acceptance when both of them were enjoying the morning, and the night before when she said she'd like to try marriage and did a hard pivot to recycling.)

I wonder, when did they stop showing Se Hee's POV when it came to Ji Ho? (besides the jealous Bok Nam scene and uphill run).

Also, I think the bus stop kiss was sweet. It didn't look like goldfish lips to me... trust me, I've seen WAY worse. hahahaha

Again, thank you for your amazing post. I sincerely hope they show ep 11 in Se Hee's POV.

I'm not sure if this was posted already, but I haven't seen it here so I'll share just in case. A comparison of the handwriting in the form and Se Hee's handwriting (I'm not sure which ep this is but I do remember seeing this)

Just solidifies my theory that he did not fill the form out himself. :D

That’s some pretty awesome sleuthing skills! Ep 9 is when he signed something. This was when Bok Nam was explaining how he knew Se Hee’s signature.

I would like to know if there is an ep where we see CEO Ma’s handwriting. To compare the dedication on the book of poetry given to Se Hee. Someone said it might be a prank “wedding gift” to him from CEO Ma. Who knows? :)

Now I think that Se Hee may have cared fot Jung Min but not enough for a marriage. And that their families were pressuring them. Se Hee refusing to marry Jung Min may have been the reason why he got kicked out of the family home. The reason why he felt he wasn’t a son but instead a thing to be bartered with. And he expected his father to be on his side only to be bitterly disappointed.

Just a few more days!!!!!!!!! Wooohooo

  8. Wooohooo. Love this thread. I haven't backread yet, but it's jumped a couple of  pages since I last caught up with it! You guys are awesome.

I've been thinking a lot lately about Ho Rang, Won Seok, and in relation to WS, Bo Mi.

Ho Rang -- I feel for her. I would like to know what happened in her life that made her want to be a black coat. Sure, we know she's always wanted to marry a self-made chaebol, still. Dreams at their age (18/19) can be lofty, positive, and full of possibility.

There is something to be said about spending seven years of your life with someone. I don't remember how long they've been living together but what I know is this, Ho Rang believes in Won Seok. Enough to hotly defend his app during her conversation with him after his visit to the GLAM+ offices. On the one hand, people may think that she's been just waiting patiently, grooming him and supporting him so that she would benefit in the end... but seven years? And being the sole breadwinner almost half of the time they'd been together? I'm surprised she hasn't given up on him by Year 3 or 4. If she were truly after the ring, wouldn't it make sense that she'd have left him while she was still in her prime, childbearing years (saying this from a biological clock standpoint as "Fertility starts to decline at age 30 and chances of miscarriages rise." Source: http://www.parenting.com/article/will-you-still-be-fertile-in-5-years21336226

She's not young anymore and people younger than her and old classmates are married off. What we're witnessing at this moment in time of the show is the pent-up frustration from both parties. It is not a simple as painting Ho Rang as a nagging, bridezilla to be. When she saw the ring on her finger, she can hardly believe someone as smart as Won Seok would want to marry her. She has so much self-doubt that she compensates with pinning her confidence on the fact that she's in a relationship and now, engaged. She herself said that the veracity of her womanhood and identity is tied to her being desired enough to spend a lifetime with. My heart is breaking as I type this. Where is our red coat Ho Rang, who can pull off such vivid colors with such fearlessness and pride?

And she's clever and sensitive. What I like about their friendship that though each one is flawed, they are so attuned to each other what they need at the moment. Ho Rang stopped Su Ji from rubbing salt into the wounded pride of Ji Ho at a friend's wedding. She also astutely said the words that Ji Ho needed to hear. She stood up for herself when the manager asked about "that time of the month." Prior to that, she was always smiling and subservient. We know she's great at management and leadership, given how much her team respects and follows her. She pays attention to detail and knows what to say in certain moments. Yes, she can be tactless. She is not perfect.

After the long day at work, I'm not surprised she's getting into the whole wedding business. She needed to de-stress and to think happy thoughts. She overdid it, of course.

Anyway, let me end my thoughts on Ho Rang with this: I trust that the writers have more for her. I believe that she is deeper than what is being shown to us. I love her for her loyalty and dedication to Won Seok and her friends. I wish that she would start believing in herself more, loving herself, and be on the path to finding what she was really meant to do in life.

Since that was long, I'll keep my thoughts on Won Seok brief--it takes two to tango. We can undoubtedly see that he adores Ho Rang for who she is and that he values her belief in him. I hope he'd be brave enough to speak up and communicate to Ho Rang certain expectations. I think both of them need to work on that and to remember that though they think they know each other, they are not mind readers. They have to spell it out and make sure the other party understands. His decision, his sacrifice, though we may think that he may have been pressured to do it, was his and his alone. Ho Rang doesn't know that his company despises him for selling out. I don't think she'd be too happy about it either--not from a standpoint of her dreams of being the wife of a self-made CEO going bust but because he worked so hard at it for so long. I don't the CEO thing is in her scope anymore, since she was happy that Won Seok joined Glam+.

