[Drama 2018] Hundred Million Stars From the Sky / The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, 하늘에서 내리는 1억 개의 별

Recommended Posts

At this point I think we have been fooled by the production. There's a room for me for #nonsiblingsteam?

Yeah, I'm regaining hope for MooKang couple but that won't change the tragic end: murder case, MY being blackmailed by crazy evil despicable rich sister about his past and SA and WS accident (what a mess).

Behind the scene Ep.13-14 to relieve our stress

That's so unfair! Why are they having so much fun on set while we are stressing over even the smallest details! Thanks for the vid @phi3nk I love your profile pic, btw haha

@April Twilights Yep, it's the other way around in the Jap version, at least for that scene. It was Yuko who ran off to get meds and when left by himself, Ryo's memory cleared. I also don't see JK taking her own life. She's too much of a breath of fresh air.

I could actually see your predictions happening:

50 minutes ago, April Twilights said:

Most probably, she will be put to death under the machinations of Se Ra. MY will then kill Se Ra, probably with the gun that she once gave to him. And MY will take his own life to follow Jin Kang and come back to her. I am even having this feeling that he will do that on that cliff. He even seem to have a deep connection to it when he went there like saying that he can actually stay there. Even in the teasers, he is shown to be on the verge of throwing himself off. But with Jin Kang's death and absence, no one will be able to stop him anymore. That gives me that feeling. So so sad.. really sad.

Actually similar to the JDrama route-

Spoiler

it was Ryo who killed the crazy rich sister.

What was NOT in the K-drama version (so far at least) were: (1) Ryo saying thru VO during his amusement park date with Yuko that she is his "last spark of life". When they went back to his home, he said that he is her reason for living. (2) Yuko during the back-hugging/scar-comparing session that she wants to live with him and have his babies. Awww.

Sure! Welcome to Team #NotSibs, @jujuls

JUST SOME FINAL THOUGHTS FOR THE LATEST EPISODE: One of the main reasons why I had this inkling that they would change the version from an incestuous to a non-incestuous one is because of the change in the drawing. BUT THEN, every now and then, I would have this thinking, what if it's just a divergent ploy? What if it's just the production's tactics to keep the viewers on watching? I mean they are aware that everybody will inevitably know about the original version's ending sooner or later. Thus, they must change something to give a little ray of hope to everyone that they will not follow the original thereby keeping the viewers on board. I mean if they did not change it, then, it won't be that much harder for the viewers to deduct that they are actually siblings. What if it was all made up just to keep us on watching?

Thus, what if yesterday's episode was a ploy as well? Adding the story that MY's father killed his mother and 2 other people still gives hope that JK is the daughter of the 2 victims. But what if they are just doing it to keep us holding on with our hope and continue on watching the drama until the end? So, in short, they are making some twists here and there but in the end, they are retaining its originality that is: that the two are siblings and of their tragic death.

Also, I've had this presumption that they won't take the original route because of the conservative Korean society. But what if the production is already willing to make such courageous and landmark move in the history of Korean drama? Besides, the drama's rating wasn't that good in Korea (but of course the drama was excellent and super loved by us international fans. It's really because of the fear of tragic ending). So what, I'm trying to say is, what if the production is willing to make such a bold move since an extremely tragic ending won't affect that much of the Korean population's anyway based on the ratings and decide to make a big history instead? Also, I personally find Seo In Guk and Jung So Min to be very bold actors. I mean, SIG accepted this role despite of criticisms because of his discontinuance in the military. On the other hand, JSM also made such a bold move by doing such intense scenes despite criticisms because she's in a relationship. So what I'm arriving at is that, the 2 are very bold and excellent actors who are so willing to hone their craft. They accept works based on its good script writing and based on their passion for acting in a masterpiece drama notwithstanding the fact that they will not appease a large number of audience. I feel like they are the kind of actors who prefer passion and excellence in their craft over popularity. So, what if indeed? These are just my "after the episode thoughts". WHAT IF? Though I prefer the earlier scenarios that I've posted but somehow honestly, these insights have helped me prepare for the worst/ saddest case scenario next week.

slightly off (and shallow) topic before i go to sleep after rewatching my fave scenes:

we all know it's an irrefutable fact that seo in guk is smoldering as kim moo young, but allow me to recognize that goodness gracious, jung so min is so beautiful a creature, too! she looks like an angel! if SIG was born to play KMY, the same is true for JSM as JK. and park sung woong- i know he's an ahjussi and all already, but he's one good-looking ahjussi! especially in that sauna scene before MY confronted him haha

okay, okay i'm talking nonsense now. hope tvn releases something soon that could clue us in on what's in store for us next week.

