I've been doing some walking and jogging lately and i've realised that my calves are slightly bigger, im afraid that if i keep up my thighs will also get bigger, does anyone know that this is true that if you run/jog/walk your thighs and calves will get bigger?

yeah, i think it will. not sure about thighs but my calves usually just get muscularly when i run/jog/walk a lot.

It should tone your leg and make it more muscular. If your running and it feels like your thigh is burning that means your toning your thighs also.

It depends, actually. If you do short distance running, it will make it look more muscular and somewhat bigger. However, if you walk and run long distances, it will slim it down and tone your thighs. Hope this helps!

i heard that if you run more than 30 minutes, youre burning muscle

but if you run 30 minutes or less, youre burning fat

thats why the cardio machines at 24 fitness are 30 minute limits.

Hehe.. Well... When I did cross country I was pretty slim... I guess running more than 3 miles would do it..

But most of my track runner friends have huge calf muscles and thighs... I guess it depends?

if that was true all the pro athletes wouldn't have any muscle left <_<

LOL.

Anyways, for me..I jog everyday for 70 minutes and my thighs became smaller and my calves got a lot more toned.

depends on how you run....if you step starting with the heels of your feet and following thorugh...you shouldnt get bigger calves and thighs...

There's a 30 minute limit so that every person can have a shot at the machines lol....

If you sprint, it builds muscle. [:

But if you jog for a long period of time, it slims and tones it.

I used to do soccer, track, and swim

so I have pretty muscular legs

but my thighs don't touch

I know some people with big thighs say theirs like always touch no matter what

but for some reason mine don't even though a little large from being muscular

it's how you use your body which determines what sort of muscle you build up

like others in the thread have said, people who do exercises which require 'bursts' of strength usually will develop big muscles.

hence sprinters and gymnasts have bigger muscles.

if you do endurance exercises, your muscles are basically trained to be suited for the task

ie, dancers, long distance runners have leaner muscles.

of course, if you have no muscle (and little fat) to begin with, you'll definitely get bigger regardless.

if you have muscle and lots of fat, you'll really need to burn off the fat before you can see leanness.

it's actually kind of important for teenagers to be careful of how they build up their body frame, b/c after you stop growing it's pretty set.
