I loved the ending. It's open-ended and the audience can imagine whatever they'd like. I'd like to think... that DH had deep feelings to JA all along but he was wise to not act on them. They both needed time to heal separately and find happiness themselves first. I assume because the photos on DH's desk was his son and his child's mother only... that they are separated? I really appreciated how the writer ended it... that JA will call DH and buy him a meal. Now they are both comfortable and happy and at the right place in their lives.... they can now get back into each other's lives... as friends... and then see where it takes them? Ep 15 was blah... but Ep 16 was amazing! I loved how the entire neighbor came to Grandma's funeral, JA FINALLY got the hug (and some skinship my-oh!) and when I saw DH broke down, I thought it was because he missed JA so much and realized he needed her... but no... it was that DH hasn't broken down the entire show... he finally let it all out!! It was hard to watch! But like his brothers said... he would be sick if he didn't let it out... he is finally on road to healing!) Kyaaaaaaaaaaa! Truly an amazing drama!

That was perfect. Just beautiful. The greatest. Deeply and emotionally satisfying ending. Park Dong Hoon is a man in looooove I cried and I laughed. Then I cried and I laughed some more. Wait a bit, will post some longer thoughts and translations soon. After I stop crying from the thought that this show has ended...

[My Ahjussi Roundup] Viewers consider this drama a 'life work' for all of its actors https://ddoboja.blogspot.com/2018/05/my-ahjussi-roundup-viewers-consider.html Original Source (news1 via Naver): 'My Ahjussi' to be a 'life work' for all of its actors t/n: 'Life's work'/'life work' can be understood as an actor's best performance, most memorable, etc. Like for example, many consider 'Signal' as actor Cho Jin Woong's life work. Hope this makes sense~ 1. [+309, -6] We're like that too~ Today we become Dong Hoon, yesterday we were Ji An, and tomorrow we're Jung Hee. The reason we're able to immerse into 'My Ahjussi' is because the drama has so many characters that are similar to reality and I'm able to be included into it~ That's why sympathy and love collides more and more, they're all characters of cool actors,,,,,,,, I heard writer Park Hae Young-nim wrote 'My Ahjussi' before she wrote 'Another Miss Oh', I seriously watch every episode in awe. Thank you for giving us the privilege to watch a good drama like this~!! 2. [+163, -1] It's also a life drama for the viewers.. I can't believe it's ending ㅠㅠㅠㅠ I hope everyone in 'My Ahjussi' is happy ㅠ 3. [+89, -2] Also, 'My Ahjussi' becomes the viewers' 'life drama' (t/n: the commenter rewrote their comment in the same format as the article's title) 4. [+61, -1] Even though I was immersed into it while watching it but it wasn't enough so I couldn't leave the comments section and I would sleep after watching the rerun, this is the first time I've done this for a drama, I was so~~ into it that I was comforted while watching it 5. [+50, -1] Go Doo Shim..is just.. my mom. (t/n: she's one of the actors with the 'nation's mom'-title) Original Source (Sports Chosun via Naver): 'My Ahjussi' is 1st place in 'TV popularity' already for the fifth time...2nd place is 'Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food' 1. [+962, -50] 'My Ahjussi' is my life drama (t/n: by 'life drama', they mean it's like their all-time favorite) 2. [+514, -125] 'Pretty Noona'? Can you even compare that with 'My Ahjussi'? It's a wall, I like 'My Ahjussi'! (t/n: by wall, they basically mean that 'My Ahjussi' is out of their league, it's unbeatable, etc) 3. [+382, -34] To be honest, 'My Ahjussi' is a wall. 4. [+200, -7] It's my all-time favorite drama ㅠㅠ I cherish each episode, I share with others, and rewatch it, jjang jjang (t/n: jjang is like 'the best')

