How long do your PSPs last in standby?
My brother's psp lasts about 3 days in standby before its drained. When I say drained, I'm talking about enter language, and the date and time type drained.
My psp lasts about a month before it goes down 1 bar.
I swapped batteries, got new batteries... and his just drains very quickly like that.

No idea. I wonder if closing this thread for a day or two would make the bots think the thread no longer exists and move on.

Are you restoring to the correct version and using the correct jailbreak program? I wonder if you don't have the correct timing or something like during the hack where things are going wrong because it sounds like something is getting messed up so it doesn't start.. and no I don't think thats causing it.
-
Oh no. It took 4 days.
Hmm compared to HP thats still significantly better. Did they leave obvious screw driver marks all over your laptop where they pried the panels off? When I sent my HP in for a screen issue, they put deep gouges on my screen and on the edges where they pried I was missing a few screws they forgot to put back in. And they never got around to fixing the screen issue. So I will consider what you got definitely a positive result.

O_O did they change the LCD right there?!

Yeah, my friend's a computer science major with a MacBook and she says it's a pain in the butt, but it's only so because she's too cheap to buy parallels or vmware fusion like I tell her to. Her professor dissed Apple in class and said they suck or something O_O
Apparently that's a very common problem with iMac screens. You should get it looked at at the genius bar.
As for my iMac with the blinking problem, I took it to the genius bar. As I'd suspected, the computer didn't show any problems at the genius bar, so they took it in for more extensive examination. I really miss my iMac
There are actually quite a few macbooks in my CS classes. A lot of times they have a pretty okay time doing things because when working with like C++ and a lot of the linux environment stuff over the network on SSH they get to use the shell and I guess its almost like using linux for them so that works out. I know they have Eclipse and stuff for apples too but if they had to use things like SVN they will be left out.
*goes away before talking about my vista based hp*

Well I learned something new invisible sheilds DO fail..
I don't hate them, it just happens to be peeling, have deep cuts and heavily scuffed. Guess I will have to use the warranty option. Hope they honor it.

does the new ipod touch require itunes 8? or will it work with itunes 7?
I had itunes 7.7 on my desktop and ipod touch 2.1 I updated with my laptop... when I plugged it in I got the blue screen haha sooo I dont think it works
-
^Mostly old one, the new one cant be jailbroken yet.
Btw http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ the jailbreak utility for 2.1 is out for windows now.
Im not sure if the new touches come with the 2.1 preloaded... otherwise it would have the 1.1.5 either way not that hard to find or upgrade to the 2.1
-
^jailbreaking isn't that significant anymore. You can get by with the free apps pretty well now. Sometimes you loose out on the fun stuff like games (not free) but thats okay

i have the new ipod classic
and i'd like to ask... i put some
videos in the MUSIC VIDEO folder
on itunes and since that doesn't
show up on itunes, how do i delete
videos from there?
-Rebecca
When you have the video files converted (super, videora, etc can convert to the proper format of mp4, m4v, mov) then you can drop the files onto itunes or into your ipod video folder. If it doesn't show up.. its possible it never was added or it didn't have any tags in which case you should go to your Movies and see if its there unsorted.
My computer where all my songs are and where I plug my iPod in just crashed.I really wanna upload new songs on my iPod using my laptop but I'm scared that it might delete all the songs that are already in the iPod.
Is there any way to add songs without doing so? & is there any way that I can transfer all the songs from my iPod to my laptop?
Thanks in advance
Make sure you have manually manage music checked.
As a precaution you can make sure it wont auto sync before you connect your ipod

Then check manually manage music in itunes after you connect your ipod

HALP.
My iPod shuffle doesn't get detected by itunes. I updated to iTunes 8, buuut.
I get this message:
I kept pressing retry, but to no avail. :|
Try uninstalling then reinstalling itunes. Sounds like the service was disabled.
I'm wondering what your guys average ipod lifespan is.The last 2 ipods I've had both died after a year.
I have to admit, I'm pretty irritated, and if everyone else ipod is also dying after a year, I won't get another ipod.
How do they "die" most batteries will die in the two years or so. The other problems can have other causes... so cant just say its apple only.
what do you do when your ipod freezes?i'm still kinda new to this..
Depends on the model
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
Go throgh the first 3 clicks.. select ipod, click next and you can see how to reset based on your specific ipod.

