Talking In The Background Of My Computer? With No Windows Open?

virus?
there was this really weird guy voice talking through my computer. i thought it was an ad, so i closed out all my browser windows. it kept talking! WTF?! i checked CTRL-ALT-DLT, and i had nothing running. is this a virus? i ran spybot SD and it found NOTHING. help!

    Although the application tab does not show anything running, it fails to show the programs running without an interface, the background stuff that is hidden from view under the Process tab.

    I know you said you don't have anything running, but could you check to see if you have any extra toolbars or programs that might have ads in them? My initial guess would be an ad gone wild.

    COnsider trying a different spyware program such as http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-...4-10804572.html which seems to be the new thing in cleaning up the computer.

    i think it was an activex control! so i uninstalled activex image i hope nothing like this happens agian. thanks for your response.

    btw: i was 100% sure i had nothing open. i rarely, RARELY get popups (firefox!) anyways.
