Asian girls and LV proportions?

ValnityValnity Under your StaircasePosts: 350Member
Yes the bags.
image Has anyone seen girls that are at most 5'5" and they carry the LV Neverfull GM and it looks way oversized on them....I saw an asian woman use it as a grocery bag once....

And second is actually a question, for those who've been in Korea or know asians that own LV speedy's, do they usually go for the 25 or 30 size if they're from 4'10-5'3? Or in other words, which size is more popular in Korea?

My friend has a Speedy 25 and she's about 5'2". It's perfectly in proportion with her height. It's not obnoxious like you said, the people who use their big Louis Vuitton as a freakin grocery bag (probably fake if you don't care for your bag OR you're super rich).

But... having said that, you should choose a bag that fits your needs. Speedy 25 is perfect for everyday and fits quite a lot of stuff but it can get pretty crowded. If you're the type of person who brings everything with you, you might want to get a bigger bag.

    Big bags are freaking awesome.

Still, I don't think proportions really matter. If the oversize bag looks ridiculous, it's simply looks ridiculous.

I don't care if you're 5'2 like the twins or 6'0, this will definitely be an eye catcher:

I think your best bet is probably to go into a LV store and see what you like best.
What another person says is "the perfect size" might be too big or small in your eyes.
honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

Use an LV as a grocery bag?!! Gesh. what a different world .__.
The shape of the Speedy looks like a dog carrier to me. image
Yah I've seen a college student here carrying a Neverfull GM, it's just too big on her

There's a rumor that Totally will be available in Damier Ebene this year <3
Sooo I'm planning to invest in the "MM" when it's out, if there's one in that size.

Check out PURSE forum, you can find a bunch of purse pics and modeled pics there.

I'm 5'3 and I have the Speedy 25. Most people I've seen use the Speedy 25, but I like the Speedy 30 just as much. If you're under 5'3 I don't think it's too big.

I was in korea for half a year, and most girls carried the speedy 25.

however in terms of popularity just last year, the neverfull was BY FAR the most carried. So much so I went ahead and bought myself one too. And a GM in fact, but I'm 5'7'' so anything smaller would look kinda small on me image

to answer your question though.. sorry went off on a tangent.. I think the size really is personal preference. I know people that are short that prefer the 30.

omg! i think having a bag that big with my size (5ft) would make me.. idk, hidden? lol..
i love big bags but i don't think i'd go for that LV one image

You should go to the LV store and try them on and see which one suits you best image

I was dead set on getting a Speedy 25 Damier Azur but then I saw the Rosewood and fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on >.<

i thought the title says something like "the proportions of asian girls carrying LV bags" (which is a social phenomenon indeed!), but I never really notice the size of a bag to the person image

I like bigger bags because I can carry more stuff. I won't go as far as mary -kate's though. She can fit her self in there!

    lol at http://www.justjared.com/images/2006/07/as...en-huge-bag.jpg
"i bet mary kates in there"
although i think that's her luggage bag? since shes carrying a smaller bag (probably purse) in her other hand

as long as the bag isn't outrageously big i think height and size of the bag doesn't really matter.
you need different size bags for different needs anyway

    ROOKIE

i'm 165 cm and i have the neverfull GM
Its useful cos i can carry so much stuff but sometimes it's kind of inconvenient cos it's so big.... people can reach their arm into the back of the bag and steal my wallet if they wanted to....

I've seen 13 or 15 year old Asian girls who are like barely 5'2' carrying the large Neverfull and it just looks wrong. I remember I once saw a girl who looked 10 years old or something with a Neverfull that was bigger than her body. I've also seen short stubby girls carrying the super large Speedy (55 is it?) to class. So retarded.

But yeah I don't know about purses, but definitely get something proportional to your body. I have an LV Bosphore GM messenger bag and I was told to get this one (instead of the larger version) because it wasn't too big (I'm skinny) and would match my body.

I don't find me buying purses that fit my frame. I just go for a purse that will carry all my crap. ><
Usually I could never go for a small purse because I just carry too much stuff. Even if I wanted too I couldn't. ):

Only "small purses" I have are my wristlets and pochettes for when i'm just running out for a quick errand and don't need all the things in my purse.

    /Edit
I am 5'2" and I have the Speedy 30 and a Neverfull MM.

Haha 30 looks too big to me but then like 25 is too short....but same height? To me i was like WTF when I saw it lol. image Well GM works for you since you're 5'7 but on a girl my height...it is not attractive, I've seen like taiwanese ppl with it...eye sore, doesn't fit them at all. Haha.

Good style! Most guys go for like the Damier plain messengers haha. Yeah the largest neverfull looks awful on ppl shorter than 5'5 especially....

So, my other question is, would you guys get Damier Azur for a Speedy? image It's more feminine (asian right?) LOL. I sound so weird haha.

Another concern for me is that the Speedy 25 is too short length wise, (doesn't fit with the proportions of the height as 30 is same height as it.) and that for some reason, the zipper part isn't long enough, (maybe I need to go check it again) but from what I remember, I opened the zipper but I couldn't see clearly inside.

I'm 5'3.5 and I carry the neverfull mm and I think it looks fine. I remember I had a large debate on whether i looked alright with it or not and in the end my bf and I decided it was cute. I carry it with the sides cinched in and it looks good to me! I think if I was really small boned it would look kinda strange. It really depends on the size of the girl I guess.

I don't like big bags, they hide your outfit. Why would you want to do that? image... And they make you look shorter, smaller, but not cuter.

And the Kate Picture looks kind of gross too me, she looks sick.Literally ill.

Hmm. Personally, I like the Monogram Canvas better than the Damier Azur. But really it depends on the person and your usually style. For your second concern, the zipper is a bit short but it's not a big problem. If you're used to carrying bigger bags then it will be awkward at first.

I would think 25/30 and MM are the most popular sizes in most Asian countries; with the exception of maybe Japan, as petite bags are more popular, like 25s and PMs.

I'm 5'1" and I have the Speedy 30 in Damier Ebene. It doesn't look out of proportion with my height at all. It's the perfect size for me to carry everything I need (and I carry a lot in my bags!).

When I went to the LV store, aside from seeing how much volume each purse had, I just "modeled" all the purses that I was interested in (Speedy 25, 30 and the Trevi GM) and decided which "size" to buy through that process. Actually, I would have much preferred to purchase the Trevi GM (my dream purse! you can wear it on your arm and your shoulder!) but I wasn't quite ready to throw down about $1600 for a bag. >__>

Another thing to consider is what will you put inside your purse? Sure, you could purchase the bag that looks more "proportional" or "attractive" when considering one's height, however, will that same purse suit your personal needs when it comes to actually putting the things you carry around daily inside of it? Also, I was interested in the Speedy because it wasn't too "casual" (like the Neverfull series) nor was it too "dressy" (IMO, the Boetie series).

    let's walk together.
