The 2nd Chinese TV Plays Gala was formally kicked off on Thursday in Beijing, with the announcement of the top 50 TV dramas in 2005.

CCTV's heavyweight TV series last year, "Moment in Peking,"《京华烟云》starring China's most popular actress Vicky Zhao, beat the 30-episode TV drama "Bright Sword"《亮剑》to win the Best Rating Award.

Other TV plays in the top 50 list also included "The Emperor of Han Dynasty," 《汉武大帝》"Ren Changxia,"《任长霞》and "The Judge of the Song Dynasty"《大宋提刑官》.

A grand award ceremony will be held on June 6 to unveil the other categories of awards, including Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Drama of the Year.

TV plays are required to be among the 50 highest audience rated programs to compete for an award.

What makes a woman beautiful in a Chinese person's eyes? Now we have a standard to follow.

The Beijing based Mirror newspaper reports that the ongoing International Cosmetics and Fashion Week has just established a Chinese Beauty Standard.

Eighteen chapters, covering different parts of the body, are devoted to elucidating the Chinese aesthetic.

According to the standard, a Chinese beauty must have an oval face, willow-leaf shaped eye-brows and a mouth that curves upwards at the corners.

The length of a woman's eyes should be 24 to 28 millimeters, with a distance of 35 millimeters between the two eyes.

A poll on China's web portal sohu.com has just elected their list of the ten most beautiful Chinese women. At number one is actress Vicky Zhao Wei.
