^Looks like both of the cameras actually do have the microphone input which will be useful if they really get into video.

Yeah sometimes when they see it they're like why did you choose that picture as my contact picture?!
I think the facebook app can automate it, but I just set it up in my Gmail and set the contact pictures there and it syncs to my phone.

The most irritating aspect of my phone is the fact that I only have 160mb ram in it. Why 160 I don't know, some of it might be dedicated to something but either way it idles at 135mb used out of 160mb. Tempted to buy a new phone with 512 mb ram so I won't be so annoyed by it.

I had frozen pot pie for breakfast, three little cha shu bao and three little chicken bao for lunch. Half a roast beef and half a pastrami sandwich for dinner.
Probably a bit too much sodium for the day.

My phone has been driving me insane for the last.. few weeks. The data keeps cutting out and I don't know why.
If I reset or even soft reset (have an app) the phone will go to X, then show the bars, then show the EV symbol next to it. Usually the data will work for about 10 minutes after that. Then it will die again. The up and down arrow will light up, go dim, both light up, then up lights up... and the page goes to not found and I burst into a profane fit of rage.

About 30 minutes before I start restarting my phone to try to get the data working again. I try not to because it takes forever to start up. As for on the computer or at home, couple of hours but its much easier if you are busy with something

I like eclipse overall. But Notepad++ is great for reviewing, editing and all that. It highlights the code nicely and is great if you're doing something quick.

so i downloaded odin 1.7 and the XWJS5 firmware...it successfully flashed but will not reboot. it gets stuck at the "Galaxy S" flashing screen and just vibrates like 3 times...
Have you tried to just let it sit? I remember reading about some that take a while for it to do the update after it finished transferring.

What's your favorite keyboard?
The stock keyboard on 2.1 is a bit.. dumb. Namely the lack of spell check and autocorrect. I currently have the trial of SwiftKey which is pretty good but still feels like nothing compared to the keyboard on the iPod Touch.
I wanted to try Swype but it doesn't run on low resolution devices. I found an alternative one SlideIT and that worked okay but had a greater learning curve than I would prefer. Well I guess its just a lot to get used to.
It doesn't help how my screen is relatively small compared to most phones and it really doesn't help that my screen is weird about half the time. Like I tap g and I get b. Hit k and get enter.. Its almost like the attack of the resistive touch screen!

great....so ii just fraekin used this to force upadte my firmware and now my phonew is stuck at load-up sscreen. I HAVE A BRICKED phone.

Good luck, hope you manage to fix it. At least you can get to the load up screen.
I don't know your phone, but there should be a download mode and recovery mode you can get to like press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power Button type things... and if you can get to that then you should be able to find a image to load back into the phone and hopefully get it going again.
4. Android Version
- 2.1 I heard there isnt much of a difference from 2.1 to 2.2 so i didnt bother.
From what I have read the jump from 2.1 to 2.2 is pretty substantial. There are two features in particular that people like. app2sd which is great for people who have phones with limited internal memory. The other is JIT which basically speeds up the execution of programs and is said to have a noticeable change in feel for even the slower phones.
2.0-2.1 was supposed to be very minor
2.2-2.3 is also a minor update with mostly changes in the interface.

Don't know but out of the normal manufacturers like samsung and htc... according to gizmodo samsung sucks at releasing updates.
I know what you mean about wanting an official version. I didn't root mine the "normal" way because I didn't trust the stability of the updates people made.
Im still waiting for 2.2 people got it working on the virgin intercept but MMS and some features dont work still.. so I don't want to lose features :\

I heard the new google maps is awesome... but I hate how these new programs are getting so big. My phone has limited memory!
probably not the best place to ask but anyone know if its possible to symlink and transfer the programs to the SD card? -
You probably need root access to remove the messaging app. Cant you just set one to default?

I'm pretty sure samsung isn't really known for releasing software updates.
there have been talk about updating the Samsung Intercept from 2.1 to 2.2 but haven't seen anything real. I always thought devs would port the kernel updates for the users but that doesn't look like something that actually happens.

I have a Samsung Intercept, I used rageagainstthecage to give me temporary root access then entered a few scripts through the ADB shell in order to use a Samsung Moment root hack that is compatible with the Intercept (intercept is like version 2 of the moment)
On Android 2.1 I can do wifi tether and manually uninstalled some of the preinstalled programs so I actually don't worry about running programs anymore. I used to hate seeing the Amazon MP3 store in the list but now that its removed from the phone I never see it running so I don't mind. I also installed Adfree which is beyond awesome to get rid of ads. Surprisingly it takes care of ads globally so even apps dont have ads

Advanced task killer just gets redundant if you have a Vibrant since it already has on built in, ATK can also screw up the refresh of your widgets and sometimes system apps so I would not use it.
As for rooting there's more painless ways to root z4root on the Market works well on most phones and using Titanium Backup (also found on the Market) you can easily delete useless system apps.

