Synopsis:



Originally aired in 2000, "Pangako Sa 'Yo" centered on sweethearts Yna (Bernardo) and Angelo (Padilla), who fell in love with each other. However, when secrets from their parents' past unravel, both were anguished with the discovery that they might be half-siblings.

Host: Let's now talk about your future projects. There are reports that "Pangako Sa 'Yo" would have a remake, which originally starred Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa. What is now that status of this project, is this poject pushing through?

Kath and DJ: Pushing through.

Host: So it's really a go. How does it feel? I mean... that's it's such a beautiful and big big project.

DJ: It's like... we don't really want to for now (think about it). No, of course amazing, right? You're going to do a remake of "Pangako Sa 'Yo." It's like you were so young and when you get to watch it. Then you didn't know you're going to do a remake of it when you get older. Wow!

Kath: Solid!

DJ: Man, that's heavy!

Host: Super excited?

Kath: Yes!

Host: When is this going to happen?

Kath: We were told next year, but we're going to tape for it already when we get back to the Philippines.

It’s confirmed. Love team and rumored couple Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo are  doing the remake of the hit teleserye "Pangako Sa'yo" which originally  topbilled Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa. The upcoming  project’s  teaser video and cast members were presented during ABS-CBN's trade launch on Tuesday, December 2.

Household names

Daniel will reprise the role of Angelo Buenavista, which Jericho first portrayed, while Kathryn plays Kristine's character Yna Macaspac.

"Pangako Sa'yo," which started airing in 2000, made Jericho and Kristine household names. The teleserye reportedly aired in over 20 countries, including Thailand, Malaysia and China.

Other significant characters in the teleserye are Amor Powers and Claudia Buenavista, originally portrayed by Eula Valdez and Jean Garcia, respectively.  Jodi Sta. Maria and Angelica Panganiban will play rivals Amor and Claudia, respectively in the new version.

Jericho said in a previous interview that he thinks Daniel and Kathryn will fit the roles given them.

ABS-CBN is all set to kick off 2015 with new and exciting surprises for Kapamilya TV viewers as it gives a new touch to classic love teams and stories, including the highly-anticipated Pangako Sa’yo, remake of Teen King and Queen Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.

At the recently-held trade event titled Thank You Ang Babait Ninyo: Isang Gabi ng Pasasalamat, ABS-CBN officially introduced Daniel and Kathryn as the new generation’s Angelo Buenavista and Yna Macaspac — the two iconic roles that were first portrayed by Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Daniel and Kathryn both shared that it felt so surreal shooting the teaser for Pangako Sa’yo.

“I had goosebumps when we were shooting the exact same teaser of Pangako Sa’yo. The theme song kept on playing while we were on the set. I can’t believe that this is really happening,” he said.

For Kathryn, retelling the Angelo-Yna love story is a huge step for them as a love team because it is their most mature role to date.

“I was very happy when we saw the trailer. I can’t explain it. It’s overwhelming,” she said. “I had to adjust at first because I was not used to portraying mature characters. But when we saw the outcome, I can say that it was worth it.”

Pangako Sa’yo ran for two years since it aired in 2000. It has gained high popularity in more than 20 countries, including China, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Cambodian Television Network (CTN) even bought its format from ABS-CBN in 2012 and created a localized version of Pangako Sa’yo.

The Jericho-Kristine starrer also became a huge success in China where it rated second in overall local and foreign programs. Its lead actor Jericho, on the other hand, widened his fan base to include those living in Malaysia and even African countries where the show aired.

Coming as a big surprise to advertisers, Jodi Sta. Maria, who played the positive and loving character of Maya in Be Careful With My Heart, joins Kathryn and Daniel as the feisty and vengeful Amor Powers. Angelica Panganiban is set to return on television as the scheming and ambitious Claudia Buenavista.

Produced by Star Creatives, the Pangako Sa’yo remake will be helmed by its original director Rory Quintos.