THIS. I couldn't believe that depth of emotions that Dong Hoon expressed in #15. It made me question my own expectations of what a love story should be. I felt much more moved and touched by his words than I have in other so-called romance dramas. Honestly sometimes when I watch romance dramas I just don't feel the love and the cliches they repeat ring hollow. Even the skinship feels cheap because -- how many backhugs, don't go hugs, have you seen? They've become such a tired cliche. I'm really hoping they do a good job with the 90 minutes they have to show us their happiness. To me, what Dong Hoon said was so much more heartfelt and moving than a "I love you" or "I miss you." If I think of you suffering because of me, it hurts and I can't go on. I mean, that's probably the best confession of love I've heard in a drama since Secret Love Affair. My heart hurt too, just listening to those words. And as @mujay says, yes, they are public secret number one for now! @tiger457_stv is absolutely right. Silly engineers...but that's what he needs to keep his Ji An out of jail so she can start her life again--with him... I mean seriously, you think he's going to let her out of his sight again?

Hmmmm...Maybe he was afraid of getting a sneezing frenzy if he were to do that? Lol. I love the love at first chop! Hope to see more hilarious moments like that. Btw, even the way Chil Sung ran is funny. Hahaha!

Yes, it's only been TWO days since he became Director. Jae-Chul specifically said that. And he spent those TWO days desperately looking for Ji-An. His conversation with her at Choon-Dae's was as beautiful and heart-pounding a confession as anything. I do admit that he does have a very oblique way of expressing himself. But he's pretty clear about what he is feeling and what he wants. It's like his family said (over and over). If he says he's hungry, that means he's *starving.* If he cries, that means something *really terrible* is happening. Joon-Young said that his idea of "liking" a woman is to eat and drink with her. Even Ji-An picked up that he walks fast when he's embarrassed. Anyway, back to the remarkable and amazing conversation at Choon-Dae's: He runs like a mad men to get there, and when he walks in, she's initially shocked, but then reverts to the Original Tough Ji-An. Cold and mean. Calls him an idiot. He realizes what she is doing and tells her thank you. Then he tells her that he will be happy, for her: - because otherwise, her heart will hurt for him - then his heart will hurt for her - and he doesn't want to hurt her - because that will hurt him... Okay, in retrospect, that's pretty funny. It's like they're saying, "No, you hang up." "No, you hang up." But he got through to her, and she breaks down sobbing, sheds the Tough Ji-An Mask and speaks her true feelings. Then they have that lovely exchange at the hospital, during which he basically says is that he knows her heart, and therefore could understand and accept anything she does. It was like that scene where he first found out that she killed someone, and declared, "I would also kill someone if they beat my family." Just total, unconditional acceptance. That's what he does for her, and what she does for him. I found it very powerful. And... this is what he does. It's like that "buy me new slippers" conversation. She asked him to fire her and she'll disappear and all his problems at work will go "poof." He does not want that, and he makes that clear. But instead of saying, "I love you, be with me, let's kiss and then want to have some ramyun?" He says, "I will not fire you! Buy me new slippers!" And to him, that is huge. And more importantly, she knows that. Jae-Chul is right. It's like they're speaking in code. But as long as they both know what the other means... well, it's ON. And a few more things: - As much as Ji-An is willing to protect him with "every fiber of her being," he is willing to do the same for her. He is willing to air out all his dirty laundry, and he is also willing to quit his job for her. - I think it's very significant that he brought Ji-An to Jung-Hee's. It's always been surreal to see Ji-An interact with DH's world, seeing her work late with his team and run to catch the train, seeing the Hoo-Gye Avengers walk her home. Every little moment was so loaded with meaning. And now seeing her really hanging out with the gang was awesome. That's what makes this show great. They've really drawn and built up the characters so precisely that the audience understands how meaningful this is. A bunch of people sitting around and drinking is not an extraordinary thing. But we know these people now, and we know what a huge moment this is. Also, I've been genuinely tickled to see if Yu-Ra and Ji-An would ever meet. And it was hilarious! I loved Ji-An's "Who is this alien?" look on her face. (your future sister-in-law) Anyway, it really cracked me up that tvN called Yu-Ra a "미친X" (crazy richard simmons) in the title of their video clip. Ha ha. -- Okay, now, onto the skinship part of our discussion: First, I'm sorry but I like the word "skinship." I dislike many made-up faux-English words that Koreans use but I like this one. Second, they've laid the groundwork for a hug. So we're going to get a hug. And? It's not going to stop at a hug. We have come to know Dong-Hoon. He takes a while to make his move, but once he does, he is ALL IN. Once he gives his heart to a woman, that's it. So as someone else observed, once they settle into that hug, it's game over. On that note, so here's my interpretation of the video preview: Dong-Hoon: To me, who you've never even embraced once ... Ji-An: Fighting. Ji-An (voice over): Can I embrace you once? Dong-Hoon: Fighting. My guess is that she told him she loves him. And he replies, "But we've never even hugged." And she replies, "Okay, let's fix that." -- So anyway, here we go. Either I'm on the right track OR I am THE MOST DELULU viewer ever. Which, I will be okay with. Because... Sang-Won / Kyeom-Duk: There is no such thing as winning or losing. Everyone has their own lives to live. Thanks for posting the preview @mujay, because now I can finally hear what this line was.