Lastly, Bo Mi. I will come out and say that I wasn't too happy with her line of questioning with Won Seok. In an office setting, that is inappropriate. She can ask that while they're out to lunch or at one of those team dinners but on a first day? Out of line. That is none of her business. In a way, that is a gateway to harassment. She doesn't get a pass because she's great or because she is eccentric. My guess is that she may have had an indirect history with Won Seok. Maybe she was objectified in Won Seok's "The Next Kim Tae Hee" app from their university days.

Slack, by the way, is a collaboration platform where team members can message each other and share files or work on projects. :)

My sincere apologies to everyone for the long post.

Love love love this drama, so wonderfully scripted, so wonderfully acted by the mains. And such a breath of fresh air.

    Just sharing some thoughts.

    1. Allow me to be a little superficial. Showed my love last night what a change of hairstyle can do to a guy’s looks. I never think of LMK as handsome. He is older now (since SUFBB) and since the beginning of the drama, LMK looked odd and quirky to me. But the character he plays, Se Hee, grows on him and on me. And there’s an acceptance of his looks. That change of hairstyle is a bit of a surprise. If he is slightly on the spectrum and don’t yield to change easily, the hairstyle change is most unrealistic. It’s something very personal (from center parting to full bangs...) to a man and takes years to change...

Not that I’m complaining...I like the new look. Kudos to the writer and PD, I’m seeing Se Hee like how Jiho is seeing him, including watching him drink water with Adam’s apple bobbing..hahahahahahahahaha

    2. There was a few mentions of the wish of Bo-mi & Bok Nam loveline and possibly Bo-Mi is something more than what she portrays, perhaps a Won-Seok rival in the cyber world. But could I say I’m hoping for a loveline between Bo-Mi and Won-Seok? Sometimes, a cohabiting couple of 7 years, may need to move on when their life goals are so different. That’s life.

    3. Which brings me to this. Actually...I’m not liking the Ho-Rang character. I know there were flashbacks of her being bullied, her loyalty to friends and Won Seok and that her life goals are to be a good wife and homemaker. But her manipulative ways and the showy moments with her colleagues often grate on me. And this episode of her and Won-Seok showed the divide, even if he had proposed out of love, her initiatives with planning the wedding, their roof top/bedroom convos, her dreams, his dreams, what do they have in common really...besides being sexual partners?

and last random bit...came across an old MV of LMK singing (2014) and I couldn’t help but think, Sang-gu (at 2:17!!!) has been in Se-hee’s life for a while...

    https://youtu.be/HTHtqq15U9w

About #1 - Love the role reversal. It's usually the female that gets the makeover, right?

He's also worked with Esom before. https://youtu.be/gVQ6FOVbBoA:)

Hope he sings for this drama's OST.

  10. My theory about what lead to the kiss. Or dream kiss.

Ji Ho is sitting on the beach and picks up the book. She leafs through it and lands on the page with the handwritten dedication. She gasps in surprise, saying to herself, "My love? My everything? Se-Hee? Romantic?"

Then Se-Hee calls out to her from across the street.

Ji Ho looks up, hastily putting the book away. She stands up and watches Se-Hee making his way towards her. Her mind still buzzing with bewildered thoughts about how somebody like Se-Hee could ever be loving enough to be someone's "everything."

She tries to imagine it, Se-Hee being romantic. And then, boom! Dream Sequence. Se-Hee says the line about "room in his heart through this marriage" and then swoops in for the kiss.

:) Don't mind me. This is me convincing myself. I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong by this drama.

    * * *

Theory about Se Hee's ex... tragedy.

Maybe they were going to elope since Dad was so against it. Something may have happened to Jung Min while she was on her way to meet Se Hee. Then again, that's typical k-drama. And we all know this drama is everything but.

Actually, it could have been that Se-Hee was going to ask permission to marry and move abroad with Jung Min. And Dad wouldn't allow it. And because Dad didn't give his blessing, Jung Min left Se-Hee to go abroad. I bet that when she does come back, she'll be married. And not necessarily after Se-Hee. Or single and enjoying it.

Ji Ho would be jealous but only because of what Jung Min signifies. Not because Jung Min will do all the Ex moves from other dramas.

    * * *

    Theory about Cat--

I don't believe Cat was Jung Min's cat. Didn't the Vets say Se Hee found the cat and brought it to their clinic just 3 years ago?

Sigh. Filling in the gap between now and Monday.

  11. Just finished watching with subs as well. And just like @8mel I had such ambivalence towards this episode from watching it raw that almost didn’t want to watch the subs. Thank goodness @teep523 convinced me to do otherwise.