Hi! I have been lurking these soompi forums for lots of dramas and decided to come out of lurking to get your comments on one tiny detail.

I am not team siblings or not siblings. But my guess is they are siblings because her name is Jin Kang. The other victims was Park and I forgot. But none of them had Last name except for the murderers last name. So I think it will end with them being siblings. What s your thoughts on that guys?

Hi and welcome to the thread!

Your observation could be also right, i've been thinking about that too. What @April Twilights said could be also correct. The fact that the writers build this cult story just to play with us and make us wonder till the very end for no reason

At the end of the last episode i was heartbroken because the truth seemed 100% out but yet this is what makes this remake brilliant. I am in a limbo right now but i am definitely prepared for the worst and i don't have high expections.

@teachermok YES and YES, JSM is very beautiful and stands out and PSW is also very charming. He is also very tall and i like it.

At some point, the second confrontation scene of episode 14 between JG and MY seemed like a couple fight "don't look at me with those eyes". That made me laugh a little bit.

@April Twilights I think you hit the nail on the head. I think they are going with the original ending but kept putting little differences in the story to keep us guessing.

As you put it, both JSM and SIG knew what controversies the drama could create but they still went with it and that’s why they have my deepest respect as the actors who are willing to take risks. Even though the drama isn’t doing well in terms of ratings, I still hope the actors will be recognised for their roles in the entertainment industry. It’s going to be hard to surpass their acting here.

Wonder what made them laugh so hard?

Also JSM really likes that blurry selfie of SIG, right? She keeps showing it around

I had already prepared my mind and especially my heart, since the beginning, for a sad ending (siblings / incest and deaths). In my previous comments, I even said that if I had to choose between a happy or sad ending, I would choose the sad one.
But after watch the EP14, my heart broke and I cry for the first time(I thought I would cry only in the last episode). And for the first time I'm wishing for a happy end, for our MooKang Couple.

(It was this episode so sad or it's me that I'm too emotional)

I think this drama really messed with our heads and hearts.
After reading some of your theories, it really could make sense, that they aren't siblings.
Why suddenly this side story of a cult and the other two victims. Although at first it does not seem to correspond with the conversation of JG and Tak in the temple. If these two victims are the father and mother of JK, could it be that either one of them were a bad person?

Right now, it looks like they will not go for the incest. But in relation to deaths, this still could happen.

Some of the scenes in the K-Drama version are the opposite in the J-Drama version. The last scene of EP14 is an example of that.

It was Ryo who burned his hand and not Yuko. It was Yuko who ran to buy medicines and not Ryo.

What SR will tell MY will be crucial in these last two episodes. I just hope MY talks to JG too.

In the J-Drama Version Ryo after remembering that Yuko was with him in the past and the boiler incident, he first talks to Dojima to find out the truth and then with Sayuri, she makes fun of it and then he kills her.

But in the K-Drama Version, I think will be the opposite. MY first will go talk with SR. And then with JG.(But if he talk first with SR, she probably will joke about the fact that they are siblings and slept together, if she do that, it most probably that MY will kill her. So the end will be probably sad one. But could be that she will not joke about these facts, because maybe this is not the information that she will reveal to him, but that his father killed JK parents. I don't know what will pass in MY mind if he know that his father killed the parents of the person he love the most.)

One more thing, I think the form of the deaths of MY and JK(if they happen), in the K-Drama Version will be the opposite of the J-Drama Version.
I can see JK dying first and then MY. But I can't see JK taking her life.

Regardless of the end, I'm going to embrace that, happy or sad.
Another thing that is make me very sad, is the fact that this drama will end next week. And I'm not going to see our MooKang again. I'm gonna miss these two so much.
I just hope for another project for Seo In Guk and Jung So Min as couple. A romantic comedy, with a more light theme. Instead of sadness and crying, give us happiness and joy.

But I also gonna miss this place here.

I'm too emotional today.

Honestly this show is breaking my brain. We have to be prepared for all scenarios. Just a few hours ago I was thinking without a doubt they will make MY and JK unrelated but they would have a tragic ending.  I was thinking that it could be a divergent ploy but a 180 from the way you are suggesting. Probably everyone who has heard about OMSFFTS knows about its ending and what TSHLYE knew instead of competing with it why not do the opposite?? They knew that had to address the potential sibling plot and why not use the viewers preexisting, concerns, anxieties and fear about this relationship to their advantage to heighten the intensity of the storyline. If this sibling relationship was addressed during the last episode I would be concerned but given that there are still 2 episodes to go it gives them time to turn it around given that they already addressed that there were 3 victims. Yes, It is a tamer choice but it would appease the Korean society.

