[KBS Drama 2017] Fight for My Way 쌈 마이웨이 - Park Seojoon & Kim Jiwon | Mon-Tue

DM's proposal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAUtvgyYMH8

(DM raises his championship belt. Then hands it over to his coach who raises it as well. Coach is teary.)
DM: Oh, this man. Again, his chin, chin, chin, chin, chin.
Reporter: In my assessment, I don’t think there is any athlete in this country who can touch athlete Ko Dong Man now.
(AR climbs into the ring next to DM.)
AR: Finally, after ten years have passed, we can say that he’s really won victory. How do you feel now, please give us a word.  (holding mic to DM)
DM: Uh, yes. Uh, that I was able to use my weaker ground game to win was very satisfying. Uh. And, to everyone who cheered me on, I give my sincere thanks.
AR: A more detailed interview will be done in the studio. Athlete Ko Dong Man, I sincerely congratulate you. (tearing up)
(Everyone else leaves the ring, but DM grabs AR’s wrist to keep her from leaving.)
DM: Why are you crying again? Your nothing ex-boyfriend, you should care less whether he wins or loses. Why would you cry?
AR: I should have never dated you from the start.
DM: Ae Ra, I don’t think I can live without seeing you, but because I’m afraid that you’ll want to break up with me again, I don’t think I can even ask you to date me again.
AR: I should have listened to Seol Hee.
DM: So, let’s forget all about dating and breaking up, and just live with me.
AR: What?
DM: I said live with me.
AR: You want us to cohabitate?
DM: Yah. If you kiss, Day 1. If you want to live together, marriage. Marry me. I can’t live without you. It’s been that way for 20 years. Whether to never see you again or to see you every day, if I have to choose between the two, I just want to see you forever.
AR: Then what about MMA?
DM: You. You. You. You. You. It’s you. Even if I die, it’s you. Marry me. Hm?
AR: What’s the point of asking?
(DM hugs AR)

Could DM be any more swoony?

I think this ending is good....the writer still consistent to maintain the ordinary life of the main characters.they still like before they achieve their dreams...I really like the love and friendship element in this story.....sooo realistic.

I am so happy that it was a happy ending! I was worried for a second, but then when the happy music started kicking in when DM and AR met at the beginning, I knew that the writer was on our side :-)

Sorry... just wanted to confirm... so her mom was in a racy movie before, right?

It was an artsy film, like the kind they show at Cannes. But the big issue was when the newspaper article came out and the producer made it look like Kanako had a secret baby that was 7 years old and she was in this artsy film. I think all those things combined was bad. No internet back then, so whatever news says is the truth.

NM gets some evidence of his mother's love. AR finds out about her mother.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6kOG6aucBk

(Coach gives NM Lady Hwang’s phone.)
NM: So, what in the world is in here? Money? What? Documents? Something like that?
Coach: You should be able to figure out the passcode.
NM: Yes?
Coach: She said it was her daughter and her son’s birthdays. It’s the will that sister made when she had cancer, she said.

(Later in the car, NM looks through the photos on the phone, seeing himself as well as AR)

(NM goes to AR)
NM: They say this is yours. Mom is giving it to you.
AR: I’m not accepting it. Whatever it is, I’m not curious and I don’t want to see it.
NM: Mom was by your side constantly for 30 years.
AR: What?
NM: It is the phone that she left because she wanted you to know that, so have a look. (hands AR the phone) I’m leaving.

(AR looks through the phone while riding a bus, calls her dad)
AR: Dad. I just saw something. What is this?
AR: What is this? (showing her dad the phone)
AR Dad: This isn’t all. Whether it’s the first day of school or graduation, athletic day, or picnic, whenever it was an event day, she would come find you. Even wearing sunglasses and a hat, she would just stand out even more. (handing the phone back) Your grandmother really did a lot of mean things.
AR: Then, it means that other than me, everyone else knew.
AR Dad: Don’t blame your mom too much. In Japan, when she would earn $10, she sent you $8. Later on, because of her business, she couldn’t send that to you. However, when you were growing up, you got a lot of money from her.
AR: What money? I never received money from mom.
AR Dad: Sometimes, I would sell only two bowls an entire day. How could I make enough to send you to university? And, are you that easy? Growing up, you caused a lot of accidents as well.
AR: What accidents did I cause?
AR Dad: When you were at university, while you were riding a scooter, you scratched up another car, didn’t you?
AR: That little thing. How can that even be called an accident?
AR Dad: And, in middle school, while you were playing with fireworks, you burned up that farm. They said it was 300 hectares or so. You were about to go to jail then, you.
AR: Stop with that now.
AR Dad: You’re a kid who cost several hundred of thousands of dollars. Several hundreds of thousands.

