  1. They mean 4 episodes 30 min each. which is 2 full episodes for 60 min. If they extend for two more episodes (4 episodes for 30 min.) there will be an open space in the airing chart again so I really don't see the logic. Make it 1 or 3 episodes to even out the numbers why 2? Unless they plan on airing another special episode somewhere in between.
  2. @booha, thank you for sharing your thoughts, chingu) Seriously, it was very refreshing and pleasing for me to read your perspective and take on WB's character. And I agree with you on most parts but I guess I still feel sore about the fact that EVERYONE are using Sunni as a step ladder to achieve their goal. And even if I can understand that sometimes it's choosing lesser of two evils for WB, I still can't help feeling upset on behalf of Sunni. The last drop was WB's fake declaration of love. I still feel sore about it. 'Cause no matter how you look or interpret, it WAS fake at that moment. For all I see, WB's feelings for Sunni are still half-conscious for him. And at that time his intention was to irk LH. But it is a totally different matter for Sunni and she was swayed momentarily (you could clearly see it in her eyes) even though she knows she shouldn't be. In some respect it's similar to the situation with princess SJ, even though I don't particularly like her but WB's behaviour is cruel, tactless and immoral. Thus I want WB to suffer at least a little for his thoughtless confession. He never showed any signs of jealousy when it comes to Sunni. I think it's high time) @katakwasabi, about the extension, while it's reasonable for the production company to add one more full episode to even out the airing schedule, I feel like extending for 4 more episodes (2 full episodes) could be dangerous. 'Cause there is a high risk turning the story even more makjang as it is. It's wise to keep close to the golden middle without overdoing it in pursuit of ratings. On the contrary such a big extension could lead to even bigger drop of ratings. It's very important to know the right time when to stop. So I really hope they would not be adding more than one full episode if they decide to extend after all.
  3. Lol, looks like uri Woo Bin-shi is the one on the sidelines now and in dire need to be kicked into motion. He is dangerously close to seriously lose his chance with Sunni before even trying. And I am not talking about Hyuk here. (This one lost his chance long ago and no amount of apologizing can change that). But WB's crazy fixation on revenge and his indifference at times like this is inexcusable. So if he doesn't start showing any sings of jealousy and otherwise emotions towards LH's attempts at wooing his wife I will give up of him for good. In this case I really would deem WB as not deserving of such a precious little gem as uri Sunni-shi. She deserves a better man who would fight for her instead of constantly using her to gain a reaction out of LH. So this is your last chance WB, don't let it slip through your fingers.
  4. Frankly, Princess SJ is hardly a person who can be 100% trusted. After all, blood is thicker than water. Just like @triplem said, SJ is self-centered, egoistic, air-headed, silly and easily swayed which makes her dangerous. She is not as decent as her brother prince LY and if WB keeps leading her on there is a solid possibility of Bad Guy (2010) ending. Which I really hope will not be the case in this show. We have enough makjang as it is. So even if WB feels himself indebted to SJ after she covered up for him, he still should think hard about the way of letting her down as kindly as possible without hurting her pride and provoking. Even more so now after this accident, 'cause he should realize now that it's cruel. So It's in his best interest to do so.
  5. Seeing all the Sunny & Hyuk vids marathon. I would also like to participate and share some of my favs. All credit goes to the authors of the vids! P.s. LOL looks like Sunni & Hyuk ship gain a lot of popularity nowadays Woo Bin -shi you need to lay on the charm like ASAP! ('Cause even my heart occasionally skips a bit at the uri Emperor's cuteness). And I'm an avid WB & Sunni fan! Sooooo Woo Bin-shi, Fighting! P.p.s. On the other note, I really would like to see SSR and JN together as leads in another dorama. Their chemistry is awesome)
  6. Thanks for the answer! Well I don't mind if they take some time to improve the quality of filming/writing but that means there are probably gonna be another postponment in the upcoming weeks to even out the number of episodes and that is sad. Though I kind of hope they would add one more episode instead Don't want this show to end)
  7. Guys, does someone know the reason why episode 17 is postponed till Thursday? Is there some kind of holiday in Korea or event?