throwback article DJ Kim Ye Won commented, "I saw the making film and I noticed there were parts where you showed great maturity for your age and led the scene. I saw that the flow being created with your lead. You are an adult." Nam Ji Hyun blushed and responded, "Was I very skillful?" She added, "Chang Wook oppa also said, 'Ji Hyun was an adult' after we filmed the scene and that made me blush." https://www.allkpop.com/article/2017/07/nam-ji-hyun-reveals-that-ji-chang-wook-made-her-blush-with-this-comment-after-their-bed-scene

@justamom @danielassny @Sharine Phinisia i kind of got that feeling too, especially with the way Dong Hoon’s happy face changed to one of sadness and regret, as if He seemed very happy for Ji An but he’s decided to let her go. However, there was also that hint that this isn’t the end because of Ji An’s words that she’ll buy him dinner and she’ll call him. And then their happy smiles after that, as if they’re looking forward to something good. And he seemed reluctant to let her hand go. So I guess in the end the writer stuck to the ambiguity of their feelings. No words of love, because as far as Park Dong Hoon and Lee Ji An are concerned, words are unnecessary.

Definitely not together. This show is so literary. Remember what I said earlier. The story lies in what is not said. What was not shown. He eats alone at home, with meals cooked by his mother. What a pathetic life. That’s why Ki Hoon’s question throws him off. Nope, definitely not together.

Can someone enlighten me where the disappointment came from ? Ep 15 doesn't deviate from the realistic flow. We all already know that they won't end up together. Imagine, it would be very weird if DH suddenly confessed that he loves her or kissed her......The show will lose its charm and become one of those trash romance drama. But yes, he loves her. Truly.

My mister was a breath of fresh air giving us a break from the cliche arrogant guy - poor girl romcoms. It's hard to bid adieu to this beautiful poignant tale of realism...We are nearing the finale... It's been wonderful.. Crossing my fingers....for that perfect hug...!

@soulgirl012 @mujay @akhenaten ajusshi got a date promise from a girl and he smiles! 2 people recovering from deep deep wounds, with their past life wiped out (almost) and starting from a clean slate, starting from the re-beginning....a healing G-Rated romance indeed!

I dont know how many times did I say that Jiwon unnie looks beautiful in white but she's really beautiful in white... And im still waiting for the day when she will be the most beautiful in white as she wears her own white wedding gown... Im always praying for her happiness... and if she finds her man of her life, im praying that its for keeps. Semper Fidelis... always faithful to each other...