From a storytelling point of view I agree that given the vibe of this melodrama it would be more fitting if the story went the tragic Jdrama route. And if they do this then I would be okay with it  because it would make this show more epic and memorable . But  I can tell you now this drama is way more of an emotional rollercoaster than its predecessor. These characters have been through so much and I would be happy and satisfied if they allow them to have a happy ending. Also the love story is more meaningful and the driving force of this show. MY and JK not only love each other but it really feels like their connection is tied to being soulmates and that they need each other to be complete. While the love story played a big role in OMSFFTS and the leads had insane chemistry it was not a emotionally deep and profound as this one.

As for the ratings, because its a cable drama anything above a 2.0 is considered successful. Everyone involved in this drama including TVN must have known that this drama was a huge risk and not get the ratings that they wanted. But they should all be so proud of themselves because its a masterpiece and one of the best melodramas/thrillers. And  as for the romance  this has to be one of the most genuine, thoughtful, beautiful love stories and it will stay with me for a long time. And I really hope that we can SIG and JSM reunite one day in the future to do another project together. They were 2 of my favorites before watching this but I love and respect them so much more now.

Anyways this is my ramblings for now. I am pretty sure in a few hours I will change my mind and go back to non-related siblings, misunderstandings leading to tragic ending LOL

Likewise. I honestly don't care about the ending anymore. What breaks my heart more is that next week's going to be the last :(

ME, TOO! I'm going to miss you all. It's like this group has become my therapy of sorts LOL. I derive comfort in the fact that we are all on this together on Thursday night.

I have been watching Asian dramas since Meteor Garden was shown in my country in 2003. I've always been a lurker in forums. If you ask me which dramas and actors are my favorites, I could go on and on and on. BUT, this drama is a first on my list for some very special reasons: it's the first that I livestream (i would watch raw episodes of dramas which i liked, but i don't livestream, i mean i could wait); it's the first that made me active in forums both here and on dramabeans; and it's the first to keep me up all night- for the last two days I slept for two hours (jeez) and would just take naps during the day.

Regardless the ending, this has become the show and the couple to beat in my heart of hearts. Happy weekend! :)

Please, let me just clarify my "What If" post. :) Kindly, I do not mean to discourage anyone from watching the drama but more of, I would just like to share my views on both possibilities that could happen from both sides of the coin in order to prepare myself. I mean, I've been even wishing over and over again that more people would appreciate the excellence of the drama and that it may receive the credits that it deserve, ratings and award-giving bodies wise. Also, I could not even remember the number of very long posts that I've written in my unending appreciation of the love story between Jin Kang and Moo Young and of the incomparable chemistry between Seo In Guk and Jung So Min. In fact, as an avid fan of this drama, I've always believed that I should hold on to it through ups and downs, through thick and thin, whatever the ending.

And as I have mentioned,  and as you have probably read in my earlier posts, I have always been writing this scenarios and sharing these insights in my mind as to the reasons why I cannot fully convince myself that they are really siblings. Most of my posts are in fact on the Not Siblings Route. Perhaps, in fact, even if 99% of the drama will show that it's going down the siblings route, at least 1% of me will still be wishing that they are not siblings up to the very end. Such a very tragic ending will sadden me but what saddens me the most if indeed they will follow the J-drama route is the fact that I may not have the heart to watch the drama again. I am afraid that I may not be able to see them in the same romantic light as I've been seeing them again. And I really really want to be able to re-watch the drama even after its ending.

But again, to save myself from too much sadness and also, as I also want to appreciate the drama from both sides, whether incestuous or not, I also have those "What If" insights in me... :)

I have to say that.....i am a cowar.  afraid milk bottle  I haven't watched the two  last episodes yet.  I am waiting for the two finals episodes. I hope, i really hope that we can have a happy ending. Well Not  really a happy  ending because there are too many scars not only in their skin but in their life.  Taking in account that Jin Gook might lose her sister for ever cause what he did. MY's father being a murderer or maybe the murder of JG parents. Everything is already so sad for those three character but i hope they are not  siblings.

For my mental health PD nim , please. cry milk bottlegive them a new start. Give them a possibility.

