What genre would you categorize this as?

"ninja style"

My friend's looking for music and asked me if I knew anything that were similar to this video:

I said I have no clue about music.

He says the only answers he's gotten from some forums are "ninja style" and "japanese style" but they don't give any good results when he youtubes it.

"Ninja style" is an odd term to me. Is this an actual genre?

lol, never heard of "ninja" style.

but i'll say it's more like traditional instruments with some modern, upbeat feeling to it.

not sure if there are any other songs or artists that do this out there.

or if there's even a certain genre for it.

Pop Rock combined with traditional/folk Japanese music, maybe? Songs like these aren't that uncommon in Bemani games like Beatmania and DDR, though it kinda sounds like it'd fit well in Okami, too.

There's been various discussions about "just what do we call this music" and people have brought up things like the instruments involved, the "style", and stuff.

Though "ninja" music was one of the more popular references for whatever reasons. Maybe cause of ninja flicks like naruto

Oh, and "samurai music" also.
