She has taken part in other artists’ works, such as Brown Eyed Soul’s “Life and Love Are the Same,” Dynamic Duo’s “Confession,” and Bobby Kim’s “When I Can Love.” Although her band G.Fla had disbanded in 2008, music lovers still love and admire her for her distinct voice and original musical style.

Epik High's Tablo, Clazziquai's Alex, and Jewelry's Park Jung Ah and Ha Joo Yeon all lent their voices to the impressive mini-album produced by Leessang's Gil, and Lee Juck also penned a ballad for her which is the title song "Hate You".

Used to be one of the best kept secret in k-pop, Jung In finally gets a chance to introduce herself to mainstream audiences as she is actively promoting her title song "Hate You" on music shows. "Hate You" is ranked in the top 10 on many music charts and her mini-album is also doing well on album sales charts.

I really was waiting for her debut as a solo artist but to be honest, her mini-album was a disappointment for me. However, I liked the title song "Hate You" and her previously works with LeeSsang on their albums. :]

But it's good to know she's doing well on music charts, especially with all these popular idol singers and groups out there.

Jung In is the #1 most invited radio guest

Earlier this month, Jung In made her comeback with her second album, “Melody Remedy“, which has been earning an explosive response on the charts. The recognition of her talent doesn’t end there, though, as JUNGLE Entertainment revealed to allkpop that she’s now the #1 most invited celebrity to Korean radio shows!

Although it’s now become standard for artists to promote their album on variety and music programs, Jung In took the analog route in order to allow for a deeper level of communication with her fans by starting exclusively with radio appearances.

Her title track, “Monsoon“, recently ranked second within two days of its release on “Air Monitor“, a live broadcast monitoring site.

On April 9th, Jung In guested on MBC FM4U’s “Jung Yeob’s Blue Night“. After performing “Monsoon”, her debut track “I Hate You“, and “Honesty“, she received unending praise from Korea’s best soul vocalist – Jung Yeob himself. He praised, “She’s a singer with a voice worth millions of dollars. As time passes, her emotions seem to get deeper and I can really see her improve.”

Jung In’s “Monsoon” is the most requested radio song on rainy days

According to Air Monitor, a live monitoring company for TV and radio broadcasts, “Monsoon” was the most played song on air and ranked the highest on radio charts on days where it rained.

Listeners explained that the song was a perfect fit for gloomy days where they wanted a deep, meaningful song to fill up an emotional void. The song itself has been ranking first on Cyworld’s R&B/Soul BGM chart for the past three weeks, and is still going strong.

[Review] “Rainy Season” by Jung In

For the time being, solo singer Jung In is a relative unknown among international fans of Korean music, but she has quite the following in South Korea, and for very good reason.

Once she parted ways from her former group G-Fla (Groove Flamingo) some years ago, Jung In’s solo career stepped down a very eccentric path, focusing on a Korean-indie/R&B style with her boyfriend of eight years, guitarist Jo Jung Chi.

Jung In released “Rainy Season” in early April as the lead single from her 2011 EP, “Melody Remedy“, and as you will hear below, Jung In’s music stands out in two very special ways: through her musical style and through her interesting singing voice.

It took watching Jung In perform this song live for me to really take in the robust quality of her vocal ability. The way the notes of this song flow from Jung In’s mouth as she plucks them from her vocal library is both soothing and mesmerizing to listen to. “Rainy Season” is a slow tempo R&B single with crests of melodies in every verse and chorus line, and Jung In does an excellent job of delivering clear meaning, excitement, and emotion as the listener delves into every layer of the song.

An important detail worth mentioning here is that “Rainy Season” has a very good direction. It intensifies from one verse to the next, all culminating to an explosive middle 8 where we hear Jung In conjure up a set of pipes we hadn’t heard before. The male accompaniment is also brought out at the climax, which allows this grand release of tension to become even more magical.

Jung In’s “Rainy Season” is a definite gem of 2011; it’s multi-dimensional, tender, and Jung In racks your cords apart with nothing but her voice. How often does that happen?

If you enjoyed “Rainy Season”, give the rest of her mini album, “Melody Remedy”, a listen. You won’t regret a minute of it.

You can purchase the mini album on iTunes: here!

5/5