I have a lot of thoughts about this but so little time. Will try to make gifs of the end scene where Ji Ho and Se Hee meet in the hallway. There was a flash of fear...? Nervousness? In Se Hee’s eyes upon meeting Ji Ho’s challenging glare. I loved Ji Ho so much in that moment! So much strength in her gaze at Se Her that this taller man would certainly shrink at. It was only at the end that Se Hee sort of squared his shoulders and met her in the hallway. Still, there was a nervous energy there.

These are my thoughts on BOTH their body language and microexpressions which are absolutely stellar.

To sum it all up, basically Ji Ho’s glare—that actually started when he was throwing out Maslow at her. Froze when he gave her the money and then was starting to burn during her phonecall and was unleashed in the hallway—sent Se Hee into an “Oh richard simmons, what Did I do to pi*s her off now?” Moment.

You think only Se Hee’s eyes can spit? Well , Ji Ho’s eyes throw daggers. Se Hee better be ready.

This!!! When i was watching this scene, I didn't think much about what SH said, but now that you mentioned it, that phrase "I didn't realise it" carries so much meaning beyond that context.

It so aptly describes SH's growing feelings for JH!

*sorry to cut your post short!*

Maybe he won't realize that he's about to give Ji Ho the kiss of her life? That's fine, as long as he doesn't say afterward the dreaded, "Oh, I didn't realize..." At which point, I wouldn't blame Ji Ho for pushing him into the water.

Speaking of pushing--did Ji Ho say that she's going on the offensive? That she'll be a striker? I'd like to see that! Grab that namja by his coat lapels, girl!

Does anyone else notice the time of day from when he's approaching her to when they  actually kiss?  It looks like the morning or an overcast mid day when he's calling her name and walks toward her. Then, when they're kissing the sun is setting behind them. So maybe in between that time something happens that leads them to kiss each other? Idk just from my observation it looks like that

Yup. Saw that too. The light is different. Almost like someone used different filters for the scene.

  14. I agree with you @mapleoaks4 and @Jillia as well as with the others who have said that they'd like to see Se Hee's journey of falling in love with Ji Ho. I would also like to see them share sweet moments (beyond the epic hand holding) in their everyday lives (not referring to sexytimes. But hey, if there is that, I won't complain. Hahahaha!). I hope this will not be dumped on us on Episode 15. Personally, I don't like it when dramas suddenly give us a ton of skinship and lovey-dovey feels in the second to the last episode. I like the slow build of the relationship but I still feel there's a lot of ground to cover, especially with Se Hee.

Which makes me wonder, Ji Ho's Mom is a catalyst somewhat. It's because of her that he made that promise. And because of her letter that he knew to stay with her when she cried. So perhaps they'll have a heart-to-heart talk again? Or maybe with Ji Ho's dad? (long shot) That talk will make him realize that whatever feelings of protectiveness, jealousy, and contentment he has with Ji Ho was actually him falling for her?

I think Se Hee's opening up little by little--that Ji Ho's growing influence on him and his life is beginning to sink in deep. I was about to go on a technical tangent but it might be too much. So let me break it down, Se Hee is learning. The more he's exposed to Ji Ho and her ways, the more he absorbs and it affects his way of thinking, his daily life, his decision making. That's an awesome thing. Though yes, it's slow. Then again, progress, no matter how incremental, is still progress.

As crazy as it sounds there are moments SH really reminds me of another character called SPOCK from Star Trek maybe he is part vulcan LOL:lol: " Live long and Prosper "

I am not surprised that he continues to move forward one step and backwards two always sharing in his logical thinking.  At least in the latest episode we can see partly why he reacts and believes the way he does about relationships and even love.  I felt a bit sorry for him in knowing somewhere along the way he chose to bind up his feelings and tie them within himself.  No longer seeking for more just calmly accepting what is.  Maybe even settling believing it's enough that he shouldn't expect more or doesn't need more...  I don't know about anyone else but if my only goals were paying off my house,  my only desires for warmth was taking care of my cat, my only dreams about my future was dying in my own home.  One might be living but I wonder if it's like a cup half full always half empty...

THE FLIP SIDE...  What do he and Spock have in common?  Just because you do not express emotions doesn't mean you don't feel them...  In wanting to protect those you care about no matter the cost...  That too is love...

For when we see that slight smile appear on SH almost catching us off guard.  It stands out because of the very fact that he is different and the more I watch the more I realize the genuine goodness and kindness and yes even gentleness that even I seem to overlook because he doesn't express himself like everyone else.  I might sound even more crazy when I think about his honesty and how this man doesn't just say words to be saying them.  Nor does he make promises he isn't willing to keep.  I must sound as if my feeling are like a yo yo or maybe it's because I only looked at him with my eyes and not with my heart.  Or even worse in believing everyone should express love in the same way. I guess this drama has become more than just entertainment it has me thinking today...

    :heart:usafarmgirl

I agree. In ep 1 he totally reminded me of Spock... and now with his new haircut, even more so!
