Because when i first had my astigmatism ones, it bothered me at first so my optometrist just gave me like the regular ones, but i'm thinking maybe it's a bad idea now? so after i'm done with this pack, i'm thinking of gonig back to astigmatism ones, but is it bad to be wearing the wrong lenses?

theres a topic kinda like this floating around somewhere that might answer your question more thoroughly..

but my short answer is...

yes it's bad, and you should switch back to contacts with astigmatism.

YES, it is bad. Wearing the wrong contacts/prescription can mess up your vision!

I wonder why your optometrist would give you the other kind. There's no point in wearing contacts at all if you have an astigmatism, but you don't wear the toric lenses. They won't help your vision because they don't deal with the problem.

if you have only a slighhhht astigmatism, it should be fine, but if its on the bad side, then yeah, you should def. switch back. talk to your eye dr. about it.

i wear regular contacts too... astigmatism contacts cost so much more and i like to wear colored ones once in awhile.

if you have slight astigmatism, it should be fine.

I wore colored contacts for years a day a week (going out)...they weren't astigmatism because they didn't make the color I wanted in toric...The doctor said it was fine as long as I didn't wear them to drive and rarely wore them.

Well, what is slight astigmatism? like how bad are your eyes [to the people that said they have slight astig.] ??

It depends... if you can see well without the normal lenses, then it should be alright. According to what I learn in physics, astigmatism is an aberration in the natural lens of the human eye. If you can see well without the specific lens, then it shouldn't do much harm. Seeing well meaning, there's no oddity in your vision and such.

I have astigmatism but I wear non-astigmatism contacts, why?

Because I wear my contacts for a very long period of time during the day that my eyes don't get enough oxygen and my eyes started to get veins or w/e growing, because they were finding another way to get oxygen.

My doctor prescribed me "All Day & Night" contacts that let my eyes breathe much better, but don't treat my astigmatism.

As long as you see everything you need to see good, then you should be fine. o_O

My left eye is very-very heavy on astigmatism, and my right is okay.

But I wear both non-astigmatism lens on both eyes. :)

I have slight astigmatism in both eyes but I also wear regular contacts since toric lenses bug my eyes a lot and I feel a bit queasy from them. My optometrist also told me that it should be ok with contact lenses (only for sligh astigmatism) because contacts are a lot closer to your eyes than glasses. As long as you're seeing ok and you're not having a headache from not having the toric lenses, then it should be fine. However if you have astigmatism, your lenses on your glasses must have the correct cylinder.

like i was just wondering because sometimes my right eye[which has astigmatism] would get blurry, like i can see everything fine but it's just like not as perfect as my left eye. so maybe this is impairing my vision? i hope not. i only had contacts for like 3 months now? :\

I have slight astigmatism in both of my eyes, and I wear regular contacts. As long as you can see fine with your contacts, I don't think it's harmful. Your optometrist prescribed them so I think you'll be fine. If you're really worried, discuss your concerns with your optometrist. He/she is the only person who can really tell you if you should switch back to Astigmatism contacts or if you can stick with regular ones.

i have astigmatism and i wear non astigmatism contacts. Astigmatism contacts make me dizzier..so since my degree isn't that high my optician said that it's fine not to wear astig contacts. It all depends on the individual so you should take the advice of your optician :)

my optometrist said that if you wear non-astigmatism contacts your vision won't be as clear.

he gave my sister a choice, cause he told her that she's kind of like borderline between having

to get astigmatism contacts or not getting the normal ones (i think her astigmatism is like -100).

i don't really know, haha.

=S

I think it depends on how bad the astigmatism is. Astigmatism has to do with the curve of your eye lens. Normally shaped like basketball. Astigmatism eyes have lens more shaped like football. so can't see as well. Glasses and contacts correct this. I wear toric lenses. I think it has to do with how bad the astigmatism is. mine is bad. if your're really concerned talk to the doc. The others here have been able to wear non astigmatism I think because the astigmatism is not a lot.

it's not really that bad. the only problem with regular contacts if you have astigmatism is that it'll keep on moving because you have it. My sister wore regular contacts for a long time because she didn't know she had astigmatism until a recent doctor told her. But, she's fine, her eye visions are just blurred because of the contact she was wearing.

it's not bad, but just stick with the right contacts for your eyes :)

rofl sorry just to correct you but astigmatism has NOTHING to do with the lens of the eye, it refers to the shape of your cornea/eyeball...people with astigmatism will not have a spherical cornea, and will have more/less curve to the eye in diff meridians...

saying that, if you have slight astigmatism, non-astigmatic contacts will be fine...however if you have bad astigmatism, it simply wont be compensated for by the contacts and your vision isnt going to be as good. non-astig. lenses wont ruin ur eyes, it just wont correct your astigmatism.