DM: Oh my, look at him, overacting like that
Man: Like we have said before, we would never see any other athlete like Go Dong Man

AR went inside the ring to interview DM
AR: It took 10 years for you to reach this stage and win the match. Please say something about what you feel right now
DM: Uh, yes. I feel happy that I can overcome my weakness for ground. To everyone who cheered up for me, I felt really thankful and thank you
AR: We will have a complete interview in studio later. Go Dong Man athlete, congratulations for your win

AR wanted to leave the ring but DM held her back

DM: Why are you crying again? Why would you cry whether your ex-bf win or not?
AR: We shouldn’t date at all
DM: Ae Ra. I can’t live without looking at you and I can’t ask you to date me because I afraid that we will break up again
AR: I should have listened to Seol Hee’s words
DM: That’s why, let’s just ignore the dating and breaking up period and live with me
AR: What?
DM: Live with me?
AR: Are you asking me to live in your place?
DM: Hey, if we kissed then it means we are dating. If I want to live with you, it means I want to marry you. Will you marry me? I can’t live without you. I have been like that for 20 years. If I have to choose whether I have to see or not seeing you at all, I will choose to see you forever
AR: Then what about MMA?
DM: You. I choose you. You. You. Even if I die, I would still choose you. Will you marry me?
AR: Why do you need to ask?

They hugged and the audiences cheer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9SJnjvDEPo

LH: Who can stop them now?
AR’s dad: That punk. Why did he make AR cried?
DM’s dad: Punk? Why are you calling someone’s son punk?

SH: Why do you only hold my hands? Even back then during the world cup, you only held my hands. Anyway, you have to know that I have yet to forget you and I don’t have any thoughts to date you *JM kissed her* Aigoo. *hit him all over his body* Why did you kiss me? Why? Why?
JM: Even if you hit me until I die, I will be happy
SH: Geez
JM: Seol Hee, are you cursing silently? *she hit him again*

AR: It’s not small wedding at all but a big one? Why the groom didn’t prepare anything at all? Do you think marriage is a joke? You should have planed it
DM: Believe in oppa. I have my plan
AR: You shouldn’t have thinking hard. Your head isn’t for thinking
DM: Understood
*sound from JM’s place*
DM: What is that? Joo Man, are you peeling garlic?
AR: Why would he peel garlic? Wait, I think I’m familiar with this sound
DM: What is it now? What?
AR: Stand up and let’s go upstairs

It's quite funny though, many people complaining about the ending because it didn't have any deep kiss scene. Well, it's good to know that many people like their kiss scene as much as I do (that makes me like a pervert :D) and no matter how many we kiss scenes we got from ep 10-14, we still want more. hahaha

And, can we just appreciate Park Seo Joon's body here? I mean, look at him . Most of the Korean actors, especially young actors around Park Seo Joon's age and under, they have toned abs and muscle but they somehow just looked skinny, even Park Seo Joon, I watched him in She Was Pretty, I didn't quite remember whether he had shirtless scenes or not, but he was quite skinny back then, as well as in Hwarang. But here, his body was just so buff and on point, not quite skinny and just all muscle. That's why Ko Dong Man is the best!

You guys! We were all so worried about how the writers will wrap everything up in 2 episodes. And the writers did wrap it up by making everyone nice.

Bad PD was misunderstood and was actually doing DM a favor.

Namil helped Omma be understood by AR by giving AR the fone.

HR simply gave up.

The resolution I'm most contented was the DongHee/TS arc.