PD i like the analysis  of many of you. @kdramaaddict212  @teachermok @Table122000 @April Twilights @hoyund

@aisling THANK YOU for this gif! It totally made my day! That 1 second scene cracked me up when I first saw it because it's like MY is thinking "Come on, I hate this ride and now you can't even feed me cotton candy correctly?" Lol.:P

Siblings or not, MY and JK are soulmates and saviors for one another. It's as simple as that.

The way they bear hug each other each time and burrow their hears into each shoulders only cements that notion.

I'll miss the MooKang couple as well, and also hope that SIG and JSM will work together again on a light rom com. It's a shame to let that acting chemistry go to waste. I'll miss this forum too. It's been so nice to have a positive place to go for sharing and discussion for this drama since a lot of blogs/forums are either not covering this drama or have a negative vibe. It's been fun!

hi, @Table122000! i agree with all the points raised:

1. it's highly unlikely that the mom was pregnant at the time of the escape from the hubby 'coz little JK is already quite big- more than 2 years old most definitely- in the flashbacks.
2. true, why would she register the birth if she doesn't want to be found in the first place? at this point and all things considered, it's highly likely that MY is an only child.

3. the drama peeps are the biggest trolls. ever.

4. JSR is just really probably just messing with MY. he is her current shining, shimmering, splendid object of interest and for her this is all just a very amusing game.

My biggest worry now is a probable fauxcest misunderstanding.

Yes. I'm also worried about the last 2 episodes having a fauxcest misunderstanding which leads to all the tragedy. I hope things are clear and the drama producers don't rely on that old trope, because this has been such a good production so far and the drama and the viewers deserve a better ending than using that.

Well, Jin Kang's name is not her real birth name. We don't know what Jin Kang's real name is. I don't think that the "Kang" part of her name refers to her real name at all, and so I think that there is a strong possibility that she is the daughter of the 2 victims. However, I see your point. We will have to wait for the last episodes to know for sure.

Coming to this board has been a safe haven. I watch the show on the Viki site with the live commentaries and posts and it has been a nightmare. So many people have been so obnoxious with their comments or so narrow minded and refuse to see this drama for what it is. There was one blogger who wrote an amazing post about episode 10 but hasn't posted anything since  because the commentary made by others has been negative one person attacked her because she liked the couple.

Wishful thinking on my part but if I would like if if JK gave her the "Kang" part of her name because of Moo Young.

Same here, @kdramaaddict212 . I don't regret coming out of lurker mode for this drama. All my real life Kdrama friends stayed away from this until they're sure it's not incest- I think they're missing out on too much. That's also the reason why for the first time, I don't have anyone else with whom to spazz about the drama- that's until I started posting here. Thanks guys! Your posts help tide me over the days we don't have our MooKang couple. Good thing I don't watch on Viki otherwise I might go full on beast mode on those obnoxious people.

Does anyone here know where I could find the lyrics to "Lost"?

Btw, ep 14 ended with a montage of some of MooKang's most memorable scenes and the final shot was that of them holding hands for the first time. There's something about them holding hands that piques my interest. For some reason I find that there is some sort of significance in this and I'm thinking that this might come into play in our last two episodes (or maybe I'm just overanalyzing things as usual).

In episode 7 when MY wrist-grabbed JK and asked her to eat the cake with him and JK freed her wrist, MY was shown to stare sadly at his empty hand. And since episode 10 I would often catch him looking at their intertwined hands. I dunno, I have this nagging feeling that this might be a foreshadowing of sorts, or maybe, it's just simply MY loving the fact that he already has someone to holds hands with. In fact, I was even theorizing a few hours ago that this subtle hint of them holding hands might be related to what the producers mentioned as the underlying theme of the series- that love saves. I don't want to go into details anymore on what came to mind haha.

And yes, #MooKangFOREVER @hoyund

I enjoy reading all of your posts and I hope you continue to post your "what if" scenarios. :) They are extremely insightful and so eloquent, especially the one post where you mentioned their love is so beautiful that while may not meant to be in this current lifetime they will be together again whether its the next lifetime or amongst the stars.

I do not think you are discouraging anyone from watching this drama.  If anything you are helping us. We all need to be a little prepared when we go into this finale because when we have to say goodbye to this incredible couple and amazing drama it is going to be so hard. I am  looking forward to reading more of your "what if" posts :)

As for your worries of not being able to watch the drama again, I don't think you  will you have anything to worry about.  So much attention has gone into crafting this relationship and regardless of the ending I think the actors, writers, and PD Team will create something  special to remember the beauty of their love in the best way possible.