  8. Nope it wasn't shown. We only saw LH pushing his wife into the pond and leaving while she was still alive. So there is still a chance someone drowned her by force. We don''t know if SH could swim or not.
  9. Yes, that's true! It was a very special little moment between them. Please writer-nim keep it up! My poor heart feels a little pacified) But you would be laughing, chingue. My heart starts fluttering at LH's vulnerability. These little moments at the end of the episode has left even bigger impression. What a bad fate binds him and Sunni. If only things could have been different, if only... I wonder is there at least a little chance for him to realize his sins and sincerely feel remorse? That would have been the gratest victory of hers if Sunni would be able to reach out his conscience and remnants of his sanity if by chance there are still any left. Not just punish LH but make him understand. Seriously though I know what a rotten person LH is but I feel pain and sadness. Another victim of his parents, another ruined life. This is just too sad. This whole episode had a lot of good meaningful scenes and some new revelations: WS and Sunni, Sunni and princess Ari and ofc Sunni and LH. p.s. I'm catching up on the posts and I would like to say, guys the writer doesn't try to make LH lovable. Rather she tries to explain why he turned out to be the way he is now. It's not redeeming of him but it's also much more deeper than simply dividing everything into black & white. No one is born evil. And I guess that's what the writer tries to show. That even love can create a monster if it's twisted.
  10. Yes, I agree there are definitely some feelings between WS and Sunni. But an admiration, respect, mutual understanding, warmth, care, empathy or even sympathy are quite different from love. And for now I don’t see an indication of any *love feelings* budding between the two. Of course there are more pressing matters at hand but there always will be. I also agree that they need to interact more to develop some romantic feelings but that is the main problem here. The number of scenes they have together is very limited or short. They don’t have much chance or opportunity to fall for each other if the writer won’t give them more scenes and time. You are probably right I should not have had my hopes up because I do start to feel a little disappointed. I guess I succumbed to the hints that were given at the sinopsis and the big red line (that indicates romance) in the relationship chart))) Don’t get me wrong I do love this show as it is but it starts to get a little repetitive without some lighter emotional outlet. It’s high time start adding something fresh to make the plot moving and the characters developing by something other than angst, in my opinion. Also it won’t be good if the writer suddenly remembers about their relationship at the end of the show and makes them fall in love with each other all of a sudden and without more solid grounding. Anyway I still want to hope for some more solid progression between WS and Sunni but I’m not so sure now…
  11. LOL, looks like DW thinks she is Korean Cleopatra I half expected that young lad to be beheaded not long after. Why do I have a feeling YR lied about the place where she buried WS's mother just to lure him out. I bet she won't be as quick to open WB's true identity. She can't rely on the Emperor anymore. So this time she would be smarter and wait for the right moment so the reveal would make a bigger impact. Also this would give her some time to find WS's weakness and prepare her own revenge.
  12. But the romantic line between WS and Sunni is not even at the back seat level here. For all I've seen I found no indication whatsoever that WS has any romantic feelings for Sunni. Sure he cares for her but I don't feel like he cares for her in *that* way. No one talks about fluffy romantic scenes here but a lot of revenge dramas and even war theamed ones had a very well written subttle *romantic* subplot that only adds to the story (Secret & Mr. Sunshine f.e.) Especially since the screenwriter is famous for her family dramas so she sure should be able to integrate some *romance* and make it look suitable and plausible. It would also help tone down all the cruelty around. Personally I think the constant tenseness of the plot is getting a tad bit exhausting. Everyone needs a little emotional outlet. And especially it's needed for WS's character development. He is totally focused on his revenge and has nothing to live/look for beyond it. Let's be frank, he doesn't plan to live nor he wants to and all prepared to die. Thus romantic feelings for Sunni would serve as a lifeline for him. He needs it for his own sanity. p.s.But also like a lot of others I'm starting to seriously doubt there would be any romantic line between these two. Which in my opinion is a let down and a minus to the integrality of the story. @booha, thank you very much for the translation!