I don't feel like something was left unresolved, but it felt rushed. Still I'm happy with the ending.

EDIT: After watching it with subs, I realized it's a very satisfying ending afterall.

I wanna thank everyone who contributed to the thread. The translators, those who share videos and thoughts.  I think that FMW is one of the most meaningful drama of 2017 for me so far.

@annie1234 He must've worked out a lot to build his muscles even before he accepted this drama. His traps and pectoral muscles' really impressive.

Based on the trailer for his new film, which was filmed before this drama, I think he must have started working out for Midnight Runners/Young Cops and just carried it forward into this drama. We all reap the rewards of that hard work, hahaha!

I'm still in denial that it's over...I won't watch the episode until tonight (well, episodes, because I was a scaredy cat and haven't seen 15 yet either). I know I'm going to feel that happy/sad feeling I always get at the end of the really good dramas. Hurts so good. :)

We got a hug instead of a kiss after the proposal? And just one small peck thereafter?

Did Jiwon's real-life boyfriend complain about too many kissing scenes or something, what happened? Lol.

Ah, well. I guess we got too spoiled.

It still hasn't sunk in yet that it's all over...

Ah that's why. But I'm guessing he has to pump irons before shooting shirtless scenes to make it bulge like that.

I feel you. This is a really good drama. Although personally I haven't felt any withdrawals from the kdramas I watched lately. Maybe because I'm watching real time. Last time I felt a withdrawal from a drama was because of a cdrama

Spoiler

LOVE ME IF YOU DARE because it was really good and I marathoned it.

But FMY will definitely be one of the memorable ones. I wish for a tv station in my country to pick up this show.

I loved this finale. I loved it even more than I thought I would, and thought it was a lovely wrap up to a fun rom-com.

Just as creepy PD yesterday was shown to be trying to make amendments for his creepy actions in the past, albeit somewhat awkwardly, in today's episode, HR shows that she's still a human being after all, confessing to DM that it was AR who had made him the porridge in the past, and insisted that HR wait for DM while he was in the military, and even preventing her from visiting DM the night before she had to get married.

NM's arc was ultimately satisfying as well, and even though KSY's cameo wasn't very long, I really appreciated his acting in the finale. Looking through Lady Hwang's phone at pictures of AR and then of himself, he finally accepts that AR is dear to Lady Hwang as her daughter, but that he also meant something to Lady Hwang. However, it was the final scene between NM and Lady Hwang which was so moving. NM was a 15 year old orphan stranded in Japan who tried to rob Lady Hwang when she met him at the police station. Seeing him, and wondering whether it was a lack of a mother's influence and protection that caused him to be that way, she was drawn to him. She tells him that she started living for him then, and thus he saved her life, so how could she ever let him go. NM has tears in his eyes as he says that mom was all that he had, so how could he not get jealous. As Lady Hwang is talking about their flight back to Japan the next day, however, NM tells Lady Hwang that he is going to go alone, and that she should stay longer. He said that he had mom for 14 years, but AR only had a short time, so he's willing to lend AR his mother for a little longer.

The Brazilian coach was a memorable cameo as well as he trains DM in the ground game. That he kept calling Coach "soondae" thinking that was his name was funny, also. However, it's his parting shot as DM thanks him and says goodbye that he might see DM soon in the ring that was a throwaway awesome vote of confidence in DM's abilities.

The bromance between Coach and DM is as strong as ever, and Coach has accepted that AR is a permanent force in DM's life, asking AR to look kindly upon him. Actually, Coach asks AR to see himself as cute. AR's immediate disbelieving reaction to considering Coach cute in any way has Coach defensively saying that AR's mom thinks he's cute. At DM's warning not to get too close to AR's mom, Coach asks whether DM is the only one who gets to love, that he is a love maniac as well. ROFLOL. I love that Coach and DM already have talked about plans for the gym as well as DM's fight career, and that DM wasn't going to bring the fight career aspect up until their marriage was legally registered.