That is EXACTLY how I read it! It's even said in the same confessional tone. High 5 Right there with you! Seriously, I wasn't a hard core shipper and don't think I am now either. Just from the perspective of a storyteller I don't see any other way this story can go. She is the most important person in his life, period. It's like he operates at 10 Mghz frequency for everyone but 100 Mghz only for her. That's how you have to read him. @tiger457_stv might have a better analogy, my physics ain't great here but you get what I mean?

The ending, where he asked if she was at a comfortable point now and she replied yes and said yes a second time with more conviction, makes me believe that they will surely meet up for a meal but this time, they are free to pursue anything with each other since they are free of all obligations now. Would have loved to seen JA meet up with the usual gang but this open ending is fine too!!

I m also thinking abt it.. Whether to do for both individually or together!! i also prefer individual ones as they aren't officially a couple.. I hope we get good news before their birthdays!! Everyone give suggestions.. I would like to plan with everyone!!

I could just imagine..... JiAn saying : "Can I hug you once?" DH replying : "Fighting" ! JiAn saying : " I Love you" DH replying : "Thank you" Me : "You're welcome" DH saying : "But she is the one who helps me breathe" Me : "Ahjussi... I'll just give you unli supply of Oxygen tank..okey fine?"

Seeing from the comments many Soompi members are impatient to see more open declaration of love affection etc... that what has been seen is very mute. Please realize that Ji-an is in big trouble since she committed a serious crime that can land her in prison. Engineer is demonstrating how much he care for her by doing everything he can to resolve her problem, finding her shelter, etc..... this is not a time for declaration of any sort. Would you prefer the cliché "I don't know what will happen, but I promise we will be together for ever, after prison, won't we be parted.... so let us do have some skinship so we can remember this tender moment when you're incarcerated. Don't worry I will buy lots of tofu for you!!" He needs to keep her from prison, then deals with all of his baggage before he has the luxury to clarify the most important matter: THIS POOR GIRL THAT HAS SACRIFICED EVERYTHING FOR HIM... CAN HE TRULY CORRESPOND HER AFFECTION/LOVE....CAN HE MAKE HER HAPPY WITH ALL THE BAGGAGE HE STILL HAS? Ordinary men would promise the world, then deliver nothing. An old fashion GENTLEMAN would NOT DO ANYTHING TO HARM THE ONE HE CARE ABOUT, OR PROMISE WHAT HE CANNOT DELIVER. HER LIFE UP TO NOW WAS RUINED, WITH HER REBIRTH HE CANNOT DESTROY HER YOUTH AND A CHANCE FOR HAPPINESS IN THE FUTURE! A selfish man will leap, the wise engineer hesitate, analyze, plan a solution, before he answer her question: Can I hug you just once? His thought is probably: if I hug you once, I may not be able to let you go!!!! …. so the last thing he must answer to himself: Am I the right man for her???? The PAIR are not selfish, and would die for the other's happiness!!! which is why they ultimately will be together!.... or together with a small boundary! Because after what they've been through, they will never be separate again.. One farewell is enough.... At least Ji-an has been accepted by the GANG and Dong Hoon's brothers! Soompi members, what is the most important people in Dong Hoon's life: 1) his wife 2) his mother/family and the Gang? By being accepted by the GANG, she has a chance to be accepted by Dong Hoon's mother.... This great opportunity allows the PAIR to spend time with each other, while helping each other through the most difficult part. the last episode will be a whirlwind!!!!! PS: Do Soompi members realize she is half way into Engineer's house???

HJW recently likes white color. White flowers. The white blouse is wearing white dress and white suit. Or is this a pre-rehearsal for a white wedding dress?

I love my man... but he runs like a girl. From the looks of things the writer saw a whole lot of comments and saw red. At the end of the day we're all here to have fun. I am most definitely. There's a wild and wacky streak running through the drama and really we shouldn't be taking things too seriously because the writer and actors are having too much fun messing around and messing with our heads. I started watching this because I knew I was getting something off-beat and funny. The last thing I want to be a part of is a ship war... but this writer (of the drama) has a knack for starting them.