  13. I think they were scratching it raw removing damaged skin. And yes, they were doing it without any anesthetic.
  14. I really doubt WB has some romantic feelings for Sunni at least not yet. Or even if he does he is not conscious of it. I'm sure this was all part of his plan in making LH loose everything. Learning from the best uri WB. And i really start wanting for this one to back fire on WB. @booha,thank you very much for the translations. Lol uri Sunni *easy woman*? LH is so typical in this respect. No one can touch what belongs to him even if he doesn't want it himself. The fact that she can shine so brightly in the arms of another man suddenly make his wife all the more desirable for him. Serves him right to lose her out of his own idiocy.
  15. Thank you very much for the translation, chingue! OMG! These boys never learn, do they? First LH askes WS to seduce his wife, now WS askes Sunni to seduce LH. WS are you sure you won't regret this advice of yours later ( just like the Emperor). Throwing Sunni into the den of this psycho I really doubt she would be save. Do they want the history repeating itself scenario? If these stubbornness and lone wolf act continues I would opt for uri Sunni to dump both men in the end. Seriously just make this woman yours WS and protect her with all that you have till the end. 'Cause though I can understand where this comes from, all this *is it ok if i fall in love* starts to become tiresome
  16. @gm4queen, actually it's not far stretched, there are a lot of cases of people living with bullets in their head after some accidents, failed suicide attempts or even assassinations attacks. @illay, nope, I'm more that sure that the corpse belong to LH's first wife and i suspect that the real diamond necklace is on that corpse. The one that was given to Sunni is fake. Thus I say let this snake YR have it. She worth nothing but the fake just like the one that she is. @foreverempress, I think DW took away the necklace because it an important family heirloom. Thus underling that even though they let Sunni back into the Palace she is not part of the family. And I doubt Sunni knows about the inheritance or else she would have claimed it to gain some upper hand in the Palace.
  17. I must admit my first reaction while watching the end scene was to kick WS. Seriously seeing that look in Sunni's eyes when she realized this whole situation was not a simple misunderstanding... The moment this realization dawned on her even before WS could articulate it. I was like Arggggggh! She was betrayed TWICE by the people she trusted most! That's just too cruel. But later when emotions died down a little, I realized this may be WS's twisted way of protecting Sunni? Yes, he surely kills two birds with one stone and it so damn wrong of him to do so but wasn't LH commanding him to get rid of Sunni as a way to prove his loyalty? He never elaborated what he meant by get rid of (though I do believe he meant it literary). But WS opted to get rid of the Empress figuratively by totally destroying her reputation. And that redeems him a little (just a little bit). I mean if WS hadn't volontureed for the task LH could have made someone else to do it. And there is no guarantee WS would be able to protect Sunni then. Looks like theacher Byun was mistaken and SW can act despicable. But even though I know that Sunni will come to understand the reasons behind WS's actions I still want him to get some good beating from her.
  18. After the big revelation I'm wondering how Sunni decides to act? I was sure she wouldn't let LH near her or play a happy couple card. But judging from the preview it looks just like that. Like she still can't let go of her infatuation with the Emperor and continues to fight for *their love*. I mean I can understand that it's imposible to just shut down these feelings she had for LH for so long, but I'm surprised she still stubbornly has some faith in her husband when he lies her in the face and making it seem like she is the one at fault. I hope there is the catch. Sunni is smart and won't be easily fooled now even if deep down she wants to. She won't be able to look at LH the same way she did before even if she tries to deny the obvious. She know realized she doesn't know the man she calls her husband. So will she gives him one more chance? Or will she opts to wait and see, being on guard now and trying to test LH? I really don't want to see the *it's all her fault, she seduced him first* scenario. I know Sunni can do better than that and she is surely not one of those who'd let to step on her like that. This girl has dignity and backbone so I do hope the preview is misleading... Otherwise it looks like one last wake up call is needed and that is gonna be Grandma's death.