As for AR and DM themselves, someone posted that there could be a short time jump while DM trained, and that was just dead on. I'll have to go back and look for the post that talked about that. While yesterday, I wasn't in the mood to pay as much attention as I should have to that suggestion, I totally agree that was the right thing to do. Both DM and AR needed time to figure out what life would be like without each other. And, in the finale, it's telling that neither of them can completely let go, or even really let go at all, despite saying that they're broken up. They still exist only for each other, regardless of what they say about the state of their relationship. And, DM's proposal was actually pretty perfect in his own fashion where he asks it straight up with no room for misunderstanding and without any theatrics. It's just the way he feels. And, AR is now in a place that she can accept him, though she still doesn't want the DM to fight any more. However, DM is choosing AR first and foremost, even over his fight career if he has to. I trust that they'll work it out in the future.

And, the final epilogue was just fun. So, here is a translation of it, though I think subs are up.

(AR wakes up on the rooftop.)
AR: What is it? What is going on?
DM: (also waking up)Ouch. Mosquito. Ouch.
AR: Today is the wedding day. So, why did we sleep here?
DM: Hey Bigfoot, did you have a dream? What nonsense are you saying?
AR: What? Bigfoot? Why am I Bigfoot again?
DM: What? You’re even uglier today.
AR: What? Am I not getting married today?
(JM and SH come out of the tent they were sleeping in)
JM: Did you want to get married? To whom?
SH: Did you get a boyfriend? Oh, something seems to be wrong. (this last to JM who starts to massage the kink in her shoulder)
AR: What? This was all a dream? No, it can’t be.
(DM reaches over and pecks AR on the cheek.)
DM: Eh, so cute. Don’t you think that Ae Ra even when she hasn’t completely gotten over being drunk is totally cute?
JM: You can think she’s cute.
DM: I, thinking that I’ll be able to live teasing her my whole life, am feeling so happy. This life is going to be so much fun.
SH: It will be fun.
AR: Hey. It is our wedding day. So why did we sleep here?
DM: Everyone, for watching Fighting My Way during this time…
All: Thank you!

And, thanks to everyone on this thread. This drama was a total blast. And, with a happy ending! My favorite kind of ending. :)

Man, couldn't sleep without watching the subbed version.

This was such a sweet wrap up! It did feel a little rushed when it came to sorting out PD, Ae Ra's mom and NM's characters and stories. I would've liked to see the new brother sister dynamic play out a bit between AR and NM, A family dinner with AR and DM's families, their dads squabbling, LOL.
But for the main four, I think there was plenty. Maybe amp up AR's dream coming true to be a lil more exciting.

All in all, I love that even the drama did things their way ('Fight for my way' spirit). No finale kisses, wedding scene, overtly sweet fan service, etc unlike other kdrama. But a feel good, super cute, and true to the show ending. It leaves you wanting a bit more. Enough to maybe watch the show again :)

Some of my favourite moments from the finale -
- AR mistaking JM's tiffin for SH to be for her coming from DM, lol
- DM bending over backwards lamenting he got dumped, plus gained 3kgs coz of AR
- The origin of 'Nam Il' story hehehe.
- DM low-key telling Coach to shush when Coach starts saying that DM will continue fighting. He whispers he was gonna wait till after marriage registration to tell Ae Ra of his fighting plans. That was so funny, him making sure AR doesn't run away easily when he starts fighting LOL.
- DM, JM and SH messing with Ae Ra at the end. I paused for a second too, tricksy move by the writers

I'm gonna miss this show so much. But Game of thrones starts next Monday, so I won't feel too much withdrawal hopefully.
I hope SeoWon ship sails.

Thanks to everyone here who translated, and posted goodies. :) Fighting!

Oh my! My heart is pounding! I love it! I love it dearly!

d0484d12408263.5626886a65e7f.gif

The story wrapped up in such a natural realistic way. I think i could watch this foursome forever.

Haha I was bursting out when they broke the 4th wall at the end. I was so embarrassed to be so into their fictional lives haha.

This show was fantastic. The whole cast even the minor cast were real people who dealt with life and who progressed. I'll miss them greatly:wub:!

And this show will always remind me to follow my dreams:rolleyes:.

Fight My Way brightened my summer!:D