Do you know if ATK does anything negative in terms of refreshing background tasks when you don't have it set to auto kill tasks? I use it to kill the annoying apps mostly
Strangely for me Titanium Backup doesnt see my phone as rooted. Might have been my method of doing it, I basically have a stock kernel with root privileges unlike those custom kernels out there. I guess similar to the one click root which doesn't work on my phone.

I do process RAWs from my dslr on my laptop so that actually has some appeal, but not for that much money. My laptop has a slightly cooler screen compared to the iPad and I just work with it.
I'll see how it goes, can always hope for some black friday deals!

Ill look into those. The studio 14 laptop actually came amazingly close and I was tempted but thought itt would be wise just to look around a little.
The fact that it has esata, usb, and a express card slot is really nice. Sad to see so many companies omit esata and the express card. I mean that's just cruel to omit both. I have a esata express card and a hd tuner (uses 54 so I doubt I can ever use it in the future since 34 is the norm)
I do like business laptops. In fact I still think the ibm t20 is a really nice computer.
I'm just a bit concerned about the trade off. For example my work laptop is a old latitude d620, that thing has a really dark screen and it makes me question the desire to have a matte screen. It could just be a bad screen but bad impression already The single speaker sound is pretty pathetech and both the eraser and touchpad leave much to be desired.
It doesn't help that most of the deals I find onlatitudes have like vista or xp 32. Don't know whybut I want win7 64.
I suppose I should get a 15.4 screen since I don't go anywhere the 16x9 might be fine with a 15" I guess
Should take a look at the outlet then the precision was cooli saw a 17" monster
The lenovo i7 15" y560? Was nice too but I saw a lot of screen complaints and with my luck I would get them all

I need laptop buying advice.
My 2.5 year old HP Dv2700 has done something to annoy me. One of my USB ports have turned into a USB 1.1 port and its not drivers! (Dual boot Vista/Win7 both say it can perform faster)
My third battery is pretty much dead, I'm on my third charger, I have replaced the hard drive and sound board, I need a new keyboard, palm rest, and dvd drive (it can only burn coasters). My fan is also doing a very annoying pulsing thing. When I turn it on it pulses high/low for about 4 minutes before it calms down.
So I want a new laptop.
Budget of $1000 max.
Ideally i5 processor, 4gb ram, 500gb+ drive, Win7 x64, type of GPU is unimportant. Screen size preferably 14 or 15.6" not a fan of 16x9 AR prefer 16x10.

Got the Samsung intercept its an amazing upgrade from my old phone. Biggest downfall is the battery life. I admit I am a heavy user...using it right now! But u can get UT down to 20% in under six hours from unplugged
I have 2.1 on this tempted to root but the rioted kernels pretty much are in beta stage nd this is my only phone so I need soeithing stable.
If the android 2.2 gets released as they said try will then I wont need root.
There is a lot of limitations on this hardware 120mb or less flash for apps and 256 MB ram with only about 60mb free at start
A froyo feature is app2sd which can solve thef lash space issue and it's possible to use swap if you root and store it to the SD tempting

But is it really necessary to take a bunny to a vet?
I'm pretty sure she's healthy and in tip top shape, so I don't have to, right?
And, how much does it cost to get a bunny spayed? :\
If it doesn't eat and doesn't poop.. take it to the vet immediately
Otherwise usually bunnies can take care of themselves.

Currently waiting for red dead revolver and crackdown 2 to drop in price. Still waiting for Dead Rising 2 to come out, I have hopes for that.
Um lately been playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 again. Fun I guess

Personally, I don't think any of Lenovo's other line ups are anywhere as good as the thinkpads.. and even many of these new thinkpad series they've created since the IBM days, has gone down hill in quality.. especially the famous thinkpad keyboard. on the upside, Lenovo has been more port friendly with their new notebooks than IBM was.
I'm not even sure if the Lenovo is built better than my HP...
It was definitely a fingerprint magnet and the screen hinge wasn't all that stiff, allowing for slight play. And the vents on the bottom look a bit delicate. However that would be an improvement over the 1x1" square on the bottom of my HP which acts like an intake. The other thing I liked was the idea that you can unscrew a flap to access the fan. Very useful for someone who is almost nuts about keeping a computer clean. -

I wanted to make it suffer a little so I could see how it would handle heat but the store doesn't offer internet and doesn't have any games installed so 17% was the highest I could get it to go with the webcam app. Sadly it doesn't feel like a thinkpad. It's definitely a fingerprint magnet and it's only supposed to get about 3 hours of battery life because the i7 cpu doesn't have the dynamic GPU switching option.