  19. That could be the case. Especially if Sunni wanted to buy herself some time outside the Palace to prepare the exposure of The Royal family.
  20. Just finished watching new episode and I must say, I really liked the inner conflict WS had after his revelations about YR. The scene were he couldn't bear to look at DS and left him in the woods was very strong. Which made his character all the more believable with such natural reaction. I just love these complex emotions. Hands down to the screenwriter though I still a bit put off with the cartoonish inputs into the sparring scene (it was so out of place) almost ruined the whole scene which was quite beautifuly done from the point of view of fighting tecnique. Why the heck they decided to add some anime effects? I'm afraid if it continues like this dorama would turn into a total mess being all over the place with mixing styles and such. There is a serious danger of turning a good drama into a parody which would be a total waste if it happens((( But why do I have this sick feeling about WS planning to ruin everything that belongs to LH? Including Sunny as a collateral damage. p.s. Did not expected LH and Sunny consummating their marriage. I almost expected him to continue successful avoiding his beautiful wifey) Things are getting complicated.
  21. I like your take on the shaving scene especially considering Empress Dowager obsession with her eldest son and possible kidnapping attempt as a reason behind it. But I actually interpreted this scene a bit differently. So I will share my take on it) Remember the attack during the dinner party? LH wasn't all that afraid in my opinion. Even though he was also threatened with a sharp object he still had enough presence of mind to play a selfless act before the audience. For me that shaving scene was dripping with in the intimidation. It's a power play. A veiled reminder. The hand that holds his live can be gentle or deadly. Here LH's mother clearly demonstrated her twisted sense of love toward her son. It's a motherly affection shown in aiding her son in such a simple tact so as he is still small child but at the same time Empress yet again reminded that she is the one having the upper hand and he won't be able to shake this suffocating hold all that easy. I think LH is afraid of her (remember his panic when YR hinted he would get into trouble if mother finds out about the car accident). Empress Dowager can be loving mother if her son is good but cruel if is he dares to cross her. Mother knows best that is her credo. That is also what I meant while saying LH was actually quite pitiful. He is manipulated and played by his mother and now by YR (the first person he trully believed in awhile). He is poisoned and tied up by this obsessive kind of love. I actually kind of think he had some chance at saving the remnants of his heart and sanity if he met Sunni a little sooner. She is like a breeze of fresh air in this suffocating Palace. But alas, LH is unable to love anyone at least not in a destructive egotistic kind of way. He just doesn't know how to. Thus even if he falls for Sunni sincerely (which I really hope would be the case. I'm all for more angst. lol), he would only know how to hurt her and ruin that little chance he gets. Cause the only kind of love he knew comes down to overpowering, enslaving and terrorizing. That is what I love this drama for, its complex and heavily layered characters. You, are totally right, no matter the past hardships i can not justify YR's actions. She is downright selfish and loves no one but herself. Actually she was ready to strangle WS's Mom there in the woods and i believe if she didn't saw her chance with the car accident she would have killed WS's mother with her own hands. In fact she did just that when she left her dying on the road. But actually know that you've mentioned her background I remember reading YR was orphaned at a young age and was raised by WS's mother. So when and how did she bring the kid in ? And how she explained it? I wonder... Yup, that's what i meant) I guess WS's Mom adopted the kid registering him under her name. So they are considered brothers with WS. Probabely since YR left the boy in her care and didn't want to know him.
