Box office means your movie should be watched by at least 2 million viewers or more. In the case of "That Guy", so far only 450,000 viewers have come to watch the movie in the past 4 days. That means per day more than 50,000 viewers were there. However, if it were Chungmuro veterans movie being shown, then, in one day whether weekday or weekend they have close to 400,000 viewers. So that is why some movies click quickly. Also the press media review. If the press media gives a good review that too a separate score for visuals, story, acting, production and direction then this gives in more viewers. That is why a movie production spends more time in pre-production. Whereas, for a drama the production team would get an instant response and we all know why they worship live shoot system. But I am not sure whether A-list actors have to be paid guarantees. If that is there then that puts production studios at risk. So at any cost, they will make sure the movie becomes a super duper hit so they don't fall into any kind of loss.
Yep I agree with that. Take another case - Ha Jung Woo. He enlisted when he was 19. After discharge, he was rejected for every audition he ever went for, simply because he didn't have the "flower boy" look. It took him close to 7- 8 years to break even for a good role and that was when "The Chaser" happened. But it wasn't smooth sailing even after that. He had a period of lull for sometime since movies after were not doing great. I remember seeing him in the "Nameless Gangster". Wow that was one movie he required applause. So I wouldn't blame national service for a career interruption. It all depends upon timing. Good projects need good time to come and in the hands of a capable director and script writer.
Wow the number of sold out seats for "That Guy" was at the highest. Around 190,000 seats got sold out on Halloween!!!!! WOW!!!! So today we could expect more since it is a Sunday!!! Awesome "That Guy" team fighting!!!! Now I am curious - what are the eerie scenes in the movie??
Actually "That Guy" had a better opening than "Scoop Exclusive" and "The Phone". The former had around 67,000 + seats sold on the first day (22 /10) and the latter had around 69,000 + seats sold on the first day (22 / 10). The total amount admissions shown for all the movies is from the first day it premiered. I would say That Guy had a good opening compared to it's predecessors.
I hope the movie has had a decent turn out. Even if it reaches 500,000 audience today, I would think it is really good. So many pictures coming on Instagram of tickets from movie goers. Also the netizens have given a good review. On Naver Movie the current rating of the movie is 8.20 with 50% of both men and women giving a good review. Although there were some who commented the movie went down in the second half (suspense is a tricky genre and it is upto the writer and director to take the story forward). Anyways if the movie reaches 1 million viewers I will be really happy for the team.
Guys any idea on the reviews for the sneak preview? I'm seeing a lot of pics on Instagram. Cutie, director and LYY were there for stage greetings in tma select CGV Theatre. Seems it was like a lottery draw for some lucky fans . I hope these fans gave some good reviews.
@gilaswan In some of his earlier interviews like around 2010 or 2011, when he just started with dramas, one of the interviewer who had seen him in Spring Awakening while interviewing told him that she had seen his "rear" before the start of the second act. Joo Won just smiled with it. [ In the musical the scene was such it was towards the end of the first part and before the second part starts, Melchoir (Joo Won) plagued with his rambling hormones (since he is a teen) for Wendla attempts to make a move on her. Since she does not protest he assumes she has consented and wants to make love with her. But when she starts pushing him away, he gets angry and does not stop. And he forces himself on her. So it is not confirmed in the musical whether it was a consented or unconsented intimate scene ]. So imagine all those lucky people who got to see his rear for the remaining 150 performances
Hi folks, just to remind you.... Since Cutie's movie is opening on 28th, please do remember that the movie distributor is CGV Arthouse. This is not a distributor for big budget movies. In fact most of the movies it has distributed falls in the category of indie or word of mouth. Some of the movies this distributor has distributed includes Han Gong Ju, The Shameless, Socialphobia, Tinker Ticker, Coin Locker Girl, A Girl at My Door etc... So chances are there the movie won't be running in many theaters, just a select few. Secondly most of the movies I have mentioned in this list were popular in movie festival circuits both within Korea and abroad, where two of them were invited to Cannes and we all know about the accolades that Han Gong Ju had got. So you can be wary movie critics have a huge hand in awarding the actors and actresses based on this genre of indie movies for the end of the year movie awards. [ I'm a big sucker of indie movies and some of my favourite are indies like The Winter's Bone, Blair Witch Project, The Kids are Okay, Juno and so on. ] So more than numbers in movie tickets sale, just like me many of you are hoping that the movie hopes to gather a decent crowd yet appeals to both critics and viewers alike. At least I sincerely hope this is damned good project for Cutie before he enlists in the second half of next year. So far the media has given a favourable review. I hope this movie works wonders for Cutie just like how The Chaser worked for Kim Yoon Seok and Ha Jung Woo after years of going unnoticed in Chungmuro. Fighting That Guy! Fighting Cutie! Fighting to all the crews and actors!
Check the latest breaking news on Soompi. And the quick denial mentioned as Update in the news article. All for a mere increase in search rankings. The agency I am referring to is where the Uhm siblings are currently signed with. It's simple why Joo Won suffers this - he is a holder of 2 PD awards. That means he is acknowledged for his acting by the technical team. The others are acknowledged by others for popularity. Who gets "method actor" in their articles by the news reporters? Who gets the calls for the "tough roles" who has a sense of mania and paranoia? And that too before turning 30? No matter what media play is being done, if it is a good role and the director feels he is the one, no matter what bribery is done, the talented one comes out first.
It is the agency for sure. An actor wouldn't stoop so low to get his name meddled on search rankings. Plus the radio show was close to an hour. Perfect timing for someone to make a post on DC and spread it like rumours. But deny flatly within no time?! Wow.... This is sooooo damn shitty!!! I'm running short on expletives.
I can see some media play happening on Naver. At the time when the radio show is going on, we see some news to deviate interest. I see this is really sad from the agency point of view. This ain't cool talent agencies!!!! Really this is so frustrating