2.1 can be jailbroken.
http://www.quickpwn.com/2008/09/jailbreak-...ui-version.html
Time to get the new Touch.
=] and if you read above, the new ones have new protection to prevent you from jailbreaking it. http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ if you read that, it says will not work with 2g touch because Apple fixed the security hole that let people modify code in a recovery (or dfu?) mode
-
So anyone who wants to Jailbreak (non buggy) has to do it the old fashioned way?
I thought from what I saw ex. PwnagePro 2.0, it looked like it was a few click program.
Yeah... should be soon but so far theres only that one I linked to which was simple but had its own share of bugs. The official winpwn/quickpwn should do it with a few clicks and button presses on the ipod. (button presses on ipod puts it into DFU mode they can send modified code into)
-
^ Are current Itouch Jailbreak programs nowadays one program and one click? Because if it is, then I will definitely jailbreak a new Itouch.
Because back in the day I remember researching about Jailbreaking, and I do remember that it required several programs to Jailbreak, etc.
I tried it... and it was just a few clicks, follow directions on the screen like hold home+power.. then hold home.. etc
But it was buggy and refused to let me backup so I had to go and manually make some folders and update a file to make it so it would backup properly in itunes. Might be worthwhile to wait for an official ipod dev release
-
There is a QuickPWN for 2.1 http://www.quickpwn.com/2008/09/jailbreak-...ui-version.html I have tried it, it seems okay but its one of those things where I wonder if its better to wait for the official release. I currently have problems making a backup of my ipod but at least it works
-
i used ziphone and i have version 1.1.5, and yeah i am logged in but they still don't sync for me. am i supposed to upgrade to 2.1 before they allow me to use the free apps?
The appstore only appears on firmwares 2.0 or greater.
-
I think give them a week. Because they will probably wait for the 2.1 to come out for the iphone before releasing the touch version too you can look at the current status here http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ . The new touch does have extra protection, but they can jailbreak the 3g.. (cant unlock but at least jailbreak) so its only a matter of time. Seems popular enough for them to not neglect.

URGENT!
I want to send over the playlists & play count on my iPod to my computer. Thing is, my computer got a new hard drive and could not recognize my iPod when I plugged it in. It asked to delete the entire library of the iPod before syncing it with the computer. What should I do? I'm not so concerned about getting the songs over, but I want to send over play count to Last.fm too (which requires that the iPod be automatically synced, not manually) and still have my playlists.
I hope there's a program for free that can help me do this. I have a PC with Vista, and a 160 gb iPod.
Please please please help me! & thanks!
Should just google or look at some of the posts here we have plenty of those threads http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=242952

Yeah, jailbroken but so far im pretty sure there aren't any unlocked ones.

What does it mean to jailbreak your ipod touch?
The ipod software gets modified so a user can install whatever they want. If you're into the whole PSP modified firmware stuff its the same idea. Apple makes it so only they can make programs for the touch (changed in 2.0, but they control what the people can publish). Jailbreak removes those checks so you can put in the programs you want.
One example of something apple will never allow is NES emulator. They wont allow it, but if you jailbreak it you can manually install it and play NES games on your ipod touch.
-
I know that if you do a restore the ability for you to use the Installer and stuff no longer exists. If they don't see Installer and stuff thats enough to convince any Apple store employee. The rest of the stuff like "can dig it out" is ridiculous because we can't read any of that stuff on the ipod without jailbreaking it... so you have to make the changes to see it again.
If you use WinPWN it will modify the bootloader... but the restore will wipe out that modification. Even custom icons/boot screens go away because I can't load in a custom firmware without putting the Ipod into DFU mode and all that. I had a ugly pineapple rather than an apple logo for a while and I did a restore and it went away.
-
Do a restore and it will remove all the traces :]

can you jailbreak an ipod classic?
We jailbreak so we can install programs on the touch, the classic doesn't have that option thus does not need a jailbreak.

Perhaps that can help you... There are other utilities which may be better http://lifehacker.com/394046/copy-music-fr...mputer-for-free but Yamipod is definitely worth trying.
Its the automatic sync, do you like that because you can disable it... otherwise make sure your Itunes play lists are identical to the one on your ipod. I know I don't always sync the play lists, normally I just drag from folder onto itunes into the correct folder.
Hold the home+power button for about 30 seconds it should restart. Otherwise, plug it into the computer and just let it sit, and hope the batteries are just drained. Otherwise you might have to erase everything and do a restore.
That certainly doesn't sound good, all I can really offer is http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
It sounds like most people don't have any problems with it. They say the battery life isn't quite as long, and they can't jail break it, but that's fine because there are plenty of nice free programs