  22. Sorry to cut your post and thanks for sharing the new info about another important character to the story. Good to know WS would have some solid back -up. The existence of imperial anti-faction also explains the fact how the attempt on LH's life was so well organised (I was actually surprised about that). And about the first wife of LH... After the first episodes it also got me thinking what may be the story behind her death (?). Could it be that the mummy which was found in the Imperial garden is actually hers. Considering the neckless... The one Sunni was wearing could be fake. And since it's an important token of the royal inheritance, the absence of such an important thing could rise as lot of questions thus if the original one was buried along with the Queen Soheon (in case she was killed) another one could have been made to replace the original. But that is ofc all spiculations on my part since we do not know (or do we?) what actually happened to LH's first wife. Btw LH's raw fear when he was talking about what the missing guard made him to do makes me wonder the real origins of his rotten self. Maybe this series of manipulations of LH by those around him started with that past accident. It's quite apparent that Empress Dowager knows a lot more than she lets on (thus she killed the guard's brother who claimed to have evidence). And i woudn't be surprised if LH's first marriage was for love and his first wife had some good influence on his character which caused problems for Empress Dowager who has this pathological need to be in control. Thus she could set up some accident to make LH paranoid about his wife's loyalty and accidentally kill her or something like that. It would make Emperor's character somewhat pitiable, at least that what I see him as for now. For now he is a puppet in the heands of his mother and now YR's as well. He surely is a monster of his own kind but is he the real evil of them all? and who/what made him this way, I'm very curious about that. p.s. I second your guess about Dong Sik being the child born from the physical assault ( I was thinking the same thing). It would explain YR's seeming disregard of the baby and her overall obsession with power. Indeed she looks like the woman badly scorned in the past. p.p.s. Guys, is there someone who knows korean and can translate the relationship chart from the 1st page, please?
  23. OMG! I must admit it's been awhile since I last was this giddy about the kdrama. But after watching only two episodes I can't get enough. I even started to re-watch all the promo trailers while waiting for the upcoming week (can the wed-thurs. come any faster! lol). But back to the more serious mood, when I first heard about this drama besides being absolutely ecstatic to see JNR and CJH back together on screen (my secret dream from the FTLY days. They are just SOOOO CUTE TOGETHER), I was expecting to see something among the lines of light romantic comedy. And boy, how happy I am to be mistaken))) It looks like we are in for the very twisted and heart-wrenching story and I'm all prepared to be emotionally invested and drained. Damn, I already can hardly contain the turmoil and speculations that are bubbling inside me) For what i see the romantic part of the story between Wang Sik and Sunni probably is gonna be very subtle and slow built and won't be the main focus of the story (though I do hope this part of the plot would also get enough attention from the writer without leaving us to guess). Their starting points in the story much differ, and their way to each other surely will take time (especially with all that is happening around). While Wang Sik comes to the royal family to extract his revenge, Sunni truly believes it's a fairytale come true for her. I really hope that Sunni would be able to warm her way into WS's heart and open it again for love, healing his deep wounds in the process and restoring his faith in people. But it kills me to think that before that happens WS would have to experience another betrayal from the woman he once loved and whom he still trust. I only hope Yoo Ra won't be able to do much damage to him before he realizes what a snake she is. Um, I don't see much of a problem in the fact that WS is Don Sik's guardian. With a Mom like YR he is as good as an orphan. I mean, I can be wrong but it looks like WS is not his biological father. That part of YR's past is still a mistery but as far as i understood YR was pegnant (or already had a child) when WS's mom adopted her to their family and since WS had the intention to marry YR he gave the boy his surname or which is more plausible WS's Mom added YR's son to their family register because she considered them as family. Personally I haven't noticed father-son relationship between them, they interact more like brothers to me. So what is the problem if Sunni becomes his Mom? The child should not pay for the sins of the parents. And using that line of thinking, shouldn't be WS the one who seems strange rising the child of the woman who ruined his family and life. As for the kiss on the lips which Empress Dowager gave her son... Well it can seem strange but it's actually not. I believe that at times she still perceives him as a child, unreasonable child whom she needs to control and guide. And a lot of mothers' kiss their babies (while they are small) on the lips as a sign of motherly affection. It's apparent that Empress Kang is a control freak and a bit out of her mind when it comes to LH. She forgets that he is a grown up man and treats him as her property. She IS twisted but not in a sexual kind of way as you might think.
  24. Well, I wouldn't be so categorical. There is no precise answer to the question who the real culprit is. For all I see The Emperor and the secretary both did it. They are partners in crime. And no one of them is less guilty than the other in Wang Sik' mother's death.
